  • Dynamic authentication realms in Apache

    I have a front end server acting as a gateway proxy for many (a dynamic 'many') building monitors with embedded webservers. They are accessed with a URL like: http://www.example.com/monitor1/ http://www.example.com/monitor2/ ... I'm trying to restrict access to these monitors to only the users that own them. So what I need is a way of specifying rights to users or groups for specific directories. The standard auth mechanisms I see in Apache won't work because I need to specify every location. I'd prefer some dynamic map or script. Any suggestions?

  • C# Sql Connection Best Practises 2013

    With the new year approaching I'm drawing up a development plan for 2013. I won't bore you with the details but I started thinking about whether the way I do things is actually the 'correct' way. In particular how I'm interfacing with SQL. I create predominantly create WPF desktop applications and often some Silverlight Web Applications. All of my programs are very Data-Centric. When connecting to SQL from WPF I tend to use Stored Procedures stored on the server and fetch them using ADO.NET (e.g. SQLConnection(), .ExecuteQuery()). However with Silverlight I have a WCF service and use LINQ to SQL (and I'm using LINQ much more in WPF). My question is really is am I doing anything wrong in a sense that it's a little old fashioned? I've tried to look this up online but could find anything useful after about 2010 and of those half were 'LINQ is dead!' and the other 'Always use LINQ' Just want to make sure going forward I'm doing the right things the right way, or at least the advised way :). What principles are you using when connecting to SQL? Is it the same for WPF and Silverlight/WCF?

  • UITableView: Mixing static and dynamic cells

    I am trying to mix dynamic and static cells in a grouped table view: I would like to get two sections with static cells at the top followed by a section of dynamic cells (please refer to the screenshot below). I have set the table view contents to static cells. I designed the static cells in Interface Builder and gave them identifiers related to their section and row: "section0static0", "section0static1", "section1static0" and "section1static1". I named the dynamic cell "section2dynamic".     I have a web service which is queried using linq to sql but returns an array of objects. I keep getting the following error: System.Security.VerificationException: Operation could destabilize the runtime When I run a method that uses a linq statement to return an array I get this error, but only on my test server, which is windows server 2008. Everything works fine in my win 7 machine. The project is a .net 3.5. Any ideas what the problem might be? Thanks UPDATE: My linq queries return IQueryable.

    I am working with Moles and mocking a System.Data.Linq.Table. I got it constructing fine, but when I use it, it wants IQueryable.Provider to be mocked (moled) as well. I just want it to use normal Linq To Objects. Any idea what that would be?   • Access Edit Mode Values of BindingSource Control

    I have a BindingSource control (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.bindingsource.aspx) with a datasource of a (single) Linq object. If I change any of the properties of the underlying Linq-to-Sql object then all the other changes on the bound controls on the form are lost. Does anyone now why and how I work around it? I don't want to call EndEdit because this will commit the changes to the underlying object. I think this might be because my underlying object linq-to-sql object does not implement IEditableObject so the potental new values for the object fields are sort of stored in the forms controls. Can anyone either clarify what is going on and/or suggest a work around. Thanks!

  • Using LinqSql, stored procedure returns datatype image problem

    Hello! I´ve got a problem when using LINQ to execute a stored procedure and return its values. One of the column that the stored procedure returns is of datatype image and contains a pdf in binary form.(this because the database is deployed on sql server 2000, otherwised i would choose a blob) When including the stored procedure in my linq class its generates that my pdf columns is datatype int in the designer class. I´ve work around the problem and manually changed the datatype in representation of the stored procedure in the designer class. But when adding/removing items in the linq class the designer file re-generates and my changes are lost. Are there any better solution for my problem??

    I'm going to build a little system for personal use, and I want it to save data to a database. The language is going to be C#, and so I'd like to use this opportunity to get my head around LINQ to SQL. I have some DB experience and I know my SQL, but it was all in school using Access, which is giving me trouble, and so I'd like to use another DB, something that is small in size, easy to install, and should work with LINQ to SQL. The problem is: I don't know any except Access, and am looking for recommendations. To sum it up: I need a lightweight, easy to install, linq-to-sql supporting database for a small system on a home computer, any recommendations?

    Just wondering if there is a way to take some of the repitition out of a LINQ to SQL projected type. Example: Table: Address Fields: AddressID, HouseNumber, Street, City, State, Zip, +20 more Class MyAddress: AddressID, HouseNumber, Street (Only 3 fields) LINQ: from a in db.Addresses select new MyAddress { AddressID = a.AddressID, HouseNumber = a.HouseNumber, Street = a.Street } The above query works perfectly, and I understand why something like this will return all 20+ fields in each row: from a in db.Addresses select new MyAddress(a); class MyAddress { public MyAddress(Address a) { this.AddressID = a.AddressID, this.HouseNumber = a.HouseNumber, this.Street = a.Street } } Which leads me to my Question: Is it possible to implement some kind of helper function or extension method to "map" from the LINQ model to MyAddress yet only return the necessary fields in the query result rather than all of the fields?

An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) Am i missing some thing... Any suggestion....

  • How can I keep the the logic to translate a ViewModel's values to a Where clause to apply to a linq query out of My Controller?

    This same problem keeps cropping up. I have a viewModel that doesn't have any persistent backing. It is just a ViewModel to generate a search input form. I want to build a large where clause from the values the user entered. If the Action Accepts as a parameter SearchViewModel How do I do this without passing my viewModel to my service layer? Service shouldn't know about ViewModels right? Oh and if I serialize it, then it would be a big string and the key/values would be strongly typed. SearchViewModel this is just a snippet.     Hi, I am getting the following error: Error Message:The member 'Company.ProductCore.Core.Domain.Account.Email' has no supported translation to SQL.   • MVC more specified models should be populated by more precise query too?

    If you have a Car model with 20 or so properties (and several table joins) for a carDetail page then your LINQ to SQL query will be quite large. If you have a carListing page which uses under 5 properties (all from 1 table) then you use a CarSummary model. Should the CarSummary model be populated using the same query as the Car model? Or should you use a separate LINQ to SQL query which would be more precise? I am just thinking of performance but LINQ uses lazy loading anyway so I am wondering if this is an issue or not.

  • Can I make my drives visible and change their partition type without losing my data?

    I have made a lot of mistakes and now I cannot see my hard disk nor I can start my operating system on my laptop. All my passwords and important files on my hdd without any backup. I followed this course of action Changed my hard disk partitions to dynamic just for getting 5th partition. (1st mistake) Decreased partitions to 4 again. Backed up operating system from 4th to 3rd partition with Norton Ghost. Booted from a live CD for Windows XP. Formatted 4th partition and moved my all important data from 1st and 2nd partitions to the 4th partition. Deleted 1st and 2nd partitions and got 1 partition from half of empty space. So I have just 3 partitions and empty space between 1st and 2nd partitions. Tried to install Windows 8 to the first partition but it did not allow because it is dynamic. Also it did not allow to install to other partitions. Tried to install Windows XP to the 1st partition but it said if I continue I cannot use other drivers. Therefore I escaped from installing it. Booted from the Windows XP live CD then increased 1st partiton to less than 400mb of empty space. Therefore I thought it will be adjacent but it was shown as 2 partitions. In my computer I see just 3 drivers. Using Norton Ghost I recovered my OS to the 1st partition. (2nd mistake it was on 4th partition originally) Booted from a Windows XP live CD I tried to install bcdedit to the Windows XP live CD but it did not work. Then I tried to install EaseUS Partition Master Home Edition. It was installed with errors then I start it and it showed me an error like there is no hard disk. I looked to my PC and my drivers were not there. Booted from the Norton Ghost CD and it did not show me my drivers either, but before I was able to see them. I checked numbers of partition shown by the Norton Ghost utility and they are still have same numbers so I have to see my drivers but I cannot see them now. My hard disk is shown as extarnal dynamic now so I cannot see any drive in my PC in the live Windows XP. There are two options; first one is import extarnal disk and second one is convert disk to basic. Will they delete my data? I fear booting from CDs like Windows XP live CD, Norton Ghost CD, and the operating system CD/DVD, because they may overwrite a few MB their data to my data. These recover tools are already exist in Windows XP live CD by The Ultimate Boot CD for Windows. Can any of them help me?   • Firefox add-on development: Register global dynamic custom keyboard shortcuts

    I have been tasked with developing a Firefox add-on that is capable of registering global keyboard shortcuts (ones that will work throughout all areas of Firefox) that will open up the side-bar and execute an XMLRPC request based on previously recorded input. The idea here is that there will be many potential XMLRPC requests that the user will want to execute via a keyboard shortcut. Currently, the add-on is capable of handling pre-defined static keyboard shortcuts via the Firefox overlay. What I would like to achieve, is to allow the user to register their own dynamic custom keyboard shortcut. There is an add-on that currently has some of this functionality, called Keyconfig. I'm not keen on having to ask users to install a second add-on to define their own shortcuts. It also seems that using the dynamic keyboard shortcut registration method in Keyconfig would require the user to close all Firefox windows before the dynamic shortcut is made available. What I would like to know is: Is an XPCOM component the best way to register dynamic keyboard shortcuts from within a Firefox add-on? Is there a way to register the keyboard shortcut so that it is immediately available to all Firefox windows, without having to close the windows beforehand?

    I'm trying to configure Dynamic DNS client on my router with dd-wrt (v24-sp2) firmware so it would dynamically change IP address in one of the DNS records.     I needed to set-up a reverse DNS via cpanel. I followed the steps in this tutorial but it didn't work: http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/view/11_30/WHMDocs/RdnsForBind. I use my own name servers registered with go-daddy. But I am with VPS hosting company. I did use a new serial number and exactly as the tutorial however didnt seems to be working When I check this via windows nslookup {ip-address} I still get the my hosting company name, when reversed.

  • DNS servers not set properly? Site failing to load by hostname, though loads fine by IP

    We run www.tekiki.com. Some users, including us, cannot reach www.tekiki.com because of DNS issues. The site resolves fine on the desktop, but it fails from our iPhones and iPads. This doesn't happen to everyone. We noticed the problem yesterday, then set our DNS servers to Cloudflare's DNS servers, hoping that would fix things. Accessing the site by IP addr loads the site fine. Two questions: 1) Does anyone know what the solution is? 2) Should we use other DNS servers besides Cloudflare?

  • Creating PDF documents dynamically using Umbraco and XSL-FO part 2

    Since my last post I have made a few modifications to the PDF generation, the main one being that the files are now dynamically renamed so that they reflect the name of the case study instead of all being called PDF.PDF which was not a very helpful filename, I just wanted to get something live last week, so decided that something was better than nothing :)The issue with the filenames comes down to the way that the PDF's are being generated by using an alternative template in Umbraco, this means that all you need to do is add " /pdf " to the end of a case study URL and it will create a PDF version of the case study.   • PDF from Umbraco | Creating PDF case studies from data in the Umbraco CMS

    Last week we launched the first version of our website based on Umbraco 4.5.2 and this week we have just added a bit of extra functionality to the case studies section which enables you to download the case studies as PDF documents.To do this we used the PDF Creator package by Darren Ferguson, this is actually a wrapper around a product from a company called Ibex, which is where you can download documentation for the mark up required.The way Darren has made the implementation is really simple for anyone already familiar with the Umbraco CMS. You simple create a new template and call a Usercontrol macro, this then does the magic in the background and passes an XSLT file to the ibex engine.What you need to be aware of is that you need to learn a new mark up language called XSL-FO this is actually part of the XSL 1.0 specification and is a language used to express print layouts.As an indication of timescale, from knowing nothing about XSL-FO to the finished product that you can see on the website now has taken me 2 days of learning and just fiddling with the mark up to get the final result.If anyone is interested I might post some code snippets to show you how some of it is done, I would also be really interested to have some feedback about the PDF layout and what you like and don't like about it.Cheers,ChrisPosted using BlogPress from my iPad
