  • Testing a scoped find in a Rails controller with RSpec

    I've got a controller called SolutionsController whose index action is different depending on the value of params[:user_id]. If its nil, then it simply displays all of the solutions on my site, but if its not nil, then it displays all of the solutions for the given user id. Here it is: def index if(params[:user_id]) @solutions = @user.solutions.find(:all) else @solutions = Solution.find(:all) end end and @user is determined like this: private def load_user if(params[:user_id ]) @user = User.find(params[:user_id]) end end I've got an Rspec test to test the index action if the user is nil: describe "GET index" do context "when user_id is nil" do it "should find all of the solutions" do Solution.should_receive(:find).with(:all).and_return(@solutions) get :index end end end however, can someone tell me how I write a similar test for the other half of my controller, when the user id isn't nil?     In my database, assume we have a table defined as follows: CREATE TABLE [Chemical]( [ChemicalId] int NOT NULL IDENTITY(1,1) PRIMARY KEY, [Name] nvarchar(max) NOT NULL, [Description] nvarchar(max) NULL ) The value for Name can be very large, so we must use nvarchar(max). Unfortunately, we want to create an index on this column, but nvarchar(max) is not supported inside an index. So we create the following computed column and associated index based upon it: ALTER TABLE [Chemical] ADD [Name_Indexable] AS LEFT([Name], 20) CREATE INDEX [IX_Name] ON [Chemical]([Name_Indexable]) INCLUDE([Name]) The index will not be unique but we can enforce uniqueness via a trigger. If we perform the following query, the execution plan results in a index scan, which is not what we want: SELECT [ChemicalId], [Name], [Description] FROM [Chemical] WHERE [Name]='[1,1''-Bicyclohexyl]-2-carboxylic acid, 4'',5-dihydroxy-2'',3-dimethyl-5'',6-bis[(1-oxo-2-propen-1-yl)oxy]-, methyl ester' However, if we modify the query to make it "sargable," then the execution plan results in an index seek, which is what we want: SELECT [ChemicalId], [Name], [Description] FROM [Chemical] WHERE [Indexable_Name]='[1,1''-Bicyclohexyl]-' AND [Name]='[1,1''-Bicyclohexyl]-2-carboxylic acid, 4'',5-dihydroxy-2'',3-dimethyl-5'',6-bis[(1-oxo-2-propen-1-yl)oxy]-, methyl ester' Is this a good solution if we control the format of all queries executed against the database via our middle tier?     I am unable to use the following to code to play multiple sounds/beeps simultaneously.     Hello, I am new to Javascript and Web development and I have a question regarding the document.location.href. I am using a cookie for storing the language the user prefers and then load the english or the swedish version depending on the language. The default language in the beginning is the same as the browser's language, and my index.jsp is the swedish one. The first time everything works fine. The problem is when the cookie exists already. The basic code is: if (language!=null && language!=""){ if (language=="en-US" || language=="en-us") document.location.href = "en/index.jsp"; } else{ //Explorer if (navigator.userLanguage) language = navigator.userLanguage; //other browsers else language = (navigator.language) ? navigator.language : navigator.userLanguage; if (language!=null && language!=""){ setCookie('language', language, 365, '/', 'onCheck'); if (language=="en-US" || language=="en-us") document.location.href = "en/index.jsp"; else if(language=="sv") document.location.href="index.jsp"; } } When the cookie exists we enter the first "if", and there, if the language is swedish it opens the default blabla/index.jsp page. When the language is set to engish it should open the blabla/en/index.jsp but instead it opens the blabla/en/en/index.jsp which of course is wrong. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?? Thanks

  • Drawing and filling different polygons at the same time in MATLAB

    Hi,I have the code below. It load a CSV file into memory. This file contains the coordinates for different polygons.Each row of this file has X,Y coordinates and a string which tells that to which polygon this datapoint belongs. for example a polygone named "Poly1" with 100 data points has 100 rows in this file like : Poly1,X1,Y1 Poly1,X2,Y2 ... Poly1,X100,Y100 Poly2,X1,Y1 ..... The index.csv file has the number of datapoint(number of rows) for each polygon in file Polygons.csv. These details are not important. The thing is: I can successfully extract the datapoints for each polygon using the code below. However, When I plot the lines of different polygons are connected to each other and the plot looks crappy. I need the polygons to be separated(they are connected and overlapping the some areas though). I thought by using "fill" I can actually see them better. But "fill" just filles every polygon that it can find and that is not desirable. I only want to fill inside the polygons. Can someone help me? I can also send you my datapoint if necessary, they are less than 200Kb.   • How to get acts on taggable working

    I am new to ruby on rails (and programming) and this is probably a really stupid question. I am using Rails 3.2 and trying to use acts_as_taggable_on to generate tags on articles and to have those tags show on article index and show pages as a clickable links. I have tags clickable on both the article show and index pages, but the links just go back to the index page and don't sort according to the tag name. I have scoured the Internet and pieced together the code below from various sources, but I am clearly missing something. Any help is greatly appreciated, as I have exhausted my seemingly limited knowledge! Thanks.     Hi. I have this script. This determines if there is a flash player installed in the browser, it redirects the browser to a flash website. if not, then it opens a non-flash website. (That way only 4 bits are needed per piece) Doing it in that way, results in a overhead for accessing particular index of the board. Can anyone tell me why the session cant pass values from verify.php to /memberarea/index.php
