  How can I have multiple independent instances of Mozilla Firefox 3.5 on the same X server, but started from different user accounts (consequently, different profiles)? Limited success was only with Xephyr :1, DISPLAY=:1 /usr/local/bin/firefox, but Xephyr has no Cygwin/X's "rootless" mode so it's not comfortable (see other question). The idea is to have one Firefox instance for various "Serious Business" things and the other for regular browsing with dozens of add-ons securely isolated.

I have the impression that deployment is easier on machines where users have few permissions, but not sure about the details. • How can I copy a Virtual Machine on VMWare ESXi 4 while maintaining Thin Provisioning?

  We have an ESXi host we use for testing, which results in a ton of VMs being created and copied on a regular basis. We don't have the storage capacity to use thick provisioned VMs on this server, and have been maintaining the copies using VMWare Converter. But using the converter is an incredibly slow operation which copies the entire contents of the VM over the network several times before actually finishing the copy. Is there a way to simply clone the VM but maintain the thin-provisioning?

• Which ports to open on host firewall so that network printing and scanning works?

  I have a multi-functional machine which is both a laser printer and a scanner (Samsung SC-4705ND) I am not able to make the scanner work with the (software) firewall installed in my computer turned on. Operating system is ubuntu 12.04 with regular firewall. if firewall is turned off then everything works as expected I run nmap to discover open services on the samsung machine and I opened all these ports: 80, 427, 515, 631, 5200, 9100, 10001 but with not luck.. How should I configure firewall?

  I want to be able to find and replace eat with Eat in Microsoft Word 2007. However, I don’t want to replace every occurrence of eat such as those that can be found inside other words such as great and meat. I have tried doing this using the regular Find and Replace tool, but I get words with capital letters in the middle. Is there a way I can just replace eat with Eat if it only exists on its own?

• Monitor network traffic on a per-app basis in OS X?

  Title says it all. I'm looking for an app for OS X that will tell me what applications are using the network and what their in/out is. I can get most of the way there with LittleSnitch but it's the bandwidth part that it fails at. The only app I've come across that comes close is "Rubbernet" and while it does look like it would probably do what I want, it's very expensive (more than LittleSnitch) and doesn't look like it gets regular feature updates. Any recommendations?

In contrast to regular installation, we 1st download the .exe or .deb and install it. So, how is it possible via web?   I'm experimenting with creating a software RAID 0 device from 4 EBS volumes on Ubuntu 9.10 running at Amazon AWS following this guide: http://alestic.com/2009/06/ec2-ebs-raid The device appears (and according to SysBench is 3.5x faster than a regular attached EBS volume). Problem is, when I reboot the instance, all files on the RAID device are gone. The device is available and mounted where expected, but contains no files. I am able to write new files to it, which survive until the next reboot.

• How Windows Server routes PTP v2 unicast messages?

  If my server is placed in PTP v2 enabled network which has grand master clock. And the switch is PTP aware. The server is W2008R2 (soon to be W2012). I also have PTP v2 software client. How does the master clock messages are getting on with Windows Server? Does it need special PTP-aware NIC or it will be treated as normal networking traffic and the software receives it through regular NIC no problem?
