  • Why would you use "AS" when aliasing a SQL table?

    I just came across a SQL statement that uses AS to alias tables, like this: SELECT all, my, stuff FROM someTableName AS a INNER JOIN someOtherTableName AS b ON a.id = b.id What I'm used to seeing is: SELECT all, my, stuff FROM someTableName a INNER JOIN someOtherTableName b ON a.id = b.id I'm assuming there's no difference and it's just syntactic sugar, but which of these is more prevalent/wide-spread? Is there any reason to prefer one over the other?

  • Bash sourcing of functions in other languages

    This is, perhaps, a silly question, but it's something that I've wondered about: is it possible to, say, define a Ruby/Python/Perl/etc. function in some file and then source it in Bash (to make it available anywhere in the current shell)? At the moment, I "source" scripts/functions in other languages by creating a bash alias that executes that script... But I wonder if it's possible for Bash to interpret those other functions directly? Thanks. :)

  • tabexpansion doesn't fall through if overridden

    The tabexpansion function only works partially when I override it like so: function tabexpansion { param($line, $lastWord) if ($line -eq "hey ") { "you", "Joe" } } The custom completions work as expected, but now I only get the default autocomplete behavior for cmdlet names, not parameters. So New-TAB works fine, but New-Alias -TAB doesn't. How do I get the regular completions too after overriding tabexpansion?

Dict[objCommandMessage.IDS_SPEC1_COMPONENT1_MODULE1_STRING1] therefore i should be able to do something like this Dict[str1] where str1 is alias for objCommandMessage.IDS_SPEC1_COMPONENT1_MODULE1_STRING1, How do i do it?

  • How to store UISegmentedControle state in NSUserdefaults

    The problem is when de selectedSegmentIndex is unselected: "UISegmentedControlNoSegment" alias "-1". The other states (0, 1, 2 , etc.), I can store as Integers and retrieve with carTypeSegmentedControl.selectedSegmentIndex = [defaults integerForKey:@"typeOfCar"]; But -1 is no NSInteger. I also tried to remove the Integer out of the NSUserdefaults but a request would return an "0", which is not acceptable. So, is there another easy way? tnx for reading

I think its because of 0.15 So how can I update (using DQL) balance without additional SELECT queries to User's table to fetch his balance, calculate new balance and do query like Doctrine_Query::create()->from('User')->update('balance', '?', $new_balance)->execute();

  • Clojure vars and Java static methods

    I'm a few days into learning Clojure and are having some teething problems, so I'm asking for advice. I'm trying to store a Java class in a Clojure var and call its static methods, but it doesn't work. Example: user=> (. java.lang.reflect.Modifier isPrivate 1) false user=> (def jmod java.lang.reflect.Modifier) #'user/jmod user=> (. jmod isPrivate 1) java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No matching method found: isPrivate for class java.lang.Class (NO_SOURCE_FILE:0) at clojure.lang.Compiler.eval(Compiler.java:4543) From the exception it looks like the runtime expects a var to hold an object, so it calls .getClass() to get the class and looks up the method using reflection. In this case the var already holds a class, so .getClass() returns java.lang.Class and the method lookup obviously fails. Is there some way around this, other than writing my own macro? In the general case I'd like to have either an object or a class in a varible and call the appropriate methods on it - duck typing for static methods as well as for instance methods. In this specific case I'd just like a shorter name for java.lang.reflect.Modifier, an alias if you wish. I know about import, but looking for something more general, like the Clojure namespace alias but for Java classes. Are there other mechanisms for doing this? Edit: Maybe I'm just confused about the calling conventions here. I thought the Lisp (and by extension Clojure) model was to evaluate all arguments and call the first element in the list as a function. In this case (= jmod java.lang.reflect.Modifier) returns true, and (.getName jmod) and (.getName java.lang.reflect.Modifier) both return the same string. So the variable and the class name clearly evaluate to the same thing, but they still cannot be called in the same fashion. What's going on here? Edit 2 Answering my second question (what is happening here), the Clojure doc says that If the first operand is a symbol that resolves to a class name, the access is considered to be to a static member of the named class... Otherwise it is presumed to be an instance member http://clojure.org/java_interop under "The Dot special form" "Resolving to a class name" is apparently not the same as "evaluating to something that resolves to a class name", so what I am trying to do here is something the dot special form does not support.

    Is it possible to configure CruiseControl.NET to send an email to the user(s) that did modifications to a broken build by mapping their SVN username to the corresponding Active-Directory alias (hence retrieving the correct, updated email address). Our SVN server is set-up to allow users of a certain Active-Directory group to read and commit changes: I don't want to have to maintain the CruiseControl.NET config every time a user gets added to our Programmers group in Active-Directory.     There are two tables in postgres db. english_all and english_glob First table contains words like international,confidential,booting,cooler ...etc I have written the function to get the words from english_all then perform for loop for each word to get word list which are not inserted in anglish_glob table. Word list is like I In Int Inte Inter .. b bo boo boot .. c co coo cool etc.. for some reason zwnj(zero-width non-joiner) is added during insertion to english_all table. But in function I am removing that character with regexp_replace. For above 3 words inner two loop will apply to get words like f,fo,foo,foot,foote,footer,s,se,set,sett,settl .... etc. In the final process words which are bold will be entered into english_glob with another parameter like 1 to denote it is a proper word and stored in the another filed of english_glob table.
