  • Foreign key on table A --> B, AND foreign key on table B --> A. How is this done?

    - by unclaimedbaggage
    Hi, I have two tables - 'business' and 'business_contacts'. The business_contact table has a many-to-one relationship with the business table. Furthermore, each business has a 'primary contact' field - which I'd assume is a one-to-many relationship with the business_contacts table. The problem, of course, is that this creates a catch-22 for data insertion. Since neither field can be null, I can't insert a business_contact until I have a corresponding business, but I can't insert a business until I have a corresponding business_contact. If anyone could help me get my head around how mutual one-to-many relationships are supposed to be dealt with I'd be most appreciative. (Project being done in MySQL if it makes any difference)

  • Can you reuse a mysql result set in PHP?

    - by MarathonStudios
    I have a result set I pull from a large database: $result = mysql_query($sql); I loop through this recordset once to pull specific bits of data and get averages using while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)). Later in the page, I want to loop through this same recordset again and output everything - but because I used the recordset earlier, my second loop returns nothing. I finally hacked around this by looping through a second identical recordset ($result2 = mysql_query($sql);), but I hate to make the same SQL call twice. Any way I can loop through the same dataset multiple times?

  • how to use multiple $_name using extends Zend_Db_Table_Abstract in zend frame work.

    - by karthik
    we tried to give our tables(users,messages) like this in two different abstract classes but it is not working. This is included in a file childconnect1.php ,is there any relation between the file name(childconnect1.php) and the class(Application_Model_childconnect1). class Application_Model_childconnect1 extends Zend_Db_Table_Abstract { protected $_name = 'users'; public function loginvalidation($username,$pwd) { $row = $this->fetchRow('UserName = \'' . $username . '\'and UserPW = \''. $pwd . '\''); if (!$row) { $msg="invalid"; return $msg; } else { return $row->toArray(); } } } class Application_Model_childconnect2 extends Zend_Db_Table_Abstract { protected $_name = 'messages'; public function replymessage($message) { $data=array( 'MessageText'=>$message ); $this->insert($data); } }

  • What open source document-oriented database system is most mature for Windows usage?

    - by jdk
    After using relational databases as back-end storage all my Windows programming life (currently .NET), I want to experiment with a document-oriented database by this Wikipedia definition; it can be standalone or layered over an existing non-commercial database system. What open source document-oriented database solution would you recommend from your own experience and why? A nice to have would be a .NET provider. Admittedly this is somewhat subjective and potentially argumentative so keep it real folks and I'll do the same - also your answers will be invaluable to others looking into document-oriented databases for the first time on Windows. I'm sure the overall value of your answers will outweigh any biases. Thanks.

  • Zend_Db Enum Values [Closed]

    - by scopus
    I find this solution $metadata = $result->getTable()->info('metadata'); echo $metadata['Continent']['DATA_TYPE']; Hi, I want to get enum values in Zend_Db. My Code: $select = $this->select(); $result = $select->fetchAll(); print_r($result->getTable()); Output: Example Object ( [_name] => country [query] => Zend_Db_Table_Select Object ( [_info:protected] => Array ( [schema] => [name] => country [cols] => Array ( [0] => Code [1] => Continent ) [primary] => Array ( [1] => Code ) [metadata] => Array ( [Continent] => Array ( [SCHEMA_NAME] => [TABLE_NAME] => country [COLUMN_NAME] => Continent [COLUMN_POSITION] => 3 [DATA_TYPE] => enum('Asia','Europe','North America','Africa','Oceania','Antarctica','South America') [DEFAULT] => Asia [NULLABLE] => [LENGTH] => [SCALE] => [PRECISION] => [UNSIGNED] => [PRIMARY] => [PRIMARY_POSITION] => [IDENTITY] => ) I see enum values in data_type but i don't get this values. How can get data_type?

  • How does Zend_Db_Table_Select work?

    - by jwhat
    I'm trying to figure out how to use Zend_Db_Table_Abstract correctly. I want to return just the name column from my query. Can you please explain what's wrong with the following code? class Model_DbTable_Foo extends Zend_Db_Table_Abstract { protected $_name = 'foo'; public function getFooById($id) { $select = $this->select(true)->columns('name')->where('id=' . $id); $row = $this->fetchRow($select); print_r($row->toArray()); } }

  • php foreach looping twice

    - by Jack
    Hi, I am trying to loop through some data from my database but it is outputting it twice. $fields = 'field1, field2, field3, field4'; $idFields = 'id_field1, id_field2, id_field3, id_field4'; $tables = 'table1, table2, table3, table4'; $table = explode(', ', $tables); $field = explode(', ', $fields); $id = explode(', ', $idFields); $str = 'Egg'; $i=1; while ($i<4) { $f = $field[$i]; $idd = $id[$i]; $sql = $writeConn->select()->from($table[$i], array($f, $idd))->where($f . " LIKE ?", '%' . $str . '%'); $string = '<a title="' . $str . '" href="' . $currentProductUrl . '">' . $str . '</a>'; $result = $writeConn->fetchAssoc($sql); foreach ($result as $row) { echo 'Success! Found ' . $str . ' in ' . $f . '. ID: ' . $row[$idd] . '.<br>'; } $i++; } Outputting: Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: 5. Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: 5. Could someone please explain why it is looping through both the indexed and associative values? UPDATE I did some more playing around and tried the following. $fields = 'field1, field2, field3, field4'; $idFields = 'id_field1, id_field2, id_field3, id_field4'; $tables = 'table1, table2, table3, table4'; $table = explode(', ', $tables); $field = explode(', ', $fields); $id = explode(', ', $idFields); $str = 'Egg'; $i=1; while ($i<4) { $f = $field[$i]; $idd = $id[$i]; $sql = $writeConn->select()->from($table[$i], array($f, $idd))->where($f . " LIKE ?", '%' . $str . '%'); $string = '<a title="' . $str . '" href="' . $currentProductUrl . '">' . $str . '</a>'; $sth = $writeConn->prepare($sql); $sth->execute(); $result = $sth->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); foreach ($result as $row) { echo 'Success! Found ' . $str . ' in ' . $f . '. ID: ' . $row[$idd] . '.<br>'; } $i++; } The interesting thing is that this outputs the below: Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: E. Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: E. Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: 5. Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: 5. Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: E. Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: E. Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: 5. Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: 5. I have also tried adding $i to the output and this outputs 2 as expected. If I change fetch(PDO::FETCH_BOTH) to fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC) the output is as follows: Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: E. Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: E. Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: 5. Success! Found Egg in field3. ID: 5. This has been bugging me for too long, so if anyone could help I would be very appreciative!

  • Connect Android application to remote data

    - by tadywankenobi
    Sheesh talk about limited information! I'm trying to get my Android application to connect to an online database to access information. There's quite a bit of info including geotags and these are going to be mapped on my app. The developer site has the very informative piece of information: You can use the network (when it's available) to store and retrieve data on your own web-based services. To do network operations, use classes in the following packages: java.net.* android.net.* Like I said in my previous question, I'm still very much an android newbie, and trying to remember my java oop from college is slow. Does anyone have an example of how this might work, or how I could implement it? I wouldn't mind even connecting to a local xml file, if I could find a good example of how to do that!? Am I just looking in all the wrong places?! Help. Please! T

  • [Zend Framework] How to format Zend_db Rowset output?

    - by rasouza
    I have a model which is referenced to a table registries extending Zend_Db and some methods which bascially uses fetchAll() all the time. What happens is: my table has a DATE field and I'd like it to output already formated when I call $row-reg_date. Is it possible by doing something in the model or do I have to manually format?

  • Zend Database Adapter - Complex MySQL Query

    - by Sonny
    I have defined a function in my Navigation model that executes a query, and I was wondering if there's a more "Zendy" way of generating/executing the query. The query I'm using was proposed by Bill Karwin on another thread here for setting arbitrary record order. I tried using a prepared statement, but the values in the SIGN() function got quoted. I'm using the PDO adapter for MySQL. /** * */ public function setPosition($parentId, $oldPosition, $newPosition) { $parentId = intval($parentId); $oldPosition = intval($oldPosition); $newPosition = intval($newPosition); $this->getAdapter()->query(" UPDATE `navigation` SET `position` = CASE `position` WHEN $oldPosition THEN $newPosition ELSE `position` + SIGN($oldPosition - $newPosition) END WHERE `parent_id` = $parentId AND `position` BETWEEN LEAST($oldPosition, $newPosition) AND GREATEST($oldPosition, $newPosition) "); return $this; }

  • JPA and hibernate for Flex

    - by dejaninic
    I'm using JPA but I'm not sure how to use it for relation between two classes. I need to connect them @OneToMany. I have done this before but forgot. Is there any good tutorial for this or an example that is easy to understand. By the way this is a Flex application where I'm using BlazeDS for connection between Java and Flex.

  • How to represent a 3-way relation with JPA?

    - by simpatico
    A user may have several labels, and links. Then, a user associates a label (or more) to a link. How does one represent the later relationship? A solution could be a many-to-many relationship btw user and link with the optional attribute label. http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Java_Persistence/ManyToMany#Mapping_a_Join_Table_with_Additional_Columns In this case the relationship btw user and label may better be 'virtual'. Any alternative I'm not seeing? PS: I've used google bookmarks terminology, as it matches my case quite well.

  • How to format dates in Jahia 6 CMS?

    - by dpb
    I am helping a friend of mine put up a site for his business. I’ve read different posts and sites trying to find the ideal CMS tool, but people have different views of what is the best, so I finally just picked one of them at random. So I went for an evaluation of Jahia 6.0-CE. As you’ve probably guessed by now, I don’t have so much experience with CMS tools. I just want to setup the CMS, write the templates for the site and let my friend manage the content from there on. So I extracted the sources from SVN and went for a test drive. I managed to create some simple templates to get a hang of things but now I have an issue with a date format. In my definitions.cnd I declared the field like so: date myDateField (datetimepicker[format='dd.MM.yyyy']) This is formatted in the page and the selector also presents this in the dd.MM.yyyy format when inserting the content. But how about sites in other countries, countries that represent the date as MM.dd.yyyy for example? If I specify the format in the CND, hard coded, how can I change this later on so that it adapts based on the browser’s language? Do I extract the content from the repository and format it by hand in the JSP template based on a Locale, or is there a better way? Thank you.

  • How to find the entity with the greatest primary key?

    - by simpatico
    I've an entity LearningUnit that has an int primary key. Actually, it has nothing more. Entity Concept has the following relationship with it: @ManyToOne @Size(min=1,max=7) private LearningUnit learningUnit; In a constructor of Concept I need to retrieve the LearningUnit with the greatest primary key. If no LearningUnit exists yet I instantiate one. I then set this.learningUnit to the retrieved/instantied. Finally, I call the empty constructor of Concept in a try-catch block, to have the entitymanager do the cardinality check. If an exception is thrown (I expect one in the case that already another 7 Concepts are referring to the same LearningUnit. In that case, I case instantiate a new LearningUnit with a new greater primary key. Please, also point out, if any, clear pitfalls in my outlined algorithm above.

  • Extended Zend_Db_Table_Row_Abstract does not return values

    - by WesleyE
    Hi, I'm quite new to Zend and the database classes from it. I'm having problems mapping a Zend_Db_Table_Row_Abstract to my rows. The problem is that whenever I try to map it to a class (Job) that extends the Zend_Db_Table_Row_Abstract class, the database data is not receivable anymore. I'm not getting any errors, trying to get data simply returns null. Here is my code so far: Jobs: class Jobs extends Zend_Db_Table_Abstract { protected $_name = 'jobs'; protected $_rowsetClass = "Job"; public function getActiveJobs() { $select = $this->select()->where('jobs.jobDateOpen < UNIX_TIMESTAMP()')->limit(15,0); $rows = $this->fetchAll($select); return $rows; } } Job: class Job extends Zend_Db_Table_Row_Abstract { public function getCompanyName() { //Gets the companyName for this row (Is on another table), just for example } } Controller: $oJobs = new Jobs(); $aActiveJobs = $oJobs->getActiveJobs(); foreach ($aActiveJobs as $value) { var_dump($value->jobTitle); } When I remove the "protected $_rowsetClass = "Job";" line, so that the table row is not mapped to my own class, I get all the jobTitles perfectly. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks in advance, Wesley

  • How can I use a pre-populated core data DB on my device.

    - by KingAndrew
    Hi all, I have developed my app using core data. It works fine in the simulator. When I deploy it to the device the DB is empty. It is 49k where it should be 484k. Basically it is not populated. Since I don't write to the DB when the app is running I need to provide a populated DB to the App. So I copied the populated DB from the simulator to resources and then deploy. Still no luck. the populated DB is in MyApp.app and the AppDelegate is reading from the Documents directory. How do I either get it in the documents directory or get the app delegate to look in the app? Thanks in advance, Andrew

  • jquery tabs - load url in current tab?

    - by BigDogsBarking
    I'm trying to figure out how to load the url each tab links to inside the tab area onclick, and have been trying to following the docs at http://docs.jquery.com/UI/Tabs#...open_links_in_the_current_tab_instead_of_leaving_the_page, but am clearly not getting it.... This is the HTML markup: <div class="tabs"> <ul class="tabNav"> <li><a href="/1.html#tabone">Tab One</a></li> <li><a href="/2.html#tabtwo">Tab Two</a></li> <li><a href="/3.html#tabthree">Tab Three</a></li> </ul> </div> <div id="tabone"> <!-- Trying to load content from 1.html in this div on click --> </div> <div id="tabtwo"> <!-- Trying to load content from 2.html in this div on click --> </div> <div id="tabthree"> <!-- Trying to load content from 3.html in this div on click --> </div> And this is the jquery I'm trying to use: $(".tabs").tabs({ load: function(event, ui) { $('a', ui.panel).click(function() { $(ui.panel).load(this.href); return false; }); } }); I know I've got some part of this wrong.... I've gone through several iterations (too many to post), and all I get is a blank div... I don't know... Feeling a bit confused here... Help?

  • Look up values in a BDB for several files in parallel

    - by biznez
    What is the most efficient way to look up values in a BDB for several files in parallel? If I had a Perl script which did this for one file at a time, would forking/running the process in background with the ampersand in Linux work? How might Hadoop be used to solve this problem? Would threading be another solution?

  • How to test if table was updated in Zend Framework?

    - by AD
    When user opens a form to modify a record, but instead of changing information, he just clicks the Update button. Which causes the update() function to return 0. However, I consider this case a valid update task. How would I test it, so I can assign a success message? Is update() returns -1 when SQL query failed or also 0? Method: Zend_Db_Table_Abstract::update() Any ideas? Thanks

  • AppEngine: Can I write a Dynamic property (db.Expando) with a name chosen at runtime?

    - by MarcoB
    If I have an entity derived from db.Expando I can write Dynamic property by just assigning a value to a new property, e.g. "y" in this example: class MyEntity(db.Expando): x = db.IntegerProperty() my_entity = MyEntity(x=1) my_entity.y = 2 But suppose I have the name of the dynamic property in a variable... how can I (1) read and write to it, and (2) check if the Dynamic variable exists in the entity's instance? e.g. class MyEntity(db.Expando): x = db.IntegerProperty() my_entity = MyEntity(x=1) # choose a var name: var_name = "z" # assign a value to the Dynamic variable whose name is in var_name: my_entity.property_by_name[var_name] = 2 # also, check if such a property esists if my_entity.property_exists(var_name): # read the value of the Dynamic property whose name is in var_name print my_entity.property_by_name[var_name] Thanks...
