Drawing application on OpenGL for iOS (iPad)

Some help is needed. I'm developing drawing application on OpenGL (deployment target 4.0) for iOS (iPad). We have 3 drawing tools: pen, marker (with alfa) and eraser. I draw with textures, using blending in orthographic projection. I can't use z-ordering because in this case I have to face a lot of troubles with cutting and erasing. The thing that I need is to make the pen be always on the top. When I first use marker and than pen - it's ok. But if I use pen first and marker over the pen - I can't see pen color under marker. I'd appreciate any help or advice. Thank you veeeeeery much!

Since the commands come in text format from the client, what is the best way to translate the string to a command object? Should I use reflection? Currently I just assume the command that comes in matches the file name of a user control. This is a bit of a hack. Rather than have a select case statement that says if string = "Dashboard" then call Dashboard.Execute(), is there a pattern for working with commands that originate as strings?

Local LINQtoSQL Database For Your Windows Phone 7 Application

There aren’t many applications that are of value without having some for of data store. In Windows Phone development we have a few options. You can store text directly to isolated storage. You can also use a number of third party libraries to create or mimic databases in isolated storage. With Mango we gained the ability to have a native .NET database approach which uses LINQ to SQL. In this article I will try to bring together the components needed to implement this last type of data store and fill in some of the blanks that I think other articles have left out. Defining A Database The first things you are going to need to do is define classes that represent your tables and a data context class that is used as the overall database definition. The table class consists of column definitions as you would expect. They can have relationships and constraints as with any relational DBMS. Below is an example of a table definition. First you will need to add some assembly references to the code file. using System.ComponentModel;using System.Data.Linq;using System.Data.Linq.Mapping; You can then add the table class and its associated columns. It needs to implement INotifyPropertyChanged and INotifyPropertyChanging. Each level of the class needs to be decorated with the attribute appropriate for that part of the definition. Where the class represents the table the properties represent the columns. In this example you will see that the column is marked as a primary key and not nullable with a an auto generated value. You will also notice that the in the column property’s set method It uses the NotifyPropertyChanging and NotifyPropertyChanged methods in order to make sure that the proper events are fired. This is a simple class that takes an isolated storage location connection string its constructor and then instantiates tables as public properties. public class MyDataContext: DataContext{ public MyDataContext(string connectionString): base(connectionString) { MyRecords = this.GetTable<MyTable>(); } public Table<MyTable> MyRecords;} Creating A New Database Instance Now that we have a database definition it is time to create an instance of the data context within our Windows Phone app. When your app fires up it should check if the database already exists and create an instance if it does not. I would suggest that this be part of the constructor of your ViewModel. db = new MyDataContext(connectionString);if(!db.DatabaseExists()){ db.CreateDatabase();} The next thing you have to know is how the connection string for isolated storage should be constructed. The main sticking point I have found is that the database cannot be created unless the file mode is read/write. You may have different connection strings but the initial one needs to be similar to the following. string connString = "Data Source = 'isostore:/MyApp.sdf'; File Mode = read write"; Using you database Now that you have done all the up front work it is time to put the database to use. To make your life a little easier and keep proper separation between your view and your viewmodel you should add a couple of methods to the viewmodel. These will do the CRUD work of your application. Unfortunately you have to add code to your application that checks the version of the database which over time will create some pollution in your codes base. On the other hand it does give you control of the update. In this example you will see the DatabaseSchemaUpdater in action. I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my desktop. (Pentium 4, 80 GB hard disk, 2 GB RAM, 32-bit CPU.) And I have installed Windows XP. I made a 40 GB partition for windows and 40 GB for Ubuntu. I installed Ubuntu and it said "installation is complete" and asked me to restart. I restarted the PC and logged in. After 1 minute I get a message like this: The application compiz has closed unexpectedly. Then I closed it. After that it just stays in blank screen nothing shows up. What should I do?

I am using Ubuntu. I would like to have a user be able to double-click (or whatever they have set to open a file) on the save file for a java game i'm making, and have the game start and automatically load the save. How could I make the game launch instead of opening the file, and then pass the save's file name or location as an argument? Would i have to have the game create a new mime type the first time it ran, or something similar, so that Ubuntu knows what to do with the save when the user tries to open it?

In my company we work on a software that produce reports in html format. My bosses love the fact that static html pages can be moved across computer simply by moving/copying a folder and no web server is involved, so the customer only need a browser. The problem is that they asking me to implement a lot of feature which is very hard to implement properly and in a clean way without an application server. Frames cross domain problem, the impossibility to work with GET and POST data, no URLs routing...is very hard to work with this limitations. Anyone had similiar experience and wants to share their tricks/suggestion ? Do I need to tell my boss 'there is no future without a web server'? Regards.

But the problem is that my desktop machine doesn't have wireless support. So, I have no other options except using ethernet to connect them. We have to write an administration panel for many customers. But we want to have just one administration panel, and use it in various projects. This admin panel will have basic components such as access control logic, maker-checker system in changes, user logging and etc. It will also have reporting for the customer, logs of transaction of the customer (which can vary according to the industry such as mobile banking, banking, ticket sales). These components may have to be modified according to the business. So we are thinking about the architecture here, Is it OK to use jars of every basic components, and bring them together on a glue application? Or should we build each component as WARs and make interfaces between them? If there are any more ideas, it will be appreciated.

Keeping application backend and UI synchronised

Hi all. I have an app that works with a list of objects so has one central keyed list. The main window has a tree containing these object with some information, which is easy enough to populate as a one off event after loading. Now, the complicated part, any part of the application can add, remove, and more importantly change the details of those objects at any time (all in the same process) and I'd like the tree to update to suit. I have a few options including passing events back down from the object to the list to the form which seems to be the most flexible way. I can also do it lazily and repopulate the tree each time or periodically (very hackish). Does anyone have any better thoughts on how to structure this? This is being done in C# 2.0 but the concepts apply to any environment. Thanks

How do I focus an "urgent" application?

Sometimes applications will wiggle in the launcher and have a blue triangle. (See compiz config settings for Unity.) How can I set a keyboard command to bring that application to the front in Ubuntu 11.10? I had it set in 11.04, but I don't remember how. This is useful when programs open in the background or if you activate them from another app. (I have an alias to send files to a single gvim instance from Terminal instead of opening them in their own window. When gvim gets the file, it wiggles but doesn't gain focus.)

Hi all, I've done a few searches and couldn't find an answer. I'm trying to update the status of my business's "Application Page" (not personal page, and not "Fan Page") on Facebook. Two questions for the community: 1) How to update the "Application Page" status programmatically? I found the answer for a "Fan Page" here (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2097665/authorizing-a-facebook-fan-page-for-status-updates). Does anyone think it will work for an "Application Page" as well? 2) How to update the "Application Page" status through a third party service? Ideally, I'd like to post to one location and have it show up a) on my business twitter status and b) on my Facebook "Application Page" status. Hi, I have an application developed on RAD using WAS 6.0. I migrated the code to WID 7.0. After making some changes in the EJB modules(Had to remove the bnd.xmi file from each ejb module to deploy the application on Application Server)the application is running fine, but the EJB modules give the following error: NamingException has Occured While Getting Local Home javax.naming.NameNotFoundException:nullName ejb/com/igcc not found in context "local:". Hello. I want to handle following scenarios in my new web application. If multiple users log into the application with same credentials, the application should deny access. Since I have out of process session store, I would be able to make out when this situation happens. So I can deny all requests after first successful attempt. This will however not work if the user instead of logging out of the application, closes the browser. The session will continue to reflect in the store for the period of timeout value. If a user attempts to open a new browser windows (Ctrl+N), the application should defeat this attempt. Every new page can potentially fiddle with cookies. I want to therefore deny the users the ability to open new window.
