    I'm working on a web application using VB.NET. In page load event am calling a remote web service which take time to bring the data. During this process none of the other contents on page are shown(render). I want to call this remote web service asynchronously so that other data of page is displayed and web service data will be displayed when its available.

  • Sanity Check: change event not firing first time using keyboard

    I've done a good amount of research on this and found a bunch of reported problems and solutions but the general consensus seems that all change problems in IE6 were fixed in jQuery 1.4.2. I'm having an issue where a change event is not firing in jQuery 1.4.2, but it did fire successfully in jQuery 1.3.2. This is in IE6. I'm about to submit a bug for this, but for my sanity I wanted to post it here first to see if there's something dumb I'm missing. Onload of the page, give the first element focus. Onchange of the first element, alert. If you use the mouse, it works as expected. The page loads, the focus is in the drop down, you change the option, you get the alert. The problem is if you use the keyboard. The page loads, the focus is in the drop down, you press the down arrow. The option changes. Tab off the field, no alert. Weird. To make it even weirder, if you tab back into the field and change it again (all using the keyboard), the change event DOES fire after tab out this time. Any ideas?

Today I opened up the Access database to finish my data migration and am now receiving the following message when I try to run some update queries: The action or event has been blocked by Disabled Mode. Any ideas what this is talking about?

I have registered keyup event but I have to release the arrow up key in order to change the value, What I want is if User pressed up arrow key then it will increment the value until user release up arrow key and same for the down arrow key.   • How does the event dispatch thread work?

    With the help of people on stackoverflow I was able to get the following working code of the simples GUI countdown (it just displays a window counting down seconds). My main problem with this code is the invokeLater stuff. As far as I understand the invokeLater send a task to the event dispatching thread (EDT) and then the EDT execute this task whenever it "can" (whatever it means). Is it right? To my understanding the code works like that: In the main method we use invokeLater to show the window (showGUI method). In other words, the code displaying the window will be executed in the EDT. In the main method we also start the counter and the counter (by construction) is executed in another thread (so it is not in the event dispatching thread). Right? The counter is executed in a separate thread and periodically it calls updateGUI. The updateGUI is supposed to update GUI. And GUI is working in the EDT. So, updateGUI should also be executed in the EDT. It is why the code for the updateGUI is inclosed in the invokeLater. Is it right? What is not clear to me is why we call the counter from the EDT. Anyway it is not executed in the EDT. It starts immediately a new thread and the counter is executed there.     hi, I'm using PopupManager to create popups.. I noticed that sometimes the popups are not removed when on mouseOut event, for some reasons. I tried to roll over/out fast but the popups perfectly work. So I'm not able to say why sometimes they remain visible instead of disappear. Thanks

    I have few images in a grid, then when i click a button, a "open file dialog" comes up.(of course, over the images) Microsoft.Win32.OpenFileDialog dlgOpenFiles = new Microsoft.Win32.OpenFileDialog(); dlgOpenFile.DoModal(); The images have a LeftButtonUp event attached. The problem is that if i select a file by double clicking it, the open file dialog closes(which is good), but besides that, the image behind the clicked file is receiving a LeftButtonUp message which is not good at all.
