  • Test massive website

    My company has just migrated all the code for our website to 3 identical servers on an off-site location. Now it is our job to test them. However, the amount of websites/functionality that we have to test is exorbitant, and multiply that times 3! To check every single link and every single function is a daunting task. We are in the process of manually doing that right now. My question to you guys/girls is this... Is there a way to automate the testing so we don't have to waste our time clicking, waiting, and checking the response, times 3? ;-) Let me know if you need any other info. Thanks!

  • Running Test framework as part of application

    Hi, I would like to know if it is possible in rails to run some test cases through my application. I mean, i want show the test results to users. So i was thinking to be able to call my tests through a controller and put the tests output in a dialog. Imagine that i'm doing an application where before to apply a rule, i want to run some validation tests. I could write methods in my rule model to do it, but i would like to use something like shoulda or any other kind of DSL where the "fixture" would be a record itself. Any tip or idea?

  • Why are scrollbars appearing on my site on mobile devices?

    I'm trying to make a small project site that's responsive using twitter-bootstrap and ember.js. It looks great on desktop and mostly scales to mobile devices except for one thing: x and y scrollbars appear on my android phone for the page. I don't know if this is the case on iPhone because I don't have one available at the moment. My site is here Can anyone see anything obvious in the inspector?

  • ExtJS: Combobox in EditorGridPanel not selecting the desired item (with test case)

    I'm using ExtJS to create an EditorGridPanel with a combobox for an editor in a cell. The combobox in my EditorGridPanel that is not working as I'd expect it to. When the user types the first letter of an item in the drop down list, the combobox seems to ignore it and select the first item in the list. I can reproduce the error consistently and have put together a test case here: http://cluebucket.com/dev/testcase/testcase.html Load the page and reproduce the behavior by the following -- note that this is all done using the keyboard, no mouse clicks: Click 'Add Record' (A new row is added to the grid) enter text in the text field. TAB to the Priority field without selecting anything (None will remain selected) TAB out of the Priority field. (A new row is added to the grid) enter text and TAB to the Priority field TYPE v (Very High is selected) TAB out of the priority field (A new row is added to the grid) enter text and TAB to the Priority field Type v (None is selected, but Very High should have been) TAB out of the priority field Enter text and TAB to the priority field Type l ('el') (Low is selected) TAB out, enter text, TAB to priority Type l (None is selected) It appears that whenever the user attempts to select the same value that was selected in the previous row, the combobox selects None.   • AD-Integrated DNS failure: "Access was Denied"

    I have a single Windows 2008 R2 server configured as a domain controller with Active Directory Domain Services and DNS Server. The DNS Server was recently uninstalled and reinstalled in an attempt to fix a (possibly unrelated) problem; the event log was previously flooded with errors (#4000, "The DNS Server was unable to open Active Directory...") which reinstalling did not fix. However, while before it was at least showing and resolving names from the local network (slowly), now it's showing nothing at all. (The original error started with a #4015 error "The DNS server has encountered a critical error from the Active Directory," followed by a long string of #4000 and a few #4004. This may have been caused when a new DNS name was recently added, but I can't be sure of the timing.) Attempting to manage the DNS through Administrative Tools > DNS brings up an error: The server SERVERNAME could not be contacted. The error was: Access was denied. Would you like to add it anyway? Selecting yes just puts a SERVERNAME item on the list, but with all the configuration options grayed out. I attempted editing my hosts file as per this post but to no avail. Running dcdiag, it does identify the home server properly, but fails right away testing connectivity with: Starting test: Connectivity The host blahblahblahyaddayaddayadda could not be resolved to an IP address. Check the DNS server, DHCP, server name, etc. Got error while checking LDAP and RPC connectivity. Please check your firewall settings. ......................... SERVERNAME failed test Connectivity Adding the blahblahblahyaddayaddayadda address to hosts (pointing at 127.0.0.1), the connectivity test succeeded but it didn't seem to solve the fundamental problem (Access was denied) so I hashed it out again. Primary DNS server is properly pointing at 127.0.0.1 according to ipconfig /all. And the DNS server is forwarding requests to external addresses properly (if slowly), but the resolving of local network names is borked. The DNS database itself is small enough that I am (grudgingly) able to rebuild it if need be, but the DNS Server doesn't seem willing to let me work with (or around) it at all. (and yes before you ask there are no system backups available) Where do I go from here?     I'm trying to write a program to help me manage my iTunes library, including removing duplicates and cataloging certain things. At this point I'm still just trying to get it to walk through all the folders, and have run into a problem: I have a small amount of Japanese music, where the artist and/or album is written in Japanese characters. Because of how iTunes arranges things in its library the directories contain these characters. "shouldn't be a problem, though."     The TouchUtils class in the android documentation has functions like drag() [http://developer.android.com/intl/de/reference/android/test/TouchUtils.html#drag(android.test.InstrumentationTestCase,%20float,%20float,%20float,%20float,%20int)], but they do not support multi touch gestures, like a two finger swipe. Looking at the MotionEvent.obtain() methods, there does not seem to be any way of invoking a "virtual" multi touch event from a testcase. Anyone has got it working?

  • Wacom consumer tablet driver service may crash while opening Bamboo Preferences, often after resuming computer from sleep

    One of the ExpressKeys on my Wacom Bamboo Capture graphics tablet is mapped to Bamboo Preferences, so that I can quickly access the tablet settings and view the battery level (I have the Wireless Accessory Kit installed). However, when I connect the tablet to the computer, in wired or wireless mode, and attempt to open Bamboo Preferences, the Wacom consumer tablet driver service may crash, most often when I try to do so after resuming the computer from sleep. There is usually no direct indication of the crash (although I once did get Tablet Service for consumer driver stopped working and was closed), only that the cursor shows that the system is busy for a split second. When this happens, the pen no longer tracks on the screen when in proximity of the tablet (even though it is detected by the tablet itself); however, touch continues to function correctly. To recover from this condition, I need to restart the tablet driver services. I got tired of having to go through Task Manager to restart the service every time this happens, so I ended up writing the following command script, with a shortcut on the desktop for running it with elevated privileges: net stop TabletServicePen net start TabletServicePen net stop TouchServicePen net start TouchServicePen Is there something I can do to prevent these crashes from happening in the first place, or do I have have to deal with this issue until the driver is updated? Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Tablet drivers are up to date.   • Stress test speed on a gateway?

    I'm interested in stress testing my gateway server but am lost on how. Most of the stress testing applications I've seen only see how much load an app like Apache can handle, but not this. Essentially I want to send as many packets I can into this box with one computer on one card and see how many come out the other in another computer just to get an idea of what kind of load this can handle. I'm also interested how Snort will perform. I'm not really sure how to do this though. What tools could you recommend that could do this?

  • CPU Test Similar to Memtest?

    I need an easy way to do system stability tests. I have come to rely on Prime95 which does a fantastic job of proving stability (or instability) very quickly; but it requires an OS installed. I would like something like Prime95 that stresses both CPU and RAM (maybe PCI-Ex bus also?) but runs in a nice bootable binary like Memtest86+ does, so I can boot it from a thumbdrive. Does such a thing exist?

  • Clone remote CentOS server to local test server?

    We have a dedicated server running ContOS 5.5. The server runs our Magento store and a basic php website with mysql. I have a spare rack server in my office (HP ProLiant DL360 G4) that has more than enough storage space to store a duplicate of our dedicated server. I would like to clone the dedicated server entirely and have a local duplicate. It wouldn't need to be kept in sync because I can do that with GIT. The reason I want to do this is simple; learn more about the dedicated server and CentOS. Is this possible? I have SSH access to the dedicated server and obviously complete access to the local server.
