  • What's a good Minimal Server-Side Javascript Framework?

    So I was writing a web app with web.py that uses plenty of client-side javascript, and my database is on couchdb so the queries are in javascript too, and eventually I just got to thinking, why not skip the python and go all javascript? Besides, some functions need to run once on the client and again on the server to make sure you're not spoofing, so why translate between javascript and python? So I'm looking for a simple lightweight javascript web framework. All I really need is the url routing, request and response stuff (standard wsgi?), and a way to hook into a big http server like nginx. What do you guys recommend?

  • Displaying Django Messages Framework Messages

    I have been using the Django Messaging Framework to display messages to a user in the template. I am outputting them to the template like this: <ul> {% for message in messages %} <li{% if message.tags %} class="{{ message.tags }}"{% endif %}>{{ message }}</li> {% endfor %} </ul> This outputs all the messages, errors, warning, success etc. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas how to display only the error messages something like: <ul> {% for message in messages.errors %} <li>{{ message }}</li> {% endfor %} </ul> Any ideas?   • Web framework for an application utilizing existing database?

    A legacy web application written using PHP and utilizing MySql database needs to be rewritten completely. However, the existing database structure must not be changed at all. I'm looking for suggestions on which framework would be most suitable for this task? Language candidates are Python, PHP, Ruby and Java. According to many sources it might be challenging to utilize rails effectively with existing database. Also I have not found a way to automatically generate models out of the database. With Django it's very easy to generate models automatically. However I'd appreciate first hand experience on its suitability to work with legacy DBs. Also I appreciate suggestions of other frameworks worth considering.

    I'm trying to build a SQLCe table structure dynamically using a dataset as the temporary table structure... Is there a SqlConnection string that will work with SqlCe? There used to be a SqlCeConnection...but I don't find that in the 4.0 framework? Has something replaced this? If the answer is L2S or Entity Framework...can I add columns to SqlCe tables at runtime? If so...how?

  • WCF webservice stop working after upgrade to framework 3.5 sp1

    I have a wcf webservice on one of my testing servers. Everything worked fine until I upgraded frome framework 3.5 to 3.5 sp1. the wcf web service stoped working and returns the error: "Failed to invoke the service. The service may be offline or inaccessible. Refer to the stack trace for details." When I try to drag the circle, the app just creates another circle over the original one, regardless of where I release the drag. qDebug() in DragScene's dropEvent() shows QPointF(0,0) everytime the drag ends. I'm having a hard time trying to understand exactly what I have to do, which classes I should subclass, which methods needs to be overriden, to make this work. The documentation on this isn't very detailed. I'd like to know how to make this work, and if there's some other, more comprehensive resource to learn about the graphics view framework, besides the official documentation (which is excellent btw, but it would be great if there was a more detailed treatise on the subject). EDIT: Following badgerr's advice, I replaced item-pos() in DragScene::dropEvent() with item-scenePos(), now the drop event creates a new circle in the drop site, which is more or less what I wanted. But the original circle is still in place, and while the drag is in progress, the item doesn't follow the mouse cursor. The QGraphicsSceneDragDropEvent documentation says that pos() should return the cursor position in relation to the view that sent the event, which, unless I got it wrong, shouldn't be (0,0) all the time. Weird. I've read in a forum post that you can use QDrag::setPixMap() to show something during the drag, and in examples I've seen pictures being set as pixmaps, but how do I make the pixmap just like the graphics item I'm supposed to be dragging?

    Hi, I am currently using the Yii framework, and I would like to know if anyone has any clue on how to setup a SEO friendly url like www.twitter.com/ automatically in Yii? I know how to do so this manually in the config/main.php but I would like to be able to dynamically generate it. I have been able to do it in Grails as well. In Yii, what I know of is that you need to have another parameter like www.twitter.com/l/, but I do not want that parameter, anyone can share? Thanks.

  • Embedding QT application in Eclipse/RCP framework

    Hi, I'm trying to embed my working QT application in Eclipse RCP framework(might not sound wise but i need to do this). I'm using QT 4.5 (not yet explored what QTJambi is all about and has to offer) I convert my existing application as a dll and load it through eclipse application. Things dont work as they should as the QTApplication loop sits listening for events, and there is a good mismatch of events. Certain UI objects dont get the events. If I comment my Qppliaction::exec(), then the behaviour in QT app changes. Is there a way to achieve what I'm trying to achieve?? Thanks

The question is which Django toolsets / frameworks make the most sense for this task. I see Django-rest and Django-piston. There's also the option of rolling my own. The question was asked here, but a good two years back. I'd like to know what the current state of play is. In this question, circa 2008, the strong majority vote was to not use any framework at all - just create Django views that reply with e.g. JSON. (The question was also addressed, crica 2008, here.) In the current landscape, what makes the most sense?

  • Small web-framework like Sinatra, Ramaze etc in .NET

    Are there any similar frameworks like Sinatra, Ramaze etc in .NET? I'm in theory after a framework that let's me create an entire webapp with just one classfile (conceptually) like Sinatra. I'm going to use it for something work-internal, where ASP.NET MVC is too "big" (and I get confused by it's usage) and I have WebForms up to my ears right now (doing a big webforms based project, currently hating it ;) ) Any suggestions? Oh, and I need to be able to host it in IIS. I would go for IronRuby with Sinatra, but I can't find a step-by-step tut for setting it up in IIS ;)

  • How does one calculate CPU utilization programmatically ?

    Hi, I have a benchmarking program that calculates the time (in milliseconds and ticks), for a persistance to Entity Framework 4.0. Is there a way to calculate CPU load ? I am guessing that I would need to query Windows to find out my CPU frequency, how many cores, etc. Does this sound right ? If so, what part of the .NET framework relates to querying the system ?   • Play framework 1.x on Tomcat - httpOnly cookies

    I'm setting application.session.httpOnly=true in the application.conf and generating a war file and deploying on tomcat. I still see the cookie generated as HttpOnly=No and it is editable. This is an issue with play 1.x running on tomcat 6 (i.e. servlet api 2.x). Apparently, http only flag for cookies was only introduced in servlet 3.0 and so is only available in tomcat 7+ has anybody identified a workaround for this so far (so I could have http only cookies for play 1.x on tomcat 6.x ) ? the httpOnly flag on context in tomcat only works for tomcat's jsessionid cookie... also, can I run a play 1.x app on servlet 3.0 ? PS: This was also posted on the play framework's google groups but we did not receive a response and so posting on SO.

Have ACL that can control all the permission level issue. Load class when needed, unload when not needed. Load class once and use globally.   • Best Java 'framework' for LOW-END 3D Graphics?

    I've made my share of 2D games on various platforms but I have never developed a 3D game. I want to make a small "mmorpg". I already made my server in python and it works just fine with my flash 2D game but I decided I want to step it up and try out 3D. I want to make a 3D game for the web browser and I think Java might be a good choice for this. So basically I'm just looking for a straight forward and well documents 'framework' to make LOW-END 3D games. Keep in mind that I will be targeting peoples with very low-end PC's (plus my 3d modeling skills aren't great so I wouldn't mind hiding it somewhat, haha)

    Hi All I have been using spring for a while as my IOC. It has also a very nice way of injecting properties in your beans. Now I am participating in a new project where the IOC is Guice. I dont understand fully the concept how should I inject properties in to my beans using Guice. The question : Is it actually possible to inject raw properties ( strings , ints ) into my guice beans. If the answer is no , than maybe you know some nice Properties Framework for java. Because right now I wanted to use the ResourceBundle class for simple properties management in my app. But after using spring for a while this just dont seem seriously enought for me.

  • Debug .Net Framework's source code only shows disassembly in Visual Studio 2010

    Hi! I'm trying to debug .Net Framework's source code using Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I followed the steps described in Raj Kaimal's post but I must be doing something wrong since the only code I'm getting to see is the disassembly code: As you can see in the image, the Go to Source Code and the Load Symbols options are disabled. Nevertheless, symbols are downloaded from Microsoft's server since I can see them inside the local cache directory. The code I'm debugging goes as follow: var wr = WebRequest.Create("http://www.google.com"); Console.WriteLine("Web request created"); var req = wr.GetRequestStream(); Console.Read(); When I hit F11 to step into the first line of code, a window pops us looking for the "WebRequst.cs" file inside "f:\dd\ndp\fx\src\Net\System\Net\WebRequest.cs" which does not exists on my machine. What am I missing? Thanks a lot for your help.

Recently my resharper told me that my variable "MetaDescription" hides property 'string System.Web.UI.Page.MetaDescription' After small investigation the peace of code that worked earlier: HtmlMeta MetaDescription = new HtmlMeta(); MetaDescription.Attributes.Add("name", "description"); MetaDescription.Attributes.Add("content", ((IFriendlySEO)Page).DescriptionString); Header.Controls.Add(MetaDescription); was replaced with much more readable: MetaDescription = ((IFriendlySEO)Page).DescriptionString; (same for MetaKeywords). Question: is there any useful source that can give a list of such new features? Thanks.

    I need to have an autocomplete functionality using jquery, and I've encountered ZendX_JQuery which has such functionality available. However, I've noticed that the entire ZendX_JQuery classes, are a bit old (the default jquery version is 1.3.2, and jquery ui 1.7.1). (see http://framework.zend.com/svn/framework/extras/branches/release-1.10/library/ZendX/JQuery.php) Should I use that instead of my own written code to include the jquery library and etc., and should I use the ZendX_JQuery_View_Helper_AutoComplete class for such functionality ?

  • AVAudioPlayer Memory Leak - Media Player Framework

    Hi Friends, I am using AVAudioPlayer object to play an audio. I create an audioPlayer object initially. I play an animation and when ever animation starts I play the audio and pause the audio when the animation is finished. I initially found three memory Leaks using Instruments. (The responsible caller mentioned was RegisterEmbedCodecs). After suggestion from a "ahmet emrah" in this forum to add MediaPlayer framework, the number of leaks reduced to one. And is there any way to completely get rid of it? Thanks and regards, krishnan.
