  • My $query->fetch() doesn't work

    - by Tae
    Question edited following the comments. It still doesn't work. Hi there, I'm trying to learn how PDO works, but my script: $database = new PDO('mysql:host=localhost;dbname=***', '***', '***'); $query = $database->prepare("SELECT nombre, tecnica, tamanno, estado FROM obra WHERE anno = ?"); $query->execute(array('2009')); while ($item = $query->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)) { $item['nombre']; } Prints nothing. If I do: var_dump($query->fetch()) I get bool(false). After reading lots of examples I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Thanks in advance.

  • Data binding directly to a store query (DbSet, DbQuery, DbSqlQuery) is not supported.

    - by Chandradev
    HiI was doing some test with code first approach in EF. Then while populating the Gridview i was getting error like thisData binding directly to a store query (DbSet, DbQuery, DbSqlQuery) is not supported. Instead populate a DbSet with data, for example by calling Load on the DbSet, and then bind to local data. For WPF bind to DbSet.Local. For WinForms bind to DbSet.Local.ToBindingList().For solving this error we have to write the code like this private void FillGrid()        {            using (var Context = new EmpDatabaseContext())            {                var query = Context.Emps.Select(m => m);                //var query = from m in Context.Emps                //            select m;               // Gridview1.DataSource = query;                Gridview1.DataSource = query.ToList();                Gridview1.DataBind();            }        }  We canot bind Iqueryable directly. We have to change into ToList()

  • Error 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query when executing CHECK TABLE FOR UPGRADE

    - by Dean Richardson
    I just upgraded Ubuntu from 11.10 to 12.04. My rails app now returns the (passenger) error "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111) (Mysql2::Error)". I get a similar error when I try to access mysql at the command line on my Ubuntu server using mysql -u root -p. I have mysql-server 5.5 installed. I've checked and mysql is not running. When I try to restart it, it fails. Here are some key lines from the tail of /var/log/syslog after an attempted restart: dean@dgwjasonfried:/etc/mysql$ tail -f /var/log/syslog Mar 7 08:55:27 dgwjasonfried /etc/mysql/debian-start[5107]: Looking for 'mysqlcheck' as: /usr/bin/mysqlcheck Mar 7 08:55:27 dgwjasonfried /etc/mysql/debian-start[5107]: Running 'mysqlcheck' with connection arguments: '--port=3306' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' '--host=localhost' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' '--host=localhost' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' Mar 7 08:55:27 dgwjasonfried /etc/mysql/debian-start[5107]: Running 'mysqlcheck' with connection arguments: '--port=3306' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' '--host=localhost' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' '--host=localhost' '--socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' Mar 7 08:55:27 dgwjasonfried /etc/mysql/debian-start[5107]: /usr/bin/mysqlcheck: Got error: 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query when executing 'CHECK TABLE ... I reviewed the related questions here and attempted some of the fixes offered but to no avail. Thanks! Dean Richardson Update: Thanks to quanta's suggestion, I looked at the /var/log/mysql/error.log file. I found error messages relating to pointers, fatal signals, and more stuff that I really couldn't make much sense of. I also found mysql man page references, however. One suggested that I try starting mysqld with the --innodb_force_recovery=# option, then attempt to dump (or drop) the offending/corrupted database or table. I worked through the escalating option levels one-by-one (innodb_force_recovery=1, innodb_force_recovery=2, etc.) This allowed me to successfully run mysql -u root -p from the command line and execute several commands. I was able to run queries on my production database, but any attempt to query, dump, or even drop my development database raised an error and led to me losing the connection to mysql. So I've made progress, but until I'm somehow able to drop or repair my development db I'm still unable to get my app to load. Any further advice or suggestions? Thanks! Dean Update: Right after running sudo mysqld --innodb_force_recover=1 from the command line, the error.log contains this: Right after retrying sudo mysqld --innodb_force_recover=1, The error.log file shows this: 130308 4:55:39 [Note] Plugin 'FEDERATED' is disabled. 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: The InnoDB memory heap is disabled 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: Mutexes and rw_locks use GCC atomic builtins 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: Compressed tables use zlib 1.2.3.4 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: Initializing buffer pool, size = 128.0M 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: Completed initialization of buffer pool 130308 4:55:39 InnoDB: highest supported file format is Barracuda. • slow query logging in mysql server

    - by Vinayak Mahadevan
    Hi I have installed MySQL Community Edition 5.1.41 on a windows 2000 server. In my.ini file I have enabled slow query logging and have redirected the output to a table.I have set the long_query_time to 10 seconds. Then after running some queries I checked up the slow query log table and found that all the queries which were executed have been logged and a file called database-slow.log has also been created in the data folder. Can anybody please tell me where I am going wrong. I am using the inbuilt innodb and not activated the innodb plugin. Thanks

  • Using a redirect of any form to remove a query string with Apache

    - by Bart B
    Because of the silly way iTunes works the only way to update the URL for a feed is by setting up a permanent redirect from the old feed to the new. This seems easy, but I've hit a snag. The old URL ended in /?feed=rss2, the new URL is just a file, so it ends in podcast.xml. When I redirected from the old URL to the new, iTunes picked up the new URL BUT, WITH the query string, so now the URL ends in podcast.xml?feed=rss2. This is allowing listers to download the show - which is good, but causing some other problems. Is there any possible way to set up a permanent redirect that will redired podcast.xml?feed=rss2 to just podcast.xml? Mod_Rewrite seems to just pass through query strings, so I'm at a loss! Bart.

  • Specify Credentials to run Powershell Script to Query AD

    - by Ben
    I want to run a powershell script to query AD from a machine that is NOT on the domain. Basically I want to query to see if there is computer account already on the domain for this machine and create it if there is not. Because this has to happen before the machine joins the domain I assume I will need to specify some credentials to enable it to run. (I'm pretty new to Powershell, so apologies if this is a newbie question!) The script I am using to check the account is below, and then once this has run it will join the domain using the computername specified. Can you tell me how to specify some domain credentials to run this section of the script as? Cheers, Ben $found=$false $thisComputer = <SERVICE TAG FROM BIOS> $ou = [ADSI]"LDAP://OU=My Computer OU,DC=myDomain,DC=com" foreach ($child in $ou.psbase.Children ) { if ($child.ObjectCategory -like '*computer*') { If ($child.Name -eq $thisComputer) { $found=$true } } } If ($found) { <DELETE THE EXISTING ACCOUNT> }

  • IIS Url Rewrite Capturing query string and escaping characters

    - by LiamB
    We are just adding some redirects for an old site to a new one in IIS7 using the URL Rewrite 'plugin'. The old site's URL are all based on the query string, we'd usually do explicit rewrites like below. But this wont work in the case of the query string. <rule name="Redirect-1" patternSyntax="Wildcard" stopProcessing="true"> <match url="index.php?option=m_content&view=article&id=15&Itemid=16" /> <action type="Redirect" url="http://newurl/some-page" /> </rule> So using the 2 URL's above how can we do a 301 redirect?

  • SQL server availability issue: large query stops other connections from connecting

    - by Carlos
    I've got a high-spec (multicore, RAID) server running MS SQL 2008, with several databases on it. I have a low throughput process that periodically needs a small amount of information from one of the DBs, and the code seems to work fine. However, sometimes when one of my colleagues does a huge query against one of the other DBs, I see full CPU usage on the machine, and connections from my app time out. Why does this happen? I would have thought the many cores and harddisks would somehow (together with cleverly written DB server) be able to keep at least some of the resources free for other apps? I'm pretty sure he doesn't use multiple connections for his query. What can I do to prevent this?

  • Automating the input of query criteria

    - by Steve Wren
    New user to this site and found an extremely informative answer to a question I had but can't find an answer to this one. Using Access 2010, I have 42 different criteria that I need to run individually using the same query. Rather than have 42 queries, or an input parameter dialogue box where I need to enter the criteria 42 times, can I automate this so that the 42 criteria are sourced sequentially from a different table and input to the query using a macro/ module etc. Unfortunately I have no experience of SQL/VBA so am struggling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Query Performance Degrades with High Number of Logical Reads

    - by electricsk8
    I'm using Confio Ignite8 to derive this information, and monitor waits. I have one query that runs frequently, and I notice that on some days there is an extremely high number of logical reads incurred, +300,000,000 for 91,000 executions. On a good day, the logical reads are much lower, 18,000,000 for 94,000 executions. The execution plan for the query utilizes clustered index seeks, and is below. StmtText |--Nested Loops(Inner Join, OUTER REFERENCES:([f].[ParentId])) |--Clustered Index Seek(OBJECT:([StructuredFN].[dbo].[Folder].[PK_Folders] AS [f]), SEEK:([f].[FolderId]=(8125)), WHERE:([StructuredFN].[dbo].[Folder].[DealId] as [f].[DealId]=(300)) ORDERED FORWARD) |--Clustered Index Seek(OBJECT:([StructuredFN].[dbo].[Folder].[PK_Folders] AS [p]), SEEK:([p].[FolderId]=[StructuredFN].[dbo].[Folder].[ParentId] as [f].[ParentId]), WHERE:([StructuredFN].[dbo].[Folder].[DealId] as [p].[DealId]=(300)) ORDERED FORWARD) Output from showstatistics io ... Table 'Folder'. Scan count 0, logical reads 4, physical reads 0, read-ahead reads 0, lob logical reads 0, lob physical reads 0, lob read-ahead reads 0. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot where these high logical reads come from on certain days, and others nothing?

  • "Tail" a logstash server query

    - by phatmanace
    Assuming I have a logstash server chocked full of logs being loaded regularly, is there a reasonably elegant way that I can tail the results of a continuously executing query on the logstash server and show this in a terminal window e.g some-special-logstash-command.sh | egrep -v "(searchword1|searchword2)" the idea being that the command pipes stuff out of logstash and to my grep query that filters and shows me the filtered output for. .. of course if there is a logstash command that can do the grep piece for me as well, then that works too :) motivation for doing this, is that assuming all of my events from my estate is being loaded into logstash, then would be nice to have a terminal window with a continuous tail of interesting events as they occur scrolling past the screen. -Ace

  • Passing unknown amounts of variables using through a string string and eval and multiple functions a

    - by user300797
    I'm not sure how best to describe this problem... In short, I want to use object literal to allow me to pass a random amount of variables in any order to a function. Whilst this is not big deal in theory, in my code, this object literal is passed to a second function call on_change. on_change works comparing an element inner HTML to a string. if it is the same, it sets a time out of to call the function again (this is sort of/almost recursive, but the function dose actually get to end before it is called again). if the elements inner HTML is different from the string, then the third parameter is executed. this will either be a function or a string. either way it will execute. I have tested this function plenty and used it for a while now. how ever, it cannot seem to get the object literal to flow through the function calls... var params = { xpos:'false'}; on_change('window_3_cont_buffer','',' if(Window_manager.windows[3].window_cont_buffer.getElementsByTagName(\'content\')[0].getElementsByTagName(\'p\')[0].innerHTML == \'ERROR\'){ alert(Window_manager.windows[3].window_cont_buffer.getElementsByTagName(\'content\')[0].getElementsByTagName(\'p\')[1].innerHTML); return false; } else { Window_manager.windows[3].load_xml(\'location/view.php?location_ID=3\', \'\', ' + params + ' ); } '); I call this as part of the form submission. after this line, I then call a function to load some content via ajax, which works fine and will trigger the code from the on_change function. I have tested load_xml function it is able to call alert(param.xpos) and get the correct response. I can even added in a check for being undefined so that rest of the times I cam load_xml I don't get swamped with alerts. The load_xml function first set up the on_change function, then calls the function to load the content to a hidden div. Once the AJAX request has updated that DIV, the on_change function should now call the parse_xml function. This pulls out the information from the xml file. How ever... The idea of this object literal param is that it can tell this parse_xml function to ignore certain things. on_change("window_" + this.id + "_cont_buffer", "", "Window_manager.windows[" + this.id + "].parse_xml('" + param + "')"); this is part of load_xml. it works perfectly fine, even with the param bit in there. except, parse_xml dose not seem to be able to use that parameter. I have been able to get it to a point where parse_xml can alert(param) and give [object object] which I would of thought meant that the object litteral had been passed through, but when I try and call alert(param.xpos) I get undefined. I know this is a pig of a problem, and I could get around it by just having the function take a zillion boolean parameters, but its just not practical or elegant. I'm sure you will need to ask me plenty more questions before I can solve this. I will post more complete code, I just cut it down to what is actually going on. Thanks

  • Hibernate - strange order of native SQL parameters

    - by Xorty
    Hello, I am trying to use native MySQL's MD5 crypto func, so I defined custom insert in my mapping file. <hibernate-mapping package="tutorial"> <class name="com.xorty.mailclient.client.domain.User" table="user"> <id name="login" type="string" column="login"></id> <property name="password"> <column name="password" /> </property> <sql-insert>INSERT INTO user (login,password) VALUES ( ?, MD5(?) )</sql-insert> </class> </hibernate-mapping> Then I create User (pretty simple POJO with just 2 Strings - login and password) and try to persist it. session.beginTransaction(); // we have no such user in here yet User junitUser = (User) session.load(User.class, "junit_user"); assert (null == junitUser); // insert new user junitUser = new User(); junitUser.setLogin("junit_user"); junitUser.setPassword("junitpass"); session.save(junitUser); session.getTransaction().commit(); What actually happens? User is created, but with reversed parameters order. He has login "junitpass" and "junit_user" is MD5 encrypted and stored as password. What did I wrong? Thanks EDIT: ADDING POJO class package com.xorty.mailclient.client.domain; import java.io.Serializable; /** * POJO class representing user. * @author MisoV * @version 0.1 */ public class User implements Serializable { /** * Generated UID */ private static final long serialVersionUID = -969127095912324468L; private String login; private String password; /** * @return login */ public String getLogin() { return login; } /** * @return password */ public String getPassword() { return password; } /** * @param login the login to set */ public void setLogin(String login) { this.login = login; } /** * @param password the password to set */ public void setPassword(String password) { this.password = password; } /** * @see java.lang.Object#toString() * @return login */ @Override public String toString() { return login; } /** * Creates new User. * @param login User's login. * @param password User's password. */ public User(String login, String password) { setLogin(login); setPassword(password); } /** * Default constructor */ public User() { } /** * @return hashCode * @see java.lang.Object#hashCode() */ @Override public int hashCode() { final int prime = 31; int result = 1; result = prime * result + ((null == login) ? 0 : login.hashCode()); result = prime * result + ((null == password) ? 0 : password.hashCode()); return result; } /** * @param obj Compared object * @return True, if objects are same. Else false. * @see java.lang.Object#equals(java.lang.Object) */ @Override public boolean equals(Object obj) { if (this == obj) { return true; } if (obj == null) { return false; } if (!(obj instanceof User)) { return false; } User other = (User) obj; if (login == null) { if (other.login != null) { return false; } } else if (!login.equals(other.login)) { return false; } if (password == null) { if (other.password != null) { return false; } } else if (!password.equals(other.password)) { return false; } return true; } }

  • Fill container with template parameters

    - by phlipsy
    I want to fill the template parameters passed to a variadic template into an array with fixed length. For that purpose I wrote the following helper function templates template<typename ForwardIterator, typename T> void fill(ForwardIterator i) { } template<typename ForwardIterator, typename T, T head, T... tail> void fill(ForwardIterator i) { *i = head; fill<ForwardIterator, T, tail...>(++i); } the following class template template<typename T, T... args> struct params_to_array; template<typename T, T last> struct params_to_array<T, last> { static const std::size_t SIZE = 1; typedef std::array<T, SIZE> array_type; static const array_type params; private: void init_params() { array_type result; fill<typename array_type::iterator, T, head, tail...>(result.begin()); return result; } }; template<typename T, T head, T... tail> struct params_to_array<T, head, tail...> { static const std::size_t SIZE = params_to_array<T, tail...>::SIZE + 1; typedef std::array<T, SIZE> array_type; static const array_type params; private: void init_params() { array_type result; fill<typename array_type::iterator, T, last>(result.begin()); return result; } }; and initialized the static constants via template<typename T, T last> const typename param_to_array<T, last>::array_type param_to_array<T, last>::params = param_to_array<T, last>::init_params(); and template<typename T, T head, T... tail> const typename param_to_array<T, head, tail...>::array_type param_to_array<T, head, tail...>::params = param_to_array<T, head, tail...>::init_params(); Now the array param_to_array<int, 1, 3, 4>::params is a std::array<int, 3> and contains the values 1, 3 and 4. I think there must be a simpler way to achieve this behavior. Any suggestions? Edit: As Noah Roberts suggested in his answer I modified my program like the following: I wrote a new struct counting the elements in a parameter list: template<typename T, T... args> struct count; template<typename T, T head, T... tail> struct count<T, head, tail...> { static const std::size_t value = count<T, tail...>::value + 1; }; template<typename T, T last> stuct count<T, last> { static const std::size_t value = 1; }; and wrote the following function template<typename T, T... args> std::array<T, count<T, args...>::value> params_to_array() { std::array<T, count<T, args...>::value> result; fill<typename std::array<T, count<T, args...>::value>::iterator, T, args...>(result.begin()); return result; } Now I get with params_to_array<int, 10, 20, 30>() a std::array<int, 3> with the content 10, 20 and 30. Any further suggestions?

  • Help combining these two queries

    - by Horace Loeb
    I need a SQL query that returns results matched by EITHER of the following SQL queries: Query 1: SELECT "annotations".* FROM "annotations" INNER JOIN "votes" ON "votes".voteable_id = "annotations".id AND "votes".voteable_type = 'Annotation' WHERE (votes.vote = 't' AND votes.voter_id = 78) Query 2: SELECT "annotations".* FROM "annotations" INNER JOIN "songs" ON "songs".id = "annotations".song_id INNER JOIN "songs" songs_annotations ON "songs_annotations".id = "annotations".song_id INNER JOIN "users" ON "users".id = "songs_annotations".state_last_updated_by_id WHERE (annotations.referent IS NOT NULL AND annotations.updated_at < '2010-04-05 01:51:24' AND (body = '?' OR body LIKE '%[?]%') AND ((users.id = songs.state_last_updated_by_id and users.needs_edit = 'f' and songs.state != 'work_in_progress') OR (songs.state = 'published')) Here's what I tried, but it doesn't work: SELECT "annotations".* FROM "annotations" INNER JOIN "songs" ON "songs".id = "annotations".song_id INNER JOIN "songs" songs_annotations ON "songs_annotations".id = "annotations".song_id INNER JOIN "users" ON "users".id = "songs_annotations".state_last_updated_by_id INNER JOIN "votes" ON "votes".voteable_id = "annotations".id AND "votes".voteable_type = 'Annotation' WHERE ((votes.vote = 't' and votes.voter_id = 78) OR (annotations.referent IS NOT NULL and annotations.updated_at < '2010-04-05 01:43:52' and (annotations.body = '?' OR annotations.body LIKE '%[?]%') and ((users.id = songs.state_last_updated_by_id and users.needs_edit = 'f') OR songs.state = 'published')))

  • How to allow bind in app armor?

    - by WitchCraft
    Question: I did setup bind9 as described here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=12149576#post12149576 Now I have a little problem with apparmor: If I switch it off, it works. • Cannot sort a row of size 8130, which is greater than the allowable maximum of 8094

    - by Sri Kumar
    Hello All, SELECT DISTINCT tblJobReq.JobReqId, tblJobReq.JobStatusId, tblJobClass.JobClassId, tblJobClass.Title, tblJobReq.JobClassSubTitle, tblJobAnnouncement.JobClassDesc, tblJobAnnouncement.EndDate, tblJobAnnouncement.AgencyMktgVerbage, tblJobAnnouncement.SpecInfo, tblJobAnnouncement.Benefits, tblSalary.MinRateSal, tblSalary.MaxRateSal, tblSalary.MinRateHour, tblSalary.MaxRateHour, tblJobClass.StatementEval, tblJobReq.ApprovalDate, tblJobReq.RecruiterId, tblJobReq.AgencyId FROM ((tblJobReq LEFT JOIN tblJobAnnouncement ON tblJobReq.JobReqId =tblJobAnnouncement.JobReqId) INNER JOIN tblJobClass ON tblJobReq.JobClassId = tblJobClass.JobClassId) LEFT JOIN tblSalary ON tblJobClass.SalaryCode = tblSalary.SalaryCode WHERE (tblJobReq.JobClassId in (SELECT JobClassId from tblJobClass WHERE tblJobClass.Title like '%Family Therapist%')) When i try to execute the query it results in the following error. Cannot sort a row of size 8130, which is greater than the allowable maximum of 8094 I checked and didn't find any solution. The only way is to truncate (substring())the "tblJobAnnouncement.JobClassDesc" in the query which has column size of around 8000. Do we have any work around so that i need not truncate the values. Or Can this query be optimised? Any setting in SQL Server 2000?

  • Windows Azure: need to know the data processing time

    - by veda
    I have stored some files in the form of blobs on azure and I have written an application that would access these blobs. When I host this application as a web role on azure, it works perfectly and I am happy with that. But now, I wanted to know “what is the query time taken to access each blob file?” I was searching for this through the Microsoft Azure Storage SLA and I found that for GetBlob request type, the maximum processing time should be within the product of 2 seconds multiplied by the number of MBs transferred in processing the request. I am still unclear. What is the actual processing time of my data query? How can I measure it? Can I be able to speed up the processing time? I can understand that the processing time depends on internet speed, location of the data center where my data is being stored, and location of data center where my application is being hosted. But still, will I be able to speed up my query?

  • combining two select statements to return one result

    - by DalivDali
    I need to combine the results for two select queries from two view tables, from which I am performing calculations. Perhaps there is an easier way to perform a query using if...else - any pointers? Essentially I need to divide everything by 'ar.time_ratio' under the condition in sql query 1, and ignore that for query 2. SELECT gs.traffic_date, gs.domain_group, gs.clicks/ar.time_ratio as 'Scaled_clicks', gs.visitors/ar.time_ratio as 'scaled_visitors', gs.revenue/ar.time_ratio as 'scaled_revenue', (gs.revenue/gs.clicks)/ar.time_ratio as 'scaled_average_cpc', (gs.clicks)/(gs.visitors)/ar.time_ratio as 'scaled_ctr', gs.average_rpm/ar.time_ratio as 'scaled_rpm', (((gs.revenue)/(gs.visitors))/ar.time_ratio)*1000 as "Ecpm" FROM group_stats gs, v_active_ratio ar WHERE ar.group_id=gs.domain_group and SELECT gs.traffic_date, gs.domain_group, gs.clicks, gs.visitors, gs.revenue, (gs.revenue/gs.clicks) as 'average_cpc', (gs.clicks)/(gs.visitors) as 'average_ctr', gs.average_rpm, ((gs.revenue)/(gs.visitors))*1000 as "Ecpm" FROM group_stats gs, v_active_ratio ar where not ar.group_id=gs.domain_group

  • PDO update with conditional?

    - by dmontain
    I have a PDO mysql that updates 3 fields. $update = $mypdo->prepare("UPDATE tablename SET field1=:field1, field2=:field2, field3=:field3 WHERE key=:key"); But I want field3 to be updated only when $update3 = true; Is this possible to accomplish with a single query? I could do it with 2 queries where I update field1 and field2 then check the boolean and update field3 if needed in a separate query. But hopefully there is a way to accomplish this in 1 query?

  • SELECT a list of elements and 5 tags for each one

    - by Vittorio Vittori
    Hi, I'm trying to query a set of buldings listed on a table, these buildings are linked with tags. I'm able to do it, but my problem is how limit the number of tags to see: table buildings id building_name style 1 Pompidou bla 2 Alcatraz bla 3 etc. etc. table tags // they can be 50 or more per building id tag_name 1 minimal 2 gothic 3 classical 4 modern 5 etc. table buildings_tags id building_id tag_id I though to do something like this to retrieve the list, but this isn't compplete: SELECT DISTINCT(tag), bulding_name FROM buldings INNER JOIN buildings_tags ON buildings.id = buildings_tags.building_id INNER JOIN tags ON tags.id = buildings_tags.tag_id LIMIT 0, 20 // result building tag Pompidou great Pompidou france Pompidou paris Pompidou industrial Pompidou renzo piano <= How to stop at the 5th result? Pompidou hi-tech Pompidou famous place Pompidou wtf etc.. etc... this query loads the buildings, but this query loads all the tags linked for the building, and not only 5 of them?

  • How do views reduce code duplication?

    - by Debuger
    Hi! I read something like this about db views: Views are incredibly powerful and useful for one reason that stands out above all the other very good reasons. They reduce code duplication. That is, in most cases, the bottom line. If a query will be used in three or more places, then a view will drastically simplify your changes if the schema or query parameters change. I once had to edit 22 stored procedures to change some query logic. If the original architecture had utilized views, then I would have had only three changes. Can anyone explain to me how it works, and maybe give me some examples? Best regards!

  • Ordering recursive result set in SQL Server

    - by Ben
    I am having extreme difficulty constructing a query which returns an XML style hierarchy. We have a database table which contains a hierarchy of URLs for our website. The table contains the columns: ID, URL, DisplayName, ParentID, ItemOrder The parent ID forms a recursive relationship between the current item and it's parent. The item should site below it's parent in the hierarchy and it should also be ordered using the item order against items at the same level in the hierarchy. I have managed to get a recursive query working so it drills down the hierarchy sequentially but I cannot order this by the item order as well. My current query is below: WITH Parents AS ( SELECT MenuItemId, URL, ParentItemId, ItemOrder FROM CambsMenu UNION ALL SELECT si.MenuItemId, si.URL, si.ParentItemId, si.ItemOrder FROM CambsMenu si INNER JOIN Parents p ON si.ParentItemId = p.MenuItemId ) SELECT DISTINCT * FROM Parents
