  Is there any automatic Windows software application to check status of website and alert me through mail or message or trigger am alarm.. Example: Consider I am waiting to buy a new latest movie ticket online (through) and the ticket booking has not been informed properly (online booking is opening at a random time). In this situation I will be forced to slave for my PC to get the tickets. To avoid such situation, can you suggest me a software? So I need a software which will alert me when the online booking is open.. Can anyone please help me?

• Network location is not on the Domain

  I have a computer joined to the domain, but it doesn't view the network "location" as being part of the domain. I have tried removing and rejoining the domain and this doesn't help: Other computers in the same network don't have this problem. I have also tried several different icons, including both the train and the airplane which doesn't seem to make a difference. At least using nslookup, the server seems to have connectivity with the DCs in the same site. There also seem to be some errors that suggest a NULL domain: Computer: OR-WEB05.ds.stackexchange.com Description: NtpClient was unable to set a domain peer to use as a time source because of failure in establishing a trust relationship between this computer and the '' domain in order to securely synchronize time. NtpClient will try again in 3473457 minutes and double the reattempt interval thereafter. The error was: The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed. (0x800706FD)

• Recommended laptops for system admins?

  Hey all - I'm in the market for a new laptop and wanted to get some recommendations. I'm a Linux sysadmin and this laptop is primarily for work related use, working from home, after hours, occasional trips to the data center, etc. We all know the drill. My typical setup includes various utilities and tools plus multiple partitions for booting different OS's including VMware. Need serial port of course, DVD-RW, and all the usual stuff we use in our daily routine. I'm kinda thinking a Thinkpad T510 but open to other suggestions! Brief explanation of why you suggest some particular brand and configuration is appreciated.

• I suspect that my HDD is causing hardlocks, as all other components have been replaced. How can I check this theory and solve the potential cause?

  I have had this problem over quite a while now, thorough multiple Linux kernel versions and distributions, as well as replacement of all components, aside from my main HDD - RAM, GPU(twice), mother board, CPU, power supply. What happens is, at one point during the operation of the PC, it will hardlock - everything stops working, external HDD is not shut down correctly and continues to spin until I plug it out and in, there are no system/kernel logs of any kind, and no otherwise nothing that would suggest a cause. Another reason for my suspicion is that the failures happen almost exclusively during HDD read/write activity - shutdown(happens nearly 1/3 of the time so far, it's only been few days though), launching programs, and once during operation of apt. I hope the post is descriptive enough, if you need any additional info, ask(and tell me how to prepare/obtain it), and I will provide. If I'm wrong, point me in the right direction. Still not clear why vbscript can't interpret this assignment, but found a fix: %~1 - Expands %1 and removes any surrounding quotation marks ("").

  On my laptop I have a built in wireless card and I got one external connected via usb. By ifconfig command I saw both the cards connects to internet and gets IP. eth1 - the interface my laptop has in-built wlan1 - I have connected externally via usb. Now I applied "sudo ifconfig eth1 down" so that i can use only wlan1. But this eth1 goes down for sometime and then come up again automatically. So I am not able to test my externally usb connected wifi adapter. Can anyone suggest me way to disable eth1 interface?

  It's clear to me how deleting open files works on filesystems that use inodes - unlink() just decreases the link count to zero, and when the last file handle to the file is closed, the inode will be removed. But how does it work when using a file system that doesn't use inodes, like FAT32, with Linux? Some experiments suggest that deleting open files is still possible (unlike on Windows, where the unlink call wouldn't succeed), but what happens when the file system is uncleanly unmounted? How does Linux mark the files as unlinked, when the file system itself doesn't support such an operation? Is the directory entry just deleted, but retained in memory (that would guarantee deletion after unmounting in any case, but would leave the file system in an inconsistent state), or will the deletion only be marked in memory, and written at the time the last file handle is closed, avoiding possible corruption, but restoring the deleted files after an unclean unmount?

  Please suggest some good software that lets you mix music seamlessly. I have tested some software and most of them are hard to use. I have tried fruity loops, FruityLoops I think is great for people who have some experience with mixing music. What I'm looking for is software for people who don't have experience with mixing. The pieces of music I am planning to join are different from each other, they have different Tempo and Beat. How to mount a dir in one partition (sda2, mounted in ubuntu as the home folder) into a directory on another mounted partition (sda3)? I did chroot /mnt/sda2 but I don't know how to mount sda3 to /home, and my various attempts didn't work. As I am unfamiliar with chroot, my approach could be wrong, so it would be great if you could suggest what I should do, given my circumstances.

  In my project I have one DB used for everything. I want it to break into two databases. Static tables having look up values are to be stored in one DB and another DB would be having tables with dynamic data. My problem is that how would I use foreign key constraint in between those two DBs. Can someone help me out and suggest a way to proceed, better if I'm provided an example for the same. I thought of using synonyms for tables and then constraints on synonyms. but later I came to know that synonyms couldn't be used for constraints. I need to maintain relationships among the tables from both DB as the issue is with update, with a new release I just want to update look up tables and for the same I want to split my DB. I want to know how FileGroups could be used for this.

• Wifi Signal Strengths

  I hope that I have asked this question in the right topic. Basically I use BT (In the U.K.) and I have problems with my router receiving a strong signal in certain rooms of the house, which, therefore makes the internet really slow in some cases it won't work at all. I have had experience working with Virgin Media (UK) before and just changed the channel number and this worked fine, but, do not know if I would receive the same outcome on BT. Could anyone suggest any other things that I could try alongside of the channel change in order to /hopefully/ get a stronger signal, without having to install Ethernet cable?

• DNSCache excesive memory usage Windows Server 2008 R2

  We are having an issue with the dnscache service where its memory usage is becoming excessive (~6GB) after a week or two. Restarting the service frees this memory but performing ipconfig /flushdns does not, an ipconfig /displaydns shows aprox 15-20 entries in the cache. We have checked and there appears to be aprox 150 DNS queries per second taking place but I would not expect this to have the effect of causing this memory issue. I have tried to search MSDN for hotfixes or bug reports but I could only find a reference to a memory leak in windows 2003. can anyone suggest how to proceed.

It would be Lubuntu with 1G or 512M memory and I want to have way to setup my image. • Name-based virtual hosting in Apache

  I'd like to set up name-based virtual hosting in Apache, but I don't have DNS name (local private network). Thus I want to get something like that: http://192.168.0.1/wiki - First virtual host - wiki. http://192.168.0.1/redmine - Second virtual host - redmine. As I suggest I can be achievable by using ServerName option in section of both vhosts. But in Apache documentation has no mention that I can use for FQDN IP-addr. Is it possible? How can I reach my wishes? P.S.: I want to share my sites on the same subnet only. Thus any who can ping me can enter http://my_ip/wiki and get wiki, http://my_ip/redmine and get redmine.

However, when ever I move a window, the redraw of that window takes 3-8 seconds. Even moving the window takes the same amount of time Is this being done in software rather than the nVidea hardware? The windows themselves do not respond. I have seen a few old threads but no relevant fixes - If anyone could suggest a fix I would very much appreciate it. • Windows 8 Update on Bootcamp

  I currently have Windows 8 Consumer Preview installed on a Mac Bootcamp Partition. Microsoft recently released the Windows 8 Release Preview, and I'd like to upgrade, but I'm worried that upgrading to the Release Preview (while in the Windows 8 partition) will erase my other partitions (ex. the Mac OS X partition). By upgrading from Consumer to Release (using the installer on Microsoft's website) while IN the Windows 8 partition, will it end up re-formating the whole hard drive / erasing partitions / removing Mac OS X? Are there any 100% positive answers out there? Will this work, and if not then how would you suggest updating? Note: I have a Time Machine backup of my Mac, but it isn't the WHOLE Mac.

  I apologize in advance if this is a basic question, but I am quite confused after reading the Apache documentation and other tutorials. Does a single Apache prefork process serve all HTTP requests for a given client? That's what I thought, but when I reduce maxclients down to a low number, my page load times go to a crawl. This despite the fact I'm the only client on the server in question. This would suggest each process serves a single HTTP request at a time, rather than serving all requests within the TimeOut window. So if a single webpage requires 15 HTTP requests to load fully, do I require 15 prefork Apache processes to optimally serve it?

  I need to organize a virtual network for practice with Windows Server 2008 and several workstations with Windows OS. To make it all I only have a laptop with Dual-Core 2.10Ghz, 3 GB RAM, 50 GB free space and Windows 7 on it. Also I have external USB 3.0 hard-drive with 250GB free space and flash disk with 8GB space. What can you suggest? Because I have limited resources, I think to install ESXi 5.1 on the main disk of my laptop as second OS, with installed Windows 7. I then have another network on the 10.NET that needs to have access to the domain on the 192.NET. I am using cisco/linksys routers. • Laptop HDD not mounting.

  I have a laptop with broken (shorted out) motherboard and a 640 GB HDD. I want to recover my data from the hard disk. Every time I connect the hard disk using an external casing, it is being detected in the disk management service but not visible in my computer, nor accessible through command prompt. The Hard Disk is functioning as I can feel the hard disk rotor working properly when connected using the casing. Also the LED on the hard disk is blinking, the data is there but i am unable to access the data. Someone please suggest me ways of using the hard-disk as a slave disk using casing.
