  • objective-c Novice - Needs help with global variables and setter method

    - by user544006
    I am creating a quiz app which has 2 views, MMAppViewController and a subview Level1View. I have declared NSInteger property "theScore" in the MMAppViewController view and have synthesised it. In my Level1View when they answer a correct question the "theScore" int will increase by one. The score has to be a global variable because when you reach so many points it will unlock the next level. For some reason in my switch statement it only lets me use the setTheScore method once. I am getting errors for every other set method in the switch statement. Error: "Duplicate label setTheScore". The statement is in the pushButtonAnswer method: setTheScore: theScore++; Here is my code: #import "Level1View.h" #import "MMAppViewController.h" @implementation Level1View @synthesize answer; @synthesize question; @synthesize userAnswer; @synthesize theScore; @synthesize score; int questionNum=0; NSInteger score=0; NSInteger theScore; BOOL start=FALSE; BOOL optionNum=FALSE; -(IBAction)pushBack{ [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } -(IBAction)pushButton1{ optionNum=TRUE; labelAnswer.textColor=[UIColor blackColor]; userAnswer=@"1"; [labelAnswer setText:(@"You chose 'A'")]; } -(IBAction)pushButton2{ optionNum=TRUE; labelAnswer.textColor=[UIColor blackColor]; userAnswer=@"2"; [labelAnswer setText:(@"You chose 'B'")]; } -(IBAction)pushButton3{ optionNum=TRUE; labelAnswer.textColor=[UIColor blackColor]; userAnswer=@"3"; [labelAnswer setText:(@"You chose 'C'")]; } -(IBAction)pushButtonAnswer{ labelAnswer.textColor=[UIColor blackColor]; switch (questionNum){ case 1: if(answer==userAnswer && optionNum==TRUE){ labelAnswer.textColor=[UIColor greenColor]; [labelAnswer setText:(@"correct")]; [self hideButtons]; score++; [self setTheScore: theScore++]; } else if(optionNum==FALSE){ [labelAnswer setText:(@"Please choose an answer below:")];} else{ labelAnswer.textColor=[UIColor redColor]; [labelAnswer setText:(@"wrong")];} [self hideButtons]; break; case 2: if(answer==userAnswer && optionNum==TRUE){ labelAnswer.textColor=[UIColor greenColor]; [labelAnswer setText:(@"correct")]; [self hideButtons]; score++; [self setTheScore: theScore++]; } else if(optionNum==FALSE){ [labelAnswer setText:(@"Please choose an answer below:")];} else{ labelAnswer.textColor=[UIColor redColor]; [labelAnswer setText:(@"wrong")]; [self hideButtons];} break; case 3: if(answer==userAnswer && optionNum==TRUE){ labelAnswer.textColor=[UIColor greenColor]; .... And #import "MMAppViewController.h" #import "Level1View.h" @implementation MMAppViewController @synthesize theScore; NSInteger score; -(IBAction)pushLevel1{ Level1View *level1View = [[Level1View alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil]; [self presentModalViewController:level1View animated:YES]; theScore++; } -(IBAction)pushLevel2{ //Level1View *level1View = [[Level1View alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil]; //[self presentModalViewController:level1View animated:YES]; NSInteger *temp = Level1View.score; //int theScore=2; [labelChoose setText:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"You scored %i", theScore]]; } Does anyone know why i am getting these errors and if I am coding this correctly?

  • Strange problems with PHP SOAP (private variable not persist + variables passed from client not work

    - by Tamas Gal
    I have a very strange problems in a PHP Soap implementation. I have a private variable in the Server class which contains the DB name for further reference. The private variable name is "fromdb". I have a public function on the soap server where I can set this variable. $client-setFromdb. When I call it form my client works perfectly and the fromdb private variable can be set. But a second soap client call this private variable loses its value... Here is my soap server setup: ini_set('soap.wsdl_cache_enabled', 0); ini_set('session.auto_start', 0); ini_set('always_populate_raw_post_data', 1); global $config_dir; session_start(); /*if(!$HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA){ $HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA = file_get_contents('php://input'); }*/ $server = new SoapServer("{$config_dir['template']}import.wsdl"); $server-setClass('import'); $server-setPersistence(SOAP_PERSISTENCE_SESSION); $server-handle(); Problem is that I passed this to the server: $client = new SoapClient('http://import.ingatlan.net/wsdl', array('trace' = 1)); $xml=''; $xml.=''; $xml.=''; $xml.=''; $xml.='Valaki'; $xml.=''; $xml.=''; $xml.=''; $xml.=''; $tarray = array("type" = 1, "xml" = $xml); try{ $s = $client-sendXml( $tarray ); print "$s"; } catch( SOAPFault $exception){ print "--- SOAP exception :{$exception}---"; print "LAST REQUEST :"; var_dump($client-_getLastRequest()); print "---"; print "LAST RESPONSE :".$client-_getLastResponse(); } So passed an Array of informations to the server. Then I got this exception: LAST REQUEST : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"><SOAP-ENV:Body><type>Array</type><xml/></SOAP-ENV:Body></SOAP-ENV:Envelope> Can you see the Array word between the type tag? Seems that the client only passed a reference or something like this. So I totaly missed :(

  • When do you trust the data / variables

    - by Wizzard
    We all know that all user data, GET/POST/Cookie etc etc needs to be validated for security. But when do you stop, once it's converted into a local variable? eg if (isValidxxx($_GET['foo']) == false) { throw InvalidArgumentException('Please enter a valid foo!'); } $foo = $_GET['foo']; fooProcessor($foo); function fooProcessor($foo) { if (isValidxxx($foo) == false) { throw Invalid...... } //other stuff } To me thats over the top. But what if you load the value from the database... I hope I make sense :)

  • Use javascript variables in Rails view helpers

    - by Horacio
    Using jqGrid I want to generate delete links for each row in the grid. The standard way to do this is to add the links in the gridComplete callback like shown below: gridComplete: function() { var ids = jQuery("#jobs_table").jqGrid('getDataIDs'); for(var i=0;i < ids.length;i++){ var cl = ids[i]; be = '<%= link_to(image_tag("delete.gif", :border=>0, :size=>"20x22", :alt => "delete"),· { :action => 'destroy', :id => 'cl', :method => :delete}, :class => 'ajax') -%>'; jQuery("#jobs_table").jqGrid('setRowData',ids[i],{workflow_state:be}); } }, Using getDataIDs I get a list of IDs that I can use to generate the delete links. The problem is that this is a javascript call that results in a javascript variable. The question is how can I use this variable "cl" inside rails link_to view helper?

  • Accessing ViewController's variables from UIActionSheet delegate

    - by VansFannel
    Hello. I have the following code: @implementation SendMapViewController NSMutableArray *emails; At this method I create emails array and I add some NSStrings: - (BOOL) peoplePickerNavigationController: (ABPeoplePickerNavigationController *)peoplePicker shouldContinueAfterSelectingPerson: (ABRecordRef)person { ABMultiValueRef emailInfo = ABRecordCopyValue(person, kABPersonEmailProperty); NSUInteger emailCount = ABMultiValueGetCount(emailInfo); if (emailCount > 1) { UIActionSheet *emailsAlert = [[UIActionSheet alloc] initWithTitle:@"Select an email" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:nil destructiveButtonTitle:nil otherButtonTitles:nil]; emails = [NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity: emailCount]; for (NSUInteger i = 0; i < emailCount; i++) { NSString *emailFromContact = (NSString *)ABMultiValueCopyValueAtIndex(emailInfo, i); [emails addObject: emailFromContact]; [emailsAlert addButtonWithTitle:emailFromContact]; [emailFromContact release]; } [emailsAlert addButtonWithTitle:@"Cancel"]; [emailsAlert showInView:self.view]; [emailsAlert release]; } else { ... } CFRelease(emailInfo); [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; return NO; } As you can see in code, if there are more than one email I show and UIActionSheet. When user clicks on a button representing and email, I want to execute the following code: - (void)actionSheet:(UIActionSheet *)actionSheet clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if ([emails count] >= buttonIndex) { NSString *contactEmail = (NSString *)[emails objectAtIndex:buttonIndex]; ... } } But emails array hasn't got any email. What I'm doing wrong? I'm developing for iPhone.

  • Behavior of local variables in JavaScripts with()-statement

    - by thr
    I noticed some weird (and to my knowledge undefined behavior, by the ECMA 3.0 Spec at least), take the following snippet: var foo = { bar: "1", baz: "2" }; alert(bar); with(foo) { alert(bar); alert(bar); } alert(bar); It crashes in both Firefox and Chrome, because "bar" doesn't exist in the first alert(); statement, this is as expected. But if you add a declaration of bar inside the with()-statement, so it looks like this: var foo = { bar: "1", baz: "2" }; alert(bar); with(foo) { alert(bar); var bar = "g2"; alert(bar); } alert(bar); It will produce the following: undefined, 1, g2, undefined It seems as if you create a variable inside a with()-statement most browsers (tested on Chrome or Firefox) will make that variable exist outside that scope also, it's just set to undefined. Now from my perspective bar should only exist inside the with()-statement, and if you make the example even weirder: var foo = { bar: "1", baz: "2" }; var zoo; alert(bar); with(foo) { alert(bar); var bar = "g2"; zoo = function() { return bar; } alert(bar); } alert(bar); alert(zoo()); It will produce this: undefined, 1, g2, undefined, g2 So the bar inside the with()-statement does not exist outside of it, yet the runtime somehow "automagically" creates a variable named bar that is undefined in its top level scope (global or function) but this variable does not refer to the same one as inside the with()-statement, and that variable will only exist if a with()-statement has a variable named bar that is defined inside it. Very weird, and inconsistent. Anyone have an explanation for this behavior? There is nothing in the ECMA Spec about this.

    - by Wayne
    What way it is to be to get two GET methods in the URL by htaccess? EDIT: $mode1 = $_GET['mode']; $mode2 = $_GET['othermode']; Like this...

  • PHP Login, Store Session Variables.

    - by Andreas Carlbom
    Yo. I'm trying to make a simple login system in PHP and my problem is this: I don't really understand sessions. Now, when I log a user in, I run session_register("user"); but I don't really understand what I'm up to. Does that session variable contain any identifiable information, so that I for example can get it out via $_SESSION["user"] or will I have to store the username in a separate variable? Thanks.

  • Java Concurrency : Volatile vs final in "cascaded" variables?

    - by Tom
    Hello Experts, is final Map<Integer,Map<String,Integer>> status = new ConcurrentHashMap<Integer, Map<String,Integer>>(); Map<Integer,Map<String,Integer>> statusInner = new ConcurrentHashMap<Integer, Map<String,Integer>>(); status.put(key,statusInner); the same as volatile Map<Integer,Map<String,Integer>> status = new ConcurrentHashMap<Integer, Map<String,Integer>>(); Map<Integer,Map<String,Integer>> statusInner = new ConcurrentHashMap<Integer, Map<String,Integer>>(); status.put(key,statusInner); in case the inner Map is accessed by different Threads? or is even something like this required: volatile Map<Integer,Map<String,Integer>> status = new ConcurrentHashMap<Integer, Map<String,Integer>>(); volatile Map<Integer,Map<String,Integer>> statusInner = new ConcurrentHashMap<Integer, Map<String,Integer>>(); status.put(key,statusInner); In case the it is NOT a "cascaded" map, final and volatile have in the end the same effect of making shure that all threads see always the correct contents of the Map... But what happens if the Map iteself contains a map, as in the example... How do I make shure that the inner Map is correctly "Memory barriered"? Tanks! Tom

  • Using PHP, can I put variables inside of variables?

    - by Rob
    For example, take this code: $ch = curl_init($resultSet['url']."?get0=get0&get1=".$get1."&get2=".$get2."&get3=".$get3); This of course, looks very ugly, and kind of a pain in the ass to read. So my question is, would I be able to use something like this: $allgets ="?act=phptools&host=".$host."&time=".$duration."&port=".$port; $ch = curl_init($resultSet['url'] . $allgets); Very simple question I suppose, but my server is undergoing maintenance, so I can't upload it and test it myself. I suppose a yes or no answer will suffice, but if you have a more efficient way of doing this, that would be even better. :)

  • Sorting function/variables in an object by name

    - by sissonb
    I was wondering if PHPStorm by Jetbrains has a tool to sort the methods in my JavaScript object by name. If not are there any other tools that can do this for me? Ext.regController("dashboard", { goToShoppingCart:function() { Ext.dispatch({ controller:"shoppingCart", action:"loadCart" }); }, goToDashboard:function() {}, goToContact:function() {} } ); to Ext.regController("dashboard", { goToContact:function() {}, goToDashboard:function() {}, goToShoppingCart:function() { Ext.dispatch({ controller:"shoppingCart", action:"loadCart" }); } } ); This is only for organization. Thanks

  • JQuery - Pass variables to PHP script via AJAX call and then display file

    - by hfidgen
    Hiya, I'm trying to generate Outlook event files for my events, doing so on the fly as and when someone requests it by pressing a link on the page. Here's what i've got so far, but I can't find out how to get the browser to download the content which is returned. I know how I could do this if I sent everything via _GET, but I'd prefer to do it via _POST, hence I'm going down this route.. Any thoughts? Thanks! HTML / Javascript <script> $(function() { $(".button").click(function() { // validate and process form // first hide any error messages var start = $("input#start").val(); var end = $("input#end").val(); var dataString = 'start='+ start + '&end=' + end; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/calendar.php", data: dataString, success: function(data) { //Need to return the file contents somehow! } }); return false; }); }); </script> <form name="calendar" method="post" action=""> <input type="hidden" name="start" id="start" value="<?php echo $start; ?>" /> <input type="hidden" name="end" id="end" value="<?php echo $end; ?>" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" class="button" id="submit_btn" value="Outlook" /> </fieldset> </form> PHP File <?php if (isset($_POST['start'])) { $start = $_POST['start']; $end = $_POST['end']; $c = header("Content-Type: text/Calendar"); $c .= header("Content-Disposition: inline; filename=calendar.ics"); $c .= "BEGIN:VCALENDAR\n"; $c .= "VERSION:2.0\n"; $c .= "PRODID:-//xxxyyyy//NONSGML //EN\n"; $c .= "METHOD:REQUEST\n"; // requied by Outlook $c .= "BEGIN:VEVENT\n"; $c .= "UID:". $start . $end ."-" .   • Using colon syntax and variables in Sass

    - by corroded
    I am still using the old colon syntax (I prefer it more than the bracket syntax) and this particular code: a.button-link +box($main-color) +border-radius(5px) :background :color $main-color :color #fff :padding 5px generates a warning like so: DEPRECATION WARNING: On line 12, character 3 of '/Users/eumir/rails_apps/dxconnect/app/ stylesheets/partials/utilities/_link-styles.sass' Setting properties with = has been deprecated and will be removed in version 3.2. Use "background: $main-color" instead. I tried that but my background color still doesn't show up. Any help on this please? Thanks!

  • jquery dialog form with dynamic variables

    - by Patrick
    Hello, Currently I have an html form - which I call with jquery dialog - to insert new records into a table. But I also would like to update existing records with the same form - using jquery dialog. I'm not sure within the dialog how I access these data values - or pass them in as arguments - and hook them up with the form elements...? Anyone has done this before and knows an agile technique to do this? kind regards, Patrick

  • Doesn't JavaScript support closures with local variables?

    - by qollin
    I am very puzzled about this code: var closures = []; function create() { for (var i = 0; i < 5; i++) { closures[i] = function() { alert("i = " + i); }; } } function run() { for (var i = 0; i < 5; i++) { closures[i](); } } create(); run(); From my understanding it should print 0,1,2,3,4 (isn't this the concept of closures?). Instead it prints 5,5,5,5,5. I tried Rhino and Firefox. Could someone explain this behavior to me? Thx in advance.

  • PHP Populating array with $variables

    - by Tom
    Hi, I'm trying to create a basic shopping cart, having an issue with the product page allowing users to add more items to their cart then are in stock (I have code in place to prevent this on the view cart page, just not the view product page) This is what I have so far; for ($i = 0; $i < $numItem; $i++) { extract($cartContent[$i]); $subTotal += $price * $cartQuantity; $cartLimiter[$itemNo => $cartQuantity]; Using an array so the position number becomes the item number and the cart quantity becomes the assigned value, however it doesn't seem to like it and throws out on the bottom line of code: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_DOUBLE_ARROW, expecting ']' Thanks
