• Directory.GetFiles returning entire path, I only want the filename?

  This is the code I have set up to scan a directory of files: Dim fileArray() As String fileArray = Directory.GetFiles(System.AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory & "help\") And it successfully gets all files in the directory, but it gets their absolute paths aswell. For example, one of the entries in fileArray() is: F:\Project\Project\bin\x86\Debug\help\book_troubleshoot.html And I want it to just be: book_troubleshoot.html Is there a way to do this without parsing through all the array entries to trim off the path? • Calling a WPF Application and modify exposed properties?

  I have a WPF Keyboard Application, it is developed in such a way that an application could call it and modify its properties to adapt the Keyboard to do what it needs to. Right now I have a file *.Keys.Set which tells the application (on open) to style itself according to that new style. I know this file could be passed as a command line argument into the application. That would not be a problem. My concern is, is there a way via a managed environment to change the properties of the executable as long as they are exposed properly, an example: 'Creates a new instance of the Keyboard Application Dim e_key as new WpfApplication("C:\egt\components\keyboard.exe") 'Sets the style path e_key.SetStylePath("c:\users\joe\apps\me\default.keys.set") e_key.Refresh() 'Applies the style e_key.HideMenu() 'Hides the menu e_key.ShowDeck("PIN") 'Shows the custom "deck" of keyboard keys the developer 'Created in the style application. • Error debugging - Conversion from String to Double

  I'm doing some error debugging trying to get the errors on our website down to a minimum and there seems to be an error that is popping up quite a lot Conversion from string "" to type 'Double' is not valid. I'm unable to replicate this problem but I can see that it is happening. I've been looking through the code in one of the pages and strolled across this Dim varWeek As String If varWeek < 10 Then 'Do something' End If Could this be causing the problem as it is trying to see if a String is less than 10 which is an Integer? As I said before as I am unable to see this error in the first place so changing this to an Integer doesn't change anything on my system. Thanks.

• Setting Nullable Integer to String Containing Nothing yields 0

  I've been pulling my hair out over some unexpected behavior from nullable integers. If I set an Integer to Nothing, it becomes Nothing as expected. If I set an Integer? to a String that is Nothing, it becomes 0! Of course I get this whether I explicitly cast the String to Integer? or not. I realize I could work around this pretty easily but I want to know what I'm missing. Dim NullString As String = Nothing Dim NullableInt As Integer? = CType(NullString, Integer?) 'Expected NullableInt to be Nothing, but it's 0! NullableInt = Nothing 'This works -- NullableInt now contains Nothing. How is this EDIT: Previously I had my code up here so without the explicit conversion to 'Integer?' and everyone seemed to be fixated on that. I want to be clear that this is not an issue that would have been caught by Option Strict On -- check out the accepted answer. This is a quirk of the string-to-integer conversion rules which predate nullable types, but still impact them.

Other than switching to WCF (no time to learn it right now), what is the best way to handle this situation. It looks like I also cannot pass NULLABLE date types.

We have a number of documents that are the same size i.e. 488x320mm, the content within these documents is always positioned relative to the top right of the document but varies in size i.e. 210x330mm, 240x350mm etc. What i need to do is 'find' the content block and move it from its current position to the centre of the sheet. • VS2010 is removing code from designer without warning - causing issues

  I have a WinForm with a pretty complex layout (has lots of controls, panels, etc.) Whenever i open the form the file is automatically checked out from source control and it removes anything in the designer file that refereces my menustrip or statusstrip ie: the following get removed (w/o warning) Me.MyMenuStip.SuspendLayout() Me.MyStatusStrip.SuspendLayout() Me.MyMenuStrip.ResumeLayout(False) Me.MyMenuStrip.PerformLayout() Me.MyStatusStrip.ResumeLayout(False) Me.MyStatusStrip.PerformLayout() The code still builds, but there are no Menu or Status items rendered. Any ideas on what i can do? I do not want to just remove/add the menustrip for instance cause i would loose all of my menu items (and there are a lot) Thanks in advance!

  In my project I have it set up so that all the tables in the DB has the property "id" and then I have the entity objects inherit from the EntityBase class using a repository pattern. • Export GridView to Excel (not working)

  I've spent the last two days trying to get some bloody data to export to Excel. After much research I determined that the best and most common way is using HttpResponse headers as shown in my code below. After stepping through countless times in debug mode, I have confirmed that the data is in fact there and both filtered and sorted the way I want it. However, it does not download as an Excel file, or do anything at all for that matter. I suspect this may have something to do with my UpdatePanel or perhaps the ImageButton not posting back properly, but I'm not sure. What am I doing wrong? Please help me to debug this issue. • Deploying a .Net App Source Control (SVN) over 32-bit AND 64-bit dev stations

  Here is the situation : Our Dev Team has heterogeneous OS systems, scattered between 32-bit and 64-bit. This is not ideal, we are actually planning to homogenize our infrastructure, but in the meantime we have to deal with it. The issue is that when a 32-bit developer checks out a 64-bit solution on SVN, he has to manually change the target platforms all over again to get it compiled (not to mention other side problems) My question is : What clean (though temporary) solution could be addressed in such situation, permitting each developer to keep his default project/platform settings while checking out and in from SVN. I guess that -at least for the first time a project/solution is checked out, a dev still has to tweak the setting manually to compile it properly. After that, according to relevant SVN filters, it is possible to ignore some settings files (which ones, by the way?) I am open to all clever and detailed suggestions. Thanks.

My base page has some properties, eg: IsRole1, IsRole2, currentUserID, Role1Allowed, Role2Allowed. On the init of each page I set the properties "Role1Allowed" and "Role2Allowed" Private Sub Page_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init Role1Allowed = True Role2Allowed= False End Sub The basepage then decides if the user needs redirecting. 'Sample code so not exactly what is going to be, bug gives the idea Protected Overridable Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) If Role1Allowed And Not Role1 Then 'Redirect somewhere End If End Sub The page then must override this pageload if they need anything else in it, but making sure they call the base pageload first.
