  • How might one develop a program like FRAPS?

    I would like to make a program to capture video. What is the best way to capture video? I know C++ and I'm learning assembly. I found in my assembly book that I can get data from the video card. Would that be the best way? I know FRAPS hooks into programs, but I would like my program to take video of the entire screen. I would like something something fast, with low memory usage if possible. A requirement is that the program must be usable on other computers, despite dissimilar hardware.

    Lets say I have a WPF application that shows a ListBox with an ArrayList -populated with objects of arbitrary types- as a source, and this application is hosted in an assembly 'A'. By default the ListBox will display the custom object 'ToString' method return value. If a data template for that object type is found, the ListBox will use it for rendering. Imagine that theres another assembly 'B' that references of 'A' and seeks to extend it by providing custom data templates for certain types, to be used in that ListBox. Is there some way to do that without 'A'being aware of B?

    Hello, Is it possible to create a class dynamically by reading an xml file ( in java preferably) ? if yes, please provide pointers on how to do it. In the process of development, we have come up with a class that has 5 attributes, all these attributes correspond to an entry in the xml file, now if the user adds/modifies the xml entry the object corresponding to it must change automatically, one approach would be generate the source code, before compile time.Is there any other way ?   • How is the Trac Project List page customised?

    We've been using Trac for a while now for our developers only. However we are now opening it up for our (internal) clients. We have a project listing page (based on the default one that comes with Trac). What we'd like to do, is display more information about the project than what is currently available. I have searched google and here, to see if I can find how to get more information. There seems to be a variable called $project which has .name, .description and .href as attributes. Is there somewhere, a list of the attributes available? Or perhaps a different solution altogether that will allow us to display more information on the project list page. Such as the number of open tickets etc.

  • What is the "Entity" reffering to in fluent Nhibernate Mapping Configuration?

    I am trying to learn fluent nhibernate better so am doing a basic sample application from scratch, instead of using someone elses framework. However, I am finding I really don't understand what is going on in assigning mapping files. I have seen a lot of code examples which are all showing the same code, but nothing that spells it out. No description of how it works just that it works. Here is a code example that I see often. return Fluently.Configure() .Database(config) .Mappings(m => m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<Entity>()) .BuildSessionFactory(); So in the code example what is Entity? and how does that piece of code work? Part of me thinks it is the name of the assembly, but seeing as how the namespace I am using is usually the name of the assembly the compiler complains that I am using a namespace as a type. I feel this is important and am rather flustered by the fact I can't figure it out. Thanks

    I have a .NET project that uses Crystal Reports. The application is distributed using ClickOnce. Things work great if the user has Crystal installed on their computer. However, not all of the end users have Crystal Reports installed on their computers. These users are receiving the following error... "Unable to install or run the application. The application requires that assembly CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.XmlSerialize Version 10.5.3700.0 be installed in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) first." Is there a way to force ClickOnce installs to ensure that a prerequisite is installed?

  • How to get at ResourceDictionary style when it is loaded from external xap and assemblies are MEF-fe

    I've got the following setup: The main application loads a XAP with an IPlugin implementation. The Plugin contains a 'DisplayPanel' that contains a referenced Control with other controls. The DisplayPanel here is simply a container control to show referenced Control. This referenced Control, from an assembly, uses a Style from a ResourceDictionary xaml in this assembly. At least that's what I want to have. The problem is that the referenced Control throws an error: Cannot find a Resource with the Name/Key PlayerPanelGrad [Line: 1500 Position: 127] I've tried to get at the style by referencing the ResourceDictionary through a Merged Resource dictionary reference: <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="TableControls;component/ControlsStyle.xaml"/> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> But that doesn't work. How would you approch this?

  • How to mark a method as "ignore all handled exception" + "step through"? Even when user has selected

    I want to mark a method as "debug step through" even if an exception is thrown (and catched within) the function. This is because 99% of the times I know this function will throw an exception (Assembly.GetTypes), and since this function is in a library I wish to hide this normal exception. (Why did MS not add an exceptionless GetTypes() call?)   • C# Script version of PyBinding for WPF

    I wrote a CSharpScriptBinding roughly equivalent to the PyBinding on CodePlex. It uses the C# script engine from http://www.csscript.net. After I wrote it, I kind of decided it might not really be something good to use. Although it caches the compiled script code as an already compiled Assembly, my concern is that I will have one temporary Assembly created each time I use the binding. Will this add up to a problem in the future? If so, maybe there is a way in the C# script engine that I don't know about to optimize this further...? Any thoughts to confirm my suspicion that this was just a bad idea (but useful excersise in learning more about bindings and converters)?

    I'm trying to figure out how to add records to an existing object for each iteration of a loop. I'm having a hard time discovering the difference between an object and an array. I have this @events = Event.find(1) @loops = Choices.find(:all, :limit => 5) #so loop for 5 instances of choice model for loop in @loops @events = Event.find(:all,:conditions => ["event.id = ?", loop.event_id ]) end I'm trying to add a new events to the existing @events object based on the id of whatever the loop variable is. But the ( = ) operator just creates a new instance of the @events object. I tried ( += ) and ( << ) as operators but got the error "You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! You might have expected an instance of Array. The error occurred while evaluating nil" I tried created an array events = [] events << Event.find(1) @loops = Choices.find(:all, :limit => 5) #so loop for 5 instances of choice model for loop in @loops events << Event.find(:all,:conditions => ["event.id = ?", loop.event_id ]) end But I dont know how to call that arrays attributes within the view With objects I was able do create a loop within the view and call all the attributes of that object as well... <table> <% for event in @events %> <tr> <td><%= link_to event.title, event %></td> <td><%= event.start_date %></td> <td><%= event.price %></td> </tr> <% end %> </table> How could i do this with an array set? So the questions are 1) Whats the difference between arrays and objects? 2) Is there a way to add into the existing object for each iteration? 3) If I use an array, is there a way to call the attributes for each array record within the view?

    I wrote a custom assembly to take a parameter value from the report and return a field from the dataset collection. My assembly returns the correct fields!name.value, but it shows me the string representation of it. How can I get it to resolve as the actual fields!name.value to display the actual data in the dataset? If I enter fields!name.value in manually it works fine showing me the value. If I resolve it with my custom code it display "fields!name.value" to me in the cell.

  • Best datastructure for frequently queried list of objects

    Hello, I have a list of objects say, List. The Entity class has an equals method,on few attributes ( business rule ) to differentiate one Entity object from the other. The task that we usually carry out on this list is to remove all the duplicates something like this : List<Entity> noDuplicates = new ArrayList<Entity>(); for(Entity entity: lstEntities) { int indexOf = noDuplicates.indexOf(entity); if(indexOf >= 0 ) { noDuplicates.get(indexOf).merge(entity); } else { noDuplicates.add(entity); } } Now, the problem that I have been observing is that this part of the code, is slowing down considerably as soon as the list has objects more than 10000.I understand arraylist is doing a o(N) search. Is there a faster alternative, using HashMap is not an option, because the entity's uniqueness is built upon 4 of its attributes together, it would be tedious to put in the key itself into the map ? will sorted set help in faster querying ?   • XML Schema Header & Namespace Config

    Migrating from DTD to XSD and for some reason the transition is a bumpy one. I understand how to define the schema once I'm inside the <xs:schema> root tag, but getting past the header & namespace declaration stuff is proving to be especially confusing for me. I have been trying to follow the well-laid out tutorial on W3S but even that tutorial seems to assume a lot of knowledge up front. I guess what I'm looking for is a King's English explanation of which attributes do what, where they go, and why: xmlns xmlns:xs xmlns:xsi targetNamespace xsi:schemaLocation And in some cases I see different variations of these elements/attributes, such as xsi which seems to have two different notations like xsi:schemaLocation="..." and xs:import schemaLocation="...". I guess between all these slight variations I can't seem to make heads or tails of what each of these does. Thanks in advance for bringing any clarity to this confusion!

  • Calling C# from ColdFusion

    I've written a .dll in C# to change the permissions on a folder. I also wrote an .exe to test the .dll and it successfully changes the permissions. Now I'm trying to call the .dll from ColdFusion, but I'm getting an error about System/Security/IPermission not being found. I'm assuming this is an interface in C# that ColdFusion can't find in any of the available assemblies on my system. I've added the System.Security assembly to my References in the C# project. Is there something else I need to do to make sure ColdFusion can find the interface?   • Map browser DOM using Javascript

    I'm trying to map a browsers DOM using javascript. It should list all the functions and attributes associated with it and it should also recurse through any object attributes. Now as I understand it 'window' is the most top-level node (although I've see a reference to 'top' as well in Chrome.) then 'document', etc. However I've never seen 'Node' under 'window' and yet I can call it. So where is 'Node' located? Is there a level above 'window' or is it a separate object (W3C says it's supposed to be inherited by 'document' only.)? I've been playing with a function to do this but I keep getting weird results so I'm not post it here. Alternatively - is it possible to get the properties from the object types instead of the object reference itself? for example 'DOMWindow' instead of 'window'. I think this would stop duplicating data from inherited objects.

I want to make a custom object which will contain the exact attributes as the column names, with the corresponding values. As an example, suppose that the object is X. So it will have three attributes which are X.name, X.gender and X.birthday, with the corresponding values from the records. Is it doable in PHP? If so, then how?
