  • Why isn't the pathspec magic :(exclude) excluding the files I specify from git log's output?

    - by Jubobs
This is a follow-up to Ignore files in git log -p and is also related to Making 'git log' ignore changes for certain paths. I'm using Git 1.9.2. I'm trying to use the pathspec magic :(exclude) to specify that some patches should not be shown in the output of git log -p. However, patches that I want to exclude still show up in the output. Here is minimal working example that reproduces the situation: cd ~/Desktop mkdir test_exclude cd test_exclude git init mkdir testdir echo "my first cpp file" >testdir/test1.cpp echo "my first xml file" >testdir/test2.xml git add testdir/ git commit -m "added two test files" Now I want to show all patches in my history expect those corresponding to XML files in the testdir folder. Therefore, following VonC's answer, I run git log --patch -- . ":(exclude)testdir/*.xml" but the patch for my testdir/test2.xml file still shows up in the output: commit 37767da1ad4ad5a5c902dfa0c9b95351e8a3b0d9 Author: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Mon Aug 18 12:23:56 2014 +0100 added two test files diff --git a/testdir/test1.cpp b/testdir/test1.cpp new file mode 100644 index 0000000..3a721aa --- /dev/null +++ b/testdir/test1.cpp @@ -0,0 +1 @@ +my first cpp file diff --git a/testdir/test2.xml b/testdir/test2.xml new file mode 100644 index 0000000..8b7ce86 --- /dev/null +++ b/testdir/test2.xml @@ -0,0 +1 @@ +my first xml file What am I doing wrong? What should I do to tell git log -p not to show the patch associated with all XML files in my testdir folder?

  • Find user independent TEMP directory with Java

    - by GHad
Hi, when running a Java application as service with the user 'LocalService', the temp directory ("java.io.tmpdir") points to 'c:/windows/temp' (for example). Running a Java application normally gives 'c:/documents and settings/user/local settings/temp' instead. How can I determine the user independent temp folder 'c:/windows/temp' when my application runs normally? Thanks and greetings, GHad

  • iPhone to Java EE remoting

    - by Justin Simonelis
Hi there! I was looking for some opinions on the best remote method invocation practices when developing iPhone applications that communicate with Java (java EE) servers. Many iphone applications these days typically talk to a server back end. I typically prefer to write my servers in java using some Spring libraries. So far I have not found or stuck to a definitive practice for iphone-java server communication. What are some technical solutions and libraries that you have used to implement this kind of client-server communication? One thing I always keep in mind is that I want the communication protocols to be simple so that multiple platforms can be added for example, in future adding Android and possibly Blackberry clients, that can use the same protocol to talk to the server.

  • Java looping through array - Optimization

    - by oudouz
    I've got some Java code that runs quite the expected way, but it's taking some amount of time -some seconds- even if the job is just looping through an array. The input file is a Fasta file as shown in the image below. The file I'm using is 2.9Mo, and there are some other Fasta file that can take up to 20Mo. And in the code im trying to loop through it by bunches of threes, e.g: AGC TTT TCA ... etc The code has no functional sens for now but what I want is to append each Amino Acid to it's equivalent bunch of Bases. Example : AGC - Ser / CUG Leu / ... etc So what's wrong with the code ? and Is there any way to do it better ? Any optimization ? Looping through the whole String is taking some time, maybe just seconds, but need to find a better way to do it. import java.io.BufferedReader; import java.io.File; import java.io.FileNotFoundException; import java.io.FileReader; import java.io.IOException; public class fasta { public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { File fastaFile; FileReader fastaReader; BufferedReader fastaBuffer = null; StringBuilder fastaString = new StringBuilder(); try { fastaFile = new File("res/NC_017108.fna"); fastaReader = new FileReader(fastaFile); fastaBuffer = new BufferedReader(fastaReader); String fastaDescription = fastaBuffer.readLine(); String line = fastaBuffer.readLine(); while (line != null) { fastaString.append(line); line = fastaBuffer.readLine(); } System.out.println(fastaDescription); System.out.println(); String currentFastaAcid; for (int i = 0; i < fastaString.length(); i+=3) { currentFastaAcid = fastaString.toString().substring(i, i + 3); System.out.println(currentFastaAcid); } } catch (NullPointerException e) { System.out.println(e.getMessage()); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { System.out.println(e.getMessage()); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println(e.getMessage()); } finally { fastaBuffer.close(); } } }

  • Android SDK and Java

    - by Soonts
Android SDK Manager complains "WARNING: Java not found in your path". Instead of using the information from Windows registry, the software tries to search Java in the default installation folders, and fails (I don't install software in program files because I don't like space characters in my paths). Of course I know how to modify the %PATH% environment variable. The question is — which Java does it need? After installing the latest JDK, I’ve got 4 distinct versions of java.exe file, in the following 4 folders: system32, jre6\bin, jdk1.6.0_26\bin, and jdk1.6.0_26\jre\bin. Size ranges from 145184 to 171808. All of them print version “1.6.0_26” when launched with the “-version” argument. The one in system32 has .exe version “6.0.250.6”, the rest of them is “6.0.260.3”. All 4 files are different (I’ve calculated the MD5 checksums). Q1. Which folder should I add to %PATH% to make the Android SDK happy? Q2. Why does Oracle build that many variants of java.exe of the same version for the same platform? Thanks in advance! P.S. I'm using Windows 7 SP1 x64 home premium, and downloaded the 64-bit version of JDK, jdk-6u26-windows-x64.exe.

  • Specific path to java class file when embedded into HTML; Help urgent

    - by Jeevanism
This is a resonant post to one of my other query due to an error with Java applet embedded into CMS pages. well, I tell issue:- Problem:- I have a website using Concrete 5 CMS, in which I have a page that I have embedded a Java applet class. This applet should show the system information which this applet is working fine in simple single HTML pages. now whenever I access my plugin Test page which created in Concrete 5 CMS (this page I embedded this java applet), it shows a Java error. The error is says incompatible Magic Number. Observation:- After a lot of searching through various tech forums, I finally found that, the issue is happened because the browser cannot load Java class file. The class file path location is wrong. Here below I post the log of server access when I test in my local machine. 127.0.0.1 - - [20/Dec/2012:12:59:28 +0800] "GET /linuxhouse/index.php/techlab/java/testvm.class HTTP/1.1" 200 1896 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (Linux 2.6.37.6-0.9-desktop) Java/1.6.0_29" 127.0.0.1 - - [20/Dec/2012:12:59:29 +0800] "GET /linuxhouse/index.php/techlab/java/testvm.class HTTP/1.1" 200 1896 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (Linux 2.6.37.6-0.9-desktop) Java/1.6.0_29" <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Clearly, the path to Java class file is wrong. But I have no idea how to specify exact path in an embedded code. Is this a CMS specific issue. I have disabled Pretty URL feature of CMS. But still I cannot find the solution. here the referred Page that shows the java error. http://www.linux-house.net/v3/techlab/plugin pls pls give some insight..URGENT SOS

    - by Chris Hoffman
On Linux, the Root user is equivalent to the Administrator user on Windows. However, while Windows has long had a culture of average users logging in as Administrator, you shouldn’t log in as root on Linux. • Scanning the Error Log with PowerShell

    - by AllenMWhite
One of the most important things you can do as a DBA is to keep tabs on the errors reported in the error log, but there's a lot of information there and sometimes it's hard to find the 'good stuff'. You can open the errorlog file directly in a text editor and search for errors but that gets tedious, and string searches generally return just the lines with the error message numbers, and in the error log the real information you want is in the line after that. PowerShell 2.0 introduced a new cmdlet...(read more)
