    How can I hide the New / Actions / Upload / Settings menus within a list or document library in SharePoint? Note that I need to be able to hide these menus for a particular list definition (template) and not just all lists or document libraries. One possible way that I know of is to register a , and set the ControlClass element to a control that inherits from WebControl. In the WebControl, I can override OnPreRender, which then does this: foreach (Control control in this.Parent.Controls) { if (control.ToString() == "Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.NewMenu") { control.Visible = false; } // etc } This is pretty hacky, and I was just wondering if there is a better way of doing it?

  • superfish dropdowns to be columned when there's many children and no "grandchildren" nodes

    Hi All I have a custom query in dripal, this query is: select count(distinct B.src) from node A, url_alias B where concat('node/',A.nid)= B.src; now, nid in node is primary key and i have made src as an index in url_alias table. after waiting for more than a minute i got this: +-----------------------+ | count(distinct B.src) | +-----------------------+ | 325715 | +-----------------------+ 1 row in set (1 min 24.37 sec) now my question is: why did this query take this long, and how to optimize it??     Hi I have set up ubercart on a site and everything seems ok when adding products and viewing the catalog page however when I click on the product the product view does not include the product image or the price. I have have enabled all fields in admin/store/settings/products/edit/fields however this does not seem to change anything (SKU etc not displayed either, only description, size options, add to cart button and link to category) Can anyone suggest why these may not be showing, Am I looking at completely the wrong config screen?     the situation: a user on the page in question selects a category from a dropdown which then dynamically populates all the users of that category in a second dropdown beside it. all the data is being retrieved using LinqtoSQL and i was wondering if this can be done a) using html.dropdownlist in a strongly typed view? b) using jquery to trigger the ajax request on selected index change instead of a 'populate' button trigger? sorry i dont have code as what i was trying really wasnt working at all. I am having trouble with how to do it conceptually and programatically! will appreciate any links to examples etc greatly! thanks in advance!   • JQuery not copying state dropdown list 1 to DDL2 on checkbox change

    I've looked at similar posts on the subject but none of the recommended solutions have worked for me so I'm not sure where I'm going wrong. I have a billing and shipping address form with a dropdown list for the state. Upon checking/unchecking the "billing address same as shipping" everything copies over except the state dropdown list. The state dropdown list is populated from a SQLDataSource state table.     I've got a site where users follow users they like and can read their latest updates. I'd like to show my users a simple count of how many comments the people they follow have posted in the last 24 hours. I'm having trouble figuring out the query. I have two tables. comment -cid (comment id) -timestamp -uid (id of person who posted the comment) -comment (content of the comment) user_relationships -requester_id (id of the user who followed the person) -requestee_id (id of the person who was followed) In plain english, I think the query is something like this: COUNT the cid.comment from the comments table where uid.comment is equal to requestee_id.user_relationships associated with requester_id.user_relationships value of X. I need to get all the UIDs of people being followed by a given UID from the user_relationship table. Then count up how many comments those people have posted in the last 24 hours and spit that number out. What would this query look like?

    How can I use jQuery for messing with a particular div, but not in the current document - in a variable, that contains HTML? The point is that I want to show a preview of a page (a piece of it's content) in a modal window, when the link to this page is clicked. Well, onClick I load this whole HTML into a variable via JSON and then... how would I find a particular div I need in it? It's gonna be almost impossible to parse it with PHP before converting it into JSON and giving back to jQuery processor because of a deep hierarchy. Basically, is it even possible to do smth like $( 'div#some-id' ).blabla(); not for the current document, but for the document, stored in a variable? Thx everyone in advance.

    I'm trying to gain a truth value to gain panel visibility. I have a view in place in a panel to display a listing of heartbeat messages that belong to a user. The display works but I cannot figure out how to restrict access to the panel based on the user who is viewing the panel. Goal is I want the panel to only be visible to friends and some people with certain roles. The roles I can handle but I don't know enough about PHP to get it working based on friendship status. I vaguely guess it would be something like: logged user is twoway with user being viewed based on current uid argument. I know my example is nothing like the actual code but as I said I don't have much to go on here.

    Hi, I am using a jquery contextmenu plugin for right click menus which I am trying to add to each li element of an unordered list with the ID mailbox. Has anyone had any success in removing these brackets, or adding a different unique identifier?

  • Black screen appears when booting new install of 11.10 on my desktop, cannot access Grub menu to fix

    I installed 11.10 on my desktop PC but get a black screen after the BIOS screen when I try to boot it. I was able to run 10.04.04 on my hard drive before installing 11.10 and I am also able to use 11.10 on my usb pendrive and CD ROM. I've tried unplugging all USB devices before booting and also upgrading from 11.10 to 11.10. Holding the shift key from the BIOS screen doesn't allow me to access the GRUB menu to try: Highlight the first entry, press “e” to edit it. Navigate to words “quiet splash”, delete them and type “nomodeset” in their place (without quotes). Press Ctrl + X to continue boot. Once on the desktop, go to System Administration Additional Drivers and activate the recommended drivers. So running 11.10 on my pendrive, I tried editing /etc/default/grub, commenting out the GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT setting by putting a '#' in front of it to display the grub menu and setting GRUB_TIMEOUT setting to a value greater than or equal to 1 e.g. GRUB_TIMEOUT=10. However, when I run sudo update-grub, I get: /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: cannot find a device for / (is /dev mounted?) I get the same error with update-grub after: sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt and after: sudo grub-install --root-directory=/mnt /dev/sda reboot sudo update-grub Other suggestions to fix the update-grub problem: Open synaptic, then purge all the related grub installed packages and reinstall grub-pc then and finally: sudo update-grub Or use Grub Customizer http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1195275 What would be the best way to approach this? I'm concerned about purging "all the related grub installed packages" but if it's true some files are corrupted this would seem necessary. Also, was I executing the correct commands i.e. with mount and grub-install, before running grub-update?
