  • jQuery: Targeting elements added via *non-jQuery* AJAX before any Javascript events fire? Beyond th

    Working on a Wicket application that adds markup to the DOM after onLoad via Wicket's built-in AJAX for an auto-complete widget. We have an IE6 glitch that means I need to reposition the markup coming in, and I am trying to avoid tampering with the Wicket javascript... blah blah blah... here's what I'm trying to do: New markup arrives in the DOM (I don't have access to a callback) Somehow I know this, so I fire my code. I tried this, hoping the new tags would trigger onLoad events: $("selectorForNewMarkup").live("onLoad", function(){ //using jQuery 1.4.1 //my code }); ...but have become educated that onLoad only fires on the initial page load. Is there another event fired when elements are added to the DOM? Or another way to sense changes to the DOM? Everything I've bumped into on similar issues with new markup additions, they have access to the callback function on .load() or similar, or they have a real javascript event to work with and live() works perfectly. Is this a pipe dream?

  • View controller/NIB architecture for non-navigation application with transitions?

    I'm tinkering with an app that doesn't use the UINavigation root view control system, so I don't have natural ownership for each app "view". I essentially have two basic views, a document list view, and a document edit view. I'm playing with UIView animation for getting from a selected document to the edit view. I also have a toolbar that exists in both "views". Because I don't have UINavigation running the show for me, I have a tendency to just throw more and more stuff into one NIB and one view controller that owns the whole container. But now I'm trying to figure out how to segue from the document list view to the edit view if the edit view lives inside a different NIB, preserving the toolbar too. Anyone have thoughts or experience on app structures like this? I find the docs lacking on best practices around code/UI structure for anything except trivial one-screen apps or full-on navigation apps. Thanks!

  • How do I list all non-system stored procedures?

    I want to create a query to list of all user defined stored procedures, excluding the ones that are system stored procedures, considering that: Checking the name like "sp_" doesn't work because there are user stored procedures that start with "sp_". Checking the property is_ms_shipped doesn't work because there are system stored procedures that have that flag = 0, for example: sp_alterdiagram (it is not MSShipped but appears under System Stored Procedures in SQL Server Management Studio). There must be a property, or a flag somewhere since you can see the "System Stored Procedures" in a separate folder in SQL 2005. Does anyone know?   • Google Maps API v3... non-mobile?

    I'm trying to make a Google Maps widget for my website but all of the examples are for full-screen mobile devices. The tutorials work when I copy paste them exactly as shown but they don't seem to work when I want them to only occupy a portion of the page. From what I've read, the v3 is the best API yet (for what I need) because of its speed and compatibility with mobile devices. I plan to make a widget very similar to the MarkerClusterer example from the demo gallery but I can't get it working. Is this a common issue? I know I'm being vague but I would appreciate some help.   • What CSS should I use to create a series of horizontal, non-wrapping blocks?

    I have a set of dynamically generated content - anywhere between 1 and about 25 blocks (each of which I want to be about 250px wide. Clearly, this can run off-screen, but that's fine since my design allows for horizontal scrolling (using jQuery - I don't want the browser to do it with its own scroll bars). So what CSS - cross-browser - is the best approach? Floats seem to wrap unreliably, and the dynamic nature of the content which changes frequently through ajax calls - means that recalculating the container width is not very practical. Other CSS-based option?

  • Where do current (not HTML5) browsers stand on clipboard support for non-text data?

    I don't really know where the line is between the browser itself and HTML/JS here. But let's say I want to write a web-app where I can copy a chunk of data from MSPaint (select, CTRL+c) and paste it into a web-page in some way... ultimately the point is the data goes to the server without me having to save it as a file first. Where are the problems here - browsers or client-side technologies? For instance if JS can't do it, could Flex/Silverlight? Advice on future technology welcome, but doesn't really answer the question - where are we right now with IE/FF/Chrome and JS/Flex/SL?

For convenience I use collect on a collection to gather them together. arr = collection.collect {|item| item.get_array_of_arrays} Now I would like to have a single array that contains all the arrays. Of course I can loop over the array and use the + operator to do that. newarr = [] arr.each {|item| newarr += item} But this is kind of ugly, is there a better way?

  • How do I controll clipping with non-opaque graphics-item's in Qt?

    I have a bunch of QGraphicsSvgItem's in a QGraphicsScene that are drawn connected by QGraphicsLineItem's. This show's a graph of a tree-structure. What I want to do is provide a feature where everything but a selected sub-tree becomes transparent. A kind of "highlight this sub-tree" feature. That part was easy, but the results are ugly because now the lines can be seen through the semi-transparent svg's. I am looking for some way to still clip other QGraphicsItem's in the scene to the svg item's, giving the effect that the svg's are semi-transparent windows to the background.   • How to use PHP-based authentication from non-PHP based AJAX app?

    I've been asked to create a stand-alone webapp using "straight" HTML and Javascript that does user authentication against an existing PHP app (backend is MySQL). Unfortunately, I really don't have a firm grasp on how PHP authentication works, and I'd rather not invest a lot of time in learning PHP just for this particular case. I can see two possibilites so far 1) create a PHP wrapper around my new app and use native PHP authentication (don't like this) 2) create a simple REST-ful webservice around the PHP authentication (don't know how to do this) Anything else I should consider? Help is much appreciated!

  • Does it ever make sense to make a fundamental (non-pointer) parameter const?

    I recently had an exchange with another C++ developer about the following use of const: void Foo(const int bar); He felt that using const in this way was good practice. I argued that it does nothing for the caller of the function (since a copy of the argument was going to be passed, there is no additional guarantee of safety with regard to overwrite). In addition, doing this prevents the implementer of Foo from modifying their private copy of the argument. So, it both mandates and advertises an implementation detail. Not the end of the world, but certainly not something to be recommended as good practice. I'm curious as to what others think on this issue. Edit: OK, I didn't realize that const-ness of the arguments didn't factor into the signature of the function. So, it is possible to mark the arguments as const in the implementation (.cpp), and not in the header (.h) - and the compiler is fine with that. That being the case, I guess the policy should be the same for making local variables const. One could make the argument that having different looking signatures in the header and source file would confuse others (as it would have confused me). While I try to follow the Principle of Least Astonishment with whatever I write, I guess it's reasonable to expect developers to recognize this as legal and useful.

    I would like to set up a Mac buildbot slave, but unfortunately it's not possible to install Mac OS X 10.5 on my XenServer hypervisor. So, I've had an idea, but not quite sure whether or not it'll work. The application is C++, and on Mac it's compile using GNU Make. I have a Mac desktop PC, and I was hoping I could copy the .h and .lib files on to a Linux box, and try to build against the Mac headers: #include <mach-o/dyld.h> #include <AvailabilityMacros.h>

SVN Project B: holds all library files. (other SVN projects get all their libraries from here via external svn) Question: I want to commit foo.jar from A into B.
