  • undefined reference to function, despite giving reference in c

    - by Jamie Edwards
I'm following a tutorial, but when it comes to compiling and linking the code I get the following error: /tmp/cc8gRrVZ.o: In function `main': main.c:(.text+0xa): undefined reference to `monitor_clear' main.c:(.text+0x16): undefined reference to `monitor_write' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [obj/main.o] Error 1 What that is telling me is that I haven't defined both 'monitor_clear' and 'monitor_write'. But I have, in both the header and source files. They are as follows: monitor.c: // monitor.c -- Defines functions for writing to the monitor. // heavily based on Bran's kernel development tutorials, // but rewritten for JamesM's kernel tutorials. #include "monitor.h" // The VGA framebuffer starts at 0xB8000. u16int *video_memory = (u16int *)0xB8000; // Stores the cursor position. u8int cursor_x = 0; u8int cursor_y = 0; // Updates the hardware cursor. static void move_cursor() { // The screen is 80 characters wide... u16int cursorLocation = cursor_y * 80 + cursor_x; outb(0x3D4, 14); // Tell the VGA board we are setting the high cursor byte. outb(0x3D5, cursorLocation >> 8); // Send the high cursor byte. outb(0x3D4, 15); // Tell the VGA board we are setting the low cursor byte. outb(0x3D5, cursorLocation); // Send the low cursor byte. } // Scrolls the text on the screen up by one line. static void scroll() { // Get a space character with the default colour attributes. u8int attributeByte = (0 /*black*/ << 4) | (15 /*white*/ & 0x0F); u16int blank = 0x20 /* space */ | (attributeByte << 8); // Row 25 is the end, this means we need to scroll up if(cursor_y >= 25) { // Move the current text chunk that makes up the screen // back in the buffer by a line int i; for (i = 0*80; i < 24*80; i++) { video_memory[i] = video_memory[i+80]; } // The last line should now be blank. • Using PHP to read a web page with fsockopen(), but fgets is not working

  • How does the socket API accept() function work?

    - by Eli Bendersky
The socket API is the de-facto standard for TCP/IP and UDP/IP communications (that is, networking code as we know it). However, one of its core functions, accept() is a bit magical. To borrow a semi-formal definition: accept() is used on the server side. It accepts a received incoming attempt to create a new TCP connection from the remote client, and creates a new socket associated with the socket address pair of this connection. In other words, accept returns a new socket through which the server can communicate with the newly connected client. The old socket (on which accept was called) stays open, on the same port, listening for new connections. How does accept work? How is it implemented? There's a lot of confusion on this topic. Many people claim accept opens a new port and you communicate with the client through it. But this obviously isn't true, as no new port is opened. You actually can communicate through the same port with different clients, but how? When several threads call recv on the same port, how does the data know where to go? I guess it's something along the lines of the client's address being associated with a socket descriptor, and whenever data comes through recv it's routed to the correct socket, but I'm not sure. It'd be great to get a thorough explanation of the inner-workings of this mechanism.

  • Decrypting data from a secure socket

    - by Ronald
I'm working on a server application in Java. I've successfully got past the handshake portion of the communication process, but how do I go about decrypting my input stream? Here is how I set up my server: import java.io.IOException; import java.net.ServerSocket; import java.net.Socket; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.HashMap; import javax.net.ServerSocketFactory; import javax.net.ssl.SSLServerSocket; import javax.net.ssl.SSLServerSocketFactory; import org.json.me.JSONException; import dictionary.Dictionary; public class Server { private static int port = 1234; public static void main(String[] args) throws JSONException { System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", "src/my.keystore"); System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword", "test123"); System.out.println("Starting server on port: " + port); HashMap<String, Game> games = new HashMap<String, Game>(); final String[] enabledCipherSuites = { "SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA" }; try{ SSLServerSocketFactory socketFactory = (SSLServerSocketFactory) SSLServerSocketFactory.getDefault(); SSLServerSocket listener = (SSLServerSocket) socketFactory.createServerSocket(port); listener.setEnabledCipherSuites(enabledCipherSuites); Socket server; Dictionary dict = new Dictionary(); Game game = new Game(dict); //for testing, creates 1 global game. while(true){ server = listener.accept(); ClientConnection conn = new ClientConnection(server, game, "User"); Thread t = new Thread(conn); t.start(); } } catch(IOException e){ System.out.println("Failed setting up on port: " + port); e.printStackTrace(); } } } I used a BufferedReader to get the data send from the client: BufferedReader d = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(socket.getInputStream())); After the handshake is complete it appears like I'm getting encrypted data. I did some research online and it seems like I might need to use a Cipher, but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

  • Socket read() hangs for a while when there is no data to read.

    - by janesconference
Hi' I'm writing a simple http port forwarder. I read data from port 80, and pass the data to my lighttpd server, on port 8080. As long as I write() data on the socket on port 8080 (forwarding the request) there's no problem, but when I read() data from that socket (forwarding the response), the last read() hangs a lot (about 1 or 2 seconds) before realizing there's no more data and returning 0. I tried to set the socket to non-blocking, but this doesn't work, as sometimes it returns EWOULDBLOCKING even if there's some data left (lighttpd + cgi can be quite slow). I tried to set a timeout with select(), but, as above, a slow cgi could timeout the socket when there's actually some data to transmit. How would you do?

  • Sockets, Threads and Services in android, how to make them work together ?

    - by Spredzy
    Hi all, I am facing a probleme with threads and sockets I cant figure it out, if someone can help me please i would really appreciate. There are the facts : I have a service class NetworkService, inside this class I have a Socket attribute. I would like it be at the state of connected for the whole lifecycle of the service. To connect the socket I do it in a thread, so if the server has to timeout, it would not block my UI thread. Problem is, into the thread where I connect my socket everything is fine, it is connected and I can talk to my server, once this thread is over and I try to reuse the socket, in another thread, I have the error message Socket is not connected. Questions are : - Is the socket automatically disconnected at the end of the thread? - Is their anyway we can pass back a value from a called thread to the caller ? Thanks a lot, Here is my code public class NetworkService extends Service { private Socket mSocket = new Socket(); private void _connectSocket(String addr, int port) { Runnable connect = new connectSocket(this.mSocket, addr, port); new Thread(connect).start(); } private void _authentification() { Runnable auth = new authentification(); new Thread(auth).start(); } private INetwork.Stub mBinder = new INetwork.Stub() { @Override public int doConnect(String addr, int port) throws RemoteException { _connectSocket(addr, port); _authentification(); return 0; } }; class connectSocket implements Runnable { String addrSocket; int portSocket; int TIMEOUT=5000; public connectSocket(String addr, int port) { addrSocket = addr; portSocket = port; } @Override public void run() { SocketAddress socketAddress = new InetSocketAddress(addrSocket, portSocket); try { mSocket.connect(socketAddress, TIMEOUT); PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(mSocket.getOutputStream(), true); out.println("test42"); Log.i("connectSocket()", "Connection Succesful"); } catch (IOException e) { Log.e("connectSocket()", e.getMessage()); e.printStackTrace(); } } } class authentification implements Runnable { private String constructFirstConnectQuery() { String query = "toto"; return query; } @Override public void run() { BufferedReader in; PrintWriter out; String line = ""; try { in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(mSocket.getInputStream())); out = new PrintWriter(mSocket.getOutputStream(), true); out.println(constructFirstConnectQuery()); while (mSocket.isConnected()) { line = in.readLine(); Log.e("LINE", "[Current]- " + line); } } catch (IOException e) {e.printStackTrace();} } }

  • Prepopulate drop-box according to another drop-box choice in Django Admin

    - by onorua
I have models like this: class User(models.Model): Switch = models.ForeignKey(Switch, related_name='SwitchUsers') Port = models.ForeignKey(Port) class Switch(models.Model): Name = models.CharField(max_length=50) class Port(models.Model): PortNum = models.PositiveIntegerField() Switch = models.ForeignKey(Switch, related_name = "Ports") When I'm in Admin interface and choose Switch from Switches available, I would like to have Port prepopulated accordingly with Ports from the related Switch. As far as I understand I need to create some JS script to prepopulate it. Unfortunately I don't have this experience, and I would like to keep things simple as it possible and don't rewrite all Django admin interface. Just add this functionality for one Field. Could you please help me with my problem? Thank you.

Hi, I am using an HP RS232 pole display with the following setting: Char type: USA/Europe (default) Command mode: EPSON (default) Baud rate: 9600, n , 8, 1 (default?) Passthru None (Default) Here's the code using System.IO.Ports; private SerialPort port; port = new SerialPort("COM2", 9600, Parity.None, 8, StopBits. One); port.Handshake = Handshake.None; Port.WriteLine("Welocome to something something"); It has 2 lines consisting of 20 characters each with a total of 40 characters. I have no control how and where the characters get displayed. I have set it to accept ASCII char set and so I am able to type as is visble in the Writeline message

  • Close TCP connection when owner process is already killed

    - by Otiel
I have a Windows service that - when it starts - opens some WCF services to listen on the 8000 port. It happens that this service crashes sometimes. When it does, the TCP connection is not released, thus causing my service to throw an exception if I try to start it again: AddressAlreadyInUseException: There is already a listener on IP endpoint 0.0.0.0:8000 Some observations: When running CurrPorts or netstat -ano, I can see that the 8000 port is still in use (in LISTENING state) and is owned by the Process ID XXX that corresponded to my service process ID. But my service has already crashed, and does not appear in the Task Manager anymore. Thus I can't kill the process to free the port! Of course, running taskkill /PID XXX returns: ERROR: The process "XXX" not found. When running CurrPorts or netstat -b, I can see that the process name involved in creating the listening port is System, and not as MyService.exe (whereas it is MyService.exe when my service is running). I tried to use CurrPorts to close the connection, but I always get the following error message: Failed to close one or more TCP connections. Be aware that you must run this tool as admin in order to close TCP connections. (Useless to say, I do run CurrPorts as Administrator...) TCPView is not much help either: the process name associated to the 8000 port is <non-existent>, and doing "End process" or "Close connection" has no effect. I tried to see if there was not a child process associated with the PID XXX using Process Explorer, but no luck here. If I close my service properly (before it crashes), the TCP connection is correctly released. This is normal, as I close the WCF service hosts in the OnStop() event of my service. The only way I found to release the connection is to restart the server (which is not convenient in a production environment as you can guess). Waiting does not help, the TCP connection is never released. How can I close the connection without restarting the Windows server? PS: found some questions extremely similar to mine.

  • Connecting Java se Client to Glassfish

    - by Henrik Bierbum Bacher
We are having some difficulties connecting our Java SE standalone client with the EJB module deployed on a remote GlassFish server. Pointers to how we are supposed to connect our client would be appreciated. The client code we currently has to get the initial context: props.setProperty("org.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialHost", "*remotehost*"); props.setProperty("org.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialPort", "portNumber"); javax.naming.InitialContext ic = new javax.naming.InitialContext(props); *We have tried several different port numbers; 3700, 7676, 8080.. The closest we are getting, got us the error: "Error in GIOP magic". I read that jms are using port 7676 as a broker port for a bunch of dynamically generated ports, but can't figure out how to specify those ports in order to create proper port-forwards.

  • linux raw socket programming question

    - by user194420
Hi all, I am trying to create a raw socket which send and receive message with ip/tcp header under linux. I can successfully binds to a port and receive tcp message(ie:syn) However, the message seems to be handled by the os, but not mine. I am just a reader of it(like wireshark). My raw socket binds to port 8888, and then i try to telnet to that port . In wireshark, it shows that the port 8888 reply a "rst ack" when it receive the "syn" request. In my program, it shows that it receive a new message and it doesnot reply with any message. Any way to actually binds to that port?(prevent os handle it) Here is part of my code, i try to cut those error checking for easy reading sockfd = socket(AF_INET, SOCK_RAW, IPPROTO_TCP); int tmp = 1; const int *val = &tmp; setsockopt (sockfd, IPPROTO_IP, IP_HDRINCL, val, sizeof (tmp)); servaddr.sin_family = AF_INET; servaddr.sin_addr.s_addr = htonl(INADDR_ANY); servaddr.sin_port = htons(8888); bind(sockfd, (struct sockaddr*)&servaddr, sizeof(servaddr)); //call recv in loop

I've got an unusual problem with my computer. When ever I reboot my computer it won't boot, I get a few beeps from the BIOS and nothing else, however if I wait for a few minuets the computer will boot perfectly. I tried to count the beeps and I get around 7-9 of them; the first two are noticeably closer together than the rest. [Edit: I'm now reasonably confident it's 1 long followed by 8 short beeps. That would be a display related issue: http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/amibeep.htm] My BIOS is American Megatrends Inc and version P1.80, the Motherboard is an ASRock X58 Extreme (both according to dmidecode) Here's an output from LSPCI, I'm not sure what else might be useful but I can provide whatever's asked. 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 5520/5500/X58 I/O Hub to ESI Port (rev 13) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 5520/5500/X58 I/O Hub PCI Express Root Port 1 (rev 13) 00:03.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 5520/5500/X58 I/O Hub PCI Express Root Port 3 (rev 13) 00:07.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 5520/5500/X58 I/O Hub PCI Express Root Port 7 (rev 13) 00:14.0 PIC: Intel Corporation 5520/5500/X58 I/O Hub System Management Registers (rev 13) 00:14.1 PIC: Intel Corporation 5520/5500/X58 I/O Hub GPIO and Scratch Pad Registers (rev 13) 00:14.2 PIC: Intel Corporation 5520/5500/X58 I/O Hub Control Status and RAS Registers (rev 13) 00:14.3 PIC: Intel Corporation 5520/5500/X58 I/O Hub Throttle Registers (rev 13) 00:1a.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 00:1a.1 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 00:1a.2 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI Controller #6 00:1a.7 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) PCI Express Root Port 1 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) PCI Express Port 2 00:1c.5 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) PCI Express Root Port 6 00:1d.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 00:1d.1 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 00:1d.2 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 00:1d.7 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge (rev 90) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801JIR (ICH10R) LPC Interface Controller 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) SATA AHCI Controller 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) SMBus Controller 01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. • Help with OpenVPN setup on Windows Server 2003

    - by Bill Johnson
Hi all, Just wondering if someone can assist me further with the set-up of OpenVPN on my Windows Server 2003. I have configured Win Server as per the following guide: http://tinyurl.com/kxusv and I'm now at the stage of Creating the config files. I have a few questions that I need some assistance with. My server IP is 192.168.1.10 and my routers IP address is 192.168.1.1 (the router is a Netgear DGN2000). I have edited the server.ovpn file as per the following: push "dhcp-option DNS X.X.X.X" # Replace the Xs with the IP address of the DNS for your home network (usually your ISP's DNS) push "dhcp-option DNS X.X.X.X" # A second DNS server if you have one to include my ISP DNS and I have not edited anything else. Now my issue is with the client1.opvpn file as per the below: client dev tap #dev-node MyTAP #If you renamed your TAP interface or have more than one TAP interface then remove the # at the beginning and change "MyTAP" to its name proto udp remote YOURHOST.dyndns.org 1194 #You will need to enter you dyndns account or static IP address here. The number following it is the port you set in the server's config route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 vpn_gateway 3 #This it the IP address scheme and subnet of your normal network your server is on. Your router would usually be 192.168.1.1 resolv-retry infinite nobind persist-key persist-tun ca "C:\\Program Files\\OpenVPN\\easy-rsa\\keys\\ca.crt" cert "C:\\Program Files\\OpenVPN\\easy-rsa\\keys\\client1.crt" # Change the next two lines to match the files in the keys directory. This should be be different for each client. key "C:\\Program Files\\OpenVPN\\easy-rsa\\keys\\client1.key" # This file should be kept secret ns-cert-type server cipher BF-CBC # Blowfish (default) encrytion comp-lzo verb 1 To me it looks like I will need to amend the following: remote YOURHOST.dyndns.org 1194 #You will need to enter you dyndns account or static IP address here. The number following it is the port you set in the server's config route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 vpn_gateway 3 #This it the IP address scheme and subnet of your normal network your server is on. Your router would usually be 192.168.1.1 So, should the first line be the static IP of the machine that I'm applying this to? The IP address of the server (192.168.1.10) or something else? I'm also stuck on the second part 'route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 vpn_gateway 3' Should this be the router IP which is 192.168.1.1 and the subnet is 255.255.255.0 and that is all I need to alter? The final part that I'm stuggling with is Configuring the router. Basically I have a Netgear DGN2000 and as it mentions that the router should be configured to port forward port 1194 to the server’s IP address of 192.168.1.150 all I have been able to do is in 'Firewall Rules' and on 'Inbound Services', set the Service to 'Any(ALL) and Send to LAN Server point to 1923.168.1.150. I'm not sure if this is correct? It is the following stage of the help guide that I'm struggling with and really need some help with: You need to make sure the port you configured OpenVPN to listen on is forwarded on the router to the IP address of your server. On the WRT54G, port forwarding is configured in the “Applications & Gaming” section. Enter 1194 for the port, UDP for the protocol, and 192.168.1.150 for the IP address. Make sure the entry is enabled and then save the setting. Next, you need to add an entry to the router’s Routing Table. This will enable the router to properly route requests from the clients to the TAP interface of the server. On the WRT54G you would go to the “Setup” page and then the “Advanced Routing” section. Enter the follwing info to make the entry: Enter Route Name: openVPN Destination LAN IP: 192.168.10.0 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.150 Interface: LAN & Wireless Once the info has been typed in make sure you save the setting. Can anyone possibly guide me through setting this part up with my Netgear router. I see that once I have these 2 parts complete I'm there so I would really appreciate someone walking me through what is required in completing this. Much appreciated.

  • Remotely connecting two non-local computers with sockets

    - by Velizar Hristov
This question seems like something very obvious to ask, and yet I spent more than an hour trying to find an answer. First I host and wait for someone to connect. Then, from another instance of the application, I try to connect with a socket - for the constructor, I use InetAddress, port. The port is always right, and everything works if I use "localhost" for the address. However, if I type my IP, I get an IOException. I even sent the application to someone else, gave him my IP, and it didn't work. The aim of the application is to connect two computers. It's in Java. Here is the relevant code. Server: ServerSocket serverSocket = new ServerSocket(port); Socket clientSocket = serverSocket.accept(); Client: InetAddress a = InetAddress.getByName(ip); Socket s = new Socket(a, port); I don't get past that. Obviously, the values of int port and String ip are taken from text fields. Edit: the purpose of my application is to connect two non-local computers.

  • Scala Tuple Deconstruction

    - by dbyrne
I am new to Scala, and ran across a small hiccup that has been annoying me. Initializing two vars in parallel works great: var (x,y) = (1,2) However I can't find a way to assign new values in parallel: (x,y) = (x+y,y-x) //invalid syntax I end up writing something like this: val xtmp = x+y; y = x-y; x = xtmp I realize writing functional code is one way of avoiding this, but there are certain situations where vars just make more sense. I have two questions: 1) Is there a better way of doing this? Am I missing something? 2) What is the reason for not allowing true parallel assignment?

  • Argc/Argv C Problems

    - by Salman
Hey all, If I have the following code: main(int argc, char *argv[]){ char serveradd[20]; strcpy(serveradd, argv[1]); int port = atoi(argv[2]); printf("%s %d \n", serveradd, port); The first two arguments to the command line are printed. However, if I do this: char serveradd[20]; strcpy(serveradd, argv[1]); int port = atoi(argv[2]); char versionnum[1]; strcpy(versionnum, argv[3]); printf("%s %d %s \n", serveradd, port, versionnum);` The first argument (serveradd) does not print out to the screen and is not being stored... Why is this happening and how can I fix it? Thanks!

  • how to bind/connect multiple UDP socket

    - by nicboul
My initial UDP socket is binded to 127.0.0.1:9898. The first time that I get notified of incoming data by epoll/kqueue, I do recvfrom() and I fill a struct sockaddr called peer_name that contain the peer informations (ip:port). Then I create a new UPD socket using socket(), then I bind() this newly created socket to the same ip:port (127.0.0.1:9898) than my original socket. then I connect my newly created socket using connect() to the peer who just sent me something. I have the information in the struct sockaddr called peer_name. I then add my newly created socket in my epoll/kqueue vector and wait for notification. I would expect to ONLY receive UDP frame from the peer i'm ""connected to"". 1/ does netstat -a -p udp is suppose to show me the IP:PORT of the peer my newly created socket is ""connected to"" ? 2/ I'm probably doing something wrong since after creating my new socket, this socket receive all incoming UDP packets destinated to the IP:PORT I'm binded to, regardless of the source peer IP:PORT. I would like to see a working example of what I'm trying to do :) or any hint on what I'm doing wrong. thanks!

  • What's the BPF for HTTP?

    - by Gtker
The definition can be seen here. The candidate answer may be tcp and dst port 80,but can tcp and dst port 80 guarantee it's HTTP traffic and includes all HTTP traffic? It seems not, because some site can be visited by specifying a different port other than 80 this way: http://domain.name:8080 So my question is: what's the exact BPF for HTTP?

  • Websphere 5.1 add SSL certificate

    - by Mikhail
Hi All. I have the following instruction: Import ++++ certificate (in order to allow SSL connections) – it is done in Administrative Console for the corresponding WAS profile (Security-SSL certificate and key management-Key stores and certificates-NodeDefaultTrustStore-Signer certificates). Here you can simply add the attached trkd_cert.cer (“Add” button) or get it from port (“Retrieve from port” button, host: ++++.com, port 443) But this is valid for Websphere 6.1. Do somebody know how this can be done in WebSphere 5.1?

  • Using xsl param (if exists) to replcae attribute value

    - by Assaf
I would like an xsl that replaces the value attribute of the data elements only if the relevant param names are passed. Input <applicationVariables applicationServer="tomcat"> <data name="HOST" value="localhost"/> <data name="PORT" value="8080"/> <data name="SIZE" value="1000"/> </applicationVariables> So for example if passing in a param HOST1=myHost and PORT=9080 the output should be: <applicationVariables applicationServer="tomcat"> <data name="HOST" value="myHost"/> <data name="PORT" value="9080"/> <data name="SIZE" value="1000"/> </applicationVariables> Note that HOST and PORT where replaced but SIZE was not replaced because there was no parameter with name SIZE Since the list of data elements is long (and may change), i would like a generic way of doing this with xsl
