Say when editing Google document A and want to put a link to open document B. Is there any way to do this? Thanks.
PS. I don't want both docs being shared.
For example:
Lets say i have 10 servers (Server 1-Server10) and a csv list where i have the servernames and a individual Foldername/Path for each server.
How would i create these Folders on each machine?
a) Open all 10 connections and run a command based on the csv ?
b) stepping through 1by1
Please point me to the most effective way
I'm looking for a Firefox add-on that can detect or monitor a webpage for certain text or words and redirect to another predetermined page if found.
So basically, when someone surfs the web, and they stumble upon a site that contains a particular text or phrase, such as "enemy", the extension will pick up on that and redirect to another page, say example.com.
Hey, I have a bluetooth "headset" (it's more like a speaker with a microphone on it, but it registers as a headset) and I want to play music through it. I also want to play the same music through the "normal" speakers on the laptop. Is this possible?
If so, is it possible to play two different streams on each speaker? Say if I wanted to DJ a party or something, I'd want to hear the upcoming song and mix it before sending it live.
So let's say I have a network of less than 20 computers including a server that needs to be accessed externally. What router/firewall solutions would you recommend? It can be either hardware or software and would need to be able to do
NAT
Firewall
DMZ
Native VPN if possible
Some form of network bandwidth monitoring
Update: I've accepted the answer I liked but this question probably doesn't have a definitive answer, it would depend on your requirements. Please leave more suggestions with an explanation as to why it works well in your situation.
Could you share with me a few reputable businesses/websites where I can quickly onboard a RHEL/Centos Linux admin or even a MySQL admins (say if I need help with disaster recovery). I have a cloud server, and I would like to task an admin to perform specific maintenance or even periodic. With the abundance of solely-run cloud servers, I would imagine there's a demand for this type of service (certainly for me).
If you were launching a new app today, with all the choices what would you choose?
Cloud Hosting (Heroku, AppFog)
VPS Hosting (just about anybody)
Dedicated Servers (The Planet, RackSpace, etc.)
I know this can be a very subjective question, but let's just go with the broad strokes here. Lets say you had an app, you don't know how it's going to do, but you want to be prepared for if it does take off, what would you go with?
Is there a way to automagically determine if a program is running and close it at scheduled time, say 3 am every day?
Maybe use task scheduler to close said application? if this is possible any direction would be appreciated.
Vista or Win7
What kind of dress code do you have at work as a systems administrator?
Business casual, casual, some days casual, some days business casual, formal? It's safe to say "it all depends on the type of day we're planning on having" - but what happens if you need to speak to some C level personnel? Do you have a spare set of clothes?
Hi Team,
While preparing a Word 2007 document, I made a mistake. (Not to say I don't have any other copy of the document)
While formatting (as a try) I applied the style "Apply Style to Body to match selection". This caused the document to go totally in a wronfg format - having numbers even in tables.
Have you ever faced this? Could you please tell how to correct it?
Thanks
Lijo
The official recommendation of Ubuntu is to use sudo do-release-upgrade to do an online upgrade from one version to the next. Historically many of my Debianite friends and myself have simply altered apt's sources.list and run apt-get dist-upgrade.
I follow Ubuntu's recommendations, but I've always wondered what the magic difference between these two processes is. What, exactly, does do-release-upgrade do, on say an upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10? (Examples from other releases welcome.)
Hi,
I am shocked that I still don't understand "Execute" permission in linux. There are three permission - read, write, and execute. I understand that read and write literally, but what does execute do exactly? Let's say I have example.php with execute permission. What can I do with example.php???
I have a MacBook 2010 and I installed Windows 7 Ultimate using Boot Camp. I can't connect to the Internet. I have a wireless rooter in my house. Internet Explorer say's that maybe the wireless adapter isn't turned on. How do I connect to the Internet without using a cable?
How can I do an inverse ARP lookup in Windows and/or Linux? Say that I have the MAC address of wireless access point which is up and running in the network, but I forgot it's IP address?
I have the problem that when I send my computer to sleep it wakes if you bump the table, floor, burp etc. I have read many threads that say go to Device Manager Mouse Properties Power Management Tab and uncheck the box for wake.
My problem is I do not have a Power Management Tab! Anyone know how to enable the tab or stop the mouse from waking my machine?
And no, turning it upside down doesn't work either!
Is there a difference between the actual chips intended for Dual Channel vs Triple Channel. I bought a set of triple channel memory but I'm only using 2 of the 3 chips. I'm getting the error "Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 197.45 stopped responding and has successfully recovered" There seems to be a TON of discussion on the web about this and some say it might be RAM related. This is the ram I'm using.
Thanks
Do such things exist? I wouldn't mind paying $100 to $200 for one, but it must:
Have a very fast spin-up to ready time (less than one second)
Have an even faster dismount time (say, half second)
Can go from dead stop to laying down bits in two seconds or less
Can be instantly abortable and resettable regardless of current operational state
Does anyone know of such an animal?
I have a report that I want to deliver every hour, I can see how to do that fine.
BUT I don't the report to run every hour, just during the addressee's working hours.*
no need to be to clever here , just say 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday would be fine.
Hi, I'm using Snow Leopard and I've just downloaded Google Chrome for Mac. However it doesn't load any page:
This webpage is not available.
Error 104 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_FAILED): The attempt to connect to the server failed.
I've googled about it but I had no luck, only answers for Windows. Needless to say I have no firewalls and every other browser or application can connect to the internet.
The title say sit all, but why does restarting a computer tend to fix things? It seems like IT folks always ask, "Have you restarted your PC?" But Why?
If the title doesn't say it all let me know. This would be helpful for IMAP folders within T-bird, when I'm looking through threads on a particular issue, but don't know if I sent the last message to the recipient, or they sent the last message to me.
I would be able to quickly scroll in one column and see exactly when the last communication on that issue was.
Is there a way to make a 'smart' column that would do this?
Would It be possible to connec my xbox 360 to a second AirPort Extreme, wherein this AirPort Extreme is wirelessly linked to the first?
I assume it is and is straight forward, but I thought I'd ask first. Also, would an Ethernet to a second AirPort Extreme be any faster than, say, a dual band wifi connection from a MacBook? Obviously environmental factors play in, but I'm mostly curious about the relative receiving strength of the airport vs laptop.
Let's say /usr/local/bin/ruby is running in the background, and then we overwrite ruby with a different version, or even delete ruby.
What will happen to those running ruby processes?
My document root (suddenly and unexpectedly) changed to /htdocs from /var/www. This happened after I restarted apache2.
The only thing I changed was the httpd.conf file which now reads as follows:
<VirtualHost *>
ServerName hostname
UseCanonicalName ON
</VirtualHost>
I've greped through the entire /etc directory looking for DocumentRoot and they all say /var/www.
So I use a custom Hotmail domain name. Sometimes I send emails to people but they never reply. I ask these people and they say that they never got the email. It's like packets are being dropped somehow. I just send regular emails from the online email application. One thing to note is that most of the time the dropped emails are the emails that have not been sent to other Hotmail users.
