  • Jquery image preview plugin issue...

    I have a problem with an image preview that comes up when you hover over a thumbnail. I can change the distance between the preview and the cursor, but if a thumbnail is close to the side of the window, the preview cant fit and you only see part of it.. hope that makes sense... is there a way to make it so that if the preview doesnt fit, it will show up on the other side of the cursor?....     Hello All, I am learning to use the jquery ui:dialog. And when i go to this link for the example for a modal dialog, in ie6 http://jqueryui.com/demos/dialog/#modal The resizing of the dialog doesnt work. I try to replicate the same scenario by myself, with the bgiframe:true option, the resizing still doesnt work. I know there is an iframefix out there to put in the jquery.ui.resizable.js it still doesnt work. I am using jquery-1.4.2.js Any ideas

  • php script gets two ajax requests, only returns one?

    I'll start from the beginning. I'm building a wordpress plugin that does double duty, in that it can be inserted in to a post via a shortcode, or added as a sidebar widget. All it does is output some js to make jquery.post requests to a local php file. The local php file makes a request to a webservice for some data. (I had to do it this way instead of directly querying the web service with jquery.ajax because the url contains a license key that would be public if put in the js). Anyway, When I am viewing a page in the wordpress blog that has both the sidebar widget and the plugin output via shortcode only one of the requests work. I mean it works in that it gets a response back from the php script. Once the page is loaded they both work normally when manually told to. Webpage view - send 2 post requests to my php script - both elements should be filed in, but only one is. I'm guessing it is some sort of race condition but that doesn't make ANY sense. I'm new to all this, any ideas? EDIT: I've come up with a sub-optimal solution. I have my widget detect if the plugin is also being used on the page, and if so it waits for 3 seconds before performing the request. But I have a feeling this same thing is going to happen if multiple clients perform a page request at the same time that triggers one of the requests to my php script, because I believe the problem is in the php script, which is scary.

Edit: As Sebastian pointed out, this is quite possible without jQuery - but I was hoping there might be a special method of jQuery which would let you do selectors on the text itself. I'm already using jQuery heavily on this site, so keeping everything wrapped up in jQuery would make things perhaps a bit more tidy.

  • Visual Studio 2010 including old version of jquery

    When I create a new ASP.NET project in Visual Studio 2010, it creates the scripts directory, like it should, however the version of JQuery it sticks under the scripts directory is an old version of JQuery. Version 1.36 I believe. How can I update this so that Visual Studio 2010 will include the newest version of jquery? I know I can remove it and manually add it, but I don't want to have to do this everytime I create a new project.

This is fine but it's kinda dirty and I need to perform this several times (don't want to need many hidden divs).     Ok, what i'm trying to do here is to make the exact code found here here ordered list and make it so that it doesn't just not work when i try to add additional elements into the list. Also i'm planning on using the more effecient one linked to at the end but i cannot put it here so you'll have to find that link on your own sadly. Since i'm trying to use this for a knowledge base page i want to allow people to be able to search through the items on the page and go to the proper part(ie loading it into the viewing area) but it's not letting me even include a simple anchor in there. if there is anyway to do something similar or to edit it so that it'll include everything within the <li> that'd be great. I don't know if anyone out there has done something like this before, but if they have and wouldn't mind sharing the code with me i'd be extremely happy. If no one has but does know how to make it include everything within the <li> including text also a great thing to have. I imagine that i won't be the only person out there in this world with my exact query.

    I have a form on which I use validation. This form has a section for photo upload. Initially this section contains six elements with the following code: <img class="photo_upload" src="image/app/photo_upload.jpg"> I have bound a function to the click event for the class of photo_upload. This function replaces the image with a minimal form with this code: Copy code <form onsubmit="startUploadImage();" target="control_target" enctype="multipart/form-data" method="post" action="index.php"> <input type="hidden" value="add_image" name="service"> <input type="hidden" value="1000000" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE"> <input type="file" size="10" name="photo" id="photo_file_upload"><br> <button onclick="javascript:cancel_photo_upload();return false;">Cancel</button> </form> So, essentially, after the image is clicked, I'd have a new form nested in my original, validated form. Now, when I use this new form and upload an image, I receive an error (repeated three times) saying: validator is undefined http://host.com/path/index.php Line 286 What is going on here? My guess is this Submit event bubbles up to the outer form As we have validation on that form, validation is triggered, Validation tries to find the form triggering it, Since we have not bound validation to the inner form it returns 'undefined' Now, is my assessment correct? Whether it is or not, how can I solve this issue?

  • WCF REST with jQuery AJAX - removing/working around same origin policy

    So I'm trying to create a C# WCF REST service that is called by jQuery. I've discovered that jQuery requires that AJAX calls are made under the same origin policy. I have a few questions for how I might proceed. I am already aware of; 1. The hacky solution of JSONP with a server callback 2. The way too much server overhead of having a cross-domain proxy. 3. Using Flash in the browser to make the call and setting up crossdomain.xml at my WCF server root. I'd rather not use these because; 1. I don't want to use JSON, or at least I don't want to be restricted to using it 2. I would like to separate the server that serves static pages from the one that serves application state. 3. Flash in this day in age is out of the question. What I'm thinking: is there anything like Flash's crossdomain.xml file that works for jQuery? Is this "same-origin" policy a part of jQuery or is it a restriction in specific browsers? If it's just a part of jQuery, maybe I'll try digging in the code to work around it.

    Is is possible to execute a JQuery function by injecting it into the page? IT CAN'T be attached to the .ready function. The reason is that the user will be uploading an image via iframe.     Right now...the dateISO method is as follows: dateISO: function(value, element) { return this.optional(element) || /^\d{4}[\/-]\d{1,2}[\/-]\d{1,2}$/.test(value); }, but ive noticed that when a user enters something like 1991-99-99 it sees it as a "valid date" when it obviously is not. How would i change this code to have it check if the month is 01-12 and the date is 1-31?
