• Puppet master/agent basic setup

  I'm trying to setup a basic puppet agent/master use-case with an agent server and a master. I've setup two servers with puppet and puppet master respectively. After the following setup of both servers: puppet master --no-daemonize --verbose puppet agent --test puppet cert --list to get the list, puppet cert --sign to sign it. puppet agent --test I get the message: err: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: hostname was not match with the server certificate warning: Not using cache on failed catalog err: Could not retrieve catalog; skipping run err: Could not send report: hostname was not match with the server certificate What do I need to do in order to get the agent/master to be able to talk to each other?

• Object tree navigation language in Java

  In the system which I'm currently developing I often have to navigate an object tree and based on its state and values take actions. In normal Java this results in tedious for loops, if statements etc... Are there alternative ways to achieve tree navigation, similar to XPath for XML? I know there is JXPath and OGNL, but do you know any other libraries for such purpose? Do you know any libraries which generate bytecodes for specific tree navigation expressions to make the processing as fast as Java native fors and ifs?

  How to compare two maps by their values? I have two maps containing equal values and want to compare them by their values. Here is an example: Map a = new HashMap(); a.put("f"+"oo", "bar"+"bar"); a.put("fo"+"o", "bar"+"bar"); Map b = new HashMap(); a.put("f"+"oo", "bar"+"bar"); a.put("fo"+"o", "bar"+"bar"); System.out.println("equals: " + a.equals(b)); // obviously false .... what to call to obtain a true? Obviously, to implement a comparison it not difficult, it is enough to compare all keys and their associated values. I don't believe I'm the first one to do this, so there must be already a library functions either in java or in one of the jakarta.commons libraries. Thanks

• spring security filter-chain regex pattern

  In my application which uses spring security I want to define two different areas both using their own spring security filter-chain. My question is: is it possible to define two regex expressions as follows: every path starting with /foobar/* every other path not starting with /foobar The important part here is that the second path should also match if somewhere within it, but not in the beginning, it cotains the /foobar/ string. • HSQLDB and in-memory files

  Is it possible to setup HSQLDB in a way, so that the files with the db information are written into memory instead of using actual files? I want to use hsqldb to export some data structures together with hibernate mappings. Is is, however, not possible to write temporary files, so that I need to generate the files in-memory and return a stream with their contents as a response. Setting hsqldb to use nio seems not to be a solution, because there is no way to get hold of those files before they get written onto the filesystem. What I'm thinking of is a protocol handler for hsqldb, but I didn't find a suitable solution yet. Just to describe in other words: A hack solution would be to pass hsqldb a stream or several streams. It would then during its operation write data into those streams. After all data is written, the user of the db could then use those streams to send it back over the network.

  I want to use HSQLDB in a production environment for stroring some data in memory and for data export using files. Does anybody have experience with using hsqldb in production environments? Is hsqldb treating server resources gracefully and does it cleanup unused resources properly?

• Hibernate entities: columns without entity properties

  Is there a way to "magically" persist a column which is not represented as a property in an entity? Concretely I want to add audit info to an entity without having the audit info on the entity. The audit values are not stored in the entity, but are retrieved from the environment at the time of persisting the entity. This happens in a AuditInfoUserType. The nullSafeSet gets the info from the SecurityContext, instead of reading from the entity. In the hibernate mapping, however, the audit info properties have to be defined. Is there a way in hibernate to define columns without properties?
