• improve my jquery validation plugin code

  Hi All Just hoping soemone can help me to write better code than I can come up with on my own. I am using the jquery validation plugin. I have some fields that are mandatory ONLY if certain options are chosen. The below code works fine. But the thing is, is that that my list of 'OR's is much longer than I've put here. and it needs to be applied not just to 'directorsName' but a whole long list of inputs, selects etc. My question is.. how can I wrap up the code contained inside the RETURN? (so I dont have to keep repeating my 'OR's. • How does Rails Plugin Storage work?

  Trying to figure out how to install rails plugins manually on windows so I have a few questions. What does the directory need to be named in vendor/plugins? Is it arbitrary or is it linked to something within the plugin config files or is that what you set in the environment.rb? Once I've copied the files to the correct directory, do I always need to run something inside like init.rb or is it good to go? What's the difference between 'require' and 'include'? Thanks!

• How to execute maven tasks in eclipse (Sonatype plugin)

  Hi all I know it must be something simple, but I just can't figure it out.. I'm using the Sonatype maven plugin on eclipse. When I want to build a war file for a webapp project, the only way I know to do it is to use the command line and type mvn package. I've looked all through the right click menu and I can't find any way to do it from eclipse. There's a maven submenu that seems to have no options to do with building, and there's a run menu that doesn't seem right - I don't want to run my project - I just want to build it. There is a maven build option in the run menu, but if I run it, a configuration window pops up for me to enter goals in.. How I do I just do a simple mvn package, but through gui? What am I missing?   Hi, I've been experimenting with this plugin http://valums.com/edit-in-place/, so far so good... But i ran into this problem. I want to update my page when update or new request to save data is sent but if i update this function(edit-in-place) it will add second set of buttons, third, fourth and so on. How could i tell it that it would update just on that returned data, but not all elements? I have an idea it has to do something with each function of jquerys, but I'm not sure as I'm quite new to jquery. Thanks for any help!

  Hi I am converting some prototype javascript to jQuery javascript. In prototype we can do Class.create to create a class. However, jQuery doesn't provide this. So I was thinking to rewrite the class into a jQuery plugin. Is this the best practice? My concern is that if I do all for the class, then I will add a lot of things to jQuery object. The other alternative is to use some extra lines of codes I found http://ejohn.org/blog/simple-javascript-inheritance/#postcomment. The SDK guide states:- Always use After Effects memory allocation functions. In low-memory conditions (such as during RAM preview), it’s very important that plug-ins not compete with After Effects for OS memory, and deal gracefully with out-of-memory conditions. Failing to use our functions can cause lock-ups, crashes, and tech support calls. Don’t do that. If you’re wrapping existing C++ code, overloading new and delete to use our functions will save substantial reimplementation. On Windows, derive all classes from a common base class which implements new and delete. so my question.. is something compatible with the above statement possible in Obj-c?

  Hi I am looking at pines notify(http://pines.sourceforge.net/pnotify/) and it looks good but it seems to have little actual documentation so I am wondering is there anything more established and worked on out there? Like I don't want to spend time trying to figure out how to use pines and then find out it is missing some feature that I needed a few months later that I needed to change to a different plugin. This happened to me with tablesorter 2.0 I was using it then I needed the filtering but theirs kinda sucked so I found datatables what had such a bigger api and developed more. So I am wondering if there is something like datatables(in terms of development and features) just for notifications instead.

• best practice for Jquery plugin implementation and resource locations

  This is probably a very basic question, but I seem to have issues plugging in jquery plug-ins. The issue seems to be around the location of the script, css and images and ensuring the css has the correct url to the images. The standard plug-in has the following folder structure (eg : JPicker) js css images My project is asp.net mvc so I have the default: scripts images content So, I try to split the jquery plugin to the appropriate folders (not sure if this is the best way?). Then I try to correct the references to images (background urls) in the css. I believe the url is relative to the page that is implementing the css file, not the location of the css file itself. Anyway, when I try the above, the plugins don't seem to work. I believe the issue lies with the images not being found. The jquery code runs without errors, so I assume that's not the problem. Any help/advice much appreciated

  I have found two plugins that enable the browser's back button to work across ajax interactions, but I can't determine which is better and why. The two plugins are history_remote and the history. The history plug in is simpler and seems to provide all the functionality I need, but I'm not sure I understand enough about them to make an intelligent decision. For my application, I need the plugin to allow the back button to work through ajax interactions, and I need to be able to bookmark the page at any point through the interactions. Which plug in is best in this scenario and why? Are there any other plug ins that I missed that might be better? Are there any limitations to these plugins that I'm missing (do they not work in certain situations etc)? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I'm currently adding rounded corners, shadows, borders, and gradients via my own CSS + hacks to get it working on IE. I'm using jQuery for a number of tasks and wondered if there's a plugin that can add these design flairs more easily to DIVs.   I'm creating a new plugin for TinyMce. However I cannot find any examples to see some of the functionality I've seen in other plugins. I've read their source code but I cannot find where it is done: When you click on an 'A' element, the link/unlink buttons in the taskbar become enabled. When you right click on an 'A' element, then click on the "Insert/edit link" icon that is shown in the popup menu, the "Insert/edit link" window is setup (has all the attributes for that particular link) prefilled. Could you suggest somewhere where I could learn how to do this? A file and line number is fine. Thanks in advance.

I use now an app that remembers their position to restore it... Windows Update service dissapeared, along with BITS service, I managed to recover them and installed all updates availables today I'm going nuts looking for information about these errors. • System Expandable-String Environment Variables Can’t Reference User Environment Variables

  Hi, I’ve run into a bit of a situation with Windows environment variables. I’ve narrowed it down to what may or may not makes sense and/or possibly be by design. It seems that expandable-string environment variables of the local machine cannot reference environment variables of the current user. For example if you’ve got the following environment variables: [HKCU\Environment] "CU"="CU" "CU->LM"="%LM%" [HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment] "LM"="LM" "LM->CU"="%CU%" Then you get the following results: > set CU CU=CU CU->LM=LM > set LM LM=LM LM->CU=%CU% It seems that user variables can expand system variable references, but system variables cannot expand (access?) user variable references. I suppose that it makes sense if you think about it just right (eg like how user vars override/hide system vars of the same name), but it also doesn’t make sense if you think about it in even more ways. So what’s going on? Is there a way to get this to work as expected? Thanks.

• Problems configuring DB2 CLI/ODBC System DSN ODBC Data Source Administrator

  I am trying to create a System DSN ODBC connection to a DB2 9.5 database, but I am getting a very strange problem. I've looked through the internet and found the following page that has some instructions on how I should proceed: http://www.ryslander.com/how-to-install-and-configure-db2-odbc-driver/. I followed these instructions and I am able to create a new System DSN, however when I try to configure it it seems as if my configurations don't work at all. For example, when I click on the "Configure" button on my System DSN and I add a TCP/IP protocol configuration on the "Advanced Settings" tab and click "Ok", no errors appear, but when I click on "Configure" again my TCP/IP setting has vanished. This happened to all my other configurations, such as database name, username, password etc. Could you help me figure out what I am doing wrong? Note: my user is in the administrator group and I am using a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64. UPDATE I managed to create a User DSN and connect to the database. However the problem with the System DSN remains.

• Exception Handling Differences Between 32/64 Bit

  I do quite a bit of debugging .NET applications but from time to time I see things that are impossible (at a first look). I may ask you dear reader what your mental exception handling model is. Exception handling is easy after all right? The mental model I have is that when an exception is thrown the stack frames are unwound until the catch handler can execute. An exception does propagate the call chain upwards.   So when F3 does throw an exception the control flow will resume at the finally handler in F2 which does throw another exception hiding the original one (that is nasty) and then the new Exception will be catched in F1 where the catch handler is executed. So we should see in the catch handler in F1 as call stack only the F1 stack frame right? Well lets try it out in Windbg. For this I created a simple Windows Forms application with one button which does execute the F1 method in its click handler. The exception handling on 64 bit systems does work quite differently which seems to have the nice property to remember the called methods not only during the first pass of exception filter clauses (during first pass all catch handler are called if they are going to catch the exception which is about to be thrown)  but also when the actual stack unwind has taken place. This makes it possible to follow not only the call stack right at the moment but also to look into the “history” of the catch/finally clauses. In a 64 bit process you only need to look at the ExceptionTracker to find out if a catch or finally handler was called. The two frames ProcessManagedCallFrame/CallHandler does indicate a finally clause whereas CallCatchHandler/CallHandler indicates a catch clause. That was a interesting one. Oh and by the way if you manage to load the Microsoft symbols you can also find out the hidden exception which. • Event Log "Wake Source" when system wakes from sleep

  So I've been troubleshooting sleep timers for our systems and have run across an interesting issue. I need a way to report how long a system was awake after a number of different inputs. Now, I've discovered that the System Log tracks wake and sleep events and even tells you the times that everything happens at. The thing is doesn't tell you is what triggered the wake event. It does give you a numerical code however. Here are some examples of what I am finding. Index : 2901 EntryType : Information InstanceId : 1 Message : The system has resumed from sleep. • Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio causing system freeze

  I'm experiencing very slow response from MSSMS and it causes other applications to slow down. Specially Skype crashes after few seconds from opening MSSMS, showing an error called "Disk I/O Error". I'm regularly using few applications (Sublime text, MS Word, Firefox, Outlook, Skype and one or two other apps) simultaneously. The system works fine when MSSMS is not in use! But as soon as MSSMS is opened, all the apps start to freeze (MSSMS also responds very slow). This problem has been there for about a week now (I haven't installed any apps or haven't made any changes to the system during that time). -- System Specifications -- Processor: Core i3 (3.1 GHz) RAM: 4 GB OS: Windows 7 Professional (64 bit) Free space in C drive: ~ 100 GB MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio version - 10.50.1600.1 I've tried to find a reason for this but there are no helpful information in the web! There are some solutions suggested (in forums and in Skype Support pages) for the Skypes' "Disk I/O Error", all of which I tried but does not solve the problem. Has anyone faced the same senario? (and hopefully) knows a solution? Systems Log I don't have much knowledge in interpreting the System Log, but I think the Critical and Warnings are not helpful. But there are lots of Error logs which might be useful. In source Kernal-General there are few similar errors saying "An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably.The Registry could not flush hive (file): <some file>" In source atapi also there are few similar errors -- "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0." (all errors has occurred in 'IdePort0') In Application Error, there are several errors logged, and following is the latest one. Both the Errors which has occurred today is similar (to this one). As it is from Ssms.exe, I guess this is relevant to the cause of problem. But as I said above I can't understand what it means!

• Which revision control system for single user

  I'm looking to set up a revision control system with me as a single user. I'd like to have access (read and write) protected using SSL, little overhead, and preferrably a simple setup. I'm looking to do this on my own server, so I don't want to use the option of registering with some professional provider of such a service (I like having direct control over my data; also, I'd like to know how to set up something like that). As far as I'm aware, what kind of project I want to subject to revision control doesn't really matter, but just for completeness' sake, I'm planning on using this for Java project, some html/css/php stuff, and in the future possibly as a synchronizing tool for small data bases (ignore that later one if it doesn't fit in with the paradigm of revision control). My questions primarily arise from the fact that I only ever used Subversion from Eclipse, so I don't have thorough knowledge of what's out there, what fits better for which needs, etc. So far I've heard of Subversion, Git, Mercurial, but I'm open to any system that's widely used and well supported. My server is running Ubuntu 11.10.
