  • Inlines in Django Admin

    - by Oli
I have two models, Order and UserProfile. Each Order has a ForeignKey to UserProfile, to associate it with that user. On the django admin page for each Order, I'd like to display the UserProfile associated with it, for easy processing of information. I have tried inlines: class UserInline(admin.TabularInline): model = UserProfile class ValuationRequestAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): list_display = ('address1', 'address2', 'town', 'date_added') list_filter = ('town', 'date_added') ordering = ('-date_updated',) inlines = [ UserInline, ] But it complains that UserProfile "has no ForeignKey to" Order - which it doesn't, it's the other way around. Is there a way to do what I want?

  • Django Admin: Many-to-Many listbox doesn't show up with a through parameter

    - by NP
    Hi All, I have the following models: class Message(models.Model): date = models.DateTimeField() user = models.ForeignKey(User) thread = models.ForeignKey('self', blank=True, null=True) ... class Forum(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=24) messages = models.ManyToManyField(Message, through="Message_forum", blank=True, null=True) ... class Message_forum(models.Model): message = models.ForeignKey(Message) forum = models.ForeignKey(Forum) status = models.IntegerField() position = models.IntegerField(blank=True, null=True) tags = models.ManyToManyField(Tag, blank=True, null=True) In the admin site, when I go to add/change a forum, I don't see the messages listbox as you'd expect. However, it shows up if I remove the 'through' parameter in the ManyToManyField declaration. What's up with that? I've registered all three models (plus Tag) to the admin site in admin.py. TIA

  • Can not login Magento admin page after move to my localhost

    - by Xinrui Ma
I just move my Magento store to my localhost environment for testing use, I also using Git to maintain code, but after I move all the files to my local environment, I can't login my admin page, but I can still see my frontend pages, and the git, the database, seems works well. When I type a wrong admin/password to my admin page, it still gives me "Invalid password". But when I enter the right one, it just refresh the page and stay at the login page, nothing happens. Does anyone has met this problem before? Has any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • Sorting related objects in the Django Admin form interface

    - by Carver
I am looking to sort the related objects that show up when editing an object using the admin form. So for example, I would like to take the following object: class Person(models.Model): first_name = models.CharField( ... ) last_name = models.CharField( ... ) hero = models.ForeignKey( 'self', null=True, blank=True ) and edit the first name, last name and hero using the admin interface. I want to sort the objects as they show up in the drop down by last name, first name (ascending). How do I do that? Context I'm using Django v1.1. I started by looking for help in the django admin docs, but didn't find the solution As you can see in the example, the foreign key is pointing to itself, but I expect it would be the same as pointing to a different model object. Bonus points for being able to filter the related objects, too (eg~ only allow selecting a hero with the same first name)

  • ASP.NET Routing not working on IIS 7.0

    - by Rick Strahl
I ran into a nasty little problem today when deploying an application using ASP.NET 4.0 Routing to my live server. The application and its Routing were working just fine on my dev machine (Windows 7 and IIS 7.5), but when I deployed (Windows 2008 R1 and IIS 7.0) Routing would just not work. Every time I hit a routed url IIS would just throw up a 404 error: This is an IIS error, not an ASP.NET error so this doesn’t actually come from ASP.NET’s routing engine but from IIS’s handling of expressionless URLs. Note that it’s clearly falling through all the way to the StaticFile handler which is the last handler to fire in the typical IIS handler list. In other words IIS is trying to parse the extension less URL and not firing it into ASP.NET but failing. As I mentioned on my local machine this all worked fine and to make sure local and live setups match I re-copied my Web.config, double checked handler mappings in IIS and re-copied the actual application assemblies to the server. It all looked exactly matched. However no workey on the server with IIS 7.0!!! Finally, totally by chance, I remembered the runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests attribute flag on the modules key in web.config and set it to true: <system.webServer> <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true"> <add name="ScriptCompressionModule" type="Westwind.Web.ScriptCompressionModule,Westwind.Web" /> </modules> </system.webServer> And lo and behold, Routing started working on the live server and IIS 7.0! This seems really obvious now of course, but the really tricky thing about this is that on IIS 7.5 this key is not necessary. So on my Windows 7 machine ASP.NET Routing was working just fine without the key set. However on IIS 7.0 on my live server the same missing setting was not working. On IIS 7.0 this key must be present or Routing will not work. Oddly on IIS 7.5 it appears that you can’t even turn off the behavior – setting runtAllManagedModuleForAllRequests="false" had no effect at all and Routing continued to work just fine even with the flag set to false, which is NOT what I would have expected. Kind of disappointing too that Windows Server 2008 (R1) can’t be upgraded to IIS 7.5. It sure seems like that should have been possible since the OS server core changes in R2 are pretty minor. For the future I really hope Microsoft will allow updating IIS versions without tying them explicitly to the OS. It looks like that with the release of IIS Express Microsoft has taken some steps to untie some of those tight OS links from IIS. Let’s hope that’s the case for the future – it sure is nice to run the same IIS version on dev and live boxes, but upgrading live servers is too big a deal to do just because an updated OS release came out. Moral of the story – never assume that your dev setup will work as is on the live setup. It took me forever to figure this out because I assumed that because my web.config on the local machine was fine and working and I copied all relevant web.config data to the server it can’t be the configuration settings. I was looking everywhere but in the .config file forever before getting desperate and remembering the flag when I accidentally checked the intellisense settings in the modules key. Never assume anything. The other moral is: Try to keep your dev machine and server OS’s in sync whenever possible. Maybe it’s time to upgrade to Windows Server 2008 R2 after all. • IP address spoofing using Source Routing

    - by iamrohitbanga
With IP options we can specify the route we want an IP packet to take while connecting to a server. If we know that a particular server provides some extra functionality based on the IP address can we not utilize this by spoofing an IP packet so that the source IP address is the privileged IP address and one of the hosts on the Source Routing is our own. So if the privileged IP address is x1 and server IP address is x2 and my own IP address is x3. I send a packet from x1 to x2 which is supposed to pass through x3. x1 does not actually send the packet. It is just that x2 thinks the packet came from x1 via x3. Now in response if x2 uses the same routing policy (as a matter of courtesy to x1) then all packets would be received by x3. Will the destination typically use the same IP address sequences as specified in the routing header so that packets coming from the server pass through my IP where I can get the required information? Can we not spoof a TCP connection in the above case? Is this attack used in practice?

  • Edit/show Primary Key in Django Admin

    - by emcee
It appears Django hides fields that are flagged Primary Key from being displayed/edited in the Django admin interface. Let's say I'd like to input data in which I may or may not want to specify a primary key. How would I go about displaying primary keys in Django-admin, and how could I make specifying it optional? Many thanks in advance, beloved hive-mind.

  • django admin site make CharField a PasswordInput

    - by Paul
I have a Django site in which the site admin inputs their Twitter Username/Password in order to use the Twitter API. The Model is set up like this: class TwitterUser(models.Model): screen_name = models.CharField(max_length=100) password = models.CharField(max_length=255) def __unicode__(self): return self.screen_name I need the Admin site to display the password field as a password input, but can't seem to figure out how to do it. I have tried using a ModelAdmin class, a ModelAdmin with a ModelForm, but can't seem to figure out how to make django display that form as a password input...

  • display one-to-many relationship for a model in Django admin (list mode)

    - by theactiveactor
In Django admin site, when listing all the objects for a given model, I know we can customize which columns get displayed for a ModelA via list_display Say that ModelA has a one-to-many relationship with ModelB. I would like to add another column on the listing page for ModelA, where each entry is a URL pointing to all objects of ModelB having a foreign key relationship on corresponding instance of Model A in that row. How can I achieve this customization with the admin app?

  • Django admins disappearing from the admin index

    - by btol45
We're running a Django website with rough 45 install Django admin classes. The handler is mod_fastcgi. Every once in a while about half the admins disappear from /admin/ screen. Touching the production.fcgi file restores everything to normal, but we have yet to determine the underling cause. Any thoughts on what the underlying issue might be?

  • Sinatra Routing Exceptions

    - by Ethan Turkeltaub
I want to be able to do the following: get '/:slug' do haml :page end get '/administration' do haml :admin end Is there a way that I can have get '/:slug' do have an exception for /administration? I realize you can do this with if else statements: get '/:slug' do if params[:slug] == 'administration' haml :admin else haml :page end end But that isn't very clean looking. Is there a way to have an exception to routes?

  • Foreign keys in django admin list display

    - by Olivier
If a django model contains a foreign key field, and if that field is shown in list mode, then it shows up as text, instead of displaying a link to the foreign object. Is it possible to automatically display all foreign keys as links instead of flat text? (of course it is possible to do that on a field by field basis, but is there a general method?) Example: class Author(models.Model): ... class Post(models.Model): author = models.ForeignKey(Author) Now I choose a ModelAdmin such that the author shows up in list mode: class PostAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): list_display = [..., 'author',...] Now in list mode, the author field will just use the __unicode__ method of the Author class to display the author. On the top of that I would like a link pointing to the url of the corresponding author in the admin site. Is that possible? Manual method: For the sake of completeness, I add the manual method. It would be to add a method author_link in the PostAdmin class: def author_link(self, item): return '<a href="../some/path/%d">%s</a>' % (item.id, unicode(item)) author_link.allow_tags = True That will work for that particular field but that is not what I want. I want a general method to achieve the same effect. (One of the problems is how to figure out automatically the path to an object in the django admin site.)

  • Google index vs asp.net url routing

    - by vani
I've made the change from querystring asp.net webforms application to an url routing one. Now I'm trying to let google know that there's a new set of urls to be aware of. The G has indexed 133 out of 179 new urls sent in sitemap.xml, but the site:mistral.hr command returns the old querystring version of the links. This could partly be so because I left the functionality of the old querystring version of the site(for backwards compatibility), and haven't done any 301 redirects(nor do I know how to achieve them in my shared hosting account). The old querystring and the new url routing both point to the same Default.aspx page.

  • Url encode and routing?

    - by Curtis White
I'm using custom routing in a web forms context. I have some titles (part of my custom route) that have say a question mark character. When I URL encode this text ("Question?") and then pass into my route, I get an HTTP ERROR CODE 400. Apparently, the URL encoded text is somehow confusing the routing manager. Can someone provide context and explanation for this? Beyond that, I'm thinking I don't need to URL encode these route data but merely strip out the problem characters. Are there any security risks to not using URL decode/encode? And what are the problem characters? A list would be useful. Thanks!

  • How do I flag only one of the formsets in django admin?

    - by azuer88
I have these (simplified) models: class Question(models.Model): question = models.CharField(max_length=60) class Choices(models.Model): question = models.ForeignKey(Question) text = models.CharField(max_length=60) is_correct = models.BooleanField(default=False) I've made Choices as an inline of Question (in admin). Is there a way to make sure that only one Choice will have is_correct = True? Ideally, is_correct will be displayed as a radio button when it is displayed in the admin formset (TabularInline). my admin.py has: from django.contrib import admin class OptionInline(admin.TabularInline): model = Option extra = 5 max_num = 5 class QuestionAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): inlines = [OptionInline, ] admin.site.register(QType) admin.site.register(Question, QuestionAdmin)

  • django admin: Add a "remove file" field for Image- or FileFields

    - by w-
I was hunting around the net for a way to easily allow users to blank out imagefield/filefields they have set in the admin. I found this http://www.djangosnippets.org/snippets/894/ What was really interesting to me here was the code posted in the comment by rfugger remove_the_file = forms.BooleanField(required=False) def save(self, *args, **kwargs): object = super(self.__class__, self).save(*args, **kwargs) if self.cleaned_data.get('remove_the_file'): object.the_file = '' return object When i try to use this in my own form I basically added this to my admin.py which already had a BlahAdmin class BlahModelForm(forms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = Blah remove_img01 = forms.BooleanField(required=False) def save(self, *args, **kwargs): object = super(self.__class__, self).save(*args, **kwargs) if self.cleaned_data.get('remove_img01'): object.img01 = '' return object when i run it I get this error maximum recursion depth exceeded while calling a Python object at this line object = super(self.__class__, self).save(*args, **kwargs) When i think about it for a bit, it seems obvious that it is just infinitely calling itself causing the error. My problem is i can't figure out what is the correct way i should be doing this. Any suggestions? thanks

  • Django ValueError at /admin/

    - by mjaz
Hello, I am running Django with mod_python on a Red Hat Linux box in production. A little while ago, for a reason unknown to me, the admin stopped working, throwing a 500 error. The error is as follows: ValueError at /admin/ Empty module name Request Method: GET Exception Type: ValueError Exception Value: Empty module name Exception Location: /usr/local/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/utils/importlib.py in import_module, line 35 Python Executable: /usr/bin/python Python Version: 2.6.2 Has anyone encountered this before? I have absolutely no idea how to fix this problem. Thank you for any help.
