• Hibernate speed, and hard drive temperature

  My computer is taking in the region of 4 minutes or so, to hibernate 4GB of RAM. Also, resting my hand on the top of it is rather hot to the touch, so I ran CrystalDisk Info and that is reporting a temperature of 49 degrees C. I It's a Western Digital 5400 rpm drive, I've had it in the laptop since I bought it for most of the 2.75 years I've had it. Power on Count is 1219 Power on Hours is 3940 hours Boot up time is quicker than resuming from hibernate, too. Is there anything I can / should check ? Advice is greatly appreciated.

• netbook losing internet connection

  I have a netbook that occassionally, usually once or twice a day, maybe more, will lose its internet connection while I am on Skype (that's when I notice it most, it may happen more often). The little yellow dot appears over the networking icon in the system tray, which when I click on it says no internet access at the top of the popup menu, and next to the router connection that I have. Disconnecting and reconnecting usually rectifies full internet access again. I'm not sure if leaving it for any amount of time allows the netbook to automatically reconnect again. Everything seems fine with my laptop. I don't think this loses connection in the same way. I'm using Windows 7 home premium.

• wmpnetwk.exe hogging system resources

  I have recently noticed wmpnetwk.exe using a more than usual amount of processor cycles. I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium on a Netbook. I'm guessing it's a feature of Windows Media player that recently got turned on, possibly because of a Windows update or accidental key combination. I don't usually use Media player that often. Does anyone know if it is a feature that has recently turned on, and if so, how do I turn it off ?

  I'm trying to install the latest version of #Develop but am getting the message This setup requires the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 to be installed I'm running Windows 7, and I've tried running the installer for .NET Framework 3.5 plus the installer for the Windows 7 SDK. Anyone got any suggestions ?

• discovering files in the FileSystem, through SSIS

  I have a folder where files are going to be dropped for importing into my data warehouse. \\server\share\loading_area I have the following (inherited) code that uses xp_cmdshell shivers to call out to the command shell to run the DIR command and insert the resulting filenames into a table in SQL Server. I would like to 'go native' and reproduce this functionality in SSIS. Thanks in advance guys and girls.
