  • Background position image overlay (Works in IE, not in Mozilla/Chrome/Safari)

    - by amm229
    Hi all, I am having an issue positioning a background image using the following jquery background position command in Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari. The code works correctly in IE 8. $('#element).css({ backgroundPosition: 'xpx ypx' }); The x position of the image is calculated dynamically based on window size and the y position is static. The css appears to be modified correctly, however, the background image I am attempting to overlay is absent. See jscript code below: $(window).resize(function () { // image positioning variables var windowwidth = $(window).width(); var imgwidth = $('#imgFluid').width(); var offset = $('#divFluidBlur').offset(); // calculate and implement position blurPositionLeft = (windowwidth - imgwidth) - offset.left; $('#divFluidBlur').css({ backgroundPosition: blurPositionLeft + 'px' + ' 30px' }); // debug: display actual css Background Position of element to text box $("#txtActualBackgroundpos").val(document.getElementById ("divFluidBlur").style.backgroundPosition); Thanks in advance for your help, Andrew

  • jquery.position() isn't working correctly.

    - by devzero
    I'm working on a menu system where I want a ul to show as a dropdown when the users does a mouseOver on li in another ul. I thought I'd use position to set the position of the dropdown (so it actually looks like a menu). What I want is the dropdown's top left corner to start at the same place as the bottom left corner of the wrapping listitem. Unfortunately the positioning fails in several different ways: In Firefox it seems like the dropdown's are offset with approximately -100 25 pixels the first item in the list has a different offset on the left side compared to the other items The offset in IE is not the same as in FF Doing the positioning repeatedly in explorer results in different positions each time. I've created a test page where you can see the effects: http://test.evju.biz/test/test_position.html

  • Correct way to take absolute value of INT_MIN

    - by aka.nice
    I want to perform some arithmetic in unsigned, and need to take absolute value of negative int, something like do_some_arithmetic_in_unsigned_mode(int some_signed_value) { unsigned int magnitude; int negative; if(some_signed_value<0) { magnitude = 0 - some_signed_value; negative = 1; } else { magnitude = some_signed_value; negative = 0; } ...snip... } But INT_MIN might be problematic, 0 - INT_MIN is UB if performed in signed arithmetic. What is a standard/robust/safe/efficient way to do this in C?

  • Why does my DIV clip its child DIV when jQuery moves it in IE?

    - by Ben Saufley
    I have two divs, both with position:absolute;, one inside the other. The parent isn't in a place where it can be set as position:relative without an extra layer of complexity (there are a lot of other elements around it that I'd have to account for to put it where it needs to be, which is at the very top of the page, over everything). The child element is made to stick off the bottom of the parent. In Chrome, Safari, Firefox, it all works splendidly. In IE, it works until jQuery moves the parent element - at which point the parent element clips the child, so you can barely see the top of the child. I feel like I've read about this, about IE clipping child elements, but I can't seem to find an answer that applies to my case. It's pretty simple, basically: <div id="parent" style="position:absolute;top:0;left:0;"> [content] <div id="tab" style="position:absolute;bottom:-30px;left:0;width:64px;height:32px;background-image:(...);"></div> </div> <script> $(document).ready( function() { $("#tab").click(function() { $("#parent").animate({"top":"-50px"},300); }); }); </script>

  • Footer positioning with CSS and 960gs

    - by Nick
    I'm new to doing layouts with CSS (I haven't done any web design for a long long time) and I can't seem to figure out how to get the footer of the page to display at the bottom the way I want. Requirements: -Display at bottom of content if content exceeds vertical size of viewport -Display at bottom of viewport if viewport exceeds vertical size of content. The code that I am using sets the footer at the bottom of the viewport, but if I size the browser to be shorter than the content, it just covers the content. Code: <div style="background-image:url(footer_bg.jpg); background-position:bottom; background-repeat:repeat-x; height:235px; width:100%; bottom:0px; position:absolute;"></div> My main goal is to have a footer with text (ie. company info, contact info) and a background gradient. I'd like the footer background to span the width of the page, but I don't know if I can do that with the 960 gs divs.

  • Positioning decorated series of div tags on screen using offset, DOM JQUERY RELATED

    - by Calibre2010
    Hi, I am using JQuery to position a series of div tags which basically use a class inside of the tag which decorates the divs as bars. So the div is a green box based on its css specifications to the glass. I have a list of STARTING postions, a list of left coordiantes- for the starting points I wish to position my DIV say 556, 560, 600 these automatically are generated as left positions in a list I have a list of ENDING postions, a list of left coordiantes- for the ending points I wish to position my DIV say 570, 590, 610 these automatically are generated as left positions in a list now for each start and end position, the bar(green box) i want to be drawn with its appropriate width as follows. so say f is the offset or position of the start and ff the offset or position of the end : Below draws the green box based on only one start and end position LEFT. if (f.left != 0) { $("#test").html($("<div>d</div>")).css({ position: 'absolute', left: (f.left) + "px", top: (f.top + 35) + "px", width: (ff.left - f.left) + 25 + "px" }).addClass("option1"); } I am looking to loop through the list of positons in the list and draw multiple green boxs based on the positions on the screen. The above code draws just one green box from the last offset position.

  • JSF2: Re-render all components on page that have a given ID, without absolute paths

    - by tlind
    Is there any way in JSF 2.0/PrimeFaces of re-rendering all components (using the PrimeFaces update="id1 id2..." attribute or the <f:ajax render="..."/> tag) that have got a given ID, regardless of whether they are in the same form that contains the button triggering the AJAX re-render or not? For example, I want my button to re-render all sections on a page that visualize the user's current shopping basket. Right now, I always have to specify the absolute path to the components that I want to get updated, e.g. update=":header:basket :left-sidebar:menu:basket" which is rather impractical if the structure of the page changes (besides, I have not been able to figure out the correct path for one of these components). I already tried to implement a custom EL function like this, which traverses the component tree: update="{utilBean.findAllComponentsMatchingId('basket')}" but at the time that function is evaluated, apparently not the entire component tree has been set up as it doesn't contain the components I am looking for. How can I deal with this? There certainly must be an easy way of doing AJAX-based updates of sections of the page that are not part of the current <h:form>? Thanks!

  • Positioning a Comment Input Field

    - by John
    Hello, What is a good way to give the input field below the three characteristics listed? Characteristics: -Always 30 px from the left side of the browser window. -Always 30 px below the words "Add a comment" if no comments have been added. -Always 30 px below the preceding comment if one or more comment has been added. Thanks in advance, John HTML / PHP Code: <div class="addacomment"><label for="title">Add a comment:</label></div> <div class="commentbox"><input class="commentsubfield" name="title" type="title" id="title" maxlength="1000"></div> CSS (thusfar I have no declarations for the "commentbox" selector): .commentsubfield { width: 390px; height: 90px; border: 1px solid #999999; padding: 5px; } .addacomment { position:absolute; width:250px; left:30px; top:180px; text-align: left; margin-bottom:3px; padding:0px; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; color:#000000; }

  • absolute positioned element not getting 100% height

    - by vitto
    hi here's my code (a bit simplified) <div id="wrapper" style="width:960px; margin:0 auto; position: relative;"> <img src="img/bg/wrapper.jpg" alt="" width="960" id="bg" style="position:absolute; top:0; left:0; z-index:0; height:100%;" /> <some more div></div> </div> here's my problem: if i give my image 100% height it works correctly in firefox/chrome (it stretches all allong its wrapper) while in explorer it inherits the page height!! causing an overheighted page. I tried with height=inherit but in firefox/chrome image doesn't stretch at all, in explorer the problem remains the same. Height=auto: the same as above in F/C + explorer doesn't stretch too. Any idea? Thanks Vitto

  • Absolute reRendering using RichFaces

    - by wheelie
    Hey there, I am implementing copy/paste functionality for a complex object tree, this means you can copy an object and paste it where the object type is the same. Therefore I need to reRender the <a4j:commandLink>-s which are performing the paste action (so it will show on the GUI or not). Simplified example: Problem is that copy links are deep in the tree. How is it possible to reRender on a higher level in the component tree? (very)Simplified example: ... <h:form id="form1"> ... <a4j:commandLink value="Copy" reRender=":paste1, :paste2, :paste3" /> <a4j:commandLink id="paste1" value="Paste" rendered="#{myBean.myHashMap.key}" /> <a4j:outputPanel> <a4j:region renderRegionOnly="true"> <a4j:commandLink value="Copy" reRender=":paste1, :paste2, :paste3" /> <a4j:commandLink id="paste2" value="Paste" rendered="#{myBean.myHashMap.key}" /> </a4j:region> <a4j:outputPanel> <a4j:region renderRegionOnly="true"> <a4j:commandLink value="Copy" reRender=":paste1, :paste2, :paste3" /> <a4j:commandLink id="paste3" value="Paste" rendered="#{myBean.myHashMap.key}" /> </a4j:region> </a4j:outputPanel> </a4j:outputPanel> ... </h:form> Something like that. In practise this differs in that a rich:tree is displayed. Also, there can be multiple instances of the same paste link: object:0::paste3, object:1::paste3. private final String pasteIDs = ":xxPaste, ... , :xyPaste"; According to the RichFaces reference, putting the separator to the beginning of the ID means it is an "absolute" search expression, however this way i get the same result: only the 'local' paste link gets rerendered, the others not. Every copy-paste link pair is encapsulated in <a4j:region renderRegionOnly="true">, because it is necessary for other components to restrict the reRender to that region. Could this be blocking the reRender I want to make? Also I want to rerender exactly those paste links, so no other rerender action is triggered. Hope it is clear what i want to achieve. Any help would be appreciated! Daniel

  • Slideshow positioning problem

    - by James
    I have a javascript slideshow that works perfectly on Windows 7, Firefox, Chrome, IE 8+ (I don't have the resources to check 6 or 7) and Opera. But I've been told that when on xp with IE 7 the slidshow gets thrown off screen to the right. What could my issue be? Here is my css: #page { width:940px; margin: auto; } gallery { position:relative; padding:0px; margin:5px 0px; width:940px; height:320px; } gallery li { display: block; width:940px; height:320 list-style:none; } And here is my javascript: var galleryId = 'gallery'; var gallery; var galleryImages; var currentImage; var previousImage; var preInitTimer; preInit(); function preInit() { if ((document.getElementById)&&(gallery=document.getElementById(galleryId))) { gallery.style.visibility = "hidden"; if (typeof preInitTimer != 'undefined') clearTimeout(preInitTimer); } else { preInitTimer = setTimeout("preInit()",2); } } function fader(imageNumber,opacity) { var obj=galleryImages[imageNumber]; if (obj.style) { if (obj.style.MozOpacity!=null) { obj.style.MozOpacity = (opacity/100) - .001; } else if (obj.style.opacity!=null) { obj.style.opacity = (opacity/100) - .001; } else if (obj.style.filter!=null) { obj.style.filter = "alpha(opacity="+opacity+")"; } } } function fadeInit() { if (document.getElementById) { preInit(); galleryImages = new Array; var node = gallery.firstChild; while (node) { if (node.nodeType==1) { galleryImages.push(node); } node = node.nextSibling; } for(i=0;i galleryImages[i].style.position='absolute'; galleryImages[i].style.top=0; galleryImages[i].style.zIndex=0; fader(i,0); } gallery.style.visibility = 'visible'; currentImage=0; previousImage=galleryImages.length-1; opacity=100; fader(currentImage,100); window.setTimeout("crossfade(100)", 1000); } } function crossfade(opacity) { if (opacity < 100) { fader(currentImage,opacity); opacity += 9; window.setTimeout("crossfade("+opacity+")", 50); } else { fader(previousImage,0); previousImage=currentImage; currentImage+=1; if (currentImage=galleryImages.length) { currentImage=0; } galleryImages[previousImage].style.zIndex = 0; galleryImages[currentImage].style.zIndex = 100; opacity=0; window.setTimeout("crossfade("+opacity+")", 5000); } } addEvent(window,'load',fadeInit) function addEvent(elm, evType, fn, useCapture) { if (elm.addEventListener){ elm.addEventListener(evType, fn, useCapture); return true; } else if (elm.attachEvent){ var r = elm.attachEvent("on"+evType, fn); return r; } } And ideas?

  • CSS: background image does not fill when scrolling

    - by rekindleMyLoveOf
    Hi, working on a very small site which loads in one go, so there is a div which holds all the background images, and on top of that (i.e. higher z-index) there is a content div which holds everything. I can switch backgrounds easily based on what content is selected. Unfortunately, I noticed if you launch in a small window so that scrollbars appear, if you scroll there is no background image in the 'revealed' portions of the page. :-( Page structure: <body> <div id="bg"> <div class="bgone"></div> <div class="bgtwo"></div> </div> <div id="container"> <!-- content panels here --> </div> </body> css: #bg { margin: 0px; position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width:100%; height: 1024px; z-index:1; } .bgone { margin: 0px; position: absolute; width:100%; height: 1024px; background-image:url(../images/one.jpg); background-position:top; background-repeat:repeat-x; z-index:2; } .bgtwo { margin: 0px; position: absolute; width:100%; height: 1024px; background-image:url(../images/two.jpg); background-position:top; background-repeat:repeat-x; z-index:3; } #container { position:relative; width:900px; padding:0px; margin:0px auto; height:600px; z-index:10; }

  • connection string reading data from excel in asp.net

    - by Greg
    Hello, I am trying to read data from excel file in asp.net. I have added the connection string to webConfig file: <add name="xls" connectionString="Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=HPM_DB.xls;Extended Properties=Excel 8.0"/> But it shows me an errormessage when I run this query: string query = "Select * from [IO_Definition$]"; IO_Definition is the name of the spreadsheet in my excel file. I also added the excel file to the App_Data folder of the website. The error is: The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object 'IO_Definition$'. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly. The thing is, when I write the absolute path of the excel file in the connectionString it does work. Is there anyway I can make it work without writing the absolute path? Thanks, Greg

  • Cannot position Google +1 button with CSS?

    I'm having some trouble positioning the Google +1 button on my website. The div is as follows: <div class="g-plusone"></div> The CSS I'm using is pretty simple: .g-plusone { position: absolute; top:95px; left:715px; } I know for a fact that the div in question is being accessed. What's strange is that other social sharing buttons, such as the FB like below follow the same syntax and are positioned perfectly. .fb-like { position: absolute; top:62px; left:715px; } Any ideas?

Any help would be very appreciated. http://www.buffalostreetbooks.com/events CSS: body { font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; background-color: #692022; background-image:url("http://www.buffalostreetbooks.com/wp-content/themes/autumn-leaves/images/repeatflower.png"); } body,h1#blog-title { margin: 0; padding: 0; } a { color: blue; } a:hover { color: #FF8C00; } a img { border: 0 none; } #wrapper { width: 960px; margin: 0 auto; background-color: #F4FBF4; border-left: 1px solid #ccc; border-right: 1px solid #ccc; } #header { background-image:url("http://www.buffalostreetbooks.com/wp-content/themes/autumn-leaves/images/headertime.png"); width:768px; height: 200px; } #inner-header { padding: 125px 1em 0; } h1#blog-title { font-size: 2em; } h1#blog-title a { color: #800000; } .entry-title a { color: #CD853F; } h1#blog-title a, .entry-title a, #footer a { text-decoration: none; } h1#blog-title a:hover, .entry-title a:hover, #footer a:hover { text-decoration: underline; } div.skip-link { display: none; } #menu { border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; } #menu a { color: #000; } #menu a:hover { text-decoration: underline; } #menu li.current_page_item a, #menu li.current_page_item a:hover { background-color: #DFC28B; text-decoration: none; } #content { padding: 1em; width:600px; } .entry-title { font-size: 1.5em; margin: 1em 0 0 0; } abbr.published { color: #666; border: 0 none; } .entry-meta, .entry-date { color: #666; } #comments-list .avatar { float: left; margin-right: 1em; } #comments-list .n { font-weight: bold; } .entry-meta, .comment-meta { font-style: italic; } #comments-list p { clear: left; } #primary { padding-left: 1em; font-size: 0.9em; border-left: 1px solid #ccc; border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; background-color: #FFFACD; } #footer { text-align: center; font-size: 0.8em; border-top: 1px solid #ccc; border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; margin-bottom: 1em; } #inner-footer { padding: 1em 0; } .entry-meta, .entry-meta a, .comment-meta, .comment-meta a, .sidebar, .sidebar a, #footer, #footer a { color: #666; } /* LAYOUT: Two-Column (Right) DESCRIPTION: Two-column fluid layout with one sidebars right of content */ div#container { margin:0 0 0 0; width:960px; height:100%; } div#content { margin:0 0 0 0; } div.sidebar { overflow:hidden; width:280px; min-height:500px; clear:both; } div#secondary { clear:right; } div#footer { clear:both; width:100%; } /* Just some example content */ div#menu { height:2em; width:100%; } div#menu ul,div#menu ul ul { line-height:2em; list-style:none; margin:0; padding:0; } div#menu ul a { display:block; margin-right:1em; padding:0 0.5em; text-decoration:none; } div#menu ul ul ul a { font-style:italic; } div#menu ul li ul { left:-999em; position:absolute; } div#menu ul li:hover ul { left:auto; } .entry-title,.entry-meta { clear:both; } div#primary { } form#commentform .form-label { margin:1em 0 0; } form#commentform span.required { background:#fff; color:#c30; } form#commentform,form#commentform p { padding:0; } input#author,input#email,input#url,textarea#comme nt { padding:0.2em; } div.comments ol li { margin:0 0 3.5em; } textarea#comment { height:13em; margin:0 0 0.5em; overflow:auto; width:66%; } .alignright,img.alignright{ float:right; margin:1em 0 0 1em; } .alignleft,img.alignleft{ float:left; margin:1em 1em 0 0; } .aligncenter,img.aligncenter{ display:block; margin:1em auto; text-align:center; } div.gallery { clear:both; height:180px; margin:1em 0; width:100%; } p.wp-caption-text{ font-style:italic; } div.gallery dl{ margin:1em auto; overflow:hidden; text-align:center; } div.gallery dl.gallery-columns-1 { width:100%; } div.gallery dl.gallery-columns-2 { width:49%; } div.gallery dl.gallery-columns-3 { width:33%; } div.gallery dl.gallery-columns-4 { width:24%; } div.gallery dl.gallery-columns-5 { width:19%; } div#nav-above { margin-bottom:1em; } div#nav-below { margin-top:1em; } div#nav-images { height:150px; margin:1em 0; } div.navigation { height:1.25em; } div.navigation div.nav-next { float:right; text-align:right; } div.sidebar h3 { font-size:1.2em; } div.sidebar input#s { width:7em; } div.sidebar li { list-style:none; margin:0 0 2em; } div.sidebar li form { margin:0.2em 0 0; padding:0; } div.sidebar ul ul { margin:0 0 0 2em; } div.sidebar ul ul li { list-style:disc; margin:0; } div.sidebar ul ul ul { margin:0 0 0 0.5em; } div.sidebar ul ul ul li { list-style:circle; } div#menu ul li,div.gallery dl,div.navigation div.nav-previous { float:left; } input#author,input#email,input#url,div.navigation div { width:50%; } div.gallery *,div.sidebar div,div.sidebar h3,div.sidebar ul { margin:0; padding:0; }

  • Niceforms radio buttons are shown on wrong position

    - by fvant
    When i am using Niceforms the normal text inputs and buttons work great and i even managed to get a custom theme for them based on the provided sample psd. But when i use radiobuttons/checkboxes, they get shown some where completely different than the labels. This happens consistently on FF,Chrome and Safari. As soon as i put any positioning css (a float:left or even a ) in the page the radiobuttons break.

  • Easyslider not cooperating

    - by SiD
    First time I've used it. had it working but suddenly it's gone. It seems temperamental, sometimes works grand, a refresh then breaks it. It doesn't expand to the full height and screws up the positioning of the image and the corresponding copy. Any help much appreciated. See code here: http://www.bigfootwalk.com/route.html

  • dximagetransform.matrix, absolutely position child elements not rotating in IE 8 standards mode

    - by davydka
    I've looked all over for more information on this, and would like to know why it happens. Here's the code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html> <head> </head> <body> <div style="position:absolute; top:200px; left:200px; height:200px; width:200px; border:1px solid black; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Matrix(sizingMethod='auto expand', M11=0.9886188373396114, M12=-0.15044199698646263, M21=0.15044199698646263, M22=0.9886188373396114);"> <div style="position:absolute; top:10px; left:10px; border:1px solid darkblue;"> I do not rotate in IE 8. </div> </div> </body> </html> The problem is that absolutely or relatively positioned elements within a div that has been rotated using MS's dximagetransform.matrix do not inherit the transformation in IE 8. IE 6 & 7 render correctly, and I can solve the IE8 problem by triggering compatibility mode, but I'd rather not do that. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm using css3 transform on other browsers and using dximagetransform.matrix to achieve this effect in IE. EDIT: Added the opening html tag. Problem still exists. http://i45.tinypic.com/nf4gmq.png

  • Why does my Google maps api v3 and side panel not fill my page upon resizing?

    - by Gavin
    I'm developing a web page and I have a side panel on the left with a search bar and a Google maps api v3 filling the rest of the page to the right. When I make the browser very small vertically, there is a white space between the side panel and the map, and the bottom of the browser. However, the text continues to the bottom of the browser. It looks like: Here's my css code: <style type="text/css"> body {margin:0;} #panel {height:100%; width:300px; position:absolute; padding:0;background-color:#8C95A0;} #header {padding:2px; text-align:center} #address_instruction {position:relative; top:7%; padding:2px; text-align:center} #geocoder {position:relative; top:8%; padding:2px; text-align:center} #toggle_instruction {position:relative; top:22%; padding:2px; text-align:center} #layers {position:relative; top:25%; padding:2px; text-align:center} #layer0 {padding:2px; text-align:center} #layer1 {padding:2px; text-align:center} #layer2 {padding:2px; text-align:center} #link {top:50%; position:relative; padding:2px; text-align:center} #map_canvas {height:100%; left:300px; right:0px; position:absolute; padding:0;} </style> The IDs within #panel refer to the items on the left hand side in the panel. Why don't the side panel background color and map extend to the bottom of the browser?

    Hi, Here is my working page. I attached buttons to white bishop and you can move around but left images are overlapped by right images. I think the problem is with CSS. The brief structure is here. <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $('#top').click(function(){ $('#p81').animate({top: "-=64px"}, 100); }); </script> <style> div.chess_board{ height: 512px; position: relative; width: 512px; } div.chess_square{ height:64px; position: absolute; width:64px; } div.chess_square.white { background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #ffffff; } . . . div.chess_piece{ background-image: url("sprite.png"); height: 64px; width: 64px; position: absolute; } div.chess_piece.bishot.white{ background-position: -64px 0; } </style> <div class="chess_board"> <div id="b81" class="chess_square white" style="top: 448px; left: 64px;"> <div class="chess_square_inner"></div> <div id="p81" class="chess_piece bishot white"></div> </div> </div> <input type="button" id="top" value="top" />

  • Car animations in Frogger on Javascript

    - by Mijoro Nicolas Rasoanaivo
    I have to finish a Frogger game in Javascript for my engineering school degree, but I don't know how to animate the cars. It takes me too much time and too much code lines right here.
