• dojo.xhrPost and Zend Framwork action, no POST data, not using a form

  Hi all, I'm trying to send some data via dojo.xhrPost to an Zend Controller Action. I can see the data being sent in Firebug console. However, when inspecting the post data, the array is empty. I'm not sure if it is possible to send an arbitrary string of data via dojo.xhrPost without using a form. This is probably a very n00b mistake. In any case, I'll post my code here and see what you all think. In my layout script I have: <?php $sizeurl = $this->baseUrl() . When looking at the dojo.xhrPost examples on the dojo campus web site (http://docs.dojocampus.org/dojo/xhrPost second one to be precise), it looks as if I can just send a string of data. How do I access this data from a Zend Controller Action? I'm using ZF 1.10 and Dojo 1.4.2 Thanks for your help! PS I'd try to ask on one of the related questions, but I cannot seem to comment.

• Bindable richTextBox still hanging in memory {WPF, Caliburn.Micro}

  Hi, I use in WFP Caliburn.Micro Framework. I need bindable richTextbox for Document property. I found many ways how do it bindable richTextBox. But I have one problem. From parent window I open child window. Child window consist bindable richTextBox user control. After I close child window and use memory profiler view class with bindabelrichTextBox control and view model class is still hanging in memory. - this cause memory leaks. If I use richTextBox from .NET Framework or richTextBox from Extended WPF Toolkit it doesn’t cause this memory leak problem. I can’t identified problem in bindable richTextBox class. • Missing ODBCConfig for SQLite and LibreOffice Base

  I have used OpenOffice Base as a front end for SQlite databases, in 10.04 linked via ODBC. I am updating to 12.04, so I loaded LibreOffice Base, looks just like OObase. I have 12.04 on one drive and 10.04 on another. I loaded Sqliteman, sqlite3, unixodbc-bin, unixodbc, libsqliteodbc, sqlitebrowser. I copied my databases directory over. But in terminal ODBCConfig is not on the 12.04 system. So I copied odbc.ini from the home directory on 10.04 to 12.04 home directory, and now LibreOffice Base can access my database, and all is fine. Anyone know what is the problem with ODBCConfig, is it another victim of the change in QT? Of course I could edit odbc.ini with jedit, now I can see the format. In terminal I tried sudo find / -name ODBCConfig, but its not there.

This time when I click Advance settings, the URL of the existing document template is still MeetingMinutes.docx, but there is no (Edit Template) link. Troubling. Pressing on, I go back to AllItems.aspx and click New Meeting Minutes. As Word is loading, I see a little Opening dialog which says, Opening: http://myserver/sites/testsite/Shared%20Documents/Forms/Document/MeetingMinutes.docx, to which Word responds: "Word was unable to read this document. It may be corrupt." So the Document Template works correctly in the Site Content Type (where it does me no good), but is not working in the List Content Type (where I really need it). Now, I know I could put this in _layouts, but from what I've read, _cts is the way to do it. What am I doing wrong?

• Using constructor to load data in subsonic3?

  I'm getting an error while trying to load an record through the constructor. The constructor is: public Document(Expression<Func<Document,bool>> expression); and i try to load a single item in like this var x = new Document(f=>f.publicationnumber=="xxx"); publicationnumber isn't a key but tried making an it an unique key and still no go.. Am i totally wrong regarding the use of the constructor? and can someone please tell me how to use that constructor? • Convert ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8

  I have several documents I need to convert from ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8 (without the BOM of course). This is the issue though. I have so many of these documents (it is actually a mix of documents, some UTF-8 and some ISO-8859-1) that I need an automated way of converting them. Unfortunately I only have ActivePerl installed and don't know much about encoding in that language. I may be able to install PHP, but I am not sure as this is not my personal computer. Just so you know, I use Scite or Notepad++, but both do not convert correctly. For example, if I open a document in Czech that contains the character "ž" and go to the "Convert to UTF-8" option in Notepad++, it incorrectly converts it to an unreadable character. There is a way I CAN convert them, but it is tedious. If I open the document with the special characters and copy the document to Windows clipboard, then paste it into a UTF-8 document and save it, it is okay. This is too tedious (opening every file and copying/pasting into a new document) for the amount of documents I have. Any ideas? Thanks!!!

    I really like database monitoring. My email inbox have a constant flow of different types of alerts coming from our production servers with all kinds of information, sometimes more useful and sometimes less useful. Usually database alerts look really simple, it’s usually a plain text email saying “Prod1 Database data file on Server X is 80% used. You’d better grow it manually before some query triggers the AutoGrowth process”. Imagine you could have received email like the one below.  In addition to the alert description it could have also included the the database file growth chart over the past 6 months. Wouldn’t it give you much more information whether the data growth is natural or extreme? That’s truly what data visualization is for. Believe it or not, I have sent the graph below from SQL Server stored procedure without buying any additional data monitoring/visualization tool.   Would you like to visualize your database alerts like I do? Then like myself, you’d love the Google Charts. All you need to know is a little HTML and have a mail profile configured on your SQL Server instance regardless of the SQL Server version. First of all, I hope you know that the sp_send_dbmail procedure has a great parameter @body_format = ‘HTML’, which allows us to send rich and colorful messages instead of boring black and white ones. All that we need is to dynamically create HTML code.   I have received numerous calls from users lately, stating that they are not able to access the conference sites with IE7. These sites are created from a template, and they are managed on Joomla. Previously on other sites, there have no problems or complaints. However, with the recent complaints , I suspect that the culprit is my simple jQuery codes since the sites that have been reported have been created recently and incorporated with jQuery features. • How to Automate your Database Documentation

  In my previous post, “Automating Deployments with SQL Compare command line” I looked at how teams can automate the deployment and post deployment validation of SQL Server databases using the command line versions of Red Gate tools. In this post I’m looking at another use for the command line tools, namely using them to generate up-to-date documentation with every database change. There are many reasons why up-to-date documentation is valuable. For example when somebody new has to work on or administer a database for the first time, or when a new database comes into service. Having database documentation reduces the risks of making incorrect decisions when making changes. Documentation is very useful to business intelligence analysts when writing reports, for example in SSRS. There are a couple of great examples talking about why up to date documentation is valuable on this site:  Database Documentation – Lands of Trolls: Why and How? and Database Documentation Using SQL Doc. The short answer is that it can save you time and reduce risk when you need that most! SQL Doc is a fast simple tool that automatically generates database documentation. It can create documents in HTML, Word or pdf files. The documentation contains information about object definitions and dependencies, along with any other information you want to associate with each object. The SQL Doc GUI, which is included in Red Gate’s SQL Developer Bundle and SQL Toolbelt, allows you to add additional notes to objects, and customise which objects are shown in the docs.  These settings can be saved as a .sqldoc project file. The SQL Doc command line can use this project file to automatically update the documentation every time the database is changed, ensuring that documentation that is always up to date. The simplest way to keep documentation up to date is probably to use a scheduled task to run a script every day. However if you have a source controlled database, or are using a Continuous Integration (CI) server or a build server, it may make more sense to use that instead. If  you’re using SQL Source Control or SSDT Database Projects to help version control your database, you can automatically update the documentation after each change is made to the source control repository that contains your database. To get this automation in place,  you can use the functionality of a Continuous Integration (CI) server, which can trigger commands to run when a source control repository has changed. A CI server will also capture and save the documentation that is created as an artifact, so you can always find the exact documentation for a specific version of the database. This forms an always up to date data dictionary. If you don’t already have a CI server in place there are several you can use, such as the free open source Jenkins or the free starter editions of TeamCity. I won’t cover setting these up in this article, but there is information about using CI servers for automating database tasks on the Red Gate Database Delivery webpage. You may be interested in Red Gate’s SQL CI utility (part of the SQL Automation Pack) which is an easy way to update a database with the latest changes from source control. The PowerShell example below shows how to create the documentation from a database. In the example above, we set the name of the report to match the database name, and use the current Windows user as the documentation author. For more examples of how you can customise the report from the command line please see the SQL Doc command line documentation If you already have a .sqldoc project file, or wish to further customise the report by including or excluding specific objects, you can use this project on the command line. Any settings you specify on the command line will override the defaults in the project. For details of what you can customise in the project please see the SQL Doc project documentation. In the example above, the line to use a project is commented out, but you can uncomment this line and then pass a path to a .sqldoc project file as an argument to this script.  Conclusion Keeping documentation about your databases up to date is very easy to set up using SQL Doc and PowerShell. By using a CI server to run this process you can trigger the documentation to be run on every change to a source controlled database, and keep historic documentation available. • Strange WCF Error - IIS hosted - context being aborted

  I have a WCF service that does some document conversions and returns the document to the caller. When developing locally on my local dev server, the service is hosted on ASP.NET Development server, a console application invokes the operation and executes within seconds. When I host the service in IIS via a .svc file, two of the documents work correctly, the third one bombs out, it begins to construct the word document using the OpenXml Sdk, but then just dies. I think this has something to do with IIS, but I cannot put my finger on it. There are a total of three types of documents I generate. In a nutshell this is how it works SQL 2005 DB/IBM DB2 - WCF Service written by other developer to expose data. This service only has one endpoint using basicHttpBinding My Service invokes his service, gets the relevant data, uses the Open Xml Sdk to generate a Microsoft Word Document, saves it on a server and returns the path to the user. The word documents are no bigger than 100KB. I am also using basicHttpBinding although I have tried wsHttpBinding with the same results. What is amazing is how fast it is locally, and even more that two of the documents generate just fine, its the third document type that refuses to work. To the error message: An error occured while receiving the HTTP Response to http://myservername.mydomain.inc/MyService/Service.Svc. This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP Protocol. This could also be due to an HTTP request context being aborted by the server (possibly due to the server shutting down). See server logs for more details. I have spent the last 2 days trying to figure out what is going on, I have tried everything, including changing the maxReceivedMessageSize, maxBufferSize, maxBufferPoolSize, etc etc to large values, I even included: <httpRuntime maxRequestLength="2097151" executionTimeout="120"/> To see maybe if IIS was choking because of that. Programatically the service does nothing special, it just constructs the word documents from the data using the Open Xml Sdk and like I said, locally all 3 documents work when invoked via a console app running locally on the asp.net dev server, i.e. http://localhost:3332/myService.svc When I host it on IIS and I try to get a Windows Forms application to invoke it, I get the error. I know you will ask for logs, so yes I have logging enabled on my Host. And there is no error in the logs, I am logging everything. Basically I invoke two service operations written by another developer. MyOperation calls - HisOperation1 and then HisOperation2, both of those calls give me complex types. I am going to look at his code tomorrow, because he is using LINQ2SQL and there may be some funny business going on there. He is using a variety of collections etc, but the fact that I can run the exact same document, lets call it "Document 3" within seconds when the service is being hosted locally on ASP WebDev Server is what is most odd, why would it run on scaled down Cassini and blow up on IIS? From the log it seems, after calling HisOperation1 and HisOperation2 the service just goes into la-la land dies, there is a application pool (w3wp.exe) error in the Windows Event Log. Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.1830, stamp 42435be1, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.2.3790.3311, stamp 49c5225e, debug? 0, fault address 0x00015dfa. It's classified as .NET 2.0 Runtime error. Any help is appreciated, the lack of sleep is getting to me. Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.

  Hello, I just installed MOSS 2007 and configure it on a machine. The machine is not in a domain. When I try to create a new document in my document library (Server is on a remote location and my laptop is not a part of the domain), MS Word 2007 opens, asks me for login credentials 3 times and then disappears leaving me with a new blank word document. Is there any way to enable remote access of MOSS 2007 documents? Thanks :)

• Large scale storage for incrementally-appended documents?

  I need to store hundreds of thousands (right now, potentially many millions) of documents that start out empty and are appended to frequently, but never updated otherwise or deleted. These documents are not interrelated in any way, and just need to be accessed by some unique ID. Read accesses are some subset of the document, which almost always starts midway through at some indexed location (e.g. "document #4324319, save #53 to the end"). These documents start very small, at several KB. They typically reach a final size around 500KB, but many reach 10MB or more. I'm currently using MySQL (InnoDB) to store these documents. Each of the incremental saves is just dumped into one big table with the document ID it belongs to, so reading part of a document looks like "select * from saves where document_id=14 and save_id 53 order by save_id", then manually concatenating it all together in code. Ideally, I'd like the storage solution to be easily horizontally scalable, with redundancy across servers (e.g. each document stored on at least 3 nodes) with easy recovery of crashed servers. I've looked at CouchDB and MongoDB as possible replacements for MySQL, but I'm not sure that either of them make a whole lot of sense for this particular application, though I'm open to being convinced. Any input on a good storage solution?
