  • How do I set a property in python using its string name

    - by dave
Hey, here's a dumb question: how can I set an object property given its name in a string. I have a dictionary being passed to me and I wish to transfer its values into namesake properties using code like this: for entry in src_dict: if entry.startswith('can_'): tgt_obj[entry] = src_dict_profile[entry] I'm still a bit of a noob with Python so would appreciate some help. - dave.

  • PHP PowerPoint with kohana 3 got encoding errors

    - by Jabeen
I have just downloaded the fresh copy of phppowerpoint and added the following line of code 'phppowerpoint' = MODPATH.'phppowerpoint', and now my page got blank and I got the following error: The character encoding of the HTML document was not declared. The document will render with garbled text in some browser configurations if the document contains characters from outside the US-ASCII range. The character encoding of the page must to be declared in the document or in the transfer protocol. Any thoughts? Thanks.

  • php $_SESSION[document_root] too far down the tree

    - by Idealflip
Hi, I have multiple sub-domains within the document_root. And multiple folders/classes within those sub-domain folders. I need something that will help me with my include_once paths, but $_SESSION[DOCUMENT_ROOT] goes too far down. And if I were to use this, and transfer the website folder later, all my include_once paths will/might break. Hope my question is clear... Any recommendations?

  • Java Flow Control Problem

    - by Kyle_Solo
I am programming a simple 2d game engine. I've decided how I'd like the engine to function: it will be composed of objects containing "events" that my main game loop will trigger when appropriate. A little more about the structure: Every GameObject has an updateEvent method. objectList is a list of all the objects that will receive update events. Only objects on this list have their updateEvent method called by the game loop. I’m trying to implement this method in the GameObject class (This specification is what I’d like the method to achieve): /** * This method removes a GameObject from objectList. The GameObject * should immediately stop executing code, that is, absolutely no more * code inside update events will be executed for the removed game object. * If necessary, control should transfer to the game loop. * @param go The GameObject to be removed */ public void remove(GameObject go) So if an object tries to remove itself inside of an update event, control should transfer back to the game engine: public void updateEvent() { //object's update event remove(this); System.out.println("Should never reach here!"); } Here’s what I have so far. It works, but the more I read about using exceptions for flow control the less I like it, so I want to see if there are alternatives. Remove Method public void remove(GameObject go) { //add to removedList //flag as removed //throw an exception if removing self from inside an updateEvent } Game Loop for(GameObject go : objectList) { try { if (!go.removed) { go.updateEvent(); } else { //object is scheduled to be removed, do nothing } } catch(ObjectRemovedException e) { //control has been transferred back to the game loop //no need to do anything here } } // now remove the objects that are in removedList from objectList 2 questions: Am I correct in assuming that the only way to implement the stop-right-away part of the remove method as described above is by throwing a custom exception and catching it in the game loop? (I know, using exceptions for flow control is like goto, which is bad. I just can’t think of another way to do what I want!) For the removal from the list itself, it is possible for one object to remove one that is farther down on the list. Currently I’m checking a removed flag before executing any code, and at the end of each pass removing the objects to avoid concurrent modification. Is there a better, preferably instant/non-polling way to do this?

  • WSDL vs DLL. Which is better?

    - by Lopper
I would like to create a reusable interface to transfer some proprietary information over the TCP/IP connection. If given only the choice of either WSDL or DLL, what are the pros and cons of using each? This is assuming that Windows OS is used.

  • phpDocumentor to wiki?

    - by Mike
My company is working on end user/developer docs using mediawiki. I'd like to take a lot of the API docs that phpdoc spit out (for specific functions/methods) and have it in wiki markup for easy transfer. Any solutions out there for getting wiki markup or wiki output from phpDoc? I've looked around and found nothing.

  • PHP problems when transfering code from Windows to OS X

    - by Makka95
I have recently bought a new MacBook Pro. Before I had my MacBook Pro I was working on a website on my desktop computer. And now I want to transfer this code to my new MacBook Pro. The problem is that when I transfered the code (I put it on Dropbox and simply downloaded it on my MacBook Pro) I started to see lots of error messages in my PHP code. The error message I”m receiving is: Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /some/file.php:1) in /some/file.php on line 23 I have done some research on this and it seems that this error is most frequently caused by a new line, simple whitespace or any output before the <?php sign. I have looked through all the places where I have cookies that are being sent in the HTTP request and also where I'm using the header() function. I haven’t detected any output or whitespace that possibly could interfere and cause this problem. Noteworthy is that the error always says that the output is started at line 1. Which got me thinking if there is some kind of coding differences in the way that the Mac OS X and Windows operating systems handle new lines or white spaces? Or could the Dropbox transfer messed something up? The code on one of the sites(login.php) which produces the error: <?php include "mysql_database.php"; login(); $id = $_SESSION['Loggedin']; setcookie("login", $id, (time()+60*60*24*30)); header('Location: ' . $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']); ?> login function: function login() { $connection = connecttodatabase(); $pass = ""; $user = ""; $query = ""; if (isset($_POST['user']) && $_POST['user'] != null) { $user = $_POST['user']; if (isset($_POST['pass']) && $_POST['pass'] != null) { $pass = md5($_POST['pass']); $query = "SELECT ID FROM Anvandare WHERE Nickname='$user' AND Password ='$pass'"; } } if ($query != "") { $id = $connection->query($query); $id = mysqli_fetch_assoc($id); $id = $id['ID']; $_SESSION['Loggedin'] = $id; } closeconnection($connection); } Complete error: Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /Users/name/GitHub/website/login.php:1) in /Users/namn/GitHub/website/login.php on line 9

  • Is there a way to enable both session and streaming in netTcpBinding?

    - by DxCK
Hi I writing a WCF Service that need transfer large files, so i using streaming, but from the other hand i need to do username specific initializations. The problem is that getting the username and perform initialization every time is very expensive. If i could turn on session, i could just save initialized data in local variables in the service instance. Is there a way to turn on both streaming and session in netTcpBinding?

  • Prevent Apache from chunking gzipped content

    - by Bear
When using mod_deflate in Apache2, Apache will chunk gzipped content, setting the Transfer-encoding: chunked header. While this results in a faster download time, I cannot display a progress bar. If I handle the compression myself in PHP, I can gzip it completely first and set the Content-length header, so that I can display a progress bar to the user. Is there any way to change Apache's behavior, and have Apache set a Content-length header instead of chunking the response, so that I don't have to handle the compression myself?

  • Is learning ed worth it to boost my speed in VIM?

    - by Ksiresh
I've learned the basic/intermediate levels of VIM ( it's to vast to list ). I often find that I slip back to my old ways and start using the mouse, holding down keys to get somewhere, and doing other stupid things that could be spead up. Would it be worth spending time to learn ed to break the habits learned from years in Windoze? Does using ed cultivate the right type of thinking that will transfer to VIM???

  • Speeding up Math calculations in Java

    - by Simon
I have a neural network written in Java which uses a sigmoid transfer function defined as follows: private static double sigmoid(double x) { return 1 / (1 + Math.exp(-x)); } and this is called many times during training and computation using the network. Is there any way of speeding this up? It's not that it's slow, it's just that it is used a lot, so a small optimisation here would be a big overall gain.
