  • Flex 4: Loading XML into a Model Actionsript Class

    I'm trying to create an actionscript class to serve as a data model for my Flex app. I already have a formatted XML file to read from, and when I was simply declaring the data service in my MXML app I used this code inside the declarations: I'm now trying to create a model class and can't seem to get the same functionality. I've tried importing mx.rpc.http.HTTPService but i think this is different. And using the XML class doesn't seem to allow the ability to define a source url. I'm assuming that I am able to declare a public var inside my class that will read this XML source file as I had done in the main app. If this is possible, how do I do it?

I tried var mc = MovieClip(loader.loaderContentInfo.content); mc.width = 320; mc.height = 240; this gives null object error.

    I got a ton of movieclips in a class. Is there a more efficient way to apply a function to every instance in the class other than this? var textArray:Array = [ interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin1, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin2, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin3, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin4, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin5, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin6, interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin7, //... ... ... interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin15 ]; for each (var interludeText:MovieClip in interludeBeginText) { interludeText.alpha = 0 //clear all text first } Also for some reason this doesn't work: interludes.interludeIntro.alpha = 0; It permanently turns that class invisible, even if I try to make specific instances visible later with: interludes.interludeIntro.interludeBegin1.alpha = 1; I have NO idea why the above doesn't work. I want to turn every single instance in the class interludeIntro invisible, but I want to turn specific instances visible later. (btw I have no idea how to insert code on this website, pressing "code" doesn't do anything, so pardon the bad formatting)

I am trying to implement Find method for this FakeDbSet class but having hard time to write it in a generic way. Below is my attempts for writing this method but since it does not know about Id been Guid type, I am getting compilation error on m.Id call.   • Why delegate types are derived from MulticastDelegate class why not it directly derive from Delegate class?

    I have a very basic question regarding delegate types. I compared the memebers of Delegate and MulticastDelegate classes in object browser and I couldn't find any new additional member present in MulticastDelegate. I also noticed that the Delegate class has GetInvocationList virtual method. So I assume that the Delegate class should have the capability to hold references to multiple methods. If my assumption is correct I wonder why not custom delegate types directly derive from the Delegate class instead of MulticastDelegate class. Not sure what I am missing here. Please help me understand the difference.
