  • how to filter files from the root "classes" and "test-classes" folders in Eclipse?

    I am using ClearCase in my application which generates a whole load of ".copyarea.db" files (one in every folder). These cause conflicts when publishing to Tomcat as Eclipse will bundle the "classes" and "test-classes" folders into one JAR (not sure why it does this - as there is no need to have test classes available on the application server). Any folders with the same names will have a separate .copyarea.db in the classes and test-classes branches. I managed to get around this problem in general by adding ".copyarea.db" to the Filtered resources on the Java->Compiler->Building->Output Folder preference page. This stops the file appearing in source output (package/class folders), the vast majority of cases. However there remains the problem of the root folder, i.e. "target/classes/.copyarea.db" and "target/test-classes/.copyarea.db". These files are not filtered as they are not part of the compile task. Just deleting the files manually doesn't help either, as Eclipse expects to find them and doesn't. How can I exclude these ".copyarea.db" files from the root "classes" and "test-classes" folders?

  • How do I deploy a utility with ocx dependency to a test machine without registering the ocx?

    I have a test utility that depends upon an ocx file that is installed/registered on my development machine. We'd like to run this tool on a test machine without polluting the machine with any unnecessary files. Nothing should be installed except the target machine software. Running the tool on a network drive or from a stand-alone directory copied to the test machine would be ideal. But, registering the ocx on the test machine is out of the question. Placing the ocx file in the same directory as the exe doesn't work. No matter what it still gives me this error--"The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem." What else can I try?

    I'm using webflows in Grails and I'm currently writing tests for it. Now, inside I've got something that throws an error so I set a message to the flash scope before redirecting: ... if (some_condition) { flash.message = "my error message" return error() } ... Now, I know that when I'm going to display this in the GSP page, I access the flash message as <g:if test="${message}">... instead of the usual <g:if test="${flash.message}">... So anyway, I'm writing my test and I'm wondering how to test the content of the message? Usually, in normal actions in the controllers, I follow what's written in here . However, since this is a webflow, I can't seem to find the message even if I check controller.flash.message / controller.params.message / controller.message . I've also tried looking at the flow scope... Any ideas on how to see the message then? Thanks a bunch!

  • Where should test classes be stored in the project?

    I build all my web projects at work using RAD/Eclipse, and I'm interested to know where do you guys normally store your test's *.class files. All my web projects have 2 source folders: "src" for source and "test" for testcases. The generated *.class files for both source folders are currently placed under WebContent/WEB-INF/classes folder. I want to separate the test *.class files from the src *.class files for 2 reasons:- There's no point to store them in WebContent/WEB-INF/classes and deploy them in production. Sonar and some other static code analysis tools don't produce an accurate static code analysis because it takes account of my crappy yet correct testcase code. So, right now, I have the following output folders:- "src" source folder compiles to WebContent/WEB-INF/classes folder. "test" source folder compiles to target/test-classes folder. Now, I'm getting this warning from RAD:- Broken single-root rule: A project may not contain more than one output folder. So, it seems like Eclipse-based IDEs prefer one project = one output folder, yet it provides an option for me to set up a custom output folder for my additional source folder from the "build path" dialog, and then it barks at me. I know I can just disable this warning myself, but I want to know how you guys handle this. Thanks.

    I am trying to test a simple service method. That method mainly just returns the results of a criteria query for which I want to test if it returns the one result or not (depending on what is queried for). The problem is, that I am unaware of how to right the corresponding test correctly. I am trying to accomplish it via spock, but doing the same with any other way of testing also fails. Can one tell me how to amend the test in order to make it work for the task at hand? (BTW I'd like to keep it a unit test, if possible.)   • why LINQ 2 SQL sometime add a field like select 1 as test, others valid fields....

    I have to concat 2 linq2sql query and I have an issue since the 2 query doesn't return the same number of columns, what is weird is after a .ToList() on the queries, they can concat without problem. The reason is, for some linq2sql reason, I have 2 more column named test and test2 which come from 2 left outer join that linq2sql automatically create, something like "select 1 as test, tablefields" Is there any good reason for that? how to remove this extra "1 as test" field? here a few of examples of what it look like: google result for linq 2 sql "select 1 as test"

    Basically I have a tear down method that I want to log to the console which test was just ran. How would I go about getting that string? I can get the class name, but I want the actual method that was just executed.     Currently I use an IDE for all my builds and unit tests. Now I have a need to use ant. I found a few simple ant build.xml scripts but they didn't support a separate Junit test/ dir. My projects are structured as follows: src/ com/foo/ com/bar/ test/ -- Mirror of src/, with all *Test.java files. com/foo/ com/bar/ lib/ -- All Java libs, including junit 4. How can a construct a small ant script that builds my src/ and test/ Java classes then runs all my JUnit tests?

  • Why does SQL Server 2000 treat SELECT test.* and SELECT t.est.* the same?

    I butter-fingered a query in SQL Server 2000 and added a period in the middle of the table name: SELECT t.est.* FROM test Instead of: SELECT test.* FROM test And the query still executed perfectly. Even SELECT t.e.st.* FROM test executes without issue. I've tried the same query in SQL Server 2008 where the query fails (error: the column prefix does not match with a table name or alias used in the query). For reasons of pure curiosity I have been trying to figure out how SQL Server 2000 handles the table names in a way that would allow the butter-fingered query to run, but I haven't had much luck so far. Any sql gurus know why SQL Server 2000 ran the query without issue? Update: The query appears to work regardless of the interface used (e.g. Enterprise Manager, SSMS, OSQL) and as Jhonny pointed out below it bizarrely even works when you try: SELECT TOP 1000 dbota.ble.* FROM dbo.table

How can I include these functional jars as dependent jars so that I can also reference classes in src/test/java. In other words, how do I reference the test classes in other jars.     How do you know if you "Test Fixture" is right-sized. And by "Test Fixture" I mean a class with a bunch of tests in it. One thing that I've always noticed with my test fixtures is that they get to be kind of verbose; seeing as they could also be not verbose enough, how do you get a sense of when your unit tests are the right size? My assumption is that (at least in the context of web development) you should have one test fixture class per page. The class it inherits, "B", has some protected methods and protected properties that I would like to access for the benefit of my tests.     We are upgrading our XL C/C++ compiler from V8.0 to V10.1 and found some code that is now giving us an error, even though it compiled under V8.0. Here's a minimal example: test.h: #include <iostream> #include <string> template <class T> void f() { std::cout << TEST << std::endl; } test.cpp: #include <string> #include "test.h" namespace { std::string TEST = "test"; } int main() { f<int>(); return 0; } Under V10.1, we get the following error: "test.h", line 7.16: 1540-0274 (S) The name lookup for "TEST" did not find a declaration. "test.cpp", line 6.15: 1540-1303 (I) "std::string TEST" is not visible. "test.h", line 5.6: 1540-0700 (I) The previous message was produced while processing "f<int>()". "test.cpp", line 11.3: 1540-0700 (I) The previous message was produced while processing "main()". We found a similar difference between g++ 3.3.2 and 4.3.2. I also found in g++, if I move the #include "test.h" to be after the unnamed namespace declaration, the compile error goes away. So here's my question: what does the Standard say about this? When a template is instantiated, is that instance considered to be declared at the point where the template itself was declared, or is the standard not that clear on this point? I did some looking though the n2461.pdf draft, but didn't really come up with anything definitive.

  • Beside SVN, how do you manage your development vs test vs production source code?

    I'm working on a very large project with three phases of source code. Development source code: changes rapidly every second, and checked by our QA Test environment code: released to clients' QA department (released every 2-3 weeks) Production environment: after confirmed ok by client QA its released to prod. (every few months) The system (governmental web app) is very large to track changes,bugs and hot fixes, sometimes the Testers could ask for a change, some other times the Production could ask for a hot fix or small update. The problem is, when the Test or Production request changes, the development code is already changed a lot, and they always warn us they want only that small fix, do not upload anything new with it. The question, how should i manage the code for the 3 phases, and get back to Test or Production code any tie and fix that small one thing (reflecting the change to the current Development as well)? Note: making a branch each time is too much, and i don't want the developers to be lost between updating the mainstream, the branch and the Test code!
