  • Rearrange a python list into n lists, by column

    Trying to solve this at this hour has gotten my mind into a tail-spin: I want to rearrange a list l into a list of n lists, where n is the number of columns. e.g., l = [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8] n = 5 ==> [[1,6][2,7][3,8][4][5]] another example: l = [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10] n = 4 ==> [[1,5,9],[2,6,10],[3,7][4,8] Can someone please help me out with an algorithm? Feel free to use any python awesomeness that's available; I'm sure theres some cool mechanism that's a good fit for this, i just can't think of it.

Is there some way to make something like this work, like an overload of foreach, or another snippet that might help me? I want to make it easy for a programmer to sort through the lists grabbing only what type they need.

    I have a minor problem while checking for elements in a list: I have two files with contents something like this file 1: file2: 47 358 47 48 450 49 49 56 50 I parsed both files into two lists and used the following code to check for i in file_1: for j in file_2: j = j.split() if i == j[1]: x=' '.join(j) I am now trying to get a "0" if the value of file_1 is not there in file_2 for example, value "48" is not there is file_2 so I need to get the output like (with only one space in between the two numbers): output_file: 358 47 0 48 450 49 56 50 I tried using the dictionary approach but I didn't quite get what I wanted (actually I don't know how to use dictionary in python correctly ;)). Any help will be great.

    How can I hide the New / Actions / Upload / Settings menus within a list or document library in SharePoint? Note that I need to be able to hide these menus for a particular list definition (template) and not just all lists or document libraries. One possible way that I know of is to register a , and set the ControlClass element to a control that inherits from WebControl. In the WebControl, I can override OnPreRender, which then does this: foreach (Control control in this.Parent.Controls) { if (control.ToString() == "Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.NewMenu") { control.Visible = false; } // etc } This is pretty hacky, and I was just wondering if there is a better way of doing it?

    I'm trying to learn some Ajax and MySQL... Basically, the code that I have right now is similar to: http://www.w3schools.com/PHP/php_ajax_database.asp I was wondering how should I modify those codes (both html, javascript and php) to create two drop down lists. The first drop list would be used for choosing the Lastname (eg. Swanson) and the second drop list would be used for choosing the Hometown (eg. Quahog). Then the user would click "Submit" button and the query would return the matching results (eg. all the Swansons living in Quahog). I'd be very thankful for all the ideas!

    I have a list, root, of lists, root[child0], root[child1], etc. I want to sort the children of the root list by the first value in the child list, root[child0][0], which is an int. Example: import random children = 10 root = [[random.randint(0, children), "some value"] for child in children] I want to sort root from greatest to least by the first element of each of it's children.     I need little help with transferring data from variables, arrays, lists to my SQL Server. Im not bad in SQL, but im not familiar with DataSet, DataTable objects. My data is now stored in list of strings (List). Every string in that list looks similar to this: QWERTY,19920604,0.91,0.35,0.34,0.35,343840 There are about 900000 rows like this. Target datatypes in SQL Server: BIGINT (primary key, im not inserting it, its identity(1,1)) VARCHAR(10), DATE, DECIMAL(10,2), DECIMAL(10,2), DECIMAL(10,2), DECIMAL(10,2), INT How to convert that data to SQL Server data types? How to insert that data into SQL Server? Also i need some progress bar updates between inserts. I could do this using old-fashion SQL command, but i have learn more modern way :)

    I have several ArrayLists of Integer objects, stored in a HashMap. I want to get a list (ArrayList) of all the numbers (Integer objects) that appear in each list. My thinking so far is: Iterate through each ArrayList and put all the values into a HashSet This will give us a "listing" of all the values in the lists, but only once Iterate through the HashSet 2.1 With each iteration perform ArrayList.contains() 2.2 If none of the ArrayLists return false for the operation add the number to a "master list" which contains all the final values. If you can come up with something faster or more efficient, funny thing is as I wrote this I came up with a reasonably good solution. But I'll still post it just in case it is useful for someone else. But of course if you have a better way please do let me know.

As we added new columns to any other existing entities, We are getting below error: target lists can have at most 1664 entries I searched internet and they say this is due to More number of select statements in sql query (generated by hibernate) Can you any body please let us know if there is any configuration (in postgres) to update max number columns in configuration or any other solution to solve this issue. Consider: Perhaps a list the 50 United States names is an easy thing to find (does one include DC?) , but the countries are not. Nearly every site you find has a differing list with all of the political goings on over the years, and they become outdated quickly. What's the best practice regarding population of these kinds of lists? Is there an official list somewhere that one uses to populate these kinds of formal/official fields? Where do you get this data from, when it's not exactly specified in the specs?

    Hi, My c++ program needs to maintain 2 list of objects. list inuse; list free; So objects A can even in 'inuse' list or in 'free' list, but not both. http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/stl/list/ I am think of using 'list' as the data structure for my lists. My questions are 1. why i can't randomly access an elmenet in the list, I look at the above api, I don't see a way to get inuse[2]; 2. How can I remove an element in the list? There is an erase(), but how can I use it to remove element #2? And after I remove element 2? will STL list fill the erased spot automatically? e.g. #3 will become #2, #4 will become #3 and so on?     Let's say I have a list, and a filtering function. Using something like >>> filter(lambda x: x > 10, [1,4,12,7,42]) [12, 42] I can get the elements matching the criterion. Is there a function I could use that would output two lists, one of elements matching, one of the remaining elements? I could call the filter() function twice, but that's kinda ugly :) Edit: the order of elements should be conserved, and I may have identical elements multiple times.

    I have a List of Java objects on my server which is sent to the client through some serialization mechanism. Once in a while the List of objects gets updated on the server, that is, some objects get added, some get deleted and others just change their place in the List. I want to update the List on the client side as well, but send the least possible data. Especially, I don't want to resend Objects which are already available on the client. Is there a library available which will produce some sort of diff from the two lists, so that I can only send the difference and the new Objects accross the wire? I have found several Java implementation of the unix diff command, but this algorithm is unpractical for order changes. ie. [A,B,C] - [C,B,A] could be sent as only place changes [1-3] [3-1], while diff will want to resend the whole A and C objects (as far as I understand).

    I gonna try to describe my problem the best i can. I have two lists, one with audio frames and other with color frames (not relevant). Both of them have timestamps, they were captured at the same moment but at different instants. So, i have like this: index COLOR AUDIO 0 841 846 1 873 897 2 905 948 3 940 1000 the frames start at high numbers because they were captured and then trimmed to specific parts, but im shot, frame 0 is synced with only 5ms apart(timestamp in ms). On every case i have, the audio frames count is less than the color count. I need to make them have the same count. The stating frames may be coloraudio, color

And when I use browse function in IIS manager to browse the html file, I met with the following error, any ideas what is wrong?   • HTML Redirect issue with Apache2

    I am facing an issue with the ProxyPass on my Apache server on Ubuntu. I have configured Apache to deal with Virtual Hosts on my server. There is an application with runs on the server and uses ports 8001 8002. I need to do something like www.example.com/demo/origin to display the contents that I would see when I visit www.example.com:8000. The contents to be displayed are a host of HTML pages. This is the section of the virtual host config that has issues ProxyPass /demo/vader http://www.example.com:8001/ ProxyPassReverse /demo/vader http://www.example:8001/ ProxyPass /demo/skywalker http://www.example.com:8002/ ProxyPassReverse /demo/skywalker http://www.example.com:8002/ Now when I visit example.com/demo/skywalker, I see the first page of port 8002, say the login.html page. The second should have been www.example.com/demo/skywalker/userAction.html, instead the server shows www.example.com:8000/login.html. In the error logs I see something like: [Mon Nov 11 18:01:20 2013] [debug] mod_proxy_http.c(1850): proxy: HTTP: FILE NOT FOUND /htdocs/js/demo.72fbff3c9a97f15a4fff28e19b0de909.min.js I do not have any folder htdocs in the system. This is only an issue while viewing .html pages. Otherwise, no such issue occurs. When I visit localhost:8001 it will show any and all contents without any errors or issues. www.example.com/demo/skywalker displays a separate webpage www.example.com/demo/origin displays a different webpage and www.example.com/demo/vader displays a different webpage. I have also tried to use one more type of combination, <Location /demo/origin/> ProxyPass http://localhost:8000/ ProxyPassReverse http://localhost:8000/ ProxyHTMLURLMap http://localhost:8000/ / </Location> This fails as well. I would greatly appreciate if anyone can help me resolve this issue.

    How do I configure the squid to only request text/html to the parent cache; right now I am using : cache_peer 127.0.0.1 parent 8080 0 no-query no-digest on the second hand I get a lot of direct request that do not use the parent proxy: some queries go like FIRST_UP_PARENT and some like DIRECT, how do I tell the squid to always use parent for text/html BTW .. is a transparent proxy I have tried : cache_peer 127.0.0.1 parent 8080 0 no-query no-digest acl elhtml req_mime_type -i ^text/html$ acl elhtml req_mime_type -i text/html cache_peer_access 127.0.0.1 allow elhtml cache_peer_access 127.0.0.1 deny all and it does not works Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Graphic Design in Outlook HTML Emails

    At the moment we are creating artwork in Word and saving it as an HTML file. Opening up a new email, clicking insert on menuclicking ‘File’Selecting HTML file and choosing insert as text. The word document is then embedded into the email and we can create HTML links from there. The problem with this method is we are limited to what we can create visually in Word. The artwork just does not look professional enough and we find that sometimes the headers or footers do not appear or do not stay in their correct position. What I would like to do is to be able to start in Adobe InDesign (the graphics package we use). So far I have been able to create artwork in InDesign and create buttons and hyperlinks in InDesignExport it as a pdf, maintaining the hyperlinksSave as HTML documentOpen new emailInsert HTML file choosing insert as text. The problem with this method is that the images move about, the text is all different sizes, but on the plus side, the hyperlinks have been retained. So I am almost there, but not quite. Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get the design to display 'correctly' in Outlook.

    I'm trying to setup an Apache reverse proxy using mod_proxy and modproxyperlhtml. This is my scenario: Domain for the proxy: http : // www.myserver.com/ Destination server (the one behind the proxy): http : // myserver.foo.com/myapp/ I'm sorry that I have to space the URL but serverfault doesn't allow me to post more than two links as "spam protection mechanism" (ridiculous on a site where you ask questions about servers and it's really probable to post more than two times the same URL's to explain your question). The idea is to map http : // www.myserver.com/ to http : // myserver.foo.com/myapp/ . Note that the path on the proxy is / and on the destination server is /myapp/. All of the examples I can find on the net (like the one on the official documentation of modproxyperlhtml) are the other way around, ie. path on the proxy /myapp/ and path on the destination server /. This is my current config that doesn't work: ProxyPass / http : // myserver.foo.com/myapp/ ProxyPassReverse / http : // myserver.foo.com/myapp/ PerlInputFilterHandler Apache2::ModProxyPerlHtml PerlOutputFilterHandler Apache2::ModProxyPerlHtml SetHandler perl-script PerlSetVar ProxyHTMLVerbose "On" LogLevel Info <Location / > # ProxyPassReverse /myapp/ PerlAddVar ProxyHTMLURLMap "/myapp/ /" PerlAddVar ProxyHTMLURLMap "http : // myserver.foo.com /" </Location> The examples use the ProxyPassReverse inside the Location directive, but on my case doesn't work, only when outside.   • emacs ORG-mode "headless" export-as commands?

    When I use org-export-as-latex or org-export-as-html orgmode turns my buffer into a .tex file or .html file. But I don't want all the extra junk that it adds to the file: I want to handle the documentclass and everything myself and just \input the org mode generated file. (Or the analogous things for html with php). So if my org file just has: * Section - Stuff - Things I want the org mode command to output just \section{Section} \begin{itemize} \item Stuff \item Things \end{itemize} Without any of the extra \tableofcontents junk that ORG adds to it. I know I could define my own kind of #+LaTeX_CLASS that could add the packages I want and so on, but I don't want to do things that way (and that wouldn't remove the \maketitle or the spurious \vspace* that ORG insists on inserting. Is there a command to do this "headless" parsing and converting? I had a look but it's not obvious from the documentation. Presumably some low level ORG command is doing the parsing and converting I want, but I couldn't find what it was called from looking at the docs and C-h pages... This is not a question about HTML or LaTeX but about emacs ORG mode. So don't kick it off to some other site...
