  • Google Maps within a dynamically loaded jquery Accordion

    - by marr75
I'm trying to load a google map within a jquery ui accordion with contents loaded by ajax. $("h2", "#accordion").click(function(e) { var contentDiv = $(this).next("div"); if (contentDiv.children().length == 1) { contentDiv.load($(this).find("a").attr("href")); contentDiv.ready(function(){ var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(-34.397, 150.644); var myOptions = { zoom: 8, center: latlng, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP }; var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), myOptions); }) } }); That's my current code (Google Maps API V3), but it redirects to the url of the href when I click currently, obviously with no google map because there's no javascript in this response. If I comment out the map line everything works fine (except the map itself).

  • How to change the cell color of a jquery datepicker

    - by MazarD
Hi, I have a jquery datepicker and I need to be able to change the background color for the selected cell date, I'm trying with something like: $("#fecha").datepicker({ onSelect: function(value, date) { alert(date.css()); } }); hoping that the date parameter refers to the selected cell, but it doesn't seem to work. Any suggestion? //Edit: The solution should let me have different cells with different colors setted dinamically, this is why I'm trying with onSelect instead of changing the css directly. The purpose is to have a calender with events established by the user. Thanks in advance.

  • jQuery validate + ajaxSubmit on multiple forms

    - by demogar
Hello there. I'm trying to validate multiple forms in one single page with the jQuery validation plugin but it validates only the first form in the page. Here is my code: $('form.reply_form').validate({ submitHandler: function(form) { $(form).ajaxSubmit(optionsReplies); return false; } }); Is for a list of reply forms in the page (image facebook). If I try to use the third form, for example, it validates the first one and if the first one is blank it wont submit. Thank you in advance.

  • Use jQuery Fancybox(lightbox type dialog) with dynamically loaded links

    - by Pjack
I'm trying to bind Fancy box links so that when the new links are created it will still work. I've seen a few other question on here but not really answered. This is what I'm trying to do. jQuery("a#[id^='domore_']").fancybox({ 'autoDimensions' : false, 'width' : 'auto', 'height' : 'auto' }); This works fine but when the page or links are reloaded by ajax it doesn't work. I tried using live() but I couldn't get it to work. How do you rebind or implement live on fancybox? Any way to do this? Thanks

  • How to get Jquery form plugin and Jquery validation to work together.

    - by Matthew
Hello guys, I was hoping someone can shed some light on what might be occurring on my page. Okay what I currently have on my page is a simple form that collects first name, last name, city, state and email. Once submitted it will hit a PHP page that updates our DB and echo's back to the designted div with a class of .response. I am using jquery.validation and placing that dynamic function within the submitHandler like so: submitHandler: function(form) { $(form).ajaxSubmit({ target: '.response', // target element(s) to be updated with server response resetForm: true, success: function() { $('#commentform').hide(); $('.response').show(); } }); So what I am getting is a div that is not being populated with the echo from my php file in FF and in IE I am getting the message of thank you but the page is taking me to the update.php script in which I have the form action pointing to. I am not sure what I am missing... Thanks, Matt

  • jQuery ajax not preloading images

    - by George Wiscombe
I have a list of galleries, when you click on the title of a gallery it pulls in the contents (HTML with images). When the content is pulled in it preloads the html but not the images, any ideas? This is the JavaScript i'm using: $('#ajax-load').ajaxStart(function() { $(this).show(); }).ajaxStop(function() { $(this).hide();}); // PORTFOLIO SECTION // Hide project details on load $('.project > .details').hide(); // Slide details up / down on click $('.ajax > .header').click(function () { if ($(this).siblings(".details").is(":hidden")) { var detailUrl = $(this).find("a").attr("href"); var $details = $(this).siblings(".details"); $.ajax({ url: detailUrl, data: "", type: "GET", success: function(data) { $details.empty(); $details.html(data); $details.find("ul.project-nav").tabs($details.find(".pane"), {effect: 'fade'}); $details.slideDown("slow"); }}); } else {$(this).siblings(".details").slideUp();} return false; }); You can see this demonstrated at http://www.georgewiscombe.com Thanks in advance!

  • Jquery UI Autocomplete widget conflict qith jqeury.menu widget - how can I solve it?

    - by JK
My app already has a completed menu using jquery.menu.js found at http://wiki.jqueryui.com/Menu. I'm now also trying to add the jquery autocomplete widget from jquery ui 1.8.1 - but both of these have a .menu() function that conflicts with each other. If I put jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.js first in the head, then autocomplete works but the menu does not. If I put jquery-menu.js first in the head, then the menu works but autocomplete doesnt. Is there a way to solve this without editing either plugin? (If I edit, I will probably lose those changes the next time either plugin is upgraded)

  • Complex Selectors with jQuery Delegate

    - by Keith Rousseau
Is there a restriction on the complexity of selectors that can be used with delegate in jQuery 1.4.2? This works for me: $('.activeTabsList').delegate('.activeTabsListItem', 'click', function() { alert('here'); }); This does not work: $('.activeTabsList').delegate('.activeTabsListItem:not(.selected)', 'click', function() { alert('here'); }); As you can probably assume, there is only 1 item at a time that has the selected class. When I click the other tabs, my delegate handler is still not fired.

  • jquery datepicker predefined date

    - by r3try
This might seem like a stupid easy question to some of you, but i'm new to jquery and can't get my datepicker to work like it should. This is my textbox where the datepicker is attached to: <asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="StartMonth" AutoPostBack="true" class="month-picker" /> and here is how i attach the datepicker. (I have multiple TextBoxes where the datepicker should be attached to, so i used the class attribute instead of the id.) $(".month-picker").datepicker({ dateFormat: 'MM yy', changeYear: true, yearRange: '-9:+9' }); What i want to archive is when i click into the textbox where the text is "August 2012" it should set the pre-selected date of the datepicker to this date. Can anyone help? Kind regards.

  • Jquery - Forms Plugin, Dynamic Tabs

    - by user177874
Hi guys, I am using JQuery UI tabs. When i create a tab using the "$("#" + target).tabs('add', url, title);" method it opens a tab and calls an ajax form correctly.. Now the problem exists when i open an identical tab containing the identical form. When the form is submitted using the forms plugin, things mess up. I am presuming this is due to multiple areas having the same div id and so the form plugin does not know which to update.. Is there a work around for this at all ??

Given the html link element below: <a id="testLink" href="#">Test Link</a> Normally, we can make it into button using code below: $('#testLink').button(); What if I want to instantiate the button with string, for example: var widget='button'; $('#testLink').[widget](); Of course the code block above is not working (It is just for illustration purpose only), otherwise you will not see this question. Please advice. Thanks, Chee Kin

  • What Are Basic Tools For A New Project?

    - by Morgan Cheng
For a long time, I thought that to start a new project we only need 3 basic tools. 1) A Build System (e.g. Maven & CruiseControl) 2) A Version Control System (e.g. CVS & SVN & GIT) 3) A Bug Tracking System (e.g. Bugzilla) Yesterday, a senior guy told me that we need at least one thing more. That is KPI(Key Performance Index). Without KPI, it is impossible to measure whether the project is progressing well or not. KPI is kind of SOFT tool compared to Maven/SVN/Bugzilla. I believe since I missed SOFT tools, there must be some other kind of tools I missed. So, anybody get some ideas what other basic tools necessary for a new project?

  • JQuery validation - how to set the title attribute to the error message

    - by JK
    In JQuery validation the default behavior on an error is to create a label like so: <label for="FirstName" generated="true" class="error">This field is required.</label> Is it possible to change it so that it will output this instead (with a title attribute set to the error message)? <label for="FirstName" generated="true" class="error" title="This field is required.">This field is required.</label> I've tried the highlight method, but the label has not been created yet: $("#form").validate({ highlight: function (element, errorClass) { var label = $("label[for=" + element.id + "]"); // but label doesn't exist yet so this doesnt work if (label && label.length > 0) { // label.length is always 0 label.attr('title', label.text()); } } });

  • jQuery UI sortable on select options

    - by user1038814
I'm trying to get jQuery UI default sortable to work on options in a select multi list box but can't seem to get it working. Can this work with a select option? I've only seen examples with <li> everywhere. Here's my JavaScript: $(function() { $( "#secondSelectms2side__dx" ).sortable(); $( "#secondSelectms2side__dx" ).disableSelection(); }); And the HTML: <select title="" name="secondSelectms2side__dx" id="secondSelectms2side__dx" size="8" multiple="multiple"> <option value="4">asdsdsds</option> <option value="10">bsdsdsdsd</option> <option value="2">csdsdsds</option> </select>? • Free tools versus paid tools.

    - by Dennis Vroegop
We live in a strange world. Information should be free. Tools should be free. Software should be free (and I mean free as in free beer, not as in free speech). Of course, since I make my living (and pay my mortgage) by writing software I tend to disagree. Or rather: I want to get paid for the things I do in the daytime. Next to that I also spend time on projects I feel are valuable for the community, which I do for free. The reason I can do that is because I get paid enough in the daytime to afford that time. It gives me a good feeling, I help others and it’s fun to do. But the baseline is: I get paid to write software. I am sure this goes for a lot of other developers. We get paid for what we do during the daytime and spend our free time giving back. So why does everyone always make a fuzz when a company suddenly starts to charge for software? To me, this seems like a very reasonable decision. Companies need money: they have staff to pay, buildings to rent, coffee to buy, etc. All of this doesn’t come free so it makes sense that they charge their customers for the things they produce. I know there’s a very big Open Source market out there, where companies give away (parts of) their software and get revenue out of the services they provide. But this doesn’t work if your product doesn’t need services. If you build a great tool that is very easy to use, and you give it away for free you won’t get any money by selling services that no user of your tool really needs. So what do you do? You charge money for your tool. It’s either that or stop developing the tool and turn to other, more profitable projects. Like it or not, that’s simple economics at work. You have something other people want, so you charge them for it. This week it was announced that what I believe is the most used tool for .net developers (besides Visual Studio of course),namely Red Gates .net reflector, will stop being a free tool. They will charge you $35 for the next version. Suddenly twitter was on fire and everyone was mad about it. But why? The tool is downloaded by so many developers that it must be valuable to them. I know of no serious .net developer who hasn’t got it on his or her machine. So apparently the tool gives them something they need. So why do they expect it to be free? There are developers out there maintaining and extending the tool, building new and better versions of it. And the price? $35 doesn’t seem much. If I think of the time the tool saved me the 35 dollars were earned back in a day. If by spending this amount of money I can rely on great software that helps me do my job better and faster, I have no problems by spending it. I know that there is a great team behind it, (the Red Gate tools are a must have when developing SQL systems, for instance), and I do believe they are in their right to charge this. So.. there you have it. This is of course, my opinion. You may think otherwise. Please let me know in the comments what you think! Tags van Technorati: redgate, reflector, opensource

  • JQuery UI Autocomplete Syntax

    - by djs22
Can someone help me understand the following code? I found it here. It takes advantage of the JQuery UI Autocomplete with a remote source. I've commented the code as best I can and a more precise question follows it. $( "#city" ).autocomplete({ source: function( request, response ) { //request is an objet which contains the user input so far // response is a callback expecting an argument with the values to autocomplete with $.ajax({ url: "http://ws.geonames.org/searchJSON", //where is script located dataType: "jsonp", //type of data we send the script data: { //what data do we send the script featureClass: "P", style: "full", maxRows: 12, name_startsWith: request.term }, success: function( data ) { //CONFUSED! response( $.map( data.geonames, function( item ) { return { label: item.name+(item.adminName1 ? ","+item.adminName1:"")+","+item.countryName, value: item.name } } ) ); } }); } }); As you can see, I don't understand the use of the success function and the response callback. I know the success function literal is an AJAX option which is called when the AJAX query returns. In this case, it seems to encapsulate a call to the response callback? Which is defined where? I thought by definition of a callback, it should be called on its own? Thanks!

  • JSON and jQuery.ajax

    - by Andreas
Hello, im trying to use the jQuery UI autocomplete to communitate with a webservice with responseformate JSON, but i am unable to do so. My webservice is not even executed, the path should be correct since the error message does not complain about this. What strikes me is the headers, response is soap but request is json, is it supposed to be like this? Response Headersvisa källkod Content-Type application/soap+xml; charset=utf-8 Request Headersvisa källkod Accept application/json, text/javascript, */* Content-Type application/json; charset=utf-8 The error message i get is as follows (sorry for the huge message, but it might be of importance): soap:ReceiverSystem.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.Xml.XmlException: Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1. at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(Exception e) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(String res, String arg) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseRootLevelWhitespace() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseDocumentContent() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Read() at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.Read() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapServerProtocol.SoapEnvelopeReader.Read() at System.Xml.XmlReader.MoveToContent() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapServerProtocol.SoapEnvelopeReader.MoveToContent() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapServerProtocolHelper.GetRequestElement() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.Soap12ServerProtocolHelper.RouteRequest() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapServerProtocol.RouteRequest(SoapServerMessage message) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapServerProtocol.Initialize() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.ServerProtocolFactory.Create(Type type, HttpContext context, HttpRequest request, HttpResponse response, Boolean& abortProcessing) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- This is my code: $('selector').autocomplete({ source: function(request, response) { $.ajax({ url: "../WebService/Member.asmx", dataType: "json", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", type: "POST", data: JSON.stringify({prefixText: request.term}), success: function(data) { alert('success'); }, error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown){ alert('error'); } }) }, minLength: 1, select: function(event, ui) { } }); And my webservice looks like this: [WebService(Namespace = "http://tempuri.org/")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] [System.ComponentModel.ToolboxItem(false)] [ScriptService] public class Member : WebService { [WebMethod(EnableSession = true)] [ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)] public string[] GetMembers(string prefixText) { code code code } } What am i doing wrong? • Forcing an item to remain in place in a jQuery UI Sortable list

    - by calumbrodie
I've set up a jQuery sortable list but I need to be able to keep some items in the sortable 'fixed' in place and for the other items to sort around them. I thought that there would be built in methods to achieve this, alas this is not the case. I'm able to set up the list and not include the items in question: <ul id="fruit"> <li class="fixed">apples</li> <li>oranges</li> <li>bananas</li> <li>pineapples</li> <li>grapes</li> <li class="fixed">pears</li> <li>mango</li> </ul> <script type="text/javascript"> $('#fruit').sortable({items: "li:not('.fixed')"}) </script> This stops me from drag/dropping these items but they still move if the items around them are sorted. There may be a way to do this using the many callbacks that this method has but I've been unable to work this out. Maybe this method would be a good addition to the UI Sortable options?
