• closing sockets on linux and windows

  Hello, gcc 4.4.4 c89 Visual Studio VC++ 2008 I am writing a cross platform client server application. It will run on both linux and windows. However, I am just wondering what I have done for closing the sockets is correct. I close the file descriptor. However, if there is a problem with closing it. What is the best way to handle this. Maybe some data is still being sent or received? • Why is it when I set "closeOnEscape" to false and then "closeOnEscape" to true jquery dialog escape

  Hi I am using jquery ui 1.8 and I have a model dialog that popups up and if a user clicks on a checkbox another one comes up. This requires them to say "yes" or "no" so I removed the "X" on the dialog and put closeOnEscape to false. However I noticed when I did that the model dialog underneath it would close when they hit escape. So now when the one that pops up when the checkbox is checked I disable closeOnEscape on the first dialog box. When they close it I enable again yet it does not work. I am not sure why $("#Dialog").dialog( "option", "closeOnEscape", true); I even do this in firebug. I just open my first dialog up Do this in firebugs console $("#Dialog").dialog( "option", "closeOnEscape", false); Then verify that escape is now disabled. I then try to enable it again $("#Dialog").dialog( "option", "closeOnEscape", true); Yet it never enables.

  Let me try to explain the situation the best I can. Lets say I have 3 values 1, 2, 3 I tell an algorithm to split this values into x columns. Lets say x = 2 for clarification. The algorithm determines that the group of values is best put into two columns the following way. 1st column 2nd column --------------------------- 1 3 2 Each column has an even number (totals, not literals) value. Now lets say I have the following values 7, 8, 3, 1, 4 I tell the algorithm that I want the values split into 3 columns. The algorithm now tells me that the following is the best fit. 1st column 2nd column 3rd column 8 7 3 1 4 Notice how the columns arent quiet even, but it is as close as it can get. A little over and a little under is considered ok, as long as the list is AS CLOSE TO EVEN AS IT CAN BE. Anybody got any suggestions? Know any good methods of doing this?

  I have a webfaction account and I install openerp-server 6.1.1, when a start the server from ssh session it's works, when I close the session it close the server too. So I'm trying to start the server with cron. From cron I call a script like this: */1 * * * * ~/webapps/openerp/start.sh And the script: .bash_profile openerp-server -c /home/usuario/webapps/openerp/server.conf It doesn't work.... But if I call the script from the command line the server load ok.... It any way to debug this?

Now when I try and free that result like so: $result->free(); or $result->close(); It seems like it doesn't do anything because $result is still set. When I try to run another query it gives me this error: Fatal error: Call to a member function fetch_array() on a non-object in... For me to run this other query I have to close the db conection and connect again, then it will work. I want to know if there is a way I could run the other query without having to disconnect and reconnect to the database. thanks in advance.

After the form is filled in and the "Submit" button is pressed I would like to have a new window. I see two potential ways to do it: Close the "old" window and open a "new" one. Remove "old" elements from the existing window and put there "new" elements. What is the standard way to go? If it is the first way, what is the command to close the window?   There is a particular directory (/var/www), that when I run ls (with or without some options), the command hangs and never completes. There is only about 10-15 files and directories in /var/www. What else should I do to investigate this problem? It just randomly started happening today. UPDATE dmesg is a big list of things, mostly related to an external USB HDD that I've mounted too many times and the max mount count has been reached, but that is an un-related problem I think.
