    I have the a simple LinqToSQL statement that is not working. Something Like this: List<MyClass> myList = _ctx.DBList .Where(x => x.AGuidID == paramID) .Where(x => x.BBoolVal == false) .ToList(); I look at _ctx.DBList in the debugger and the second item fits both parameters. Is there a way I can dig into this more to see what is going wrong?

  • Localizing formatting functions instead of properties in VS.NET resources

    I noticed that .NET framework uses formatting functions, generated the same way localizable string are. There is a resource file Resources.resx with resource string TestString. So you may use it in code like this: string localizableValue = Resources.TestString; Now, imagine you need a formattable localizable string, to use it in string.Format function. So everytime you use it, you have to write something like this: string localizableFormattedValue = string.Format(Resources.TestFormatString, someParam1, someParam2); The observation says that in .NET framework generated resource classes already include the above construction. So instead of string property, a string function is generated. The resulting code looks like this: string localizableFormattedValue = Resources.TestFormatString(someParam1, someParam2); The question is - how do they do this? Is it some custom Microsoft feature (resx generator) or I'm missing something obvious?

  • Visual source safe headaches - Deleting files

    I will pre-empt and say we are stuck using VSS here so changing it is not an option. Anyway, one person, 'user a' is deleting a file from their project. They then do a 'get latest' on the folder and it doesn't come back, so the user assumes they have truely deleted it from the project. We have another user, 'user b', who then looks at 'pending checkins', sourcesafe will then do a scan of all the files in 'user b's project. It then wants to 're-add' all of the files user a deleted. This has caused a huge headache for the team. Any suggestions to stop this from happening again?

    Hello, some one know how can I manipulate on some configuration over all projects in solution? For example, I create new configuration "Releas64" that means: "No debug, 64 bit, all files goes to c:\binaries", but I need to go over all 30 projects in our solution for to set those settings for every project.   • How can I pass in specific parameters to mstest in Visual Studio

    I'm trying to modify my test projuect to allow for remote invocation of an api we're building. Right now the tests are hard coded to run locally(against localhost), but I would like to be able to point the tests at any endpoint (even remote ones in production). Ideally there would be a place in the .testsettings for config values to be stored. Sadly this isn't the case. Or, being able to pass parameters to MSTest that the test would read...? Any ideas?     I would like to write a simple program in c++. After the program is done i would like to get my answers in form of a graph or picture that would give some certain information if i click on a certain area. i have only written console apllications in c++ before and don't really have a clue where to start with the graphic part of it all. Can I write the first part of the program in console mode and some how run it under the WIN32 later? for ex what will happen to the cout<<"foo"; commands? Is there a simpler approach to do some very basic graphic programming.

    So I am having a very difficult time finding a solution to this problem. Is there any way that I can inherit macros from another project. For example, for the post build I would like to use the macro for the RemoteMachine address that is located in one project in all the other projects. I was thinking something like (ProjectContainingMacro.$RemoteMachine) ... does anyone have any suggestions?

    I'm making a game using C++ and DirectX and it'd be nice to share my groups progress with other people by providing a single executable file instead of having to run a setup wizard. I've checked my Release and Debug folders but those executable don't work. The release .exe is something like 21KB which doesn't seem right. So I guess what I'm asking is how to make a single executable with all of the libraries and resource files included.

    I have a class that contains a function that calls create thread, and needs to pass itself (this) as a parameter: DWORD threadId; HANDLE h = CreateThread( NULL, 0, runThread, this, 0, &threadId); My runThread definition is as follows: DWORD WINAPI runThread(LPVOID args) { Obj *t = (Obj*)args; t->funct(); return 0; } Unfortunately, the object t that I get in runThread() gets garbage. My Obj class has a function pointer attribute. Could that be the problem? class Obj{ void(*funct)(); and in the constructor: Obj(void(*f)()) { funct = f; } where is my mistake? The function pointer, the createThread itself, or type-casting? I tried whatever I could think of.

    Alright I'm currently lost on a particular assignment I have for a class. I've seen many examples of this app but none of them see to help my problem is as follows: Write a Sub procedure "DisplaySquare" to display the solid square. The size should be specified by the integer parameter "size". The character that fills the square should be specified by the string parameter "fillCharacter. Use a For...Next statement nested within another For...Next statement to create the square. The outer For...Next specifies what row is currently being displayed. The inner For...Next appends all the characters that form the row to a display string. So it should come out like as follows: if a user enters "8" and "#" ######## ######## ######## ######## ######## ######## ######## ######## Any help would be appreciated.

    Greetings. I'm trying to create a windows form application that manipulates data from several tables stored on a SQL server. 1) What's the best way to store the data locally, while the application is running? I had a previous program that only modified one table, and that was set up to use a datagridview. However, as I don't necessarily want to view all the tables, I am looking for another way to store the data retrieved by the SELECT * FROM ... query. 2) Is it better to load the tables, make changes within the C# application, and then update the modified tables at the end, or simply perform all operations on the database, remotely (retrieving the tables each time they are needed)?     When the deubgger is attached to a process on remote server - What locations are searched for the pdb? In what order? (e.g. is it searched on the remote server (debuggee) or on the local client (deubger)) When I use the deubgger to manually load pdb file from specific location - is the deubbger looking for the file locally or is it the remote debugger monitor looking for the file on the? Is there any article that describes that process?
