• Detecting video playing in browser from a screenshot -- OpenCV

  I would like to draw a rectangle around a video playing on my screen. For example, I am watching a YouTube video in my browser. I would like to be able to take a screenshot, analyze that screenshot, and then draw a rectangle around where the YouTube video is playing. I have just started looking into how I might be able to to this. I came across OpenCV. I understand that OpenCV covers many computer vision techniques. Would any of them be particularly well suited for this task? Also, is this something that can be done in real time? Finally, is there a technique that would work for both in browser and full screen? Thanks!

• How to find text in images with the browser control+F

  Have HTML pages with many sections and each section has a section title displayed as an image (to use nice font). The problem is that even if I specify an 'alt' and 'title' text on each image/title the Ctrl+F browser functionality does not find the text. Thought two possible solutions but not very happy about them 1) Use embed fonts. Problem: Can not find the font required by client to use and not sure about copyrights. 2) Have the text in the image in DIV near the image but hidden from user view. Problem: Can search engines consider this keyword stuffing? Will browser find text if display:none Does anybody has a better solution? Thanks Riga

  Hello, I have a TextBox that has the TextChanged event set declaratively. In some cases, I want programmatically set this value. In these cases, I want to disable the TextChanged event until I'm done programmatically setting the value. Then, when I'm done, I want to restore the event handler to behave as it was. For a single TextBox, I know I can accomplish this by doing the following: myTextBox.TextChanged -= myTextBox_TextChanged; myTextBox.Text = "[Some Value]"; myTextBox.TextChanged += myTextBox_TextChanged; However, I want to write this functionality into a single method that can be accessed by several methods. For instance, I'm trying to do so something like the following private void UpdateTextValue(TextBox textBox, string newValue) { object eventHandler = textBox.TextChanged; textBox.TextChanged -= eventHandler; textBox.Text = newValue; textBox.TextChanged += eventHandler; } Unfortunately, this approach doesn't work. • psloglist -w into a file

  I'm trying to redirect windows event log continuously into a file. psloglist.exe has the -w feature (that listens for new events and outputs to console) so I tried combining it with redirection into a file like so: psloglist -w > out.txt It doesn't work. As new events are logged they do not show up in the file. However, if I remove > out.txt new events do shows up in the console!

• doubt regarding carrying data in custom events using actionscript

  Hi I am working on actionscript to generate a SWF dynamically using JSON data coming from an HTTP request. I receive the data on creationComplete and try to generate a tree like structure. I don’t create the whole tree at the same time. I create 2 levels, level 1 and level 2. My goal is to attach custom events on the panels which represent tree nodes. When users click the panels, it dispatches custom events and try to generate the next level. So, it goes like this : On creation complete - get JSON- create top tow levels - click on level 2- create the level 2 and level 3 - click on level 3- create level 3 and 4. …and so on and so on. • How to remove the Firefox default homepage?

  Hi, I am using Win 7 64 bit with Firefox as my web browser. Whenever I double click on the FF icon to open my firefox, there would be a chinese website, loading as a tab on my FF. I have checked on my setting for startup homepage for FF under the Tools > Options, it was set to Google as my default page. Can anyone please advise how can I remove the disturbing chinese website from loading on my ff everytime I open my firefox? Thank you very much.

• Turn Off Google Chrome Annoying Link Hover

  I like Google Chrome a lot, but there are two problems I have with it. The Address Bar search history feature that I want to turn off, and the feature where I hover over a hyperlink and in the bottom lefthand corner it shows a light blue hover tooltip about where that link goes. I really don't care where a given link goes and wish I could turn that feature off, even if I have to install a Google Chrome Extension. So, for these two reasons, I will not install Google Chrome as my primary browser and will remain with Firefox. So, is there a fix to turn the annoying link hover tooltip feature off?

And there is an application installed on device, configured to receive push messages on appropriate port. Everything works well on MDS simulator. • Youtube videos all appear transparent in Chrome (I can see through to my desktop -- see pic!)

  MBP 6,2 :: Google Chrome 13.0.782.32 beta :: Adobe Flash Player 10,3,181,26 UPDATE: only Youtube is affected. Vimeo, other flash, etc. all works great. Hello. I recently had to hard reboot my MBP. After that, I could not watch Youtube videos or (I believe) other flash enabled content. The videos appear transparent, as if there were a "hole" in my browser (Chrome) such that I could see through the hole and see my desktop.   I heavily rely on Opera's speed dial and password management features. Lack of these two features is really stopping me from switching to another web browser such as Chrome or Firefox. Opera's password management has two unique characteristics which I rely on heavily: It saves passwords on all pages, (apparently) despite the page's meta data asking not to save passwords. It offers keyboard shortcut and button to automatically fill in username/passwords and all other fields in a login form, then automatically submit the form. (So I'm only one key/click away from logging into a website) How can I get those functions in other browsers? Thank you! Edit: Reason being that I use other web browsers at work and I wish they could have those functions.

  What browsers have good keyboard support? That means you don't have to use the mouse so much. Or what is a good setup for browser + keyboard interaction. I know the basic keyboard shortcuts (tab switching, new tabs etc.) but I don't know a good way to switch between links and search areas - usually that means TAB, Shift-TAB one at a time. Is there maybe some plugin that'll add numbers to links and I could just do something like 12 to go to the link 12?

  I'm looking for some Firefox (4 or 5) extension to save a group of tabs (better if can be done directly in Panorama view). What I mean by "Save tabs" is not to restore them when Firefox starts. I always have the browser opened and a LOT of tabs (work and personal life related) eating my RAM. So when I'm not working, I would want a way to save those tabs but keep them closed while I still use Firefox. So when I have to start working again, I will restore that saved tabs back again. I know I could use something like Read It Later, but I really need a way to say "hey, save this group of tabs and close them". RIL makes me do it per tab, which is annoying since I'm used to have A LOT.

• Automatically download files in Internet Explorer without getting prompted to Save / Cancel?

  I am currently using IE7 with XP SP3. When a webpage download with unknown file type loads, I get a prompt asking me what I want to do with the file. My options are FIND SAVE CANCEL. How do I make it so that I don't get this popup prompt, but Internet explorer automatically downloads the file into a directory I choose without asking? PS. I have already tried Tools Internet Options Security Internet Custom Level Downloads Disable/Enable/Enable, but this doesn't help. Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I have to use IE. I'm using it in connection with other proprietary software based on IE and its settings. And yes I'm aware it's not a great browser. (This is not for strictly personal use in the browsing sense. )

• My browsers won't use my full screen resolution, IE different

  My screen resolution is actually 3200x1800, but when I'm in a browser it acts like I have a smaller resolution. How do I get my browsers to use my full resolution? On Chrome it's using 1280x720, and on IE it's using 1600x900. According to whatismyscreenresolution.com, which is showing different values for different browsers. I took a screenshot of them and verified that my resolution is 3200x1800 as that is the pixels in the bitmap. I'm on a laptop with no monitor plugged in. My zoom in both browsers is at 100%. I've tried zooming out below 100% but then the text is unreadable and pixellated. I've tried restarting. Windows 8.1. I've tried the chrome extension OptiZoom and it does nothing. document.body.clientWidth gives 1247, and I want it to give 3200.

  Fortify.net is a service that displays what's the currently encryption key used by your browser in a https connection. If I browse this site with Chrome 4.1.249.1042 in WinXp SP3 the key used is RC4 cipher, 128-bit key This encryption is weak, and it's the one used by old browsers like IE6. Chrome works fine on Fedora9 and it uses AES cipher, 256-bit key as more modern browsers do (i.e.Firefox) I consider this a security issue. I'm considering to switch back to Firefox in Windows. Do you know if it's possible to change the default encryption key in Chrome?

  The situation: Windows 7 ultimate on standard box 4 GB RAM. The problem: IE 8 kept on crashing. Tried upgrading to IE 9 - no better. Then I thought I will have to kick IE into touch and go with Firefox. Same problem Firefox crashes. Gave Chrome a chance - same problem the browser just says sorry, and closes / restarts. Other problems, this is not the best machine I have ever had, Word sometime closes unexpectedly, and I have trouble with Microsoft Updates failing first time.

• How does one launch PhpPgAdmin?

  I just installed postgresql, php5 and in particular PhpPgAdmin using Ubuntu's synaptic app. The PHP is running fine, the http server (lighttpd) is working fine, and I can do pg a the command line. The only thing that remains a mystery is PhpPgAdmin - just how does one fire it up to use it? I am clueless about the proper means of starting PhpPgAdmin; it isn't explained anywhere on the site for it. I tried typing phppgadmin at a bash command prompt, and entering "http://phppgsdmin/" and "http://localhost/phppgadmin" as wild guesses in the address bar in a browser - nothing happens. What is the secret? BTW, i'm only serving http on localhost, doing purely private web development.

• How can I preview various Google services in Firefox?

  With iGoogle shut down I haven't been able to replicate my homepage through other services. I'm not asking for a generic replacement for iGoogle, but how to accomplish a specific use case whether through a third-party dashboard, browser extension, or some DIY solution. I need an interactive Gmail inbox, Gmail Tasks, and Google Calendar in the same Firefox tab. If hosted by a third party, they need to authenticate safely using the Google account that I am logged in with. Other widgets would be useful but I only require those Google services. I'm using Gmail itself for now but there is hardly room for the other widgets in the sidebar. Both Google Sites and igHome won't reliably load the services, especially Tasks. Netvibes requires raw login information for third-party services.

• Font rendering in Internet Explorer vs other browsers on Windows XP

  I have four browsers installed on my Windows XP SP3 machine: Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 3.5, Safari 4, and Google Chrome. For whatever reason, fonts appeared to be rendered differently in IE than in the other browsers. It seems the fonts are anti-aliased in IE but not in the others. Why might this be? Is this an issue with the browsers or my operating system? I've noticed this issue on several Windows XP machines that I've used. While it may seem like no big deal, the lack of font smoothing in the other browsers keeps me from using them as my primary browser. Most importantly, what can I do to get the other browsers to render fonts smoothly?
