• Can't enable Bluetooth 13.10

  I'm a new user to Ubuntu. I previously installed Xubuntu 13.04 on my Compaq nx8420 and was able to use Bluetooth with no issues. I recently performed a clean install of Ubuntu 13.10 (not Xubuntu), and now can't enable bluetooth. I go to the default Bluetooth app, move the slider to 'On' and it slides straight back to 'Off'. Do I need to install any extra packages or use an alternative app to get Bluetooth working? I can't think of a reason why it would work in Xubuntu 13.04, but not Ubuntu 13.10. If the tape had such a ring, the tape drive allowed writing to the tape... if not, it only allowed read access. Why was the choice to design the system in this way? Why not have a "write protect ring" instead, with the opposite effect?

  With release 12.2.4 for non-referenced RMAs, Order Management will allow you to configure the model from Sales Order / Quick Sales Order windows. This is only allowable when profile  OM: Enable Configuration UI for RMA is set to Yes.  All selected options must be returnable, as well as all included items. Order Management explodes included items and creates options and option classes in a way similar to outbound orders. The application creates all selected components with same line number but different option/component number.  Additionally, the application does not allow re-configuration and/or deletion of any line if any line in the same configuration is received, fulfilled, closed, cancelled, or split. On http://help.ubuntu.com/community/FreeNX under the section: Installing the FreeNX server on Ubuntu Karmic (9.10) and higher, step #2, bjorn-nostvold erroneously changed on 2013-01-24 "add-apt-repository" to "apt-add-repository". The original "add-apt-repository" is correct - at least on my Karmic (9.10) version of Ubuntu. By the number of confused people I've found via google search, this seems to be throwing off a lot of people, myself included.

• If I enable/disable my wireless device, my computer will panic

  Now, I use Debian 6.0.6 instead of Fedora 16/17. But I still sustain the problem of my wireless problem. If I enable/disable my laptop wireless device or my usb wifi adaptor, my laptop will panic. It seems like all the processes stop at that time and I have to restart my laptop directly. P.S. I think I installed the drivers correctly and the linux kernel may have some bugs. For example, when I unplug my usb wifi adaptor or I use this command, ifdown wlan0 I encounter this problem. • Syanptics Touchpad Won't Re-enable

  I disabled my Synaptics touchpad while a key on my keyboard and now I can't get it to work again. When I press that key again it says the touchpad turns back on but will not work at all. Rebooting doesn't help, and I tried installing touchpad-indicator but when I try to enable from there it says that it enables, but the icon remains like it's disabled. The odd thing is that it works on the lock screen so I know the drivers aren't messed up, it's just a setting. Also, the touchpad works on guest mode but still nothing on my account. I tried using gconf to set the touchpad_enable to true and it worked, it sure set it. Doesn't make a difference though, my touchpad is still useless. Terminal commands I've used: gconftool-2 --set --type boolean /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled true synclient Touchpadoff=0 modprobe psmouse

• How to Quickly Add Multiple IP Addresses to Windows Servers

  If you have ever added multiple IP addresses to a single Windows server, going through the graphical interface is an incredible pain as each IP must be added manually, each in a new dialog box. Here’s a simple solution. Needless to say, this can be incredibly monotonous and time consuming if you are adding more than a few IP addresses. Thankfully, there is a much easier way which allows you to add an entire subnet (or more) in seconds. Adding an IP Address from the Command Line Windows includes the “netsh” command which allows you to configure just about any aspect of your network connections. If you view the accepted parameters using “netsh /?” you will be presented with a list of commands each which have their own list of commands (and so on). For the purpose of adding IP addresses, we are interested in this string of parameters: netsh interface ipv4 add address Note: For Windows Server 2003/XP and earlier, “ipv4″ should be replaced with just “ip” in the netsh command. If you view the help information, you can see the full list of accepted parameters but for the most part what you will be interested in is something like this: netsh interface ipv4 add address “Local Area Connection” 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0 The above command adds the IP Address 192.168.1.2 (with Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0) to the connection titled “Local Area Network”. Adding Multiple IP Addresses at Once When we accompany a netsh command with the FOR /L loop, we can quickly add multiple IP addresses. The syntax for the FOR /L loop looks like this: FOR /L %variable IN (start,step,end) DO command So we could easily add every IP address from an entire subnet using this command: FOR /L %A IN (0,1,255) DO netsh interface ipv4 add address “Local Area Connection” 192.168.1.%A 255.255.255.0 This command takes about 20 seconds to run, where adding the same number of IP addresses manually would take significantly longer. When I go to the Update Manager and tell it to CHECK for updates it throws me a PPA error. To solve the error I add the same PPA again. Why do I have to add the PPA again (This also can be done by adding the received key alone with apt-key) but why does this problem happen anyway.

  We use Visual Studio 2005 here, and in an attempt to improve the documentation of our source, we're looking for a Visual Studio add-in that will allow images to be viewed in line with source from within the IDE. For example, the use case I'd like to fit is the following: In the directory in which my source lives, I save my image file my_image.png. In the source file, I write a comment of the form /// @image my_image.png The add-in allows me to toggle between seeing the text /// @image my_image.png and viewing the actual image within the code editing window, inline with whatever source surrounds it. Does anyone know of an existing add-in for VS 2005? If not, does the VS add-in api allow for such functionality? Thanks!

  I've got the following puppet service: service { "[email protected]": provider => systemd, ensure => running, enable => true, } When I try to apply this configuration on my client, it throws the following error: err: /Stage[main]//Node[puppetclient]/Service[[email protected]]/enable: change from false to true failed: Could not enable [email protected]: The service is running fine and I can make sure it's started on system boot by adding a symlink to getty.target.wants: ln -s /lib/systemd/system/[email protected] /etc/systemd/system/getty.target.wants/[email protected] Of source, I could go ahead and remove "enable = true" from the service definition and include a the symlink manually in the puppet configuration, but shouldn't puppet take care of this? Am I doing something terribly wrong?

  I recently got email from old friend who told me that when he tries to execute SSIS package it fails with some identity error. After some debugging and opening his package we figure out that he has following issue. Let us see what kind of set up he had on his package. Source Table with Identity column Destination Table with Identity column Following checkbox was disabled in Import Expert Wizard (as per the image below) What did we do is we enabled the checkbox described as above and we fixed the problem he was having due to insertion in identity column. The reason he was facing this error because his destination table had IDENTITY property which will not allow any  insert from user. This value is automatically generated by system when new values are inserted in the table. However, when user manually tries to insert value in the table, it stops them and throws an error. As we enabled the checkbox “Enable Identity Insert”, this feature allowed the values to be insert in the identity field and this way from source database exact identity values were moved to destination table. Let me know if this blog post was easy to understand.
