• Hibernate saveorUpdate method problem

  Hi all, i am trying to work on with Hibernate (Database side for first time) and some how struck in choosing best possible way to use saveOrUpdate or Save.Update i have a destination POJO class and its other attributes which needs to be updated along with the Destination entity. i am getting an XML file to be imported and i am using the following code to update/save the destination entity along with its attribute classes. try{ getSessionFactory().getCurrentSession().beginTransaction(); getSessionFactory().getCurrentSession().saveOrUpdate(entity); getSessionFactory().getCurrentSession().getTransaction().commit(); } catch(Exception e){ getSessionFactory().getCurrentSession().getTransaction().rollback(); } finally{ getSessionFactory().close(); } everything is working fine untill i am using the same session instance.but later on when i am using the same XML file to update the destination PO for certain attributes it giving me the following error. First of all this example does not print the string but return the function, but that's not my problem. Secondly I can't access to private or protected, because the callback function is a global function and not in the context from the Dog object. Tha't my problem. It's the same as : function greet($greeting, $object) { echo "$greeting, I am a {$self->_color} dog named {$self->_name}."; } And I want : public function greet($greeting) { echo "$greeting, I am a {$self->_color} dog named {$self->_name}."; } Which is from Dog and not global.   I'm going through some AS3 training, but I'm getting a weird error... I'm trying to add an event listener to the end of a motion tween in AS. I've created a tween, highlighted the frames, right clicked and copied the tween as AS and pasted it into the movie clip (I think there's a better way to do this, but I'm not sure what it is...) When I try to add the listener to the end of that code, I get the error. • Why do I get CA1811 when I call a private method from a public method in C++/CLI?

  I've recently upgraded my project from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010. By enabling Code Analysis and building on Release, I'm getting warning CA1811: Avoid uncalled private code. I've managed to reduce the code to this: .h file: public ref class Foo { public: virtual System::String^ ToString() override; private: static System::String^ Bar(); }; .cpp file: String^ Foo::ToString() { return Bar(); } String^ Foo::Bar() { return "abc"; } The warning I get: CA1811 : Microsoft.Performance : 'Foo::Bar(void)' appears to have no upstream public or protected callers. It doesn't matter if Bar() is static or not. I've tried to reproduce it in C# but I can't. I can only reproduce it in C++/CLI. Why do I get this warning? Is this a Visual Studio 2010 bug?

  I work in a location where a single person is responsible for creating and maintaining all stored procedures for SQL servers, and is the conduit between software developers and the database. There are a lot of stored procedures in place, and with a database diagram it is simple enough 90% of the time to figure out what the stored procedure needs for arguments/returns as output. For the other 10% of the time, however, it would be helpful to have a reference. Since the DBA is a busy guy (aren't we all), it would be good to have some program which documents the stored procedures to a file so that the developers can see it without being able to access the SPs themselves. The question is, does anyone know of a good program to accomplish this? Basically what we need is something that gives the name of the SP, the argument list and the output, both with datatypes and a nullable flag.

  When I'm making asmx web service calls from Silverlight, is there any way to have the (generated) SoapClient objects modify the address that they call the service on? Specifically, I'd like to tack on a QueryString value onto each call that the service makes. So if I have DataService.SilverlightServiceSoapClient C = new DataService.SilverlightServiceSoapClient(); Is there any way to do something like: C.Address += "?Foo=Bar"; Which would allow me to, from my WebMethod, say: HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString["foo"]; Obviously I can modify my WebMethods to take this value in as a parameter, but I'd like to avoid doing that if possible.

• Why is sqrt() not a method on Float?

  In Ruby everything is an object. That's why I don't understand why we have the Math module. It seems to me that most (all?) of the functions in the Math module should have been methods on the numeric types like Integer, Float and so on. E.g. instead of Math.sqrt(5) it would make more sense to have 5.sqrt The same goes for sin, cos, tan, log10 and so on. Does anyone know why all these functions ended up in the Math module?

  Regarding over-releasing. Say I have a instance variable defined in Test.h NSString *mystring; In my implementation Test.m I do not initialize the variable mystring anywhere. But I release it in dealloc: -(void)dealloc { [mystring release]; } Is this now over-released? I've been doing the following in dealloc to avoid any issues, however, is this really necessary? -(void)dealloc { if (mystring) [mystring release]; } It seems that [nil release] shouldn't do anything, can someone verify this with class members?
