  • Not able to capture Enter key in WinForms text box

    When the user is entering a number into a text box, I would like them to be able to press Enter and simulate pressing an Update button elsewhere on the form. I have looked this up several places online, and this seems to be the code I want, but it's not working. When data has been put in the text box and Enter is pressed, all I get is a ding.     I am trying to use an update trigger in sql 2000 so that when an update occurs, I insert a row into a history table, so I retain all history on a table: CREATE Trigger trUpdate_MyTable ON MyTable FOR UPDATE AS INSERT INTO [MyTableHistory] ( [AuditType] ,[MyTable_ID] ,[Inserted] ,[LastUpdated] ,[LastUpdatedBy] ,[Vendor_ID] ,[FromLocation] ,[FromUnit] ,[FromAddress] ,[FromCity] ,[FromProvince] ,[FromContactNumber] ,[Comment]) SELECT [AuditType] = 'U', D.* FROM deleted D JOIN inserted I ON I.[ID] = D.[ID] GO Of course, I get an error "Cannot use text, ntext, or image columns in the 'inserted' and 'deleted' tables." I tried joining to MyTable instead of deleted, but because the insert triger fires after the insert, it ends up inserting the new record into the history table, when I want the original record. How can I do this and still use text columns?

    I would like to create something like identicons but not with images but with a unique word for each IP-Adresses and MAC-Adresses. create an easy to remember alias for a mac address, that is unique and reverse lookupable, for example: IP 123.456.789.132 will result in an alias for that IP, that is connected to an existing word from a wordlist, that is unique. Background of this idea: this way we could identify our Routers in our Opennet in Hamburg easily in a graphical NodeGraph. Is there some site already, where I can convert MAC-Adresses to unique human readeable words?

I'm sorry I can't provide a link, I work on a local server currently. It works perfectly =) but... my problem is : an <input type="text" /> won't be clickable in this environment. I tried the others type of input, radio, checkbox, file : works. But text does not. I can specify a value on my input (it's its purpose on my work : a search in a database for datas to be modified and reinjected in database). In fact, I can access to the text input by clicking-right in then left. But it's pretty 'unergonomic', and in my project it's unthinkable. Ah, and I tried to style this input with a style="z-index:1000;", no changes, I think it's not a CSS problem. Does anybody have an idea ? Thank you very much in advance.

    Hi All, I am writing a tool which generates some Spreadsheet ML (XML) to create an Excel spreadsheet for my users. I have defined a style as follows: <Style ss:ID="GreenText"> <Font ss:FontName="Arial" ss:Size="9" ss:Color="#8CBE50" /> </Style> This works to an extent, but when I open it in Excel the colour rendered for the text isn't the one I specified - it's a brighter version. I can use the same colour reference for a cell border and the colour is rendered correctly. Can anyone shed any light on why the text colour isn't rendered correctly? Thanks!

  • SqlCommand() ExecuteNonQuery() truncates command text.

    I'm building a custom db deployment utility, I need to read text files containing sql scripts and execute them against the database. Pretty easy stuff, so far so good. However I've encountered a snag, the contents of the file are read successfully and entirely, but once passed into the SqlCommand and then executed with SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery only part of the script is executed.   • Consistent newlines in FTP mode for text files?

    I use Linux for hosting and editing code, but there are others at work that are using Windows. Sometimes they make the files have \r\n in them, and it's causing problems with version control. Should they be using the ASCII mode in their FTP manager? Should that force the line endings to be \n when uploading from Windows to Linux?

    I just noticed that if you give a html button a fixed width, the text inside the button is never wrapped. I've tried it with word-wrap, but that cuts of the word even though there are spaces available to wrap on.   • Extracting Text from between parentheses in PHP using preg_replace

    I am trying to take a string of text like so: $string = "This (1) is (2) my (3) example (4) text"; In every instance where there is a positive integer inside of parentheses, I'd like to replace that with simply the integer itself. The code I'm using now is: $result = preg_replace("((\d+))", "$0", $string); But I keep getting a "Delimiter must not be alphanumeric or backslash" error. Any thoughts? I know there are other questions on here that sort of answer the question, but my knowledge of regex is not enough to switch it over to this example.

    Hey guys, I am working on a game, and wanted to add a screen that would open when the user clicked on certain objects. The screen would be laid out to have an image on the left, a title on the top right, and text below the title. I have a few problems with this, 1) How would I create the popup box? (preferably with rounded edges) 2) How would I wrap the text (in front of the picture, but not outside the popup-box, I may even need vertical scroll bars) 3) How would I account for different screen resolutions (would they even make a difference?)   • Replace newline from MySQL TEXT field to parse w/ JSON

    Hi, "replace newline" seems to be a question asked here and there like hundred times already. But however, i haven't found any working solution for myself yet. I have a textarea that i use to save data into DB. Then using AJAX I want to get data from the DB in the backend that is in TEXT field and to pass it to frontend using JSON. But pasing JSON returns an error, as new lines from DB are not valid JSON syntax, I guess i should use \n instead... But how do i replace newlinew from DB with \n? I've tried this $t = str_replace('<br />', '\n', nl2br($t)); and this $t = preg_replace("/\r\n|\n\r|\r|\n/", "\n", $t); and using CHAR(13) and CHAR(10), and still I get an error the new line in textarea is equivalent to, i guess $t = 'text with a newline'; it gives the same error. And in notepad i clearly see that it is crlf

For example, I have path: Path firstPath = new Path(); firstPath.Stroke = Brushes.Black; firstPath.StrokeThickness = 1; myCanvas.Children.Add(firstPath); LineGeometry firstLine = new LineGeometry(); firstPath.Data = firstLine; And somewhere I define line's Start and End point's. The path is binded to controls (for example - two ellipses) and when I drag one of them, the line is dynamically resized and moved to be pinned to both objects. And now I wand to add some text, that would fit to this line and follow it. Any recommendations how to do this?

  • Implementing full text search on iPhone?

    I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to implement a full-text search on some static data on the iPhone. Basically I have an app that contains the offline version of a web site, about 50MB of text, and I'd like for users to be able to search for terms. I figure that I should somehow build an table of ("word", reference_to_file_containing_word) or something, put that into either Core Data or just sqlite, index the "word" column, then have the search facility search the table for search terms and take the intersection of the sets of results for the terms or something. That wouldn't allow people to search for phrases but it would be pretty easy and probably not too slow. I'd like to just use existing SDK features for this. Should I use Core Data or sqlite? Does anyone have any other ideas on how this could be done?

  • iPhone Text entry with completion and DONE button (not search)

    Using iPhone SDK 3.0, I wish to allow text entry with (optional) completion options that appear as typing is occurring, i.e. also allowing freeformat entry. As such I am using a UISearchBar (which has the text change events) and a UISearchDisplayController to present options. The problems is I want the DONE button to say DONE and not SEARCH, however I cannot find a way to set that. Clearly I feel I am missing something, or Interface Builder of the SDK API would have some property to set. I have seen other apps (in the store) that have achieved the result I want (free format entry, completion, DONE button) so maybe there is an alternative approach I am missing.   • translate by replacing words inside existing text

    What are common approaches for translating certain words (or expressions) inside a given text, when the text must be reconstructed (with punctuations and everythin.) ? The translation comes from a lookup table, and covers words, collocations, and emoticons like L33t, CUL8R, :-), etc. Simple string search-and-replace is not enough since it can replace part of longer words (cat dog ? caterpillar dogerpillar). Assume the following input: s = "dogbert, started a dilbert dilbertion proces cat-bert :-)" after translation, i should receive something like: result = "anna, started a george dilbertion process cat-bert smiley" I can't simply tokenize, since i loose punctuations and word positions. Regular expressions, works for normal words, but don't catch special expressions like the smiley :-) but it does . re.sub(r'\bword\b','translation',s) ==> translation re.sub(r'\b:-\)\b','smiley',s) ==> :-) for now i'm using the above mentioned regex, and simple replace for the non-alphanumeric words, but it's far from being bulletproof. (p.s. i'm using python)
