• Swing layout with miglayout and nested panels

  I have a Swing program using SwingLayout. The structure of the Swing components looks like this. JFrame JPanel (Cardlayout) JPanel (Miglayout) - Main panel Jpanel (Flowlayout) - Checkbox Panel JPanel (Flowlayout) - Option Panel My problem right now is that I'm not sure how to prevent the checkbox panel from growing. I don't want it to "push" out the column that it's in to the right. I want Wraplayout (which works fine on the option panel) to wrap the content of the checkbox panel when it grows too big. This is the view of it from the Windowsbuilder GUI inside of Eclipse. The panel with the label "sites" in it is the Checkbox Panel. Directly to the right of the Checkbox panel is the Option panel. The big panel containing both of them is the main panel. http://i.imgur.com/S7Njo.png This is what happens when I add too many checkboxes http://i.imgur.com/f2SZz.png My main problem is that I don't understand why setting "grow 0" on the column constraint for the first column in mainpanel doesn't prevent it from growing when the component inside gets too big as I add new checkboxes to the site panel (the site panel can have an arbitrary number of checkboxes). This is my miglayout for the main panel. mainPanel.setLayout(new MigLayout("", "[][grow]", "[][][][][][][][grow]")); Here are my component constraints for when I add the checkbox panel siteCheckBoxPanel = new JPanel(); mainPanel.add(siteCheckBoxPanel, "cell 0 0,alignx left,gapx 0px,aligny center"); siteCheckBoxPanel.setLayout(new FlowLayout(FlowLayout.CENTER, 5, 5)); I've also tried it without flow layout, and that doesn't fix anything. Any insight you could provide would be great! I'm also happy to provide more information if people have questions. FYI I've also tried "grow 0" on both the column and row constraint for the cell that the Checkbox Panel is inside.

• Multiple undo managers for a text view

  Hi, I've a text view that gets its content from an attributed string stored in a model object. I list several of these model objects in a drawer and when the user clicks on one the text view swaps its content. I now need to also swap the undo manager for the text view. I initialise an undo manager on my model object and use undoManagerForTextView to return it to the text view, but something's not quite right. Strategically placed logging statements show me that everything's working as planned: on startup a new model object is initialised correctly and a non-null undo manager is always pulled by the text view. But when it comes to actually doing undo, I just can't get the behaviour I want. I open a window, type something and press cmd+z, and undo works. I open a window, type something, select a new model on the table, type something, go back to the first model and try to undo and all I get is a beep. Something on the documentation made me raise an eyebrow, as it would mean that I can't have undo with several model objects: The default undo and redo behavior applies to text fields and text in cells as long as the field or cell is the first responder (that is, the focus of keyboard actions). Once the insertion point leaves the field or cell, prior operations cannot be undone.

  I'm working with a UI that has a (YUI2) JSON DataSource that's being used to populate a DataTable. What I would like to do is, when a value in the table gets updated, perform a simple animation on the cell whose value changed. Perhaps the whole table is being redrawn every time the data is queried, so it doesn't know or care about changes to individual cells?. Is the solution to write my own specific function to replace onDataReturnReplaceRows? Could someone enlighten me on how I might go about accomplishing this? Edit: After digging through datatable-debug.js, it looks like onDataReturnReplaceRows won't fire the cellUpdateEvent. It calls reset() on the RecordSet that's backing the DataTable, which deletes all of the rows; it then re-populates the table with fresh data. I tried changing it to use onDataReturnUpdateRows, but that doesn't seem to work either.

I also can't figure how I could get serialnumber and backlightlevel to display on the click of a button or even at load. My attempts have thrown back errors like error: 'serialnumber' undeclared (first use in this function) and warnings like warning: 'return' with a value, in function returning void. • Access to multiple ItemRenderers within an AdvancedDataGrid

  I've create an AdvancedDataGrid where most of the cell are based on an ItemRenderer. The custom ItemRenderer (SoundBox) extends VBox. This custom component allow for simple changes in the background color based on user clicking on a cell. • How to get image's coordinate on JPanel

  This question is related to my previous question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2376027/how-to-generate-cartesian-coordinate-x-y-from-gridbaglayout I have successfully get the coordinate of each pictures, however when I checked the coordinate through (System.out.println) and the placement of the images on the screen, it seems to be wrong. e.g. if on the screen it was obvious that the x point of the first picture is on cell 2 which is on coordinate of 20, but the program shows x=1. • Jquery Flexigrid reload only if flexigrid initially ran

  Im trying to use flexigrid to show results using the values from a form. So when a person clicks a form I want it to load the flexigrid function if its the first time the person clicked the button to initialize the table. Then if someone adjusts the values in the form then clicks the button again it then reloads the flexigrid table with the new form values. How can I do this in one function? • iPhone SDK background thread image loading problem

  I have created a grid view that displays six "cells" of content. In each cell, an image is loaded from the web. There are a multiple pages of this grid (the user moves through them by swiping up / down to see the next set of cells). Each cell has its own view controller. When these view controllers load, they use an ImageLoader class that I made to load and display an image. These view controllers implement an ImageLoaderDelegate that has a single method that gets called when the image is finished loading. ImageLoader does its work on a background thread and then simply notifies its delegate when it is done loading, passing the image to the delegate method. Trouble is that if the user moves on to the next page of grid content before the image has finished loading (releasing the GridCellViewControllers that use the ImageLoaders), the app crashes. I suspect that this is because along the line, an asynchronous method finishes and attempts to notify its delegate but can't because it's been released. • Get data from database without refresh whole page

  Hello everybody. My project is about a school admin I have a page called : createClass.php, where user inserts grade, profile etc. When he press "submit" page called createdClass.php is loading. Inside this page I have all code which insert data into database and also an "if" structure which says : "Class already exists" if in database is another class with same specifications. Also in second page (createdClass.php) i have a small table which shows the place of each student. First time all cells are green (this means that place is free) and if i click one of them appear a popup window which let me to add info about student from that place. If a place is busy the cell will be red (take a look here : http://screencast.com/t/NzM2YzYxNjct). The big problem is that the cell will be red only after refresh the page (the place ask for data from database). If I press refresh appears "class already exists". To test the code i added in a comment all lines which verify and add respectively classroom . I think my problem can be solved with ajax. I'm waiting for an answer. Regards Stefan

As #content's width is variable (depending on the width of the window), how to I make it so that the sidebar is always at the right-most part of its parent? Ex.   Dear All, I have a little problem. I have developed a midlet application that call some webservices through internet. I'm using cell phones with GPRS connection. For some time it runs as I wanted, run the apps, call the webservices through the GPRS, it returns the result, call the webservices again, and so on. But say, I call the webservices and after the apps return the result I needed, I left it for a while. The next time I continue to access the webservices, the apps takes a while to connect through the GPRS. In nokia, it is marked with a G in a box. In SE it is marked with a glowing globe. This 'G' in the box or the glowing globe will appear after a while or won't appear at all, but the apps is still trying to connect to the internet. Does it come from my apps or it come from the cell phone? And could I know [or the apps knows] that at the moment the apps tries to connect the GPRS is ready? Thanks a lot for your responses...

All this data is read from a file having a particular format, it is <name of fruit/vegetable price <available or not The names of fruits and vegetable do not change , it will be same for both the tables. However, it might be possible that data for a particular fruit/vegetable is not present. if it is not present the the column for that should show N/A with white background. I cannot use MIME:Lite for this. Need to use print <<ENDHTML;

The Execute() function in my class is definitely retrieving a row from the database, but doesn't seem to be returning anything. The following function is contained in a class called DataAccessLayer. The class contains functions Connect and Disconnect which handle opening and closing the connection. • Is it possible to search locally in jqGrid with treeGrid installed

  I am using jqGrid with treeGrid. I have added a filterToolbar. I would like to search locally instead of having a server call. The treegrid docs say that, "When we initialize the grid and the data is read, the datatype is automatically set to local." So, is it possible to implement local search with treeGrid. I tried the below configuration, but it is resulting in server calls. • UITableViewCells of different heights place their accessoryViews at different X positions

  Hey Guys, My app has some table cells that vary in height. The cells can also have a UIButton set to be a detail disclosure button (round, blue with arrow) as their accessory view. Depending on the height of the cell, the accessory view is positioned differently. At first I thought it was my layout code for my cell that was causing the problem, so I set up a quick independent test that uses vanilla UITableCells to remove the possibility that it could be my fault. I set up a view in interface builder, and just added a view table cells to the view, set their heights to different values and then added a detail disclosure button to each. Nothing more, nothing less. This is what I see: I added the size guides (thanks to Xscope) so you can see the difference in the accessory view x positions. The heights are: top 37px mid 68px bottom 44px (default, untouched height) If I increase the height any heigher than 68px the accessory view doesn't move any further to the left. Is this a bug? Is there any way I can prevent this from happening?

  In my excel file, I have a table setup with formulas. with Cells from Range("B2:B12"), Range ("D2:D12"), and etc every other row containing the answers to these formulas. for these cells (with the formula answers), I need to apply conditional formatting, but I have 7 conditions, so I've been using "select case" in VBA to change their interior background based on their number. I can input my data, let the formulas work, and when everything is ready, I can run the macro and format those specific cells. I want an easy way to do this, obviously I could waste a load of time, typing out all the cases for every cell, but I figured it'd be easier with a loop. how would I go about writing a select case loop to change the formatting on a a specific range of cells every other row? thank you in advance.

• How do you keep the text selection on a DataGridView?

  I'm running C# 2.0, and I've written an application with a DataGridView in virtualmode and a TreeView in the same form, but in different panels of a SplitContainer. My application has a "find all" function that finds all instances of a certain string, and adds them as the child nodes to a new node to the TreeView (it's a tree view because you can have multiple search results by having different root nodes). That idea is that when you click on one of those search results in the TreeView, that it would select the specific text of that result in the DataGridView (Virtually the same as Notepad++'s find all function) When I click on the TreeView, it does set the selected cell of the DataGridView and highlight the specific text, but it loses that specific text selection instantly (but keeps the cell selection) because by clicking on the TreeView the DataGridView loses focus. • Can't find solution for CSS vertical align for Firefox

  I have a problem with DIV vertical align in Firefox The HTML code is: <div class="mess"><div class="rpl"><img src="img/16.png" width="16" height="16" border="0"></div><div class="pic"><img src="img/1.png" width="100" height="100" border="0"></div></div> The CSS looks like: .mess{ float:left; width:658px; border-top:1px solid #CCC;padding-top:5px; } .rpl{ position: relative;width:19px; float:left;top: 20%;display: table-cell; vertical- align: middle; padding-top:20px; } .pic{width:100px; float:left; padding-bottom:5px;margin-right:10px; } I'm trying to put "rpl" DIV at the vertical middle of the "mess" DIV. In IE it looks fine but I can't get it right in Firefox (always at the top of the "mess" div) I tried with display: inline,display: table-cell for "rpl" DIV but with no effect in FF. Is there any solution for vertical align for DIV in FF?

  I am dealing with an old iPhone OS 2.x project and I want to keep compatibility, while designing for 3.x. The problem there is that I am trying to assing to arg2, a constant that has not been defined in OS 2.0. As everything with NSInvocation is to do stuff indirectly to avoid compiler errors, how do I set this constant to a variable in an indirect way? Some sort of performSelector "assign value to variable"... is that possible? thanks for any help.

• Use of clone() and appendTo() with draggable - unexpected results with dragging

  I'm constructing a UI for a doctor scheduling app. We have several doctors, each of whom can go in one of several locations on a scheduled day (M - F). I have the main day/location grid (table) in the center of the screen. At the left is a table for the doctor names. On loading, each table cell contains a span (outlined) with the doctor name. The doctor name can go in one slot for each day. I didn't want to just put 5 copies of the doctor name, because the doctor might not be available all 5 days of the week. The idea was: Drag the span and drop into the calendar table. On the drag "start" event, clone the span and append it to the table cell. Now there is another span ready to be dropped into the calendar table. One line of code does the work: $(ui.helper).clone(true).prependTo(ui.helper.parent()); This works. But when I move the cloned span, the original one moves in sync - preserving the spatial relationships as I move the clone around (no doubt there's a "position:relative;left=XX;top=YY" inserted somewhere). I'm sure there's a way to do what I'm thinking of, while keeping the two spans independent. But I'm not thinking of one. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks!
