  • c# catch clipboard changes, wont work if form minimized to tray

    Hi .. i have a problem using the "Catch Clipboard Events code" found on this link : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/621577/clipboard-event-c/2487582#2487582 the code works great only if the form stays in the foreground, not minimized to tray BUT: if you add a notifyicon and minimize the form to tray and turn the showintaskbar to false (so that you only have an icon in the tray), the program wont catch any clipboard changes anymore ... even if you maximize the form back, it wont work again ...you have to restart the program .. any idea on how to solve this issue !? how can i catch clipboard changes, even if the form is minimized into the tray !? any help is really appreciated ...     OK, I admit it this code will just look weird to you, and that's because it is weird. This is just code to reproduce the behavior, not code I want to use. class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { try { Activator.CreateInstance(typeof(Func<int>), new object[] { new object(), IntPtr.Zero }); } catch { Console.WriteLine("This won't print!"); } Console.Write("Actually this will not print either!"); Console.ReadLine(); } } No matter what exception type I try to catch (the actual exception thrown is an ArgumentException as far as I can tell) the code inside the catch block will not execute. Actually execution will just stop at the Activator.CreateInstance-line.

    Hi, I was expecting an compilation error in the following program because of the throw statement in the catch block as IOException is a checked exception and it is not caught by another try block within the catch block. But I am getting "Hurray!" printed. Any explanation would be much appreciated.     When using TRY-CATCH in JavaScript, how to get the line number of the line that caused the error? On many browsers, the below code will work great and I will get the stack trace that points to the actual line that throw the exception. However, some browsers do not have "e.stack". Iphone's safari is one example.   • Is it safe to catch EXCEPTION_GUARD_PAGE

    Environment is VC++ 9 on various Win platforms (XP and later) I'm writing an unhandled exception handler. I have a vague recollection from my kernel days that it was bad to catch an EXCEPTION_GUARD_PAGE, as this was generated to tell the OS to enlarge the stack. My question is twofold: Can such an exception occur in user space? If so, is it safe to catch it? I'm not especially interested in doing anything with it. I just want to know if I need to put special code in to not catch it (as I'm catching everything at the moment).

Now in order to check concurrency condition I tried the following use case opened application in chrome and firefox browser. deleted user in firefox now trying to delete the same user in chrome browser I get exception org.hibernate.StaleObjectStateException .. which is right .. since I am trying to delete an object which doesn't exists.     I am writing an ASP.NET website, which is a new framework for me. I find that I have a try/catch block in literally every method of my codebehind. All these try/catch blocks do is catch the exception and then pop-up an error message to the user. Isn't there some sort of global error handler in ASP.NET? It's worth noting that my error handling is within control (ASCX) pages, and I would like a way to simply get each ASCX to handle its own errors without forcing all error handling just to a single master page or a redirect...

    Hi there, I was wondering if there is a possibility to catch errors like this in C++: object* p = new object; delete p; delete p; //this would cause an error, can I catch this? Can I check if the pointer is valid? Can I catch some exception? I know I could set the pointer p to NULL after the first object deletion. But just imagine you wouldn't do that. I am using VC++ with Visual Studio 2008/2010. Thank you

    I get an error, a red line below the variable intAge in the if-statement in the code. It says the variable is local, but how could it be local when it is declared in the beginning of the code? Does it have to do with the Try/Catch part? The reason why my code looks like it does, is just beacuse I have to use a Try/Catch in the code for this task. How can I do something like this, working around the Java limitation? Is there a way to check that the ex variable is of type T?

Since today's spot price was only 35c / hour, compared with 85c / hour for an on-demand instance, I was wondering: if I just bid a really high price, say $1 / hour, can I effectively be sure of getting a much cheaper long-running instance than an on-demand instance (since the spot instances are only charged by the current spot price) ? I suppose it's theoretically possible for the spot price to go over the on-demand price, but as far as I can tell from the data on the AWS site, the spot price has always been well below that.

    I got a service coded in c# whoes deleted somes web site files hosted on iis, before an update. But sometime when i delete the files, they stay there. If I try to delete them manually, via explorer, the file are not deletable, because they are in state "Delete pending". There is the way my service try to delete the file try { // Enlève tout les attributs sur le fichiers afin de s'assurer que le fichier n'est pas en lecture seul File.SetAttributes(file, FileAttributes.Normal); // Supprime le fichier File.Delete(file); } It's there a way to avoid this state ?   • catch-22 with apt-get

    I'd recently installed a package and discovered my scp stopped working. After removing and installing some things I got it fixed but then I stated getting errors in apt-get about dpkg: error: configuration error: /etc/dpkg/dpkg.cfg.d/multiarch:1: unknown option 'foreign-architecture' so I commented it out and thought that fixed the problem until I discovered the chrome icon in my launcher turned into a ? and chrome no longer worked. I tried to reinstall it and got the apt-get error: "ambiguous package name 'libglib2.0-0' with more than one installed instance" if I try to remove libglib2 I get the error The following packages have unmet dependencies: iceape-browser : Depends: iceape but it is not going to be installed iceape-chatzilla : Depends: iceape (>= 2.7.11) but it is not going to be installed Depends: iceape (<= 2.7.11-1.1~) but it is not going to be installed E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages. so then I tried to remove icape-browser and it complained about the 2 instances of libglinb2. in fact virtually any command I issue does the same thing so I don't know what I can do to untangle things.

  • Can't copy paste on the first try

    When I try to copy and paste something from firefox to say notepad or word, it doesn't work on the first try. That is I go to firefox, select text, right click, select copy, then switch to notepad, right click, select paste, but it pastes not the thing which I copied just now, but whatever was in the clipboard before I copied. If after this I go back to firefox and copy that text again, and then go back to notepad, then it will paste correctly. So in order to copy paste something it takes me 2 tries. This doesn't always happen this way, but only sometimes. So sometimes I can paste on first try, but sometimes it takes me two tries. I am using firefox 7.0.1 and windows 7. Also it is not only with firefox, sometimes the same thing happens when I copy paste from other programs. What could be the reason, and how can I fix this?

    I was just wondering which would be cheaper, using a try catch block for index out of bounds or checking the length of a multi dimensional array and comparing values? I have a feeling it's the length, since I can store the length in a variable and then just do if's which are relatively cheap. I'm just not sure how expensive try-catch is. Thanks!

    I have a custom portlet made for liferay and sometimes it throws an exception. Why it throws exceptions is irrelevant. How to catch exceptions thrown by portlet handler methods in order to email information about them? I know I could do try catching on every handler method but it would be a much more elegant and cleaner solution to catch the exception on a higher level and just email some information about the error. I'm using Spring Portlet MVC, so i got all spring-related niceties at hand.

Then you want your program to continue, so you have to make sure that certain invariants are still in a a good state. However what actually occurs in the system after the exception was "handled" by a catch? The stack has been unwound at that point so how does it get to restore it's state?

    A developer has created a custom control in ASP.NET using VB.NET. The custom control uses a repeater. In certain scenarios, the rpt_ItemDataBound event is encountering a data error. My goal is rather than having the user see the yellow screen of death, give the user a friendlier error explaining exactly what the data error is. I figured I would be able to use a Try/Catch block as shown below throw the exception, however, it appears that the event has nowhere to be thrown to and stops executing at the "End Try" line. Protected Sub rpt_ItemDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.RepeaterItemEventArgs) Handles rpt1.ItemDataBound, rpt2.ItemDataBound Try ProcessBadData... Catch ex As Exception Throw ex End Try End Sub In VB.NET, I can find where the repeater's DataSource is being set, however, I can not find a DataBind event. Any ideas how I can capture the exception in this ASCX control so I can report it to the user?
