  • Automake: How add a building step?

    - by gege2061
Hello, Currently, I have a build chain, completly manage by automake, like: .vala > .c > .o > .exe I would like add a new step for preprocess a XML file .ui into a vala source: .ui > .vala > .c > .o > .exe I did this, in makefile.am gtkbuilder2vala_SOURCES = \ abstract-window.ui \ main.vala \ $(NULL) And: XSLTPROC = xsltproc .ui.vala: $(XSLTPROC) ... But make don't understand: make: *** No rule to make target `abstract-window.c', needed by `gtkbuilder2vala-abstract-window.o'. Stop. This seems to be a limitation of make: http://www.ensta.fr/~diam/dev/online/autoconf/autobook/autobook_180.html if the translation takes three steps--from .m' to.x', then from .x' to.c', and finally to `.o'---then Automake's simplistic approach will break. Have you another idea?

  • Mercurial hook to disallow committing large binary files

    - by hekevintran
I want to have a Mercurial hook that will run before committing a transaction that will abort the transaction if a binary file being committed is greater than 1 megabyte. I found the following code which works fine except for one problem. If my changeset involves removing a file, this hook will throw an exception. The hook (I'm using pretxncommit = python:checksize.newbinsize): from mercurial import context, util from mercurial.i18n import _ import mercurial.node as dpynode '''hooks to forbid adding binary file over a given size Ensure the PYTHONPATH is pointing where hg_checksize.py is and setup your repo .hg/hgrc like this: [hooks] pretxncommit = python:checksize.newbinsize pretxnchangegroup = python:checksize.newbinsize preoutgoing = python:checksize.nopull [limits] maxnewbinsize = 10240 ''' def newbinsize(ui, repo, node=None, **kwargs): '''forbid to add binary files over a given size''' forbid = False # default limit is 10 MB limit = int(ui.config('limits', 'maxnewbinsize', 10000000)) tip = context.changectx(repo, 'tip').rev() ctx = context.changectx(repo, node) for rev in range(ctx.rev(), tip+1): ctx = context.changectx(repo, rev) print ctx.files() for f in ctx.files(): fctx = ctx.filectx(f) filecontent = fctx.data() # check only for new files if not fctx.parents(): if len(filecontent) > limit and util.binary(filecontent): msg = 'new binary file %s of %s is too large: %ld > %ld\n' hname = dpynode.short(ctx.node()) ui.write(_(msg) % (f, hname, len(filecontent), limit)) forbid = True return forbid The exception: $ hg commit -m 'commit message' error: pretxncommit hook raised an exception: apps/helpers/templatetags/include_extends.py@bced6272d8f4: not found in manifest transaction abort! rollback completed abort: apps/helpers/templatetags/include_extends.py@bced6272d8f4: not found in manifest! I'm not familiar with writing Mercurial hooks, so I'm pretty confused about what's going on. Why does the hook care that a file was removed if hg already knows about it? Is there a way to fix this hook so that it works all the time? Update (solved): I modified the hook to filter out files that were removed in the changeset. def newbinsize(ui, repo, node=None, **kwargs): '''forbid to add binary files over a given size''' forbid = False # default limit is 10 MB limit = int(ui.config('limits', 'maxnewbinsize', 10000000)) ctx = repo[node] for rev in xrange(ctx.rev(), len(repo)): ctx = context.changectx(repo, rev) # do not check the size of files that have been removed # files that have been removed do not have filecontexts # to test for whether a file was removed, test for the existence of a filecontext filecontexts = list(ctx) def file_was_removed(f): """Returns True if the file was removed""" if f not in filecontexts: return True else: return False for f in itertools.ifilterfalse(file_was_removed, ctx.files()): fctx = ctx.filectx(f) filecontent = fctx.data() # check only for new files if not fctx.parents(): if len(filecontent) > limit and util.binary(filecontent): msg = 'new binary file %s of %s is too large: %ld > %ld\n' hname = dpynode.short(ctx.node()) ui.write(_(msg) % (f, hname, len(filecontent), limit)) forbid = True return forbid

  • How can two eclipse plugin use the same preferences store?

    - by St.Shadow
I have two plugins, say com.site.plugin.core and com.site.plugin.ui. I'd like to separate core part from UI part, so at plugin com.site.plugin.ui I created Preferences page where I defined some preferences, which should be used by com.site.plugin.core. I check article at Eclipse site, but it is quite outdated, and linked bug also do not provide much info. So is it possible to do this using standard Eclipse mechanism, or I need use direct low-level API via package org.eclipse.core.runtime.preferences?

  • PHP: Proper way of using a PDO database connection in a class

    - by Cortopasta
    Trying to organize all my code into classes, and I can't get the database queries to work inside a class. I tested it without the class wrapper, and it worked fine. Inside the class = no dice. What about my classes is messing this up? class ac { public function dbConnect() { global $dbcon; $dbInfo['server'] = "localhost"; $dbInfo['database'] = "sn"; $dbInfo['username'] = "sn"; $dbInfo['password'] = "password"; $con = "mysql:host=" . $dbInfo['server'] . "; dbname=" . $dbInfo['database']; $dbcon = new PDO($con, $dbInfo['username'], $dbInfo['password']); $dbcon->setAttribute(PDO::ATTR_ERRMODE, PDO::ERRMODE_EXCEPTION); $error = $dbcon->errorInfo(); if($error[0] != "") { print "<p>DATABASE CONNECTION ERROR:</p>"; print_r($error); } } public function authentication() { global $dbcon; $plain_username = $_POST['username']; $md5_password = md5($_POST['password']); $ac = new ac(); if (is_int($ac->check_credentials($plain_username, $md5_password))) { ?> <p>Welcome!</p> <!--go to account manager here--> <?php } else { ?> <p>Not a valid username and/or password. Please try again.</p> <?php unset($_POST['username']); unset($_POST['password']); $ui = new ui(); $ui->start(); } } private function check_credentials($plain_username, $md5_password) { global $dbcon; $userid = $dbcon->prepare('SELECT id FROM users WHERE username = :username AND password = :password LIMIT 1'); $userid->bindParam(':username', $plain_username); $userid->bindParam(':password', $md5_password); $userid->execute(); print_r($dbcon->errorInfo()); $id = $userid->fetch(); Return $id; } } And if it's any help, here's the class that's calling it: require_once("ac/acclass.php"); $ac = new ac(); $ac->dbconnect(); class ui { public function start() { if ((!isset($_POST['username'])) && (!isset($_POST['password']))) { $ui = new ui(); $ui->loginform(); } else { $ac = new ac(); $ac->authentication(); } } private function loginform() { ?> <form id="userlogin" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" method="post"> User:<input type="text" name="username"/><br/> Password:<input type="password" name="password"/><br/> <input type="submit" value="submit"/> </form> <?php } }

  • How to implement two way binding between an ActiveX control and a WPF MVVM View Model

    - by Zamboni
I have a WPF application implemented using the MVVM framework that uses an ActiveX control and I need to keep the WPF and ActiveX UI synchronised. So far I can update the ActiveX UI when I change the WPF UI using the code at the bottom of the question that I got from the article Hosting an ActiveX Control in WPF and this question. But I cannot update the WPF UI when I make a change in the ActiveX UI. I suspect that I need to fire the PropertyChanged event from my ActiveX control but I have no idea how to do this or if it is even possible. The ActiveX controls I have written are in VB6 and MFC as I am just prototying at this time for the eventual integration of VB6 ActiveX controls in a WPF contaner application. Here is a code snipet that indicates the work done so far: System.Windows.Forms.Integration.WindowsFormsHost host = new System.Windows.Forms.Integration.WindowsFormsHost(); // Create the ActiveX control. AxTEXTBOXActiveXLib.AxTEXTBOXActiveX axWmp = new AxTEXTBOXActiveXLib.AxTEXTBOXActiveX(); // Assign the ActiveX control as the host control's child. host.Child = axWmp; axWmp.DataBindings.Add(new System.Windows.Forms.Binding("ActiveXStatus", (MainWindowViewModel)this.DataContext, "ModelStatus", true, DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged )); // Add the interop host control to the Grid // control's collection of child controls. this.activexRow.Children.Add(host); How to implement two way binding between an ActiveX control and a WPF MVVM View Model?

  • Validation in n-tier asp.net mvc applications

    - by sTodorov
Dear Stack Overflow gurus, I am looking for some practical/theoretical information regarding best practices for validation in asp.net mvc n-tier applications. I am working on a .Net application divided into the following layers: UI - Mvc3 BLL layer - all business rules. Decoupled from data access and UI layers through interfaces DAL layer - Data access with the repository pattern, EF4 and pocos Now, I am looking for a nice, clean and transparent way to specify my validation rules. Here are some thoughts on the matter so far: UI validation should only be responsible for user input and its validity. BLL validation should be handling the validity of the data regarding the application business rules. My main concern is how to bind the BLL and UI validation in the most efficient way. One think I am would like to avoid is having the UI check in a collection of validation and adding manually errors to the ModelState. Furthermore, I do not want to pass the ModelState to the BLL to be populated in there. I will appreciate any thoughts on the matter. P.S. Should this question be marked as a discussion ?

  • Unit Testing in the real world

    - by Malfist
I manage a rather large application (50k+ lines of code) by myself, and it manages some rather critical business actions. To describe the program simple, I would say it's a fancy UI with the ability to display and change data from the database, and it's managing around 1,000 rental units, and about 3k tenants and all the finances. When I make changes, because it's so large of a code base, I sometimes break something somewhere else. I typically test it by going though the stuff I changed at the functional level (i.e. I run the program and work through the UI), but I can't test for every situation. That is why I want to get started with unit testing. However, this isn't a true, three tier program with a database tier, a business tier, and a UI tier. A lot of the business logic is performed in the UI classes, and many things are done on events. To complicate things, everything is database driven, and I've not seen (so far) good suggestions on how to unit test database interactions. How would be a good way to get started with unit testing for this application. Keep in mind. I've never done unit testing or TDD before. Should I rewrite it to remove the business logic from the UI classes (a lot of work)? Or is there a better way?

  • Regex for retrieving the parameter of the css url function...

    - by Kieron
Hi, I'm trying to get the url portion of the following string: url(images/ui-bg_highlight-soft_75_cccccc_1x100.png) So the required part if images/ui-bg_highlight-soft_75_cccccc_1x100.png. Currently I've got this: url\((?<url>.*)\) But it seems to be choking on the following example: url(images/ui-bg_flat_0_aaaaaa_40x100.png) 50% 50% repeat-x; opacity: .30;filter:Alpha(Opacity=30) Which results in images/ui-bg_flat_0_aaaaaa_40x100.png) 50% 50% repeat-x; opacity: .30;filter:Alpha(Opacity=30... I'd like to make sure that it supports as many variations as possible (additional whitespace etc). Thanks! Kieron

  • Is there an Unobtrusive Captcha for web forms?

    - by KP
What is the best unobtrusive CAPTCHA for web forms? One that does not involve a UI, rather a non-UI Turing test. I have seen a simple example of a non UI CAPTCHA like the Nobot control from Microsoft. I am looking for a CAPTCHA that does not ask the user any question in any form. No riddles, no what's in this image.

  • jQuery datepicker years shown

    - by John Boker
With the jQuery datepicker, how does one change the year range that is displayed? On the jQuery UI site it says the default is "10 years before and after the current year are shown". I want to use this for a birthday selection and 10 years before today is no good. Can this be done with the jQuery datepicker or will I have to use a different solution? link to datepicker demo: http://ui.jquery.com/repository/latest/demos/functional/#ui.datepicker

  • SharePoint extensions for VS - which version have I got?

    - by Javaman59
I'm using Visual Studio 2008, and have downloaded VSeWSS.exe 1.2, to enable Web Part development. I am new to SP development, and am already bewildered by the number of different versions of SP, and the VS add-ons. This particular problem has come up, which highlights my confusion. I selected Add - New Project - Visual C# - SharePoint- Web Part, accepted the defaults, and VS created a project, with the main file WebPart1.cs using System; using System.Runtime.InteropServices; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts; using System.Xml.Serialization; using Microsoft.SharePoint; using Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls; using Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages; namespace WebPart1 { [Guid("9bd7e74c-280b-44d4-baa1-9271679657a0")] public class WebPart1 : System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.WebPart { public WebPart1() { } protected override void CreateChildControls() // <-- This line { base.CreateChildControls(); // TODO: add custom rendering code here. // Label label = new Label(); // label.Text = "Hello World"; // this.Controls.Add(label); } } } The book I'm following, Essential SharePoint 2007, by Jeff Webb, has the following for the default project - using System; <...as previously> namespace WebPart1 { [Guid("9bd7e74c-280b-44d4-baa1-9271679657a0")] public class WebPart1 : System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.WebPart { // ^ this is a new style (ASP.NET) web part! [author's comment] protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer) // <-- This line { // This method draws the web part // TODO: add custom rendering code here. // Label label = new Label(); // writer.Write("Output HTML"); } } } The real reason for my concern is that in this chapter of the book the author frequently mentions the distinction between "old style" web parts, and "new style" web parts, as noted in his comment on the Render method. What's happened? Why has my default Web Part got a different signature to the authors?

  • Linking buttion to jQuery through service

    - by Ruddy
I have a small problem that should be very easy to overcome. For some reason I cant work this out. So the problem is I cannot get a button to link to some jquery. My set-up is as follows (showing the relevant code): Default.aspx jQuery: function getContent() { var data = { numberID: 1 }; $.jsonAspNet("ContentService.asmx", "GetContent", data, function (result) { $('#content').html(result); }); } jQuery(document).ready(function () { getContent(); } HTML: <div id="content"></div> ContentService.vb Public Function GetContent(number As Integer) As String Dim sb = New StringBuilder sb.AppendLine("<table>") sb.AppendLine("<tr>") sb.AppendLine("<td class='ui-widget-header ui-corner-all'>Number</td>") sb.AppendLine("</tr>") sb.AppendLine("<tr>") sb.AppendLine("<td>" & number & "</td>") sb.AppendLine("<td><a href='#' id='test' class='fg-button ui-state-default ui-corner-all'><img src='" & Context.Request.ApplicationPath & "/images/spacer.gif' class='ui-icon ui-icon-pencil' /></a></td>") sb.AppendLine("</tr>") sb.AppendLine("</table>") Return sb.ToString End Function So that's the basics of what I have everything works but I'm not sure how to get the button (id='test') to get linked to some jQuery. I want it to be pressed and bring up a popup. I have tried to put the jQuery on default.aspx but this doesn't seem to work unless the button is place in the HTML on that page. $('#test').unbind('click').click(function () { alert('Working'); }); I'm sure this is easy to be able to do but I have been trying for a while and cannot seem to get it to work.

  • Unable to connect SQL Server instance from Visual Studio 2008 Version 9.0

    - by salvationishere
I am getting the below error from VS on an 32-bit XP Professional server even though I set Tools-Options-Database Tools-Data Connections to "SIDEKICK", which is the name of my computer. In other words SIDEKICK should default to the full SQLSERVER. In other words, I want VS to use SQLSERVER instead of SQLSERVER EXPRESS. And I can clearly see my database both from VS in the Server Explorer and also in SSMS 2008. Furthermore, I can view the tables of this database in Server Explorer from VS. I do not get any build errors. And it looks like all of the naming is consistent in my web.config file. I am developing my website according to a Microsoft tutorial, so I should not be getting an error. Yet I get the following exception when I run this code below: CreateAccounts.aspx.cs file protected void CreateAccountButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { MembershipCreateStatus createStatus; //This line below is where the exception occurs MembershipUser newUser = Membership.CreateUser(Username.Text, Password.Text, Email.Text, passwordQuestion, SecurityAnswer.Text, true, out createStatus); And here is what the exception looks like: System.Web.HttpException was unhandled by user code Message="Unable to connect to SQL Server database." • Java: Possible to consolidate empty subdirectories for packages that only contain other packages?

    - by BinaryMuse
Good afternoon, all. I'm not too hopeful for a "yes" here, but if anyone can figure it out, the folks at SO can. I have a Java project that has the following package structure: src |-net | |-binarymuse | |-gwt | |-client | | |-ui | | |-project | | |-Project.java | |-Project.gwt.xml |-overview.html I would like to consolidate the empty subdirectories in the src/ folder so that instead of /src/net/binarymuse/gwt/client/ui/project/ I'd have /src/net.binarymuse.gwt/client.ui.project/. Is this possible? Thanks.

  • Decoupling the view, presentation and ASP.NET Web Forms

    - by John Leidegren
I have an ASP.NET Web Forms page which the presenter needs to populate with controls. This interaction is somewhat sensitive to the page-life cycle and I was wondering if there's a trick to it, that I don't know about. I wanna be practical about the whole thing but not compromise testability. Currently I have this: public interface ISomeContract { void InstantiateIn(System.Web.UI.Control container); } This contract has a dependency on System.Web.UI.Control and I need that to be able to do things with the ASP.NET Web Forms programming model. But neither the view nor the presenter may have knowledge about ASP.NET server controls. How do I get around this? How can I work with the ASP.NET Web Forms programming model in my concrete views without taking a System.Web.UI.Control dependency in my contract assemblies? To clarify things a bit, this type of interface is all about UI composition (using MEF). It's known through-out the framework but it's really only called from within the concrete view. The concrete view is still the only thing that knows about ASP.NET Web Forms. However those public methods that say InstantiateIn(System.Web.UI.Control) exists in my contract assemblies and that implies a dependency on ASP.NET Web Forms. I've been thinking about some double dispatch mechanism or even visitor pattern to try and work around this.
