    I have datetime fieldI have datetime field into the database which stores the universal time i.e. UTC time. I want to show the datetime at the client machine in clients time zone and format. Example: Someone from US updated the database field for a site and it is stored into the UTC format. Someone from India goes and sees the site . What i want is that the person from India sees the time in IST or from Australia sees in his local machines time format not the server time format and zone. Whats the best way to do this ??     I'm trying to sort out values from a database by the weekending date. The script I'm using functions on 6 of my 7 databases (they are all constructed identically).   • building an XML service parsing library

    This is more of a design question I suppose. My company offers a web service to our client that spits data out in a custom xml format. I'd like to build a java library we can offer so our customers can just feed it the url and we will turn it into a set of POJOs built from the response. I can obviously just create a library that will do some simple xml parsing and building of the POJOs but I'm looking to build something a bit more robust. My brain is pulling me in a million directions, wondering if anyone has some pointers or some code to poke at. Was thinking about adding an Abdera extension, but it's not really a syndication format that fits the Abdera model. And most of the popular service libraries (twitter, facebook) all rely on standards format parsers, of which our format isn't.

  • Converting java language output to Joomla language output

    in java if I run : Locale.getDefault().toString() I get zh_tw I am sending this to a joomla site and setting the language like this: $lang = &JFactory::getLanguage(); $lang->setLanguage( $_GET['lang'] ); $lang->load(); however the site requires the following format zh-TW It appears that if it is not in that exact format the language will not change. Is there a function somewhere in java or php that will convert the format for me? I realise that I could write the method myself like this: public static String convertLanguageToJoomlaFormat(String lang) { String[] parts = lang.split("_"); if(parts.length ==2) return parts[0]+"-"+parts[1].toUpperCase(); return lang; } but am unsure if there are any cases where the format changes for particular languages.

I have already written some code that will parse arguments the arguments ( or at least get me the request string ) and some code that will return some simple xml. however I think certain requests like the one for the favicon are sent I think it is messing up my code.     Not sure if this has something to do the live host I'm working with, but I'm using @font-face in the following format, @font-face { font-family: 'UbuntuTitle'; src: url('Ubuntu-Title-webfont.eot'); src: local('?'), url('Ubuntu-Title-webfont.woff') format('woff'), url('Ubuntu-Title-webfont.ttf') format('truetype'), url('Ubuntu-Title-webfont.svg') format('svg'); font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; } I'm finding though that I can't save the document because of the strange character in () in local local('?') so I save it as UTF-8, but that changes the character to this local('☺'). Could that be the reason why it's not being picked up on the server? Any other possibilities?

I tried doing this by passing $flag as a parameter to the sub which generates the report. However, the last defined FORMAT seems to always take precedence and the final write when it happens, applies the last format no matter what the condition is. Is it possible to also add/hide fields using the same process. e.g. If $flag2 is defined, then add an additional field Field4 to the list?

    I'm replacing a website that was previously HTML only. I put a GridView on the French and the English page and I'm getting 2 fields: A date and a currency. For the date, I need to transform it into a long date format. The English part isn't very hard, but when I get to the French page, I can't transform it into a long date format with French words (i.e.:Mardi instead of Tuesday). Is there any way to format the string with French date words instead?
