• Wirelss card not being detected in backtrack 5

  I just installed backtrack 5 and I am unable to detect my wireless card. iwconfig doesn't list my interface. I can see that the hardware is present in lspci -vnn (see below) but I can't get the interface detected. I have tried to reinstall the compat-wireless package but I get errors during the build (see below) I have done a ton of researching and I keep hitting a brick wall, mostly because the wiki for backtrack is down and I can't find any good resources. Does anyone know how to fix the issue? Also, does anyone no how I can scan the hardware to determine what NIC is assigning my interface? If I can figure out the interface name I think I can set it up manually by putting up the link and using wireless-tools to manually configure the connection, this is what I had to do in arch on my mac. As stated the wiki for backtrack is down and I can't find any help on the issue. I tried to do the full kernel upgrade suggested in my software update but after the update was complete and I logged back in I had a new log in manager and the only thing I was able to log into was window managers. However, after this update my wireless was working fine. Please help I am new to Linux and the wiki is down, I have nowhere else to turn. Forgot to mention I am using the KDE version, not Gnome. • Which network protocol to use for lightweight notification of remote apps?

  I have this situation.... Client-initiated SOAP 1.1 communication between one server and let's say, tens of thousands of clients. Clients are external, coming in through our firewall, authenticated by certificate, https, etc.. They can be anywhere, and usually have their own firewalls, NAT routers, etc... They're truely external, not just remote corporate offices. They could be in a corporate/campus network, DSL/Cable, even Dialup. Client uses Delphi (2005 + SOAP fixes from 2007), and the server is C#, but from an architecture/design standpoint, that shouldn't matter. Currently, clients push new data to the server and pull new data from the server on 15-minute polling loop. The server currently does not push data - the client hits the "messagecount" method, to see if there is new data to pull. If 0, it sleeps for another 15 min and checks again. We're trying to get that down to 7 seconds. If this were an internal app, with one or just a few dozen clients, we'd write a cilent "listener" soap service, and would push data to it. But since they're external, sit behind their own firewalls, and sometimes private networks behind NAT routers, this is not practical. So we're left with polling on a much quicker loop. 10K clients, each checking their messagecount every 10 seconds, is going to be 1000/sec messages that will mostly just waste bandwidth, server, firewall, and authenticator resources. So I'm trying to design something better than what would amount to a self-inflicted DoS attack. I don't think it's practical to have the server send soap messages to the client (push) as this would require too much configuration at the client end. But I think there are alternatives that I don't know about. Such as: 1) Is there a way for the client to make a request for GetMessageCount() via Soap 1.1, and get the response, and then perhaps, "stay on the line" for perhaps 5-10 minutes to get additional responses in case new data arrives? i.e the server says "0", then a minute later in response to some SQL trigger (the server is C# on Sql Server, btw), knows that this client is still "on the line" and sends the updated message count of "5"? 2) Is there some other protocol that we could use to "ping" the client, using information gathered from their last GetMessageCount() request? 3) I don't even know. I guess I'm looking for some magic protocol where the client can send a GetMessageCount() request, which would include info for "oh by the way, in case the answer changes in the next hour, ping me at this address...". Also, I'm assuming that any of these "keep the line open" schemes would seriously impact the server sizing, as it would need to keep many thousands of connections open, simultaneously. That would likely impact the firewalls too, I think. Is there anything out there like that? Or am I pretty much stuck with polling? TIA, Chris

• Problems with MGCP proxy creation

  Hi, I'm trying to bypass my ISP router with my FreeBSD server (I've an optical connection so I've a RJ45 used to connect the box to WAN) Internet and TV are working fine (Using igmpproxy to forward TV stream) but I've a problem with phone. ISP's box is connected to the server which gives it a LAN address. The problem is that when the box builds MGCP packets (and especially SDP ones) it uses its LAN address. So I've think of writing an UDP proxy to handle MGCP and SDP packets in order to replace LAN address with server WAN address and then forward packet to WAN. Before starting coding I've captured stream packets using my server as a bridge between WAN connection and the ISP's box. And, in order to see if my solution is viable, I've tried to send those packets to the box using nemesis. I tried to send a packet (found in capture) containing an endpoint audit: AUEP 1447 aaln/[email protected] MGCP 1.0 F: A In the wireshark capture the box replied: 200 1447 OK A: a:PCMU;PCMA;G726-16;G726-24;G726-32;G726-40;G.723.1-5.3;G.723.1-6.3;G729;TELEPHONE-EVENT, fmtp:"TELEPHONE-EVENT 0-15,144,149,159", p:10-30, b:4-40, e:on, t:00, s:on, v:L;M;G;D, m:sendonly;recvonly;sendrecv;inactive;confrnce;replcate;netwtest;netwloop, dq-gi But when I use nemesis, I got an ICMP error: Port unreachable (Type 3, Code 3). To build this packet, WAN source address of the capture is replaced with my server LAN address, using the mgcp-callagent port (2727) and the packet is sent to the LAN address of the box at mgcp-gateway port (2427). The command I use is nemesis udp -S 192.168.2.1 -D 192.168.2.2 -x 2727 -y 2427 -P packet_to_send. I also tried an UDP scan to the box on callagent and gateway port: PORT STATE SERVICE 2727/udp open|filtered unknown 2427/udp closed unknown I found those results a little bit strange because it should be the 2427 port opened, as it was in capture. • Recovering data from failed Raid configuration with 4 drives and two raid sets (Asus P6T / Intel ICH10r)

  I've added the complete detailed version for my question below for those who can help, but want to quickly summarize my question first. I setup two Raid arrays using (4) WD Raptors, a striped set for the OS and 1+0 set for crucial data. After booting once out of the 50 times a cable fell out, the drive wasn't recognized in the array anymore. After trying to fix it, another drive did the same. I now have two drives remaining, luckily with the parity information. I know the striped set is gone, but I need the data on the other set. Can anyone recommend anything to recover the data, or fix the two drives that doesn't allow the raid controller to recognize the drives, even though they are listed on the utility screen as still apart of the configuration but that they are not found? More Details I recently upgraded to a ASUS P6T motherboard with an Intel ICH10R raid controller and changed my previous 4 drive raid array from strictly a Raid 1+0 set to a Raid 0 for the OS/Page/Scratch drive and a Raid 1+0 set for crucial data. I never had problems after upgrading with my configuration, even when a drive died and was replaced. I managed to rebuild the array fine. Unfortunately this time around, a cable came unattached and I booted my system up until the raid status screen with the degraded error. This shouldn't have been a problem, but after I attached the drive it was no longer recognized as a member in the array. Both drives actually show up as a non-member disk. I've spent a very, very long time online trying to find information or support and haven't had much luck. After spending time trying to scan the drive for errors, damaged partition info, etc.. another drive in the set decided it didn't want to be recognized as a part of the array. At this point, I have two out of the four drives still functioning, but the Raid 1+0 array went from degraded to failed and I must find a way to retrieve that data. I think the two drives still in the array have the parity information because they show up as OS (110GB),BACKUP(80GB) and OS:1(110GB),BACKUP(80GB) under windows data management. The other two are simply 74gb Raw unallocated Is it possible recover the data using those two drive only, and which tool would I use? Could it be a simple partition table or any other error that is repairable with hard drive utilities out there? I know the Raid 0 set is done for, but I would assume because the correct drives failed in a 1+0 config to save the data I can retrieve it some how.

• Frequent and weird wifi disconnections

  How would you explain, troubleshoot (and solve) the following problem? Wifi ADSL modem router D-link 2640R installed in living room at about 1.8m height. Working fine, synchronising and getting/serving stable internet connection. First situation: -Laptop 01 in other end of the house, let's say in room01 southern to the living room, distant by about 15m. Getting stable signal of good to very good quality. No disconnection. -Laptop 02 in room02 opposite to room01 (5m West) which makes it almost at the same distance and direction from the router located 15m North. Getting stable signal of good to very good quality. No disconnection. Second situation: -Laptop 01 moved to room03 Northern to the living room (actually just 3m behind the wall where the router lies). Getting stable signal of excellent quality. No disconnection. -Laptop 02 still in room02 but now experiences frequent disconnections (actually almost impossible to get the Internet even though the signal level is still very good. Either no Internet with the wifi icon appearing connected to access point or no connection established at all which happens every 2 minutes and that means virtually no Internet at all as I can just get a timeframe of 1 minute or so to load any website or even get to the router's web based control panel. If Laptop 01 is completely shut down or its wifi adapters shut down or even still working but its wifi MAC address forbidden, then Laptop 02 has no problem at all. If Laptop 02 is moved to a nearer location to the router, in the living room for instance, then no connection problem occurs even if Laptop 01 is also connected. And also if we move back Laptop 01 to its original location (room 01), then no problem as well. I'm completely lost and don't know how to address this issue. I tried to change the Wifi channel and even tried the auto channel scan but that didn't solve it. I know that the problem is probably coming from Laptop 01 being in its new location or some sort of interference as the problem occurs only under the described condition but I have no idea how to solve it! I also scanned the neighborhood for wifi jam using InSSIDer, there are few other access points but they don't seem to affect the situation. Any ideas about the steps to follow or tools to use ?

• Anti-virus protection question?

  About 4 years ago, I found Kaspersky and have been using the most current version since. Most people try and argue the use of AVG or Avast to me, and there are some very solid reasons I do not go that route. Over the years, I have found Kasp to become bulkier and bulkier, and have had issues setting it up for friends/family/clients. I am just curios on possible recommendations from other users, with my criteria in mind: What I like about Kasp in the past: The license sold in stores in a 3 pack, is considered a commercial license, and emails from Kasp in response to my questions, make it clear that I can do with the 3 licenses that I want, providing I do not use more than 3 installs per Key. So, allowed me to buy 3, 5, and 7 packs, and resell to users at a cheaper cost than what they would pay if they bought their own license. The ability to easily obtain a currently updated .exe for installation on multiple peoples machines. Power of the scan. Kasp has been a good solution for me (even when using a trial license) on cleaning up machines that were badly infected (in which AVG and AVAST were unable to.) Speed of install/update. After a cleanup of malwarebytes, spybot, mcafee stinger, ccleaner, and combofix, I used to be able to get Kasp Int Security installed and updated in around 5 minutes. The issues that I have with the free AV, is strength of protection. In my opinion for someone who is a 'power use' these are good alternatives, because such a user should be trained or knowledgeable enough to be careful and not get themselves in trouble. Most of the users I assist, are too PC ignorant to know any better, and go hogwild on the web. It has been my experience that the number of people coming back to me with spyware/malware/virus issues since I have converted from AVG to Kasp has been cut down to around 20% of what it used to be 4 or 5 years ago. In a perfect world, I could install and use Kasp Internet Security 2008, and be very happy. But this is not the case anymore. So after this long description of what I used, and have used, does anyone have any good recommendations on AV that isn't going to cost me too much per install?

• Network Services disabled (not starting) on Windows XP

  I am currently running Windows XP Service Pack 3 on my system. But today, when I failed to connect to the internet, via a LAN cable, I realized that almost all of the vital network services had stopped functioning. Any attempts to start it through services.msc gives me the following message: Could not start the DNS Client Service on Local Computer Error 1068: The dependency service group failed to start All my software or services that are related to networking have stopped functioning, for example, Windows Firewall is turned off permanently, so is my Avast Anti-Virus' service of Real Time Shields and Web Shield. When I insert the LAN wire into my laptop, it registers itself, but this is what I get when I do a ping localhost C:>ping localhost Unable to contact IP driver, error code 2 Moveover, with ipconfig I get this : Windows IP Configuration An internal error occurred: The request is not supported. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for further help. Additional Information: Unable to query host name On some further poking around, I saw that none of the "NETWORK SERVICE" process in task manager, except svchost.exe were running. Also, when I first opened the task manager, I saw some 20 processes running with username column empty for most of them. With some search in Google, I found out that these services were important, DHCP DNS Net logon Network connection Network location Awareness TCP/IP Net BIOS Helper none of them, except Network Connections are working, they do not start. The event viewer of my system shows a bunch of 7000 and 7001 event errors. I have tried re installing the network driver, booting in safe mode with networking and tried to enable those services mentioned above. I had disabled System Restore some time back, so I have no restore points for my system. I tried a lot of things from Google searches but none of them worked. Also, with such a long list of issue, I am a little confused as to what should I search on the internet. :( One more thing I would like to mention, previous morning, my anti-virus Avast detected a RootKit buried deep in my system folders. It was removed, but maybe this was a problem caused by the root kit. I did run a boot-time scan but no viruses were found. Please please please advice. Is formatting and re-installation of Windows my only option?

• Handle property change event listeners (lots of them) more elegantly (dictionary?)

  hELLO ! Here i have a simple class example with three fields of type class B and some other stuff. As you can see im listening on every child object change. Since i could need alot of properties of type class B i wonder if there is a way of shrinking the code. Creating a listener + a method for each seems like i will have ALOT of code. How would i fix this ... using a dictionary or something similar? • Fast response on first Socket I/O request but slow every other time when communicating with remote serial port

  I'm using sockets to pass Serial commands to a remote device. And the response to that request is sent back and printed out. However, I am having a problem in that the first time it is instant but the rest of the time it can take up to 20 seconds to receive a reply. • ZFS Recover from Faulted Pool State

  I have a six disk ZFS raidz1 pool and had a recent failure requiring a disk replacement. No problem normally, but this time my server hardware died before I could do the replacement (but after and unrelated to the drive failure as far as I can tell). I was able to get another machine from a friend to rebuild the system, but in the process of moving my drives over I had to swap their cables around a bunch until I got the right configuration where the remaining 5 good disks were seen as online. This process seems to have generated some checksum errors for the pool/raidz. I have the 5 remaining drives set up now and a good drive installed and ready to take the place of the drive that died. However, since my pool state is FAULTED I'm unable to do the replacement. root@zfs:~# zpool replace tank 1298243857915644462 /dev/sdb cannot open 'tank': pool is unavailable Is there any way to recover from this error? I would think that having 5 of the 6 drives online would be enough to rebuild the right data, but that doesn't seem to be enough now. I added the '-X' option to the above command to try to make it check the transaction log. I let that run for about 48 hours before giving up because it had completely locked up my machine (I was unable to log in locally or via the network). Now I'm trying a simple zpool import tank command and that seems to run for a while with no output. I'll leave it running overnight to see if it outputs anything.

• Which network protocol to use for lightweight notification of remote apps (Delphi 2005)

  I have this situation.... Client-initiated SOAP 1.1 communication between one server and let's say, tens of thousands of clients. Clients are external, coming in through our firewall, authenticated by certificate, https, etc.. They can be anywhere, and usually have their own firewalls, NAT routers, etc... They're truely external, not just remote corporate offices. They could be in a corporate/campus network, DSL/Cable, even Dialup. Currently, clients push new data to the server and pull new data from the server on 15-minute polling loop. The server currently does not push data - the client hits the "messagecount" method, to see if there is new data to pull. If 0, it sleeps for another 15 min and checks again. We're trying to get that down to 7 seconds. If this were an internal app, with one or just a few dozen clients, we'd write a cilent "listener" soap service, and would push data to it. But since they're external, sit behind their own firewalls, and sometimes private networks behind NAT routers, this is not practical. So we're left with polling on a much quicker loop. 10K clients, each checking their messagecount every 10 seconds, is going to be 1000/sec messages that will mostly just waste bandwidth, server, firewall, and authenticator resources. So I'm trying to design something better than what would amount to a self-inflicted DoS attack. I don't think it's practical to have the server send soap messages to the client (push) as this would require too much configuration at the client end. But I think there are alternatives that I don't know about. Such as: 1) Is there a way for the client to make a request for GetMessageCount() via Soap 1.1, and get the response, and then perhaps, "stay on the line" for perhaps 5-10 minutes to get additional responses in case new data arrives? i.e the server says "0", then a minute later in response to some SQL trigger (the server is C# on Sql Server, btw), knows that this client is still "on the line" and sends the updated message count of "5"? 2) Is there some other protocol that we could use to "ping" the client, using information gathered from their last GetMessageCount() request? 3) I don't even know. I guess I'm looking for some magic protocol where the client can send a GetMessageCount() request, which would include info for "oh by the way, in case the answer changes in the next hour, ping me at this address...". Also, I'm assuming that any of these "keep the line open" schemes would seriously impact the server sizing, as it would need to keep many thousands of connections open, simultaneously. That would likely impact the firewalls too, I think. Is there anything out there like that? Or am I pretty much stuck with polling? TIA, Chris

• Why does this service refuse to start on Windows server 2003?

  We have a Windows 2003 server with Cebos MQ1 (ver. 7 and ver. GRI) products installed that have been operational for years. After installing Microsoft 2010 C++ Redistributable package needed for other development, the MQ1 GRI service now fails to start. Event logs showed that two additional updates (.NET4 and the 2010 C++ Redistributable SP2) where installed by the redistributable as well. As soon as we discovered the MQ1 service was not starting properly, we removed these three installed packages. However the service still does not start; the dialog that pops up states 'The service started then stopped. '. Event logs when we attempt to start the service show nothing; IE: No errors, crashes, failures, or other information related to this service. Executing the MQ1Serv.exe directly specifies an issue of 'Missing command line operation, must specify install, uninstall and company abbreviation.' sc query MQ1Service(GRI) shows a clean exit for the Win32ExitCode of 0x0. Attempting to reinstall the client or server software gives an error of 'The procedure entry point ReInitializeCriticalSection could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll.' at the 'Registering Libraries' stage. At this point, further research has stated that the required function is in URL.dll and to verify the library is not corrupted. Running an sfc /scannow on the server has replaced a few DLLS; including the URL.DLL to versions from 2005. This actually broke other applications which required a reinstall (one of them being IE 7). After reinstall and updates, url.dll version is 7.0.5730.13 (2009) and Kernel32.dll is version 5.2.3790.4480 (2009). The MQ1 GRI service still will not start, specifying the same error as previous 'Service started then stopped'. Running a disassembler on Kernel32.dll and Url.dll show no functions named ReinitializeCriticalSection. Attempting the reinstall of the MQ1 client and server as well as starting the service again, fails once more. However, setting the compatibility mode on the MQ1 client install exe to 'Windows 95' actually gets the program to install. Setting the compatibility mode on the MQ1 server service does not enable it to start. I have been researching this problem for nearly a week and besides the advice to scan and replace url.dll, have come to no successful conclusions. This service was operational prior to the 2010 C++ install, without any additional parameters or settings. After removing the C++ install and all servicepacks/updates it installed silently, still does not correct the issue of the MQ1 GRI service not starting. Q: Has anyone else run into this or similar issue while attempting to get a service initialized? What have I overlooked or what else can I try in order to get this service started??

And later the selectedTypeChanged()-listener-method. So everytime the selected editor style type is update one selection later. I.e. after a page reload (the type is initally null) the user selects the A, now the getDynamicEditorGrid() is executed again with type null and after that the type is changed to A. Again the user selects now B (after A) and now the getDynamicEditorGrid() is executed with the type A and after that the type is changed to B. What is wrong with my code? How can I fix this really strange behavior...

  I wants to create an extension where content script will send message to background page and then on browser action means clicking on extension icon will access that background page and get some data.I am using chrome Version 23.0.1271.64 m on windows8. I am getting following error. Port error: Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist. I tried to solve the same. but people are using sendRequest which is not supported by chrome20+. i also found solution mentioned for chrome 20+. But not working. Please help. • Sound Complete Not Firing (AS3)

  I have a bit of a quandary. I need to call a function inside a MovieClip once a particular sound has finished playing. The sound is played via a sound channel in an external class which I have imported. Playback is working perfectly. • windows 7 virtual wireless adapter keeps going to sleep

  Just a quick question that I can't see mentioned anywhere online. I have a Windows 7 box configured like these guys recommend http://www.itgeekdiary.com/windows-7-as-an-wi-fi-access-point/ simply so that I can have my Windows 7 box as a wifi access point or a wifi emitter. It's also called a Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter. But it powers off and shuts down automatically and stops working. Basically everything works as intended and then - well -it will stopped working when I am not at the Windows 7 PC for a long time. The problem seems to be that every time my PC goes to "power save / sleep" and in the morning the Windows 7 machine "wakes" but blooming heck the wifi has stopped and you have to power cycle the PC (which is very uncool). When I power Cycle I have to do the following as administrator C:\Windows\System32\netsh.exe wlan start hostednetwork I then tried a gazllion things involving services and power management and eventually discovered that if I run the following commands as administrator it will be ok (for a bit) but every 3rd ot 4th time I try this "trick" it simply fails. the trick that seems to work 3 out of 4 times (i.e. "most" of the time) C:\Windows\System32\netsh.exe wlan stop hostednetwork C:\Windows\System32\netsh.exe wlan start hostednetwork But why does this only work "some" of the time? What else I did by myself: on every manage adapter properties (that relates to the wifi) I right clicked [configure] [power management] /disabled/ "allow the computer to power off to save power" <- this made no difference Also (and this is a bit annoying) there is no system tray app/GUI for the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter output signal ... none... so (lame as it sounds) the ONLY way I can check if it's on is to physically go to another device and SCAN.. lame so my question can probably be solved by any of the following: a) can I stop Windows 7 sleeping this wifi when the machine sleeps b) can I force Windows to force wake this process on wake? if so how? c) what is the service / process REALLY called and how do I restart it if it crashes d) how can I flush the wifi properly rather power cycle the host machine e) anyone have a link to an program or app that can sit in the system tray that shows windows 7 wifi hotspot emission status (on/off/etc etc) Since I am a programmer I can easily write a vbs script / windows exe to fix this (and I will share this solution) and the gui problem if I can work out the actual service that is running that netsh stops/starts

• bluetooth connection using pybluez

  I am working on bluetooth not exactly on bluetooth stack-development but to use bluetooth in one of my project. I had done all that before using some of the py-bluez commands like hciconfig, hcitool scan , then simple-agents and using serial module inside python. But that was quite random. We were able to connect only one specific device based on its bluetooth address and there was no facility of reconnection once the devices are disconnected. Now i want to try out this stuff in a sequential manner like this (i am doing that all on a RPI and for at present on ubuntu 12.04.) i) Store some names in a file along with some other information with respect to that device. ii) Run a script to find out the device in locality with those names and if any one if found, report that. For this step, i had taken a reference from BTBook , made available from MIT. • Android app crashes on emulator - logCat shows no errors

  I have just added the SherlockActionBar library to my android project. After some small changes (FragmentActivity - SherlockFragmentActivity, getActionBar() - getSupportActionBar(), imports) it all compiled nicely. • Remove Office 2010 Beta and Reinstall Office 2007

  Have you tried out the Office 2010 beta, but want to go back to Office 2007?  Here’s a step-by-step tutorial on how to remove your Office 2010 beta and reinstall your Office 2007. The Office 2010 beta will expire on October 31, 2010, at which time you may see a dialog like the one below.  At that time, you will need to either upgrade to the final release of Office 2010, or reinstall your previous version of Office. Our computer was running the Office 2010 Home and Business Click to Run beta, and after uninstalling it we reinstalled Office 2007 Home and Student.  This was a Windows Vista computer, but the process will be exactly the same on Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7.  Additionally, the process to reinstall Office 2007 will be exactly the same regardless of the edition of Office 2007 you’re using. However, please note that if you are running a different edition of Office 2010, especially the 64 bit version, the process may be slightly different.  We will cover this scenario in another article. Remove Office 2010 Click to Run Beta: To remove Office 2010 Click to Run Beta, open Control Panel and select Uninstall a Program. If your computer is running Windows 7, enter “Uninstall a program” in your Start menu search. Scroll down, select “Microsoft Office Click-to-Run 2010 (Beta)”, and click the Uninstall button on the toolbar.  Note that there will be two entries for Office, so make sure to select the “Click-to-Run” entry. This will automatically remove all of Office 2010 and its components.  Click Yes to confirm you want to remove it. Office 2010 beta uninstalled fairly quickly, and a reboot will be required.  Once your computer is rebooted, Office 2010 will be entirely removed. Reinstall Office 2007 Now, you’re to the easy part.  Simply insert your Office 2007 CD, and it should automatically startup the setup.  If not, open Computer and double-click on your CD drive.   Now, double-click on setup.exe to start the installation. Enter your product key, and click Continue…   Click Install Now, or click Customize if you want to change the default installation settings. Wait while Office 2007 installs…it takes around 15 to 20 minutes in our experience.  Once it’s finished  close the installer. Now, open one of the Office applications.  A popup will open asking you to activate Office.  Make sure you’re connected to the internet, and click next; otherwise, you can select to activate over the phone if you do not have internet access. This should only take a minute, and Office 2007 will be activated and ready to run. Everything should work just as it did before you installed Office 2010.  Enjoy! Office Updates Make sure to install the latest updates for Office 2007, as these are not included in your disk.  Check Windows Update (search for Windows Update in the Start menu search), and install all of the available updates for Office 2007, including Service Pack 2. Conclusion This is a great way to keep using Office even if you don’t decide to purchase Office 2010 after it is released.  Additionally, if you’re were using another version of Office, such as Office 2003, then reinstall it as normal after following the steps to remove Office 2010. • Enterprise Library Logging / Exception handling and Postsharp

  One of my colleagues came-up with a unique situation where it was required to create log files based on the input file which is uploaded. For example if A.xml is uploaded, the corresponding log file should be A_log.txt. I am a strong believer that Logging / EH / caching are cross-cutting architecture aspects and should be least invasive to the business-logic written in enterprise application. I have been using Enterprise Library for logging / EH (i use to work with Avanade, so i have affection towards the library!! :D ). I have been also using excellent library called PostSharp for cross cutting aspect. Here i present a solution with and without PostSharp all in a unit test. Please see full source code at end of the this blog post. But first, we need to tweak the enterprise library so that the log files are created at runtime based on input given. Of Course, if some other library has to be used instead of EL, it can easily be plugged in. Also, the coder ARE ONLY involved in writing business code in methods, which makes code cleaner.
