In other words, they all put the phrase "Connection error" in the msg id. Q1: Could I remove all these and replace them with $().ajaxError(function(myEvent, request, settings, thrownError) { $('#msg').text('Connection error').addClass('err'); }); Q2: How would you use myEvent and request to display a more informative error message?

    All, I have an application written in Zend MVC Framework. So, naturally all regular requests and ajax requests go through /public/index.php. I want my application to support maintenance mode. So, in my index.php file, I have the following code: if( Zend_Registry::get('config')->maintenance == 'true' ) { header('Location:/maintenance.php'); } The issue is, when ajax requests are called they render servermaintenance.php inside the page instead of redirecting to this page. How can I make sure it gets redirected instead of getting rendered? Thanks

  • JQuery Validation Plugin not working when used on page that includes another page via AJAX

    We have a long page that contains a bunch of different form elements. One part of the form is called remotely via AJAX and is populated in an empty div. This is the part which JQuery Validation plugin is not working correctly on. We have class="required" on the elements on this page, but they do not show up as required. I'm guessing it's because the Validation plugin is looking for class="required" on our main page, and since the content from the AJAX page is put into the empty div behind the scenes, it's not detected the required fields. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Rails: Ajax-enabled form without a model object

    I'm new to Rails and having a hard time figuring out how to create a form that submits over Ajax without having a corresponding model object. My use case is a simple form that collects an email address and sends it an email; there's nothing to be persisted, so no model. In cases where I do have a model, I've had success with form_for(@model, remote: true). I can't seem to find the right helper for the case where there is no model. I tried form_tag(named_path, remote: true) and that works, but does not use Ajax. Pointers to an example with an example with a proper controller, .html.erb and routes.rb would be really appreciated.

    I would like to use Google Image search, however I can't find the proper url anywhere. Examples always refer to the web search, not the image search. I do not want to use javascript, I need the iamge at server side. Please, do not simply post links to the API documentation, but preferably the url itself.   • jquery updating a div in ajax diesnt work properly, when using a variable

    hi, i got the following code var zieldiv = $(this).attr(\'id\'); $.ajax({ url: \'index.php?params\', type: \'POST\', data: { color:thenewcolor, zieldiv:zieldiv }, timeout: 50000, beforeSend: function() { $("#" + zieldiv).css({background: "#" + thenewcolor} ); } }); I use this for dragging a small div into a bigger div. the variable at the beginnning would give out the string "test1". So in the ajax.thing the css of a div which matches the var zieldiv should be updatet. Problem is, if i would place a string instead a var into the $(...) like $("#test1") it acts like its supposed to, the #test1 gets updated. but if i use the var $("#" + zieldiv) the parent div, which is surrounding the #test1-div gets updated. but i know for sure the var zieldiv contains the string "test1", because when passing it to php it contains "test1". so i think this is a little strange. do you have any ideas? thanx, maschek

    Hi, I am getting a some unusual problem with JQuery ajax. I am using IIS to host my web application and I have http handler for which I have enabled only POST verb on it. Using JQuery ajax, I am posting data to this http handler, this is working fine in our development and testing environment and also most of the time on production environment as well. But sometimes we are getting empty post data on to the server. When we look into the csBytes on IISLog we found that it was very less compare to other success post requests. We are using JSON.js to convert the javascript object back to raw json string and latest jquery.1-3.js for posting to server. Anbody know why this is happening?

    I am having trouble sending JavaScript objects as a http request that only accepts json content-type. i.e "application/json" or "text/json" But, I am not sure why data2 ( stringified json ) works fine But, data1 ( json object ) does throws 400 ( Bad Request ). i.e I am not sure jQuery does not serialize the json object to a valid json string for the server to process. var data1 = ({ rating : 3 }); //does not work var data2 = '{ "rating" : 3}'; //works fine $.ajax({ url : "/rate", data : data1, type : "POST", contentType: "application/json", success: function(json){ console.log("Ajax Return :"+json); } });

    I currently have a jQuery ajax request set up like this $(document).ready( function() { $.ajax({ url : "http://www.my-computer.com:51000/getJson", cache : false, dataType: "json", success : renderPage, error: handleError }) }); If I manually naviate to http://www.my-computer.com:51000/getJson, I see it returns a json string correctly, but with the above request, I always fall into "handleError" method, with textStatus "error" and not much helpful information. Can anyone help? Thanks! EDIT: sorry about the my-computer domain. this stackoverflow submission won't let me input localhost, so I put in an arbitrary domain instead. I've tried firebug, but had no luck in getting the json back.

    Hi, I can't seem to get the jQuery.ajax() function posting back any of my asp.net generated form controls. I've put a break point on the server side and there aren't any values. Is there a way around this or do I have to build up a list of what I want sent back? Another question slightly off topic, but it seems that although jQuery is a great JS library, it doesn't seem to integrate too well with .net. Has anyone given up with jQuery to perform server side interaction and just gone with ms ajax implementation?

I am creating a form where view will be loaded through AJAX request with jQuery get(), so essentially I need my Views or to be precise, my controller actions, to return plain HTML string when an AJAX request is made to the route that renders the View. I want to use the same views as for normal requests, so I cannot afford to create any new views. It is something like calling RenderPartial("MyViewUserControl") but from inside the JS code.

  • Passing parameters to telerik asp.net mvc grid

    I have a telerik asp.net mvc grid which needs to be populated based on the search criteria the user enters in separate text boxes. The grid is using ajax method to load itself initially as well as do paging. How can one pass the search parameters to the grid so that it sends those parameters "every time" it calls the ajax method in response to the user clicking on another page to go to the data on that page? I read the telerik's user guide but it does not mention this scenario. The only way I have been able to do above is by passing the parameters to the rebind() method on client side using jquery. The issue is that I am not sure if it is the "official" way of passing parameters which will always work even after updates. I found this method on this post on telerik's site: link text I have to pass in multiple parameters. The action method in the controller when called by the telerik grid runs the query again based on the search parameters.   • Cannot convert lambda expression to type 'string' because it is not a delegate type

    I have the following code written by another developer on 2 pages of my site. This used to work just fine, but now is giving the error "Cannot convert lambda expression to type 'string' because it is not a delegate type" on the Delete line with Ajax.ThemeRollerActionLink. I don't go into this section of the site often, and we recently upgraded from MVC 1.0 to 2.0. I'm guessing that's probably when it stopped working.     In ASP.net web service if the above isn't specified , what is the response format by default? Also, if my web service below: [WebMethod()] public List<Sample> GenerateSamples(string[][] data) { ResultsFactory f = new ResultsFactory(data); List<Sample> samples = f.GenerateSamples(); return samples; } returns the list of objects, If I change the response format to JSON, I have to change the return type to string, then how do I access objects in my javascript? The way things are now, I can use samples array and access each object and its properties as I normally would in any OOP code, which is very convenient, and everything works no problem, but I just wanted to make sure that I am not missing anything in my set up. I took the basics of combining Jquery's ajax with asp.net from Encosia side, and the response type wasn't mentioned there - I read it on another site and am I not sure how vital it is.

  • Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.InvalidOperationException: Two components with the same id.

    I'm working in ASP .NET dynamic data. In one of my edit controls I wanted to allow the user to add records from a related table to the current page. (Literally, if you are on the orders page, you would be allowed to add a new customer to the system on this page as well, and then associate it with that order). So, I have a DetailsView set to InsertMode, nested inside of an UpdatePanel, which is shown by a ModalPopupExtender which is invoked when 'add new' is clicked. This doohickey works the first time i execute this process, that is, a customer is added (and i update the dropdown list as well). However, I realized it didn't work (properly) again until I refreshed the entire page. When I attached my debugger, my worst fears were realized (ok, not really). But an exception was being thrown: "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.InvalidOperationException: Two components with the same id." Which seemed to be complaining about a Calendar Extender Control that is part of the details view. Any guidance on what's going on here would be great. Thanks.
