• Getting all matches for a regexp on clojure

- by Deleteman
I'm trying to parse an HTML file and get all href's inside it. So far, the code I'm using is: (map #(println (str "Match: " %)) (re-find #"(?sm)href="([a-zA-Z.:/]+)"" str_response)) str_response being the string with the HTML code inside it. According to my basic understanding of Clojure, that code should print a list of matches, but so far, no luck. It doens't crash, but it doens't match anything either. I've tried using re-seq instead of re-find, but with no luck. Any help? Thanks!

• Regular expression - stop at first match

- by publicRavi
My pattern looks something like <xxxx location="file path/level1/level2" xxxx some="xxx"> I am only interested in the part in quotes assigned to location. Shouldn't it be as easy as below without the greedy switch? Does not seem to work :( /.*location="(.*)".*/

• How can I get the file extensions from relative links in HTML text using Perl?

- by Structure
For example, scanning the contents of an HTML page with a Perl regular expression, I want to match all file extensions but not TLD's in domain names. To do this I am making the assumption that all file extensions must be within double quotes. I came up with the following, and it is working, however, I am failing to figure out a way to exclude the TLDs in the domains. This will return "com", "net", etc. m/"[^<>]+\.([0-9A-Za-z]*)"/g Is it possible to negate the match if there is more than one period between the quotes that are separated by text? (ie: match foo.bar.com but not ./ or ../) Edit I am using $1 to return the value within parentheses.

• partial string matching - R

- by DonDyck
I need to write a query in R to match partial string in column names. I am looking for something similar to LIKE operator in SQL. For e.g, if I know beginning, middle or end part of the string I would write the query in format: LIKE 'beginning%middle%' in SQL and it would return matching strings. In pmatch or grep it seems I can only specify 'beginning' , 'end' and not the order. Is there any similar function in R that I am looking for? For example, say I am looking in the vector: y<- c("I am looking for a dog", "looking for a new dog", "a dog", "I am just looking") Lets say I want to write a query which picks "looking for a new dog" and I know start of the string is "looking" and end of string is "dog". If I do a grep("dog",y) it will return 1,2,3. Is there any way I can specify beginning and end in grep?

• What would be the most efficient way to do this search (mysql or text)?

- by alex
Suppose I have 500 rows of data, each with a paragraph of text (like this paragraph). That's it.I want to do a search that is not only based on words. (%LIKE%, not FULL_TEXT) What would be faster? SELECT * FROM ...WHERE LIKE "%query%"; This would put load on the database server. Select all. Then, go through each one and do .find = 0 This would put load on the web server. This is a website, and people will be searching frequently.

• How to search and validate plain texts (where it starts with http AND ends with .aspx) to be a valid hyperlink in a page body content?

- by syntaxcode
My web page content is populated by a plain text that is retrieved from a CDATA format - plain text data. This is the site http://checksite.apsx to get information. For more information, visit http://moresites.com/FAQ/index.html or search the site. Now, my goal is to convert this plain text to a valid hyperlinks. I've used a javascript code that does the conversion - /((http|https|ftp)://[^ ]+)/g; , but sometimes if there are multiple words, it captures an invalid URL. My question: Is there a way to strictly capture any string that starts with "http" AND ends with ".html" or "aspx" will be converted into a valid hyperlink? it should look like this - This is the site http://checksite.apsx to get information. - by Brut4lity
while($row = mysql_fetch_row($result)){ preg_match('#([^<]*)#',$row[1],$matches); $query2 = 'UPDATE content_pl SET kategoria_data='.$matches[1].' WHERE id='.$row[0].';'; mysql_query($query2); } I'm doing this preg_match to get the span contents into $matches array. When I do a print_r($matches), it shows the right results but when I use $matches[1], it browser tells me that there is no such index.

• Regular expression of unicode characters on string

- by Marcus King
I'm working in c# doing some OCR work and have extracted the text I need to work with. Now I need to parse a line using Regular Expressions. string checkNum; string routingNum; string accountNum; Regex regEx = new Regex(@"銈\d+銈"); Match match = regEx.Match(numbers); if (match.Success) checkNum = match.Value.Remove(0, 1).Remove(match.Value.Length - 1, 1); regEx = new Regex(@"銆\d{9}銆"); match = regEx.Match(numbers); if(match.Success) routingNum = match.Value.Remove(0, 1).Remove(match.Value.Length - 1, 1); regEx = new Regex(@"\d{10}銈"); match = regEx.Match(numbers); if (match.Success) accountNum = match.Value.Remove(match.Value.Length - 1, 1); The problem is that the string contains the necessary unicode characters when I do a .ToCharArray() and inspect the contents of the string, but it never seems to recognize the unicode characters when I parse the string looking for them. I thought strings in C# were unicode by default.

• Change Variable back to original value after Regex matching.

- by Brad Johansen
I just "finished" expanding my Palindrome Tester, made in C#. To allow for phrases I added a simple regex match for all non-alphanumeric characters. At the end of the program it states " is(n't) a palindrome." But now with the regex it prints the no spaces/punctuation version of it. I would like to be able to print the original user input. How do I do that? Here is my program: http://gist.github.com/384565

• Regular Expressions Reference Tables Updated

- by Jan Goyvaerts
The regular expressions reference on the Regular-Expressions.info website was completely overhauled with the big update of that site last month. In the past, the reference section consisted of two parts. One part was a summary of the regex features commonly found in Perl-style regex flavors with short descriptions and examples. This part of the reference ignored differences between regex flavors and omitted most features that don’t have wide support. The other part was a regular expression flavor comparison that listed many more regex features along with YES/no indicators for many regex flavors, but without any explanations of the features. When reworking the site, I wanted to make the reference section more detailed, with descriptions and examples of all the syntax supported by the flavors discussed on the site. Doing that resulted in a reference that lists many features that are only supported by a few regex flavors. For such a reference to be usable, it needs to indicate which flavors support each feature. My original design for the new reference table used two rows for each feature. The first row had 4 columns with a label, syntax, description, and example, similar to the old reference tables. The second row had 20 columns indicating which versions of which flavors support these features. While the double-row design allowed all the information to fit within the table without requiring horizontal scrolling, it made it more difficult to quickly scan the tables for the feature you’re looking for. To make the new reference tables easier to read, they now have only a single row for each feature. The first 4 columns are the same as before. The remaining two columns show which versions of two regular expression flavors support the feature. You can use the drop-down lists above the table to choose the flavors the table should indicate. The site uses cookies to allow the flavor choices to persist while you navigate the reference. The result of this latest update is that the new regex tables are now just as easy to read as the ten-year-old tables on the old site were, while still covering all the features big and small of all the flavors discussed on the site.

- by editor
I know this is teeball for veteran sysadmins, but I'm looking to search a directory tree for file contents that match a regex (here, the word "Keyword"). I've gotten that far, but now I'm having trouble ignoring files in a hidden (.svn) file tree. Here's what I'm working with: find . -exec grep "Keyword" '{}' \; -print Reading sites via search I know that I need to negate the name flag, but I can't it working in the right order.

• How do I remove &#13 ; from my text file using VBScript Replace() or a regex?

- by Eric Lachance
Hi! I'm doing a conversion between two software which both use XML so the actual conversion part is fairly straightforward - adding text here, removing others here, converting a few information. I'm using VBSCript WSH. The only issue I'm still having is the darn character - that's my problem! I've tried both strText = Replace(strText, "", "") and using a regex with Regex.pattern = "" ... neither works. I also tried replacing char(13), VBCR... nothing seems to detect the actual string itself and not the character it's creating. Can anyone help me?

• How can I set up a regex to rename files automatically for Atftp?

- by CE-SA
I've a question about the package named 'atftp'. I've got the atftp daemon finally working. Previously I was using tftp-hpa with a custom rule that replaces filenames with capitals into non-capital filenames and replaces the backslashes into forward slashes so that WinPE will boot fine. But in atftp I can't find rules or replacements like that. I'm searching for long, but cannot find or write the right pcre-pattern. Could you help me with this?
