    When I use this code with an element whose id is "foobar": $("#foobar").click(function () { alert("first"); }); $("#foobar").click(function () { alert("second"); }); I get two alerts: "first" and "second" second. How do I specify a click event that also clears out any previous click events attached to the element? I want the last $("#foobar").click(...) to erase any previously bound events.

  • Ivar definitions show 'long' type encoding as 'long long' type encoding

    I've found what I think may be a bug with Ivar and Objective-C runtime. I'm using XCode 3.2.1 and associated libraries, developing a 64 bit app on X86_64 (MacBook Pro). Where I would expect the type encoding for the following "longVal" to be 'l', the Ivar encoding is showing a 'q' (which is a 'long long'). Anyone else seeing this?   • Jquery – Disable/unbind click on active items, rebind click when inactive

    I have a left-positioned navigation that shows/hides content on the right. Currently, when you click a link, it fades in the corresponding content on the right and adds an active class to that link. My problem is that if you click the active link again, the content on the right keeps on fading in again. I would like to unbind that click while the link is active, and if you click on another navigation link (subsequently removing the class from the previous link and adding it to the current one) rebind the click event to all inactive links.   • Is it possible to add -pedantic to GCC command line, yet have it not warn about 'long long'

    I'm using mostly GCC to develop my library, but I'd like to ensure cross-compiler compatibility and especially standard conformance as much as possible. For this, I have add several -W... flags to command line. I'd also add -pedantic, but I have a problem with its warning about long long type. The latter is important for my library and is properly guarded with #if code, i.e. is not compiled on compilers that don't know it anyway. In short: can I have GCC in -pedantic mode warn about any extension except long long?

  • Ctrl+Click / Command+Click not working with analytics

    Hi All, I created my own analytics for my site to track outbound click events using jquery. Now the thing with preventDefault() is that it does not allow for the Ctrl+Click or COmmand+click operation in the browser to open the link in new tab/window. So my solution was to detect e.metaKey || e.ctrlKey and use window.open. This does not work very great with safari unless the user changes browser behavior. I am wondering if anyone here knows what other analytics users do - like how does google etc deal with this problem in tracking outbound links?   • ActionScipt MouseEvent's CLICK vs. DOUBLE_CLICK

    is it not possible to have both CLICK and DOUBLE_CLICK on the same display object? i'm trying to have both for the stage where double clicking the stage adds a new object and clicking once on the stage deselects a selected object. it appears that DOUBLE_CLICK will execute both itself as well as 2 CLICK functions. in other languages i've programmed with there was a built-in timers that set the two apart. is this not available in AS3?

  • Make the middle mouse button behave as a double-click in Windows 7?

    What is the best, lightest-weight way to make the middle mouse button (i.e. clicking the scroll wheel) behave as a double-left-click in Windows 7? I want this to be universal, so that other programs don't ever see the middle-click, they just see a double-left-click. I used to do it under Windows XP with Logitech SetPoint drivers but it was always an ugly solution - installing a huge ( 50 MB!) binary just to enable one simple little bit of functionality.

    I have searched for a solution to this for the last several hours but to no avail. When I click on a button that has a return false in OnClientClick, no postback occurs to the server. When I use jquery to trigger the click function of the button, OnClientClick fires first, but regardless of the return value, a postback occurs. Here's a simple sample... <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <asp:Button ID="Button2" OnClientClick="$('#Button1').click();" runat="server" Text="Trigger" /><br /> <asp:Button ID="Button1" OnClick="Button1_Click" OnClientClick="return false;" runat="server" Text="Button" /> </div> </form> So, in this example, when Button1 is clicked normally, no postback occurs. When Button2 is clicked, a postback always occurs. Is this a bug or intended behavior?

  • jQuery click event on IE7-8, does not execute on the div, only on its text

    I have a problem using the jQuery click event with IE7-8-9. I apply the event on a div. But on these two IE versions, I have to click on the text contained within the div to make the event work.   • Double-click instead of single-click in Ubuntu 12.04

    When I do a single click, my computer (with Ubuntu 12.04) acts like it was double click. I think it happens in ~50% of cases. It happens with all the program I use: browsers, file manager, terminal and so on. I'm not sure when exactly it started, maybe a week ago, and I don't remember if it started to happen after system-update or after the installation of some packages. What I tried: change mouse change mouse settings like Double-Click Timeout None of those helped me. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hi. How do I long click on a mapview so that a place marker appears at that point on the map? I tried a couple ways without success: 1) Using setOnLongClickListener on the MapvView which never detected the longclicks. 2) My other idea was to extend MapView to override dispatchTouchEvent .. Create a GestureDetector to respond to longpress callback. But I was stuck midway here as I could not get a handle to my subclassed Mapview. i.e. MyMapview mymapview; //MyMapView extends MapView mymapView = (MyMapView) findViewById(R.id.map); //results in a classcast exception 3) The only other way I know how to try this is: Detect a MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN and post a delayed runnable to a handler and detect longpress if the two other events: acton_move or an action_up, have not happened.     In yesterday’s post I talked about you could use SQL Developer’s Describe (SHIFT+F4) to open a PL/SQL Package at your cursor. You might get an error if you try to describe this… If you actually try to describe the package as you see it in the above screenshot, you’ll get an error: Doh! I neglected to say in yesterday’s post that I was highlighting the package name before I hit SHIFT+F4. This works just fine, but it will work even better in our next release as we’ve fixed this issue. Until then, you can also try the Ctrl+Hover with your mouse. For PL/SQL calls you can open the source immediately based on what you’re hovering over with your mouse cursor. You could try this with “dbms_output.put_line(” too Ctrl+Click, It’s not just for PL/SQL If you don’t like the floating describe windows you get when you do a SHIFT+F4 on a database object, the ctrl+click will work too. Instead of opening a normal ‘hover’ panel, you’ll be taken directly to the object editor for that table, view, etc. Go ahead and try it right now. Paste this into your worksheet, then ctrl+click with your mouse over the table name: select * from scott.emp And now you know, the rest of the story.

    What software do sites like www.shopzilla.com, www.become.com, www.kelkoo.com etc.. use for the Pay-Per-Click product listing campaigns they offer for their retailers. I am asking what kind of software do they use to know that a certain retailer's products has been clicked 50 times or 100 times(and then the cost of the click is deducted from his money-account) etc... Can someone point me to those kind of softwares? EDIT *Some Explanation :: * In a site like www.shopzilla.com, retailers will upload thier products(list their products on the site). Anytime a buyer clicks on a product to go the retailer's website, an amount of money(say $0.20) is deducted from his account(the money he has deposited in his account with shopzilla). A retailer can see how many times buyers have clicked on his products and how much money remains in his shopzilla accounts. Am looking for such softwares that comparison sites like shopzilla uses to run this type of campaigns. I hope it is clear now.

  • Tracking click conversions with Google Analytics

    Is there anyway I can use Google Analytics to track click conversions on a link? For example, if I have a link to www.a.com , is it possible for google to track the number of times that particular link was shown on my page and then track how many times it was really clicked? The problem is that I do not show the link to www.a.com every time the page loads. I am using a random function (server side) to generate a different link everytime. I would like Google Analytics to provide me with the click conversion for each of the links I choose to show the user. Thanks, Joel

  • How to disable tap to click in Lubuntu 13.10

    Tap to click is usually the first thing I disable when I have installed a new OS, but this time I couldn't get rid of it. In earlier versions of Lubuntu, I was able to disable it by writing "@synclient MaxTapTime=0" to /etc/xdg/lxsession/Lubuntu/autostart and save. But in Lubuntu 13.10 this method doesn't work any more. I can't find any solution on the internet either. (If there was a checkbox in "mouse and keyboard" preferences in LXDE to turn tap to click on/off permanently, like in Unity, that would make both lovers and haters of this divisive feature happy. I don't understand how this feature could be thought of as something everybody wants.)

  • Twice as long and half as long

    We are in a project and we hit some snags. What’s a snag? An activity that takes longer than expected. Actually it takes longer than the time assigned to it by an over pressed PM who accepts an impossible time table and tries his best to make it possible, but I digress (again!).  So we have snags and we also have the opposite. Let’s call these “cinches”. The question is: how does a combination of snags and cinches affect the project timeline? Well, there is no simple answer. It depends on the projects dependencies as we see in the PERT chart. If all the snags are in the critical path and all the cinches are elsewhere then the cinches don’t help at all. In fact any snag in the critical path will delay the project.  Conversely, a cinch in the critical path will expedite it. A snag outside the critical path might be serious enough to even change the critical path. Thus without the PERT chart, we cannot really tell. Still there is a principle involved – Time and speed are non-linear! Twice as long adds a full unit, half as long only takes ½ unit away. Let’s just investigate a simple project. It consists of two activities – S and C - each estimated to take a week. Alas, S is a snag and really needs twice the time allotted and – a sigh of relief – C is a cinch and will take half the time allotted, so everything is Hun-key-dory, or is it?  Even here the PERT chart is important. We have 2 cases: 1: S depends on C (or vice versa) as in when the two activities are assigned to one employee. Here the estimated time was 1 + 1 and the actual time was 2 + ½ and we are ½ week late or 25% late. 2: S and C are done in parallel. Here the estimated time was 1, but the actual time is 2 – we are a whole week or 100% late. Let’s change the equation a little. S need 1.5 and C needs .5 so in case 1, we have the loss fully compensated by the gain, but in case 2 we are still behind. There are cases where this really makes no difference. This is when the critical path is not affected and we have enough slack in the other paths to counteract the difference between its snags and cinches – Let’s call this difference DSC. So if the slack is greater than DSC the project will not suffer. Conclusion: There is no general rule about snags and cinches. We need to examine each case within its project, still as we saw in the 4 examples above; the snag is generally more powerful than the cinch. Long live Murphy! That’s All Folks

  • Adsense click bot is click bombing my site

    I have a site that get's roughly 7,000 - 10,000 page views per day right now. Starting around 1 AM on 7/1/12 I noticed the CTR was rising dramatically. These clicks would be credited then de-credited soon after. So, they were obviously fraudulent clicks. The next day I had about 200 clicks in account with about 100 of them being fraudulent. It's about 3 - 8 per hour evenly dispersed for each of the three ads 24 hours a day. This leads me to believe that it's some sort of Adsense click bot. Also, I removed the ads last evening then put them back up around 3AM and the invalid clicks started within 10 minutes. I signed up for statcounter.com to analyze the exit links on the Adsense. Then I conditionally blocked ads for the IP address of the person / bot I suspected doing this. But, I think that the bot has several proxies to choose from and can refresh IP addresses. I've notified Google through the invalid click form / email 4 times over the past two days in order to let them know I'm aware of the situation and am working on a solution. I've also temporally removed all ads on that site. How can I block a bot like this? Thank you.

  • Focus follows mouse stops working when opening window from launcher and no click to focus

    This is 12.04 default desktop (unity). I set it to focus follows mouse, and changed the menus to be on the window. This worked for a while, then some unknown even, maybe an upgrade maybe some other setting change caused it to stop working. There are many ways for this behavior to start but one reliable one is to bring a window to the foreground/focus with the launcher. Now the focus is stuck on that window and not just the window but the regions within the window so the close, maximize, minimize and menus do not work. I have to use mouse middle and then mouse right and then focus follows mouse is restored for a bit. The exact details of the mouse action aren't clear, sometimes it seems like just mouse middle helps, sometimes just right some times a desperate sequence of clicks :-( I have tried switching to the gnome desktop and it seems to occur less there but it is not eliminated. I have tried switching mice to an old wired USB mouse. I have tried creating a new account and that has not worked. I have observed "split focus" where to scroll button scrolls one one window but the input goes to another. I go trapped recently where my keyboard input went to libre office calc, but I was selecting the search term in the chrome address window. The selection "grayed" but the keyboard input for the search went to libre. Regions in windows have very confused focus. I have to work hard to get focus on for example the close gliph (X) or the minimize gliph (_).

  • Interop c# using a "long" from c++

    On my System: sizeof(long) in c++ is 4 aka 32bits sizeof(long) in c# is 8 aka 64 bits So in my Interop method declarations I've been substituting c++ longs with c# int's however I get the feeling this isn't safe? Why is a long the same size as an int in c++? And long long is 64bits? What's next a long long long long??
