  • in TFS can we customize the merge algorithm (conflict resolution)

    - by Jennifer Zouak
    In our case we want to igonore changes in code comment headers for generated code. In Visual Studio, we can change the merge tool (GUI that pops up) and use a 3rd party tool that is able to be customized to ignore changes (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms181446.aspx). Great, so a file comparison no longer highlights code comments as differences. However when it comes time to checkin, the TFS merge algorith is still prompting us to resolve conflicts. Is there any way to better inform the merge conflict resolution algorithm about which changes are actually important to us? Or can we replace the algorithm or otherwise have it subcontract its work to a 3rd party?

  • Looking for a reporting tool that will allow vector graphics in output file (PDF)

    - by Richard West
    I have been tasked with evaluating our current system that we use for creating and outputing reports. Currently we are using Crystal Reports ver 8, (I know that this is and old version.), which has a custom commandline app that we wrote in C# to execute the report for a given parameter passed through the command line. We like Crystal becuase it's easy to setup and design the report. It's also easy to print and create a PDF file from crystal using our custom commandline program. One of the problems/complaints that we have is that Crystal does does not appear to have a method that will allow us to create a PDF file with a vector images, such as our company logo. Crystal Reports always converts an image into a bitmap. When the PDF is printed, the results are less than flattering, and the PDF file size is increased. Does anyone have any recomendadtions for a reporting product that we should consider?

  • How to recursively delete some xml elements using XSLT

    - by Monomachus
    Hi, So I got this situation which sucks. I have an XML like this <table border="1" cols="200 100pt 200"> <tr> <td>isbn</td> <td>title</td> <td>price</td> </tr> <tr> <td /> <td /> <td> <span type="champsimple" id="9b297fb5-d12b-46b1-8899-487a2df0104e" categorieid="a1c70692-0427-425b-983c-1a08b6585364" champcoderef="01f12b93-b4c5-401b-9da1-c9385d77e43f"> [prénom] </span> <span type="champsimple" id="e103a6a5-d1be-4c34-8a54-d234179fb4ea" categorieid="a1c70692-0427-425b-983c-1a08b6585364" champcoderef="01f12b93-b4c5-401b-9da1-c9385d77e43f">[nom]</span> <span></span> </td> </tr> <tr></tr> <tr> <td></td> <td>Phill It in</td> </tr> <tr> <table id="cas1"> <tr> <td ></td> <td >foo</td> </tr> <tr> <td >bar</td> <td >boo</td> </tr> </table> </tr> <tr> <table id="cas2"> <tr> <td ></td> <td >foo</td> </tr> <tr> <td ></td> <td >boo</td> </tr> </table> </tr> <tr> <table id="cas3"> <tr> <td >bar</td> <td ></td> </tr> <tr> <td >foo</td> <td >boo</td> </tr> </table> </tr> <tr> <table id="cas4"> <tr> <td /> <td /> </tr> <tr> <td>foo</td> <td>boo</td> </tr> </table> </tr> <table id="cas4"> <tr> <td /> <td /> </tr> <tr> <td>foo</td> <td>boo</td> </tr> </table> <tr> <td /> <td /> </tr> </table> Now the question is how would I recursively delete all empty td, tr and table elements? Now I use this XSLT <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output omit-xml-declaration="yes" indent="yes"/> <xsl:strip-space elements="*" /> <xsl:template match="node()|@*"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:apply-templates select="node()|@*"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="td[not(node())]" /> <xsl:template match="tr[not(node())]" /> <xsl:template match="table[not(node())]" /> </xsl:stylesheet> But it doesn't do very well. After I delete td, a tr becomes empty but it doesn't handle that. Too bad. See the table element with "cas4". <table border="1" cols="200 100pt 200"> <tr> <td>isbn</td> <td>title</td> <td>price</td> </tr> <tr> <td> <span type="champsimple" id="9b297fb5-d12b-46b1-8899-487a2df0104e" categorieid="a1c70692-0427-425b-983c-1a08b6585364" champcoderef="01f12b93-b4c5-401b-9da1-c9385d77e43f"> [prénom] </span> <span type="champsimple" id="e103a6a5-d1be-4c34-8a54-d234179fb4ea" categorieid="a1c70692-0427-425b-983c-1a08b6585364" champcoderef="01f12b93-b4c5-401b-9da1-c9385d77e43f">[nom]</span> <span /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>Phill It in</td> </tr> <tr> <table id="cas1"> <tr> <td>foo</td> </tr> <tr> <td>bar</td> <td>boo</td> </tr> </table> </tr> <tr> <table id="cas2"> <tr> <td>foo</td> </tr> <tr> <td>boo</td> </tr> </table> </tr> <tr> <table id="cas3"> <tr> <td>bar</td> </tr> <tr> <td>foo</td> <td>boo</td> </tr> </table> </tr> <tr> <table id="cas4"> <tr /> <tr> <td>foo</td> <td>boo</td> </tr> </table> </tr> <table id="cas4"> <tr /> <tr> <td>foo</td> <td>boo</td> </tr> </table> <tr /> </table> How would you solve this problem?

  • Make user download pdf instead of saving to a location

    - by chupinette
    Hello!I was trying out the following code which actually saves the pdf file to C:/xampp/ I want to create a link so that when the user clicks on it. It prompts it to save the pdf file. <?php // create handle for new PDF document $pdf = pdf_new(); // open a file pdf_open_file($pdf, "try1.pdf"); // start a new page (A4) pdf_begin_page($pdf, 595, 842); pdf_set_parameter($pdf, 'FontOutline', 'Arial=c:\windows\fonts\arial.ttf'); // get and use a font object $font = pdf_findfont($pdf, "Arial", "host", 1); pdf_setfont($pdf, $font, 10); // print text pdf_show_xy($pdf, "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,", 50, 750); pdf_show_xy($pdf, "than are dreamt of in your philosophy", 50, 730); // add an image under the text //$image = pdf_open_image_file($pdf, "jpeg", "shakespeare.jpg"); pdf_place_image($pdf, $image, 50, 650, 0.25); // end page pdf_end_page($pdf); // close and save file pdf_close($pdf); ?>

  • Tool to Create Annotated Directory Structure Documentation

    - by Millhouse
    I've got a moderately complicated application that has been developed primarily by me, and I'm getting ready to bring a few more developers in, and I'm thinking of various forms of documentation that might be helpful. I want to communicate information about the directory structure/layout of the project so the new guys will know where to look for things when they are getting started and as they add features, know where to put new files etc., so we can keep things organized and consistent. Is there any tool out there can create something a little more sophisticated than just a plain text document? I'm thinking of something that looks similar to Windows Explorer with a directory structure on the left in a panel and then when you click on a particular folder, you would be able to view some text or HTML that describes the folder in the right hand panel. Oh, and development will be done on Windows, but cross platform would be nice.

  • Merge PDF's with PDFTK with Bookmarks?

    - by Jason
    Using pdftk to merge multiple pdf's is working well. However, any easy way to make a bookmark for each pdf merged? I don't see anything on the pdftk docs regarding this so I don't think it's possible with pdftk. All of our files merged will be 1 page, so wondering if there's any other utility that can add in bookmarks afterwards? Or another linux based pdf utility that will allow to merge while specifying a bookmark for each individual pdf.

  • Example of code generator you made from scratch?

    - by rosscj2533
    What are some examples of code generators you have used? I think it's a cool idea, but I have trouble thinking of things they can do besides make a class based on an object's attributes/database schema (as described in The Pragmatic Programmer). What language did you write them in and what language did they output? Edit: Thanks for the responses so far. What I am really looking for is examples of code generators made from scratch for some certain purpose. I mentioned it in the title, but didn't make it very clear in my question. How did you go about making a code generator on your own and what specificly did it achieve?

  • Write Java Method Signature with Annotated paramaters with JDT

    - by Scott
    Hi, I am writing an eclipse plug-in which generates code. I am leveraging eclipse jdt to gen out classes, fields, and methods. One of the requirements I have is to generate methods with annotated paramaters... public returnType foo(@someAnnotation int id) { ..... ..... } Does anybody know how to write out the @someAnnotation using JDT? To write out normal parameters in JDT you could do something like the following Signature.createTypeSignature("int", false)

  • Safest way to copy a file

    - by aron
    Hello, I need to merg two PDF files. However sometimes a file might be locked up I wrote this code, but I'm wondering if it's not the smartest solution: private static int FILE_LOCKED_WAIT_PERIOD = 1000; while (true) { // If the file is in use, IOException will be thrown. // If file is not permitted to be opened because of Permission // Restrictions, UnauthorizedAccessException will be thrown. // For all other, Use normal Exception. try { inputDocument1 = PdfReader.Open(fileToMerge, PdfDocumentOpenMode.Import); break; } catch (IOException) { Thread.Sleep(FILE_LOCKED_WAIT_PERIOD); } catch (UnauthorizedAccessException) { Thread.Sleep(FILE_LOCKED_WAIT_PERIOD); } catch (Exception) { Thread.Sleep(FILE_LOCKED_WAIT_PERIOD); } }

  • Generate exe in .Net

    - by rwallace
    In .Net, you can generate byte code in memory, and presumably save the resulting program to a .exe file. To do the first step, I have the following test code adapted from http://www.code-magazine.com/Article.aspx?quickid=0301051 var name = new AssemblyName(); name.Name = "MyAssembly"; var ad = Thread.GetDomain(); var ab = ad.DefineDynamicAssembly(name, AssemblyBuilderAccess.Run); var mb = ab.DefineDynamicModule("MyModule"); var theClass = mb.DefineType("MathOps", TypeAttributes.Public); var retType = typeof(System.Int32); var parms = new Type[2]; parms[0] = typeof(System.Int32); parms[1] = typeof(System.Int32); var meb = theClass.DefineMethod("ReturnSum", MethodAttributes.Public, retType, parms); var gen = meb.GetILGenerator(); gen.Emit(OpCodes.Ldarg_1); gen.Emit(OpCodes.Ldarg_2); gen.Emit(OpCodes.Add_Ovf); gen.Emit(OpCodes.Stloc_0); gen.Emit(OpCodes.Br_S); gen.Emit(OpCodes.Ldloc_0); gen.Emit(OpCodes.Ret); theClass.CreateType(); How do you do the second step, and save the result to a .exe?

  • How to generate entity classes from nhibernate mapping files during runtime.

    - by Denis Rosca
    Hello, i need some help with c# and nhibernate. I'm working on a project that requires the entity classes to be generated from hbm files at runtime. I get the mapping files from a service, and then need to generate the classes dynamicaly and configure nhibernate to use them. The problem is that i'm new to nhibernate and not much of a pro in c#, so me writing the piece of code that achieves this is very error-prone. I was wondering if you know of any open source software that i could use. Worst case scenario (if can't find anything that even remotely resembles what i need), do you guys have some advice on where should i start? Maybe some links ? Thanks, Denis.

  • Seeking reporting or templating tool to generate large formatted PDF reports from dataset

    - by Mr. Tacos
    Say I have some data in MySQL or a big ole CSV file. I also have a report. It's a PDF, call it 100 pages long. I need to generate variations on this PDF for slices of the data. More specific example: I have a CSV file with each StackOverflow user in a row and each column contains various statistics about that user. I have a report called "Your StackOverflow Performance". Its got lots of text, always the same, but each section contains something like: "You Vs. The Average StackOverflow Poster on this metric". I want a table that appears there that has the average data, which is the same in every run of the PDF, in one column. In the second column, I want your data, which is different for each PDF/row in the CSV file/user of StackOverflow. I'm pretty sure people use things like Crystal for this? Is there something in MS SQL Server that's good for this? An open source template language? I'm not even really sure if what I need is called a 'reporting' tool (since I don't really need to do any crunching, the data in this case is being crunched by a series of scripts and SPSS, I don't need bands and subbands and so on) or 'templating'. Is there even such a thing as templating PDFs? Natch, I'd be fine with something that generates output easily scriptable to PDF, like eps, but not something like HTML. The report formatting is fussy and done and externally determined and handed down from on high. It's print-oriented, not webby. Thanks in advance.

  • IoC/DI in the face of winforms and other generated code

    - by Kaleb Pederson
    When using dependency injection (DI) and inversion of control (IoC) objects will typically have a constructor that accepts the set of dependencies required for the object to function properly. For example, if I have a form that requires a service to populate a combo box you might see something like this: // my files public interface IDataService { IList<MyData> GetData(); } public interface IComboDataService { IList<MyComboData> GetComboData(); } public partial class PopulatedForm : BaseForm { private IDataService service; public PopulatedForm(IDataService service) { //... InitializeComponent(); } } This works fine at the top level, I just use my IoC container to resolve the dependencies: var form = ioc.Resolve<PopulatedForm>(); But in the face of generated code, this gets harder. In winforms a second file composing the rest of the partial class is generated. This file references other components, such as custom controls, and uses no-args constructors to create such controls: // generated file: PopulatedForm.Designer.cs public partial class PopulatedForm { private void InitializeComponent() { this.customComboBox = new UserCreatedComboBox(); // customComboBox has an IComboDataService dependency } } Since this is generated code, I can't pass in the dependencies and there's no easy way to have my IoC container automatically inject all the dependencies. One solution is to pass in the dependencies of each child component to PopulatedForm even though it may not need them directly, such as with the IComboDataService required by the UserCreatedComboBox. I then have the responsibility to make sure that the dependencies are provided through various properties or setter methods. Then, my PopulatedForm constructor might look as follows: public PopulatedForm(IDataService service, IComboDataService comboDataService) { this.service = service; InitializeComponent(); this.customComboBox.ComboDataService = comboDataService; } Another possible solution is to have the no-args constructor to do the necessary resolution: public class UserCreatedComboBox { private IComboDataService comboDataService; public UserCreatedComboBox() { if (!DesignMode && IoC.Instance != null) { comboDataService = Ioc.Instance.Resolve<IComboDataService>(); } } } Neither solution is particularly good. What patterns and alternatives are available to more capably handle dependency-injection in the face of generated code? I'd love to see both general solutions, such as patterns, and ones specific to C#, Winforms, and Autofac.

  • Objective-C: making documentation

    - by VansFannel
    Hello. I've been developing for Visual Studio and C# for a long time. Now, I'm developing with XCode and Objective-C. On C# I can use /// <summary> to generate documentation. Is there any kind of mechanism like that on XCode to generate documentation? And what kind of comments should I use? Thank you.

  • Generate webservice soap client from wsdl when server using Windows Integrated Authentication

    - by James Black
    There is an SAP server that has some webservices I need to use, so I am trying to use wsimport to generate the client stubs. I don't want to find all the wsdls and schemas that are referenced and modify them to do it locally, as that isn't sustainable, if they service should change. So, how can I use wsimport to fetch a wsdl and generate the client stubs when the server is using Windows Integrated Authentication, where even the wsdl requires credentials.

  • create a simple pdf report from html

    - by opensas
    I'm looking for a way to generate pdf files from html In order to make simple tabular reports I would need the following features table rendering variable page size repeating headers / footers on every page calculated page number / total page css support would be nice I know there have been many similar questions in stackoverflow, but I don't know if there's a product that supports the aforementioned features... Ideally, the source would be a plain and simple well built html with css, (I'm building the html files, so I can adapt to the products needs, that is, it won't have to render every piece of html crap you can throw at a browser) and with some custom tags to configure headings, footer, page size, etc... then I would run a command line to convert it from html to pdf. I think http://www.allcolor.org/YaHPConverter/ does something like that

  • How can I generate HTML tables in Perl?

    - by anon
    I need to create a 2 tables in HTML format. Each has 5 rows: 1st Table 1st row has FRUITS in it, occupying all columns 2nd row has January(month), occupying all columns 3rd row has names of some 6 fruits (apple, orange, grapes,...)These names do not change. so this row has 6 columns 4th row has rates for each fruit ( 10,20,30..) so this has 6 columns. 5th row has corresponding message for each fruit showing as Available or not. 2nd Table If it is available the background color for the cell should be green and if not RED. 1st row has VEGETABLES in it, occupying all columns 2nd row has February(month), occupying all columns 3rd row has names of some 6 vegetables (tomato, potato..)These names do not change. so this row has 6 columns 4th row has rates for each vegetable ( 10,20,30..) so this has 6 columns. 5th row has corresponding message for each vegetable showing as Available or not.If it is available the background color for the cell should be green and if not RED. All this data is read from a file having a particular format, it is <name of fruit/vegetable price <available or not The names of fruits and vegetable do not change , it will be same for both the tables. However, it might be possible that data for a particular fruit/vegetable is not present. if it is not present the the column for that should show N/A with white background. I cannot use MIME:Lite for this. Need to use print <<ENDHTML;

  • Why eGet() in EMF returns Object rather than EObject?

    - by Gabriel Šcerbák
    I am working on some code using the EMF framework in Java, but it is really hard to use, e.g. I cannot implement OCL-like query API on top of EMF which would be type-safe. One of the reasons is that eGet() for a EStructuralFeature return just an Object, not EObject. So anything I would write must use much of null checking, type checking and type casting which is unsafe, not performant and cannot be generalized in a reusable way. Why doesn't EMF generate dummy implementations with EObject wrappers for arbitrary Object value? Implementing the EObject and hence the EClass interfaces even with simple throw UnsupportedOperationException is really a pain (the APIs are too big). The same holds for the eContainer() method which makes navigatinng the model upwards painful.
