  I initiated myself into rails development yesterday. I installed ruby 1.9.1 , rubygems and rails. Running 'gem install mongrel' worked fine and ostensibly installed mongrel too. • org.hibernate.TransientObjectException during Criteria.list()

  I have seen posts all over the internet that talk about how to fix the TransientObjectExceptions during save/update/delete but I am having this problem when calling list on my Criteria. I have two objects A and B. A has a field named b which is of type B. In my mapping b is mapped as a many-to-one. This all runs in a larger persistence framework (the framework is kind of like Core Data) and so I don't use any cascades in my hibernate mappings since cascades are handled at a higher level. This is the interesting code surrounding my criteria: A a = new A(); B b = new B(); a.setB(b); session.save("B", b); // Actually handled by the higher level session.save("A", a); // framework, this is just for clarity // transaction committed and session closed ... // new session opened Criteria criteria = session.createCriteria(A.class); criteria.add(Restrictions.eq("b", b)); List<?> objects = criteria.list(); Basically I am looking for all objects of type A such that A.b equals a particular instance of b (I actually tried restructuring a query so that I was passing in the id of b just to make sure that b wasn't causing me problems). • Spinner cannot load an integer array?

  I have an application, which has a Spinner that I want populated with some numbers (4,8,12,16). • Why does keyboard-slide crash my app?

  If I physically slide out the keyboard on my Moto Droid A855, it crashes my test app with the stack trace pasted below. I don't understand why? Also, if I start my app with the keyboard out, my app crashes immediately on startup. The app consists of an activity, which contains a viewflipper as the main view layout. • JSplitPane giving wrong resize cursor with GTK LAF?

  Running the official JSplitPane demo http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/splitpane.html on my Ubuntu system gives a resize cursor like -- over the divider. The behavior of native split panes gives <-- resize cursors. Does this qualify as a bug that should be reported to Sun (eh, Oracle)? Is there a workaround?

I am working on NetBeans 6.8 with Personal Glassfish 3.0 and I have installed on my system both the Java EE and the Java SE.   I'm using the Flamingo ribbon and the Substance Office 2007 look and feel. Of course now every control has this look and feel, even those on dialog boxes. What I want is something like in Office 2007, where the ribbons have their Office 2007 look, but other controls keep their native Vista/XP look. Is it possible to assign certain controls a different look and feel? Perhaps using some kind of chaining or a proxy look and feel?

• Is there a C# (.net) library similar to GNU readline?

  I'm considering writing a console application in C# and I want to incorporate history, completion and command line editing features something like GNU readline (but not necessarily as extensive as that!) Is there an existing library for .net which provides this type of functionality? I guess one option would be to use interop services to call GNU readline. But is there a native option? Paul.
