• Two drop down lists in Ajax and MySQL

  I'm trying to learn some Ajax and MySQL... Basically, the code that I have right now is similar to: http://www.w3schools.com/PHP/php_ajax_database.asp I was wondering how should I modify those codes (both html, javascript and php) to create two drop down lists. The first drop list would be used for choosing the Lastname (eg. Swanson) and the second drop list would be used for choosing the Hometown (eg. Quahog). Then the user would click "Submit" button and the query would return the matching results (eg. all the Swansons living in Quahog). I'd be very thankful for all the ideas!

  Hi! Imagine we have to sources to be requested by ajax. I want to perform some actions when all callbacks are triggered. • JavaScript apparently waits for each AJAX call before sending another in a loop

Straight to the point: I have this javascript: for(item=1;item<5;item++) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.open("GET",'zzz.php', true); xmlhttp.send(); } And in PHP file something like this: usleep(5);die('ok'); Now the problem is javascript seems to be waiting for each ajax call to be completed before sending another one. So the first response gets back after approx. 5 seconds, next after 10 seconds and so on. That's a very simplified version of what I do, since the real script involves using cURL in PHP and jQuery as JS lib. But the problem remains the same. Why do responses come back in 5 second intervals?

• Alternative to iframe using AJAX

  Hello. I have a music player swf embedded on an html page. Is there any way to have the music continuously play, even when the different html pages are loaded? When a link is clicked, the page is refreshed, also restarting the swf(music). If the site was AJAX driven, this wouldn't be a problem, but all my pages are static. I suppose I could put the entire body in an iframe, but there has to be a better option. Any ideas?

Can I get a quick rundown of what is required? I have searched for simple examples, but find I am having difficulty understanding how to call it and pass the parameters required of the Web Service. The form submits correctly the first time but if you make any subsequent changes to the text in the form and then submit again then jquery does not pick up on the changes and posts the old data. • Reporting sanitized user input to the user via AJAX

  I am writing some code to give live feedback to the user on the validation of a form using AJAX. I have got it checking length and if the field is empty. Now I want it to sanitize the users input and if the sanatized input differs from the users original input then tell them which characters are not allowed. The code I have written so far works except some characters most notably a '£' symbol result in no response. I think it relates to json_encode and its encoding. • Fetch and load a whole page with AJAX

  I realize that it's generally not a good idea to do this but the reason why I want to is because it's a really heavy page and I want to show the user progress of the download and when it's done load the page. I can either do this with some kind of spinner but is it possible for me to show the actual progress? Can I see how much and what data has been downloaded? Let's say I use jQuery for the AJAX-request how do I do this? If you have other suggestions please feel free to suggest.

• asp.net drop down list viewstate issue after client side Ajax update

  In my aspx page I have drop down list that initialy in page load event loads up with list of values which is shown to client(drop down list "A") and in client side, depending on client selecion of another drop down list(drop down list "B") I have written a javascript to update drop down list "A" with corresponding values with Ajax behaviour(without full page postback). But when we post page to the server, in server side page load event shows initialy sent list of values for drop down list "A" but not the values that were loaded by Ajax calls due to ViewState not being updated correctly due to Ajax call. I could fix this easily with update panel but it increased Ajax request size to 44KB which is much higher than what currently is for hand made Ajax script I have written( 0.5KB) Is there special way of fixing this rather than using update panel?

  Hello everyone, I have a web service that I invoke from script but that does not need any information stored in cookies. Anytime I make a request to the service, the cookie is sent along with it. I understand that by default cookies are sent with HTTP request, but is there any way at all to overwrite that behavior and not send the cookie? • AJAX Problem - No response text in FireFox, but ok in IE

  Hi, I am making a simple AJAX call to an external site. It works ok in IE, but in Firefox, not response text is returned. I think it might have something to do with the response being "chunked", but I'm not sure. Any ideas?   I have long time task in controller action. I use delayed job for it. (Also in heroku it is good practice for perfomance - dyno must work for small time in each request) But my client need result of it work and users can wait on that task. It is more clear: no any addition models or records in it, simple view and js... I think about such way: On client run AJAX with very long timeout (5 min for example) Client make request to server as usual On controller in action1 def start_work (with delay work setup) i need NO any response to client After work performs (delay job finished) i need run new action2 with response to client Client recieve response after about 1-5 min It is possible?

I would like to access the properties of that div using javascript, which is impossible since that new text is not added to the DOM. My question is, how can i access that div using either raw javascript or frameworks (am somewhat familiar with jQuery) ? It may be useful to note that the div can be accessed using CSS. Thank you.

  I got this thing i'm trying to solve: I got a ListView created using Wicket ( 1.5 ) with a lot of elements and a scroll. When new items are available, the user is asked if he would like to refresh the list via a message backed by an AjaxLink: public void onClick(AjaxRequestTarget ajaxTarget) { /* do something ... */ ajaxTarget.addComponent(_list); } So on click the list gets reloaded and the scroll position is reset to zero. Is there any way i can call JavaScript before the list reloads the save the scroll position?   I have an array: myarr = []; I'm filling it with some values: myarray['name'] = "Me!"; Now I want to transform that array into a set of Key = Value pairs.
