  • log in to web-app through less secure website [on hold]

    We are worried about the security of our website containing the login-button to our saas-application. Security measures put in place for our application won't do us much good if the website is hacked. The login button could be redirected to some malicious copy of our app. The product website is maintained by people outside the dev team. Those people are not too knowledgable concerning security. We (dev-team) could mantain the website ourselves but that would be a large burden on our small team. How is this usually handled?

  • Trouble with Code First DatabaseGenerated Composite Primary Key

    This is a tad complicated, and please, I know all the arguments against natural PK's, so we don't need to have that discussion. using VS2012/MVC4/C#/CodeFirst So, the PK is based on the date and a corresponding digit together. So, a few rows created today would be like this: 20131019 1 20131019 2 And one created tomorrow: 20131020 1 This has to be automatically generated using C# or as a trigger or whatever. The user wouldn't input this. I did come up with a solution, but I'm having problems with it, and I'm a little stuck, hence the question. So, I have a model: public class MainOne { //[Key] //public int ID { get; set; } [Key][Column(Order=1)] [DatabaseGenerated(DatabaseGeneratedOption.None)] public string DocketDate { get; set; } [Key][Column(Order=2)] [DatabaseGenerated(DatabaseGeneratedOption.None)] public string DocketNumber { get; set; } [StringLength(3, ErrorMessage = "Corp Code must be three letters")] public string CorpCode { get; set; } [StringLength(4, ErrorMessage = "Corp Code must be four letters")] public string DocketStatus { get; set; } } After I finish the model, I create a new controller and views using VS2012 scaffolding. The ObjectContext might be in an inconsistent state. Inner exception message: The object state cannot be changed. This exception may result from one or more of the primary key properties being set to null. Non-Added objects cannot have null primary key values. See inner exception for details. Now, what's interesting to me, is that after I stop debugging and I start again, everything is perfect. The trigger fired perfectly, so the composite PK is unique and perfect, and the data in other columns is intact. My guess is that EF is confused by the fact that there is seemingly no value for the PK until AFTER an insert command is given. Also, appearing to back this theory, is that when I try to edit on of the rows, in debug, I get the following error: The number of primary key values passed must match number of primary key values defined on the entity. Same error occurs if I try to pull the 'Details' or 'Delete' function. Any solution or ideas on how to pull this off? I'm pretty open to anything, even creating a hidden int PK. But it would seem redundant. I setup the licensing mode correctly (per user) and also have setup to allow all remote connections.     Okay, so I'm going to take the off chance that someone here has used zxing before. I'm developing a Java application, and one of the things it needs to do is encode a byte array of data into a QR Code and then decode it at a later time.     I get this build error when I build my iPhone project to run on my device: Code Sign error: The identity 'iPhone Developer: x Xxxxx' doesn't match any identity in any profile My development code signing certificate expired so I got a new one. On my first attempt I created a new CSR and got the message above. The second time I reused my original CSR and got the same result. Another strange thing is the new certificate has an extra string with brackets after my name in the "common name" when I look at it using Keychain Access like this: iPhone Developer: x Xxxxx (3BDUAJYC9Q) My original certificate didn't have that. I have Xcode Version 3.1.3 Component versions Xcode IDE: 1191.0 Xcode Core: 1192.0 ToolSupport: 1186.0 Does anyone know how to solve this?

    I would like to annotate many of my Hibernate entities that contain reference data and/or configuration data with @Cache(usage = CacheConcurrencyStrategy.READ_ONLY) However, my JUnit tests are setting up and tearing down some of this reference/configuration data using the Hibernate entities. Is there a recommended way of having entities be read-write during test setup and teardown but read-only for production code? Two of my immediate thoughts for non-ideal workarounds are: Using NONSTRICT_READ_WRITE, but I am not sure what the hidden downsides are. Creating subclassed entities in my test code to override the read-only cache annotation. Any recommendations on the cleanest way to handle this? (Note: Project uses maven.)

  • SOLVED mwfeedparser integrating in my app gives EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=1, address=0xa0040008)

    SOLVED- Got it! The problem was that since I am creating the DoParsingStuff *parseThisUrl object in the viewDidLoad method, it's scope was only within that method. So after the method finished, the object got deallocated. I changed it to an instance variable instead and now it works. It gives a different error but that it an entirely different issue. Issue was: I have been struggling with trying to integrate the mwfeedparser library in my app for parsing RSS and ATOM feeds.   • eclipse debugger: attaching source-code of maven managed libraries

    I'd like to use the source code of maven-managed dependencies when debugging our webapp in eclipse. I have managed to attach the sources to the libraries in the "Maven Managed Depedencies" classpath container, i.e. when I open a class file from a depedency (e.g. using Ctrl-Shift-T), I see the source code. However, when I launch the tomcat within eclipse, and execution halts on a breakpoint in that same class, the editor pane only displays the text "source not found", and a button to edit the "source lookup path". I have attempted to manually add the "Maven Managed Dependencies" classpath container, only to be told "Use maven project settings to configure depedency resolution". However, I see no useful setting in that property pane ... How can I attach those sources?

  • When is calculating or variable-reading faster?

    hi, to be honest, I don't really know what the "small green men" in my cpu and compiler do, so I sometimes would like to know :). Currently I would like to know what's faster, so that I can design my code in a more efficient way. So for example I want to calclate something at different points in my sourcecode, when will it be faster to calculate it once and store it in a variable that's read and used for the next points it's needed and when is it faster to calculate it everytime? I think it's depending on how "complex" and "long" the calculation is and how fast then cache is, where variables are stored, but I don't have any clue what's faster :). Thanks for any reply to my tiny but important question! Andreas PS: perhaps it's important to know that I code in JAVA, but it's more a genral question.

    I'm new to objective-c and Im trying to write a little sample app that gets some XML from a remote server and outputs it to the console, but when I do it I get a EXC_BAD_ACCESS which I dont understand: NSString *FeedURL = @"MYURLGOESHERE"; NSURLRequest *theRequest = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:FeedURL]]; NSURLResponse *resp = nil; NSError *err = nil; NSData *response = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest: theRequest returningResponse: &resp error: &err]; NSString *theString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:response encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; NSLog(@"Response: %@", theString);]; [resp release]; [err release]; When I comment out the [resp release] line I dont get it anymore, can someone please explain this to me :) Thanks

As a person who loves to follow the best practices, If i run code metrics (right click on project name in solution explorer and select "Calculate Code Metrics" - Visual Studio 2010) on: public static string GetFormFactor(int number) { string formFactor = string.Empty; switch (number) { case 1: formFactor = "Other"; break; case 2: formFactor = "SIP"; break; case 3: formFactor = "DIP"; break; case 4: formFactor = "ZIP"; break; case 5: formFactor = "SOJ"; break; } return formFactor; } It Gives me a Maintainability index of 61 (of course this is insignificant if you have only this, but if you use an utility like class whos philosophy is doing stuff like that, your utility class will have the maintainability index much worst..) Whats the solution for this?

    Hello Im trying to find best practices to write PHP. I just wonder is this a bad habit. For example, processing variables. $var = 1 $var = doSomething($var); $var = doSomething2($var); $var = doSomething3($var); It looks a bit awful. Here is a example of a real code that I just did: $this->rSum = explode(",", $this->options["rSum"]); $this->rSum = array_combine(array_values($this->rSum), array_fill(0, count($this->rSum), 0)); If someone could pass me some good tutorials of writing cleaner code generally it would be nice! Its me again asking stupid questions. :)

  • What development technologies or technology stack is typically used in the security industry?

    In this case security means building security (access control, alarm systems, etc). And I am not talking about working directly with the hardware, more focused on web based applications/api's that clients or companies can use? Are there technologies that are commonly used? Are there technologies that shouldn't be used? Are there any real benefits to a linux based stack as opposed to a windows based stack for exposing web based applications?
