    I am trying to send data from child activity to parent. So they input something like: Email body text including <. (say ExistingVariable is an int or something like that) Any helpful hints for how to convert this text with a ToString() at runtime?

    I have the following interface: public interface PluginInterface<T> where T : MyData { List<T> GetTableData(); } In a separate assembly, I have a class that implements this interface. In fact, all classes that implement this interface are in separate assemblies. The reason is to architect my app as a plugin host, where plugin can be done in the future as long as they implement the above interface and the assembly DLLs are copied to the appropriate folder. My app discovers the plugins by first loading the assembly and performs the following: List<PluginInterface<MyData>> Plugins = new List<PluginInterface<MyData>>(); string FileName = ...;//name of the DLL file that contains classes that implement the interface Assembly Asm = Assembly.LoadFile(Filename); foreach (Type AsmType in Asm.GetTypes()) { //Type type = AsmType.GetInterface("PluginInterface", true); // Type type = AsmType.GetInterface("PluginInterface<T>", true); if (type != null) { PluginInterface<MyData> Plugin = (PluginInterface<MyData>)Activator.CreateInstance(AsmType); Plugins.Add(Plugin); } } The trouble is because neither line where I am getting the type as by doing Type type = ... seems to work, as both seems to be null. I have the feeling that the generic somehow contributes to the trouble. Do you know why?

  • FindControl() method throws ArithmeticException?

    I have a line of C# in my ASP.NET code behind that looks like this: DropDownList ddlStates = (DropDownList)fvAccountSummary.FindControl("ddlStates"); The DropDownList control is explicitly declared in the markup on the page, not dynamically created. It is inside of a FormView control. When my code hits this line, I am getting an ArithmeticException with the message "Value was either too large or too small for an Int32." This code has worked previously, and is in production right now. I fired up VS2008 to make some changes to the site, but before I changed anything, I got this exception from the page. Anyone seen this one before?

  • Call from a singleton class to a function which in turn calls that class's method

    Hello, I am still looking for a way to phrase it properly (I'm not a native speaker...). So I have this class SQL which implements the singleton pattern (for obvious reasons) and I also have this function, checkUsr(), which queries the database using one of SQL's methods. Everything works fine as long as I don't call checkUsr() from within the SQL class. When I do so, the scripts just exits and a blank page is displayed - no errors are returned, no exception is thrown... What's happening? And how do I work around this problem?     I recently discovered the GDB in Xcode which makes up for some functionality which IMHO seems to be lacking in Xcode. So I can do the following in GDB: (gdb) po [LoginManager sharedSession].loginToken 20D52FE9-3573-437E-9A65-846572B63726 However, I have another Service class, which is currently not loaded so I get the following error: (gdb) po [SessionService displaySessionInfoForToken:@"XXX"] No symbol "SessionService" in current context. I don't understand why the LoginManager can be loaded but not the SessionService.

  • Need new method for linking to native mapping from mobile web app

    My mobile web apps use a map button which automatically starts the mapping features of Android and iPhone by simply linking to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=New+York. iOs 6 comes out, the links stop working, because Apple wants us to use "maps.APPLE.com". Turns out ANYTHING you send to "maps.apple.com" gets forwarded to "maps.google.com". So now I have to specially detect iOs 6 and swap out links just so Apple can forward everything back to Google anyway. Is there a clean way to open the device/native mapping app from a mobile web app that works on Android, iOs 6, and iOs pre-6, since iOs 6 nerfed it?     I've come across this.inheritFrom that enables you to inherit from a super class. var superClass = function() { this.foo = 'foo'; this.bar = 'bar'; } var subClass = function() { this.inheritFrom = superClass; this.inheritFrom(); this.myFunction = function() { return this.foo; }; } I've looked in Mozilla and MSDN, but I can't seem to find it documented any where. As far as I can see it works in IE6 and Firefox 3. Any reason why it wouldn't be documented?

    Can I use ActionView::Helpers::SanitizeHelper#sanitize on user-entered text that I plan on showing to other users? E.g., will it properly handle all cases described on this site? Also, the documentation mentions: Please note that sanitizing user-provided text does not guarantee that the resulting markup is valid (conforming to a document type) or even well-formed. The output may still contain e.g. unescaped ’<’, ’’, ’&’ characters and confuse browsers. What's the best way to handle this? Pass the sanitized text through Hpricot before displaying?

    My code tries to replace "," with "/" in a string. Should I escape "," in the regex string? Both of the two code snippets generated the same results, so I am confused. Car and Bike are subclasses of Vehicle. They overwrite greet(). However, I'm getting "Hello, I'm a vehicle". I suppose that this is because receiveVehicle receives a parameter of type Vehicle instead of a specific subclass like Car or Bike. But that's what I want: I want this function to work with any subclass of Vehicle. Why am I not getting the expected output?

    I might be losing the plot, but I hope someone can point me in the right direction. What am I trying to do? I'm trying to write some base methods which take Func< and Action so that these methods handle all of the exception handling etc. so its not repeated all over the place but allow the derived classes to specify what actions it wants to execute. So far this is the base class. public abstract class ServiceBase<T> { protected T Settings { get; set; } protected ServiceBase(T setting) { Settings = setting; } public void ExecAction(Action action) { try { action(); } catch (Exception exception) { throw new Exception(exception.Message); } } public TResult ExecFunc<T1, T2, T3, TResult>(Func<T1, T2, T3, TResult> function) { try { /* what goes here?! */ } catch (Exception exception) { throw new Exception(exception.Message); } } } I want to execute an Action in the following way in the derived class (this seems to work): public void Delete(string application, string key) { ExecAction(() => Settings.Delete(application, key)); } And I want to execute a Func in a similar way in the derived class but for the life of me I can't seem to workout what to put in the base class. I want to be able to call it in the following way (if possible): public object Get(string application, string key, int? expiration) { return ExecFunc(() => Settings.Get(application, key, expiration)); } Am I thinking too crazy or is this possible?
